Guest Reviews
- Adrian (9/5): -
- Eddie (6/5): Great location hotel is dated but ok for the price - Location was good It was under construction repairs the room was old and needs refurbished
- Jacqueline (8/5): Excellent location. Room with a view of the beach. - Proper bacon, well cooked. Friendly staff.
- Sam (10/5): - Great location, most friendly staff, clean, tidy, fantastic breakfast… perfect.
- Bruce (8/5): -
- Clair (8/5): Perfect location and space for a family - Recently renovated. Comfortable. Spotless
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Peter (8/5): Apart from stairs very good - Breakfast was very good Way too many stairs. Very hard to navigate
- Anthony (9/5): Very good and thank you very much, FALCONS NEST ! - Breakfast was plentiful and varied.. always someone on hand to get something if something had run out?.. and look after needs.. excellent.. Wi-Fi was a bit patchy.. it may be an island thing? Big old stone thick walls?I think asking a lot for Wi-Fi ? Big building as well… it wasn’t impossible it was okay… not being Moany Tony..
- Peter (8/5): -
- Jennie (9/5): - The location is perfect, great restaurant and lovely staff. The room was dated, but comfortable, and is due to be refurbished very soon. Excellent facilities on site. I booked as a staycation and will definitely do it again! The curtains let in a lot of light at night, and the room was on the cold side, but an extra blanket and a heater were provided. Hopefully this will improve with modernisation!
- Ben (7/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Nicola (4/5): Visible damp in room - Main bar area was nice ans staff were friendly Room was very damp in one corner above the wardrobe with large damp patches showing. . Communal areas very tired loking and very cold
- SirGaga (7/5): - Staff were great
Location was perfect for event Getting to the room took some time but not the end of the world
- Dave (10/5): Lovely old hotel - The room was very clean, and although the bathroom was a little on the small side, the shower was excellent; breakfast was very tasty and filling. The Hotel had a large bar area to relax in during the evening. The staff were very friendly, and the hotel is in a prime location for the shops, restaurant, the beach, and the steam railway. I would certainly stay there again. The toilet was positioned very tightly against the radiator, which made things a little awkward.
- Mark (8/5): Good stay as always but could do with room upgrades - Location and ease of use and for the amenities Rooms tired and bed very squeaky due to made of wood
- Clara (9/5): Nice place to stay - Great location overlooking Port Erin. Friendly staff, much improved from my stays 20+ years ago. Food and bar area is refurbished and food was lovely. It's currently being modernized so the hallways and bedrooms aren't as nice as the reception and bar area but still clean and functional. No heating in the room but warm once in bed.
- sternberg (9/5): - A lovely and friendly greeting on our late arival , the room was basic but very clean . Oh, and the bed was ver comfortable. At breakfast, such a warm welcome , a hot cappuccino, and my pouched eggs cooked to perfection 👌 my son enjoyed his bacon and sausage sandwich too. .good off-road parking I found it difficult in the dark , to find the hotel, i noticed the morning after , the fake grass and sign , looks like a new entrance , they could do with lighting the sign up, so people dont drive passed. The building is obviously old , not to inviting, making my way up to the room , my side lamp didn't work .
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Alan (10/5): Great value, and the staff and food were excellent. Will go again. - Clean and tidy, recently updated. Nothing really
- Diana (8/5): - The location of the hotel is very good. Sadly we didn't have a room facing the sea, but that was probably because we had a small dog with us. The breakfast was excellent as was an evening snack. The staff were excellent and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel as a comfortable place to stay in Port Erin
- Stephen Ian (10/5): -
- Sue (2/5): very tired hotel , needs a lot of work. The staff were all lovely though . - The breakfast was very good but far too big, excessive about of food. Maybe offer a smaller option or say how many of each item so that you can choose.
The hotel is in an amazing location but the glass in the windows was so old you can't see out and I had to climb to be able to open a window for fresh air.
- Patricia (9/5): Fantastic staycation in Port Erin - The location is fantastic, bus and old railway station near by, beautiful walks to bradda glen and the tower, you could walk to the sound on the coast line if you are able, we will do this next time. The staff are fabulous , friendly and helpful and the sea view room we had was spacious and very comfortable everything you needed was in the room , and those views Nothing not to like
- geoffrey (7/5): -
- Maureen (6/5): see above - good selection at breakfast. were not warned of disruption re refurbishment and though I am disabled I can manage stairs, which I knew about, but not so many with detours
- Susan (9/5): Fabulous hotel right by the beach - The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was ok and very comfortable. It was cleaned every day which was unexpected and a pleasant surprise.
Good choices for breakfast and the staff were great.
We enjoyed the restaurant choices and a drink in the bar later.
When our ferry was cancelled there wasnt a problem extending our stay The stairs would perhaps be difficult for some people
- Anthony (7/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Been many times, will go again. - Location, parking, ambiance, breakfast, bar, beer! Can’t wait for the renovation of the old bar toy be complete.
- Philip (8/5): Godd alue for money - Good breakfast with lenty of choice ift would be beneficial, quite a few stair up to 1st floor rooms.
- Lucy (5/5): Very dated - Nothing really, it’s very dates and overpriced Overpriced, poor decor and poor breakfast
- Linda (6/5): Perfect hotel in a stunning location. - Breakfast was amazing! Enjoyed our stay immensely.
- Jonathan (10/5): -
- Lois (8/5): Great for a short stay; spotlessly clean in great location - Spotlessly clean with all we needed for a short stay
Centrally located in Port Erin, next to the station. A 2 mins walk to the beach and 5 mins walk to Tesco Curtains needed in bedrooms as blinds do not block out the light
- Stuart (8/5): - Excellent location. Convenient parking and good breakfast. Doors require adjusting to avoid banging. Room was comfortable but could do with modernising.
- Alejandro (7/5): Necesita mejorar en algunos aspectos como la limpieza - Ubicación excelente Altos precios para la calidad del hotel. La habitación no estaba muy limpia.
- Debbie (8/5): - The apartment rooms were mainly spacious except the twin room was not.
Nice modern kitchen area and bathroom.
Decent size car park.
Good food and drinks in the Falcon Nest Hotel opposite the apartment building. The seating in the lounge area was limited, a settee for two adults and one armchair. It requires a further armchair especially for four people occupancy, there was three adults in our party so we managed.
- Sheila (10/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): Great location but stayed in better value places nearby. - It was very clean and excellent location. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was good. The beds are too hard so I struggled to get comfy. The doors slam very loudly because of the self closing mechanism, it’s very startling when you’re not used to it, especially at night.
- Nicola (4/5): V disappointing - Location was good. Some of the staff were friendly. Room v small and not v clean, carpet dirty. Towels thin and skimpy. The bed only a double with a hard mattress. Walls so thin we could hear our neighbours talking late at night and then snoring. Some of the staff were v offhand. Breakfast v limited choice, hardly anything beyond fried cooked breakfast and I had to request scrambled eggs separately. Expensive for the low standard of comfort and amenity.
- neil (9/5): - The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The view we had from our room was simply stunning.
The hotel was being renovated in places, but it never once impacted our stay in any way. Once the work is completed, it will be a very nice place to stay.
The breakfast was excellent every morning.
There was plenty of parking in their private car park. Very little to dislike. Some of the carpets were a bit worn here and there, but once all the renovation work is done, I'm sure it will be a stunning hotel, especially if you have a sea view.
- Richard (7/5): A very good base for a relaxing and restful few days with the occasional excursion. - The location is unbeatable, the staff friendly and helpful, the room spacious and comfortable and the breakfast excellent. With its proximity to the bus stop and railway station the hotel is an ideal base for a holiday on the Isle of Man. After a number of years' work the modernisation project is still not finished. As a result the entrance lobby is a bit restricted and the access to our room was a bit like a rabbit warren.
- Ken (9/5): -
- Lesley (3/5): Hotel was ok but very overpriced for a single guest. - The breakfast was fine, very good bacon and good choice of cereal etc.
Comfortable bed so slept well. Friendly staff. Good level of cleanliness.
Large car park. The rooms were dated with very basic facilities, small tv.
No residents lounge or seating area.
Restaurant quite expensive for dinner.
Very poor value at almost £200 per night (£900 for 5 nights)
- Lisa (8/5): A lovely break to visit family and would stay here again. - Breakfast was fine, all we needed to set us up for the day! Location was good. Unfortunately, i booked for myself and my mother and didnt consider the stairs to our rooms. This was a bit challenging for my 77 year old mum but we managed!
- David (8/5): Port Erin tt short stay - Good location, good food, good parking The room was very, very warm
- Caroline (9/5): A wonderful seaside family stay - The Falcon's Nest is perfectly located for Port Erin beach, the village shops, restaurants & pubs and the steam railway station. The beds weren't comfortable and there's no air conditioning or fans in the apartment so were very hot.
- Jane (9/5): -
- Rosemary (9/5): Very enjoyable, delightful staff and lovely breakfasts. - Lovely room but parts of the hotel a little tired Dining room functional but no ambiance; the refurb at the front of the hotel will be a huge improvement.
- Val (6/5): -
- Grainne (7/5): -
- Lindsay (8/5): Long weekend in Port Erin - The location is lovely, staff were extremely helpful and the single room was nice and spacious with lovely clean bedding and soft towels. The breakfast was great. The decor in the room was a little tired.
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Mcnally (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (8/5): Most enjoyable - will stay again. - Good breakfast A lot of stairs - ok but difficult with luggage
- Gill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachel (7/5): Will soon be 100% - Clearly spending a lot of money and this hotel very soon should be one of the best!
Great shower…fabulous breakfast. They have not yet updated the rooms so very old fashioned and basic. Although it feels this will change in the near future. Slightly overpriced for such a basic room but again this seems short-term.
- Chrissy (8/5): Perfect for a long weekend. - Location! Location! Temporary building work.
- Peter (7/5): Two night weekend trip - Location and views of the harbour.
Breakfast Lots of stairs and doors
- Bary (7/5): Good -
- Jeanno (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (8/5): Very good -
- Tim (7/5): Good - very good choice for breakfast
- Hanora (7/5): Staff were lovely & welcoming & the place is being renovated ,it wasn’t busy so a better room would have been ap - The staff were really lovely & welcoming. Louise was the perfect host, along with reception staff on the Thursday and housekeeping plus the lady who was on breakfast duty. Room was ready on arrival @13.30 . Our room view was looking out on to a yard where staff had a smoke & on their mobile. The glass in the bottom window was all frosted and old. Resident Dogs were barking early in the morning. On the radiator one part was missing.
A bottle of water in the room for guests arriving is on offer in other B&B ‘s. Entrance to hotel unclear.
- Carol (7/5): Good -
- Phil (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (8/5): Very enjoyable - Fine. Good service No porridge, fresh fruit and yoghurt not always available.
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely clean rooms 👌
- Micheal (6/5): Old school seaside hotel, but run down, good room, lovely staff. - The hotel is undergoing a massive refurbishment, which had not extended to my room, which was nothing like the website photo. But it was clean, comfortable., and had a good view. The restaurant offers huge portions where quantity very much exceeds quality. The desserts are good.
- Lee (7/5): Really enjoyed our stay at the Falcons Nest, kind of faded Victorian but quaint, will definitely return. - Great staff, good location. Easy parking for bikes. Food and restaurant were excellent. Decor was old and faded, rooms very outdated, it all needs modernisation and an uplift
- Edwards (8/5): Very good - Location was great
Breakfast was decent
Decent price for TT week! Rooms/bathroom are a bit dated but perfectly usable
- Sharon (5/5): Passable -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judith (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (4/5): Nice town to stay in, Hotel is dated and has no lift, lots of stairs, No hot water... - Breakfast was very good The hotel had no hot water for two days so had to wash and shower with cold water !!
Nobody appologised for no hot water and I would have liked a reduction in what I paid for the room.
Many guests informed the staff but all the staff said we know we have no hot water its been like this for a couple of days?
With no hot water to wash and shower it ruined my stay at the hotel.
Can I apply for a refund??
- Oliver (8/5): Very good -
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eirwen (5/5): OK but due to disability, needed a lift. - Excellent breakfast, lovely bacon, plenty of choice. Handy carpark. Orange juice was not fresh juice and over diluted. Problem with hot water (cold shower for two days) this was fixed immediately it was drawn to staff's attention.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Very nice staff good food comfy room Not a dislike..hotel under renovation...very comortable though
- Jason (9/5): Superb - Clean hotel,friendly staff👍 Had to go home😁
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Dominic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nigel (7/5): Pleasant stay in a tired building, offering a good nights sleep, good food and service with a smile. - The location is fine, very close to Port Erin harbour which is a lovely place. Atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed and service was presented with a smile from staff, who were professional, efficient and courteous. Wi-fi access was good. Breakfast was more than adequate and food from the restaurant was good. Cleanliness good. The hotel is a a lovely old victorian building and is tired, in some places tatty, with evidence of penetrating damp, ill-fitting fixtures & fittings, many of which are outdated. We have stayed here twice now and each time there has been scaffolding erected and works in progress. This is probably a good thing as the place is in need of extensive modernisation, but progress seems slow since we last visited.
- Stephen (8/5): Very nice, but Will be even better when finished!! - Location, sea view, food, staff, bar and overall a friendly atmosphere. The food was excellent and the drinks were not over priced. A bit dated in some parts, but this is being addressed bit by bit. We had to take the very early ferry across on the Saturday, so we missed breakfast. I asked if we could have a discount on the Friday night dinner to compensate. But alas it was a no!! Not a deal breaker but would have been a nice touch. So we went to the excellent chippy across the road instead!!
- Megan (8/5): Very good -
- Hannah (10/5): Traveling for work offers permanent make up - Friendly staff and very clean.
- Dorothy (7/5): Good - Good location and hotel had a car park. Comfy bed and clean. Dated and curtains in room needed hanging properly with curtain hooks at each end of both curtains instead of none.
- Deborah (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): Great location if the weather is good. Food was excellent, big portions & reasonably priced - We stayed in the apartments, they were really good
Good food, very reasonable, nice bar with sports on if you want. The Hotel itself is undergoing major renovations and our friends who stayed in the hotel were a bit put off.
Dated rooms & no lift
Too many fruit machines in the bar
- Wendy (10/5): Very enjoyable excellent apartment - Fab location left a laptop in room staff excellent in contcting me good party room my brother lives in cregneash it was a family party for him I' had a bit of a problem o n pavement to get to bar on my disabled scooter not many facilities fordisabled in main building or outside in roads
- John (5/5): Ok - Room was on top floor, very stuffy. No window in bathroom so made room hotter when showering. Window only opened slightly. Appreciate safety but could have opened more. Check in staff, unfriendly. Only 1 loo roll for entire stay . Breakfast great. Lady serving breakfast quiet but worked really hard. No lift was very difficult. Other residents extremely noisy till 2am. Rang reception twice. Only answerphone. Did call back and then resolved the problem. Only view was of a building site / dumping ground for close by buildings. Rm 21. Please see above.
- Anwen (8/5): Very good -
- Ella (4/5): Mixed review! Great spot, bad sleep! - Great breakfast and great location, the new renovation in the bar and reception area are very lovely so I'm sure once the rooms get renovated it will be massively improved too. The bed was comfy, but room for improvement elsewhere! When the room next to us turned on their bathroom lights, it turned on our bathroom lights. We could hear everything Including them going to the toilet and talking which kept us awake past midnight. When the room next to us flushed the loo, it set off noisy pipes in our room which woke you up throughout the night.
The Bed covers had marks all over it and it was all falling apart at the bottom. The Kettle smelt of burning.
Our room was at the back of the hotel so deliveries in the morning woke me up at 6am from the Creamery's and the room next door going to the toilet...so not a very restful sleep!
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is in a great location in the middle of the town food is lovely the staff are very helpful and friendly some of the rooms are dated but very clean have stayed a few times before and will be staying again
- Philip (4/5): Need a kick up backside the staff.. and was not told of any building work going on.. room needs upda - Bar staff in mian restaurant was unfriendly and everything u went the bar it seemed too much trouble for her too do her job...
Did not like her at all.... man doing breakfast front of house was dis interested.. walked away wen we gave our room number for breakfast we stood for a few minutes looking like idiots.. never told us where to sit or any info about breakfast.. was unfriendly and not interested.... very poor service... think he was the manager... Breakfast was cold for 2 days of our stay...
But Mondays was served made to order not buffet style.. Mondays breakfast was amazing and the older lady serving us was lovley...
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Great location and beautiful weather to match Looks very dated and requires some redecoration
- Andy (7/5): Good -
