• Vanessa (9/5): Great location, clean and unique accommodation - Great central location with restaurants and sights nearby. The room was clean and the staff answered all my questions quite quickly via email or phone. The self pickup of the key via safety box worked out well. I particularly liked the accommodation I stayed in, which was a former church building and quite a unique and charming place with a great view and lots of windows and light. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom new and clean. I only had to get used to the church bells ringing at 6 am. -

• Franziska (8/5): - Frühstück war in Ordnung Bett bequem Lage ist ansprechend. Zum Bahnhof sind es 8-10 Min zu Fuß Keine Parkplatzkapazität vorhanden gewesen. Aber in der Nähe hat es ein Parkhaus. Nach dem Duschen war das Bad geflutet - Gummidichtung müsste erneuert werden
• Derya (9/5): Wunderschönes Altbauzimmer - Sehr charmantes Zimmer wie in einem Märchen. Das Hotel ist im Herzen von der Altstadt St. Gallen, besser geht es nicht. Weiter hat das Hotel ein Link für Gäste, wo man alle Infos finden kann sowie Tips zu was man in der Umgebung unternehmen kann. Für kleines Gepäck gibt es im Hauptgebäude Schliessfächer, die man jederzeit nutzen kann. Nichts :-)

• Stephen (8/5): In practice we enjoyed our room and stay - Breakfast excellent- plenty of choice. Room excellent. Complete lack of effective communication before we arrived - we were told we would be staying in an annex and that as many of staff had left as hotel would be closing at end of September there would be no actual staff on reception on certain days. In fact there was a member of staff on reception desk when we checked in and we were allocated a room in main hotel building

• James (8/5): Good choice but note the opening times - Nice historic building, great location. Nobody there until 4pm so if you arrive earlier make sure you have a 2 franc coin for the lockers. You can’t adjust the aircon.

• Iolo (8/5): Excellent location, room a bit small - Really good location, right on the square next to the abbey and the old town. Took about 10 mins to walk from the train station. We stayed here on two separate occasions while in St Gallen - the first time we were in the main building, the second time we were in the annex building, but both are quite close to each other. There was also the option to self-check in if we were arriving later than the specified check-in time, which we did once. But that meant having to swipe on an internet page to open the front door & room remotely - useful or not, depending on your perspective! Rooms were not particularly big - narrow stairs and small lift means it's a bit tight if you have a lot of luggage. Limited luggage storage space too.

The hotel is right on the doorstep of the Abbey District and other attractions are a short walk away. There is also good public transport connections nearby if you're looking to travel out further. The train station is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

• Wai nga (10/5): An excellent hotel, absolutely recommend it - An excellent hotel, the hotel staff is nice, we arrives early before the check-in time, the staff was so nice and helpful let us check in the room earlier as this is available. We can refresh ourselves after a long overnight bus to St Gallen. Location is very close to those tourist attraction too. Love to stay here again

My phone battery was dying so I had to charge it at a local restaurant and was in a panic about being able to get in. Also the reception remained closed during it’s open hours, which didn’t help the situation at all. Also stairs at the entrance are not helpful with heavy bags

Very helpfull and polite staff. Big and very cleen rooms and baths Check inn through the was finally impossible and the front desk lady did it manualy (thank you but we have to cut many of the electronic-bulshit that makes our lives finally much worse!!!) The price was too high but considering that the place is in the center and we are talking about Switzerland i guess its ok.

• Sharon (9/5): A fabulous trip all in all. We would return to St Gallen again - The location was excellent. The rooms were clean and adequately equipped. I booked 3 rooms for myself and 2 daughters and their partners. My daughter’s rooms were a good size but ours (304) was small with a sink in the room and a very small shower. No tea and coffee facilities in the room but we just thought on the way home that perhaps we were allowed to use the facilities at the end of the corridor but nobody informed us of them?

Morgenmaden kunne godt være bedre, jeg blev dog mæt. personalet var meget venlige, og serviceminded. Jeg var ked af, at der var så mange brosten hen til den indgang jeg skulle bruge som kørestolsbruger. fordelen var at elevatoren var der, selvom der var brosten.

Trying to check in - over reliance on digital check in which didn’t work and we spent 10 mins trying to access reception as door was locked when we arrived at 6pm and we had to resort to trying hotel website portal links and calling the hotel before a staff member responded

• Lesley (10/5): I will be back! - A perfect location in the heart of the old town. The reception staff were friendly and this little hotel had everything I needed for a 3 night stay in St gallen. My airy, double room faced an inner courtyard and was so peaceful. I had air con and two big windows that opened fully. It was very clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. There are facilities to help yourself to tea and coffee etc on the ground floor with a lovely terrace to sit outside. I didn’t have breakfast in the hotel as I like to wander and find a cafe - there’s an excellent one just around the corner on the square overlooking the Abbey. You are minutes walk from so many things, including the funicular railway up to the lakes where you can have a swim. I would definitely stay here again. Just a note that to leave your bags they need to fit in a locker and you need a 2CHF coin to operate it and take the key. Not a problem for me …I just went to the cafe in the square with my bag and had a cold beer to get some change!

• Tania (6/5): Nice spot close to town centre - Location was easy to find from train station. A bit of a distance so got quite wet in rain. Room was large and comfortable. Quite close to town centre and local restaurants. Reception is closed from midday to 4pm. They have lockers to leave suitcases, but you need coins to use them. Had to try to find ATM nearby and then get a shop to give change.

• Kirstin (6/5): Good enough for a one night stay - Location is perfect if you want to visit the UNESCO World-heritage site, the cloister. The room was very small, not at all as the pictures suggest. There was no full bathroom, but the sink is inside the room, only shower and toilet are separate in a very small space. The mattresses are very soft and the pillows have a monstrous size. The entrance of the hotel is not very welcoming.

• Laura (10/5): Beautiful Aldstadt stay in the 16th century Dependence building. - I stayed in this location two separate times on this trip, once alone and the second time with fellow travelers. It is ideally located in the Aldstadt near the Abbey. I chose the beautiful corner room in the Dependence building for my first stay (there are two corner rooms, the lower floor has more windows if that is a draw for you as it was for me). It was exquisite and worth the extra francs. I especially enjoyed being able to see the city Christmas lights from a 180 degree angle. The room was spacious with comfortable extra seating. There was a nice mini fridge and coffee maker in the room as well. The bed was very relaxing and the bathroom roomy and well equipped. Check in was limited in time from 4-6 but the staff was prompt & courteous. They have two sets of luggage lockers in the check-in building for 2chf (refundable) for early arrivals. Lockers are large enough to accommodate a 23" suitcase with a bit of room to spare. My second stay was also in the Dependence building but I wanted my friends to enjoy the two corner rooms so I chose a smaller one which was still extremely comfortable. (Property photos are very accurate.) We did not partake of the breakfast at the hotel, choosing instead to eat in a Conditerei just around the corner. We were in Switzerland for the Christmas markets; chose St. Gallen as an overnight stop on our journey. I would not go to St. Gallen for its Christmas market, though the Aldstadt had beautifully decorated streets and store windows that were magical and convenient to explore. We had a perfect stay!
• Samuel (9/5): Absolutely loved it - The Superior Double Room - Dependance room is such a treat. Roomy and comfortable with the special historical oriel addition. Absolutely loved it...wish I could have spent more time in St Gallen just to enjoy that room. And, btw, they do have a hairdryer.

The room is located in a building from the late 1500’s…The room was perfect for our stay and the building was great to stay in. It was very clean and in a perfect location. • KAREN (10/5): - Small room but lovely hotel and area. Wonderful visit, we would stay again!
• Carl (7/5): Clean, modern and convenient to the train station, but disappointing customer service. - The room was clean, spacious, and well appointed. There was some noise from the street, but the windows were pretty well soundproofed. I was checking in later on a Sunday evening (about 2000 hours or 8:00 p.m.). The information sent to me prior to this by email was confusing and contradictory. The code I was given did not open the door. The help number, the previously-sent email assured me, would be answered by someone who could speak German or English. Since my SIM card did not work in Switzerland (not Hotel Vadian's fault), I had to walk up the hill to the Hotel Einstein, where the staff most graciously made the call for me. When the person from Hotel Vadian answered, I quickly discovered that she couldn't speak a word of English. Again, the front desk lady at the Einstein saved the day by taking the phone back and questioning the woman in German. Then she hung up and told me, "She will meet you there". That's how I finally got into the Hotel Vadian. Travelers should realize two things about the hotel: -Their front desk hours are limited, i.e. only until noon Saturday and not at all on Sunday, and -The staff does not speak English. I don't know whether they can speak French or Italian, since I didn't try to talk to them in those languages.
• Alice (10/5): Very lovely. We had a hiccup with the plumbing and the staff was very responsive and made sure we were taken care of. So - Style interesting mix of old and new. Excellent old town location. Really nice staff. Nice kitchen with everything we needed.

• Christine (8/5): Staff was helpful, room was lovely. - Excellently appointed bathroom & linens, charmingly renovated room in an old house, amenities provided were thoughtful (tea, coffee, etc.) Although warned that the hotel offered rooms away from its main building, they (the rooms), while close, were not so easy to identify and thus find. At first, I was shown a map, not given one, so had to return to Rezeption to clarify and, this time, to take a (laminated) copy of the map with me to assure success. House number turns out NOT to be directly adjacent to the door, part of the difficulty in recognizing the connection.
• Sanyukta (9/5): Smart little place located in town centre - highly recommended for a short stay - Located right at the centre. Clear instructions on booking.com in terms of what to expect. All good, no complaints
• Frank (10/5): - The place had everything one could need, even for an extended stay. The kitchenette was well stocked. It’s an easy 10 minute walk to the train station, even with roller bags. We would stay here again.

• Jeff (6/5): - The property was newly refurbished. Rooms were very small. Check in was awkward, a few hours during the day the office is closed. We checked in on a Sunday and the office had closed at noon??? Had to figure out how to call the office, finally got thru and some one was there just shut the door. Ask all your questions because alot of information is not given unless you ask.

• Marian (8/5): We loved being in the old town - Excellent location for visiting the UNESCO site. Clean and spacious room Breakfast was okay and the gluten free rolls provided were excellent. The weather was hot and the air conditioning was not working.A large fan was provided and was only just about adequate.
• Wei-jun (10/5): Exceptional - The location was great. It's next to the Dom and very close to the city center. The building is a historical building but the internal facility is quite modern. The room even has an air conditioner :)

• Cynthia (9/5): Great stay in a charming hotel in a lovely little city. - Location in the heart of St Gall. Very comfortable and very clean room with everything one needs. The tea and coffee facilities were also welcome since we did not take the breakfast . A list of TV channels and their language, just to be able to watch the news perhaps. Not important really for a short stay.... all the ones I found were in German only.

• Katharine (10/5): Comfortable air-conditioned rooms right in the centre of beautiful St Gallen. - Very centrally located hotel with comfortable rooms and air conditioning. Easy to reach fro the train station and right in the middle of the old city next to the cloister and cathedral - perfect! You can check in whenever you like with a special app and it is possible to store luggage. Everything was great.
