Guest Reviews
- Annette (10/5): Fantastic Hotel / B&B in lovely Lerwick. - Its so lovely Great Location!
Great value for Money !
Amazing Staff!
Lovely made and very tasty Breakfast with lots of choices.!
Lerwick us so beautiful.
I will come again and happily stay here at Solheim again .
Thanks. I had to leave Lerwick.
- Vera (10/5): Beautiful accommodation, fabulous breakfast, great location - The breakfast was great, the option to choose from a self-service counter and egg preparation options, coffee or tea... just great! The room (single) has everything you need. But the most important thing was the wonderful, comfortable and spotlessly clean bed. I appreciated that after a long day exploring the beauties of Shetland. There is a kettle, coffee, tea, milk. The heating worked, but was not needed, the room was at a comfortable temperature. It is clear that the owner and staff care about the satisfaction of the guests. That is why I am here for the second time. I did not look for other accommodation. And I know that I will come back here again. There is nothing to complain about.

- June (10/5): Highly recommended, comfortable rooms, excellent staff, delicious breakfasts - Solheim is perfectly situated for bus routes and accessing Lerwick with friendly and helpful staff offering clean and comfortable rooms and delivering delicious breakfasts. My first visit to Shetland was brilliant! Nothing
- David (8/5): Great service and good value - The location was good.
Staff were friendly and very helpful and attentive.
Small single room, but it had everything one could ask for.
Allowed me to access the room well bfire check-in time and to leave bags at end if stay until later in day
- Laura (9/5): - Excellent breakfast, comfy bed, good location

- Pauline (4/5): -

The food was very good and rooms clean The shared bathroom
- Janse Van Rensburg (10/5): - Rooms were very clean and tidy and location made it easy to access Lerwick. Staff was very kind and provided an excellent breakfast No clear instructions on how to checkout early, however this was a very minor issue

- Alan (9/5): Lovely place in good location - Great location. Lovely comfortable room. Delicious breakfast. Friendly staff. Good WiFi. Easy parking straightforward outside.
- hojichamatcha (10/5): Memorable time in Shetland :D - Everything! As a first-time visitor to the Shetland Islands, I felt really welcome. Staff members were very kind and friendly, especially Calum and Eva! Very responsive communication via Booking.com messaging. They were also happy to provided recommendations on the islands. The room was very cosy, and there were enough amenities (just the right number of clothing racks, tea/coffee, towels, etc.). The shared bathroom was very clean and tidy. I really liked the breakfast: simple with a variety of options (fruits, cheese, cereals, eggs). It charged me up before I did my hikes and walks around the islands. I left one day earlier due to unstable weather but communication to hand in the keys etc. was clear. I will book again if I visit the Shetland Islands! I wish there could be alternative milk, like soya milk provided for breakfast. It would be nice to have some simple slices of ham too as bacon might not suit the dietary needs of everyone (it's rather high fat). It would also be nice if there could be a small guest fridge just to put a couple of things that need to be chilled.
- Gary (9/5): - Breakfast was 1st class Nothing to not like
- Mark (9/5): -
- Angela (8/5): Good value for money. Good location. Quiet and comfortable. - Clean and comfortable. Very comfy bed. Steep staircase - but staff very helpful with bags.
- Abi (8/5): I’d be happy to stay again when I return. Thanks - Relaxed atmosphere. Help from staff when needed. Prompt replies to messages and calls. Lovely breakfasts. Very friendly.
- Yvonne (7/5): Short relaxing break - Very good. Met our requirements Nothing about the stay
- Rudolf (10/5): Simply lovely - The hostess
- Julie (10/5): Clean, comfortable, close walking distance to everything and friendly hosts. - The breakfast was fabulous and the hosts friendly and helpful and we were so happy they were able to accommodate us on very short notice. The location was perfect for walking everywhere we wanted to go!
- William (7/5): All things very good - Very good No complaintsall
- Ricky (10/5): A fantastic gem in Lerwick, excellent value for money and very comfortable - Well maintained and looked after properly. Yes the doors were a bit squeaky and the floor boards a bit creaky but it is an old building. All rooms have decent facilities. Calum and his team went above and beyond with their hospitality. Nothing really.
- Ruth (8/5): Wonderful - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
- Emslie (6/5): - Very conveniently placed guest house for all amenities
- armin (10/5): nice cosy room. close to other connections. -
- Satoko (10/5): -
- Stephen (1/5): DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY - Nothing Room allocated was not suitable for disabled.Despite requesting a ground floor room our money was taken knowing that they didn't have a suitable room or letting us know before the money was taken so not allowing us to cancel the booking. Money was promised to be refunded but over a week later NO refund. Now won't answer the phone to discuss it
DO NOT TRUST A BOOKING FOR THIS ACCOMODATION
- Alexander (8/5): -
- MICHAEL (9/5): - Overall a very comfortable stay.
All facilities in room were first class & breakfast was outstanding every day.Would highly recommend Solheim as the place to stay in Lerwick Nothing of any note
- Shearer (7/5): -
- Olivia (8/5): The hospitality was great, I would definitely come back again and would recommend anyone to stay there. - Clean room, they kindly gave me a room before check out time as I arrived very early in the morning. I think the ceiling of the room needs attention, noticed to cracks due to very loud footsteps and vibrations from the person staying above my room floors need better insulation. Also, I would like to suggest warm plates for breakfast. As lovely as the bacon and eggs are, it’s needs to be kept warmer. The hot plates only keep the food lukewarm and the plates are very cold so I did end up having a cold breakfast.
- David (10/5): Very good value and good location - Excellent value for money and great location If you have a dodgy knee there are quite a few stairs

- Andrew (8/5): -
- beate (8/5): -
- Gillian (7/5): -
- Kim (6/5): - Location
Good communication via booking.com Very impersonal - first impression of closed dark doors and no greeting area
Bathroom small and shower uninviting
No effective curtains
Breakfast of generally low quality

- Andrew (7/5): -
- David (9/5): Great location and breakfast with friendly and helpful staff. - The location was excellent, with buses heading to much of Mainland stopping on the same street and The Knab, the Broch of Clickimin (and a Tesco superstore opposite) and the attractions of central Lerwick just a 10 to 15 mins or so walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful, and served a great breakfast. Nothing really.
- Gordon (9/5): A very pleasant trip - Breakfast good, staff very pleasant
- Rachael (7/5): -
- Deidre (10/5): - Great location. Room 4 is spacious top front room. Breakfast was Awesome. Nil
- John (10/5): Charming B&B with a touch of class. - Ideal location for 2 -3 nights. Generous breakfasts, period setting, charming B&B. Nothing!
- Jeanie (8/5): A great choice for our first stop!! - The Solheim was the first B&B that we stayed in while on our vacation in Scotland. We were there for two nights. The owners were friendly and helpful and served a wonderful breakfast. The tartan carpet and old world style of the house were welcoming and comfortable. The beds were firm and the rooms were clean and well appointed, including tea and coffee. We had a room on the top floor and the stairs were steep (due to the style of the home) so make sure you ask for a lower floor if you have difficulty with stairs. We were very happy with our stay!! Shetland was a great place to visit and wander to take in scenery. Visit the cliffs in Echness and the lighthouse and ruins on the far south of the island, if you get a chance.
- Gerald (8/5): -
- Lena (7/5): - I was really disappointed with the staff when I informed them about a guest who was smoking in his room the night of my last stay. They claimed it was impossible because of the smokedetectors. But why would I lie? I felt humiliated.
- emily (10/5): Excellent value for money, I'm coming back! - This hotel was lovely! The bedroom was really comfy, the staff were accommodating and let me leave my luggage at the entryway because I arrived early. The location is super central and the breakfast that was served was fabulous! Not much to improve, to be honest.
- Lynn (7/5): Very good value stay but in need of a little updating - Enjoyed our stay. A great location and lovely staff. A good breakfast. The room was a bit dated and the bathroom was functional but would have benefitted from being updated. One side of the mattress had a dent in it making it difficult not to roll out of bed!
- Anderson (9/5): -
- Cliff (9/5): -
- Louise (8/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean Size of bathroom
- Ann (8/5): -
- Caminero (10/5): Bravo Solheim! - This is absolutely the best hotel in its category that I have visited. Friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast and most importantly, a comfortable bed.
- Ross (10/5): -
- Tomas (10/5): - Clean, cozy, great breakfast. Friendly staff. Nothing
- Dilligat (10/5): Definitely recommend Solheim. Very close to the town, bus route to airport or tourist sites at or ne - The breakfast was lovely. A freshly cooked breakfast just as you ordered it.
Light airy room with plenty of tables and very helpful friendly staff/ management. Nothing. Everything was great.
- Orsolya (10/5): -
- Brian (8/5): Nice stay. - Nice breakfast to set you up for the day ahead. Good location with a short walk to evening restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful too. Great value and I look forward to returning. Some guests might want more breakfast choices but I’m sure that could be accommodated if you asked.
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Ian (8/5): Fine stay not far from town centre - Breakfast was great it was just what I needed in the morning Fine with it all
- Sarah (9/5): Comfortable and peaceful stay at a great price - Great location! Close to supermarket, downtown and nice and quiet. Lovely breakfast in the morning and perfectly comfortable room with all I needed for my stay, including tea and coffee, a hairdryer, enough towels, heating and fan, my own sink and a decent sized wardrobe.
- Kerry_Evans (8/5): - Bay window seat and view.Breakfast staff gave you space.Room ready early no extra fees for early arrival.Let me leave mobility stroller under stairs. Carried luggage upstairs. Parts of hall bannister bit loose.
- Paon (8/5): -
- David (10/5): The stay was teriffic and guest house staff friendly, welcoming, helpful. - The guest house was handy for access to Lerwick. The room was comfortable and warm. Nothing.
- Ian (8/5): -
- Linda (9/5): Glorious weather and lovely people all over the islands - Plenty on offer to eat, everyone so friendly and made you very welcome. In a good location for everything. Nothing to dislike
- Helén (7/5): -
- Michael (8/5): - Good location, easy parking, helpful staff, decent breakfast. The top floor room was hot (due to the unusually hot and sunny Shetland weather - not much the hotel could do about that I guess!). A little information sheet in the room would have been a nice touch (eg how to work the TV, times of breakfast etc)
- Richard (9/5): Excellent - Spacious room with everything you need. Comfy bed. Excellent breakfast. Shower room was a little cramped.
- Yves (9/5): Hébergement à recommander à Lerwick. - Proximité de la ville. Parking possible dans la rue. Petit déjeuner copieux et varié. Salle bain un peu petite.
- Kirsty (8/5): - One of our rooms was lovely, very spacious with an ok size bathroom. Staff were friendly. Excellent location. Breakfast could have had more veggie/vegan options, eg croissant or cooked breakfast eg beans, veggie sausage. One of our rooms was less comfortable, with a very small bathroom.
Andava bene negli anni settanta. Possono fare ben di più e meglio. Parola di albergatrice!
- Michael (7/5): Pleasant - Central location warm and clean No lift for top floor room. Small bathroom with tiny sink. Breakfast choice
- montserrat (9/5): - Estuve cómoda y a gusto.
- James (8/5): - Clean, quiet, nicely laid out room, good breakfast.
Very easy parking and close to Lerwick centre
- Allison (10/5): Comfortable and good value for money accommodation in which I would happily stay again. - Lovely comfy bed and pillows. Really friendly team and a great breakfast. Any place which does real cafetiere coffee is a winner for me. Nowhere is very far from anywhere else in Lerwick, but this was a great location at a good price. The stairs would be a challenge for anyone with mobility impairment but were fine for my husband and myself. We lugged our case up ourselves but we could have had help if we had asked.
- Simon (8/5): Nice play to stay for a long weekend in Lerwick - Comfortable bed; powerful, warm shower; friendly staff and marvellous breakfasts.
- Ngaire (9/5): Felt like a home away from home within walking distance of the town and easy parking and access to get around - Cozy comfortable room, great location
- Mandy (10/5): Nice relaxed holiday - Everything was perfect
- Shirley Margaret (8/5): Comfortable and well located - Wonderful location - close to town Would have liked more than 2 sachets of milk for 3 days. Couldn’t find staff to get more. Venetian blind didn’t close all the way.
- Gary (10/5): -
- Tsigan (5/5): Good central location in Lerwick - Great location in Lerwick for locations and also for nature, walking etc. A lovely warm accommodation with a warm shower and good WiFi.
Good for driving up, down and across to places.
Good to be able to do a self check-in as we wanted to tour for the day before arriving.
It was good to have a sea view also easy street parking. A slight downside was the buffet breakfast- good enough but sadly not the Full Scottish individually served which we were hoping for.
The room curtains were flimsy and completely useless for cutting out the light- even at night.
The bathroom had a small hand basin and needed mould removal & decorating.
The most concerning issue was the very low balustrade approx 78cm high with some loose vertical parts - This needs to be dealt with immediately.
