Guest Reviews
- DIMITRIS (3/5): - It had 2 ACs which came in handy •It was very cold and we had to have the ACs on all the time in order to keep the place warm enough to sleep.
•The toilet was outside of the house in the backyard which is uncomfortable if you visit Japan not in the summer and NO it wasn't shown in the pictures.
•The WiFi never actually worked and even though we communicated the problem we got no help in fixing it.
•I think the safety of the house could be compromised easily if someone wants to enter illegally.
•Definitely not worth it's money. We paid 170€ for 3 nights which is like 30.000 in Japanese currency.
•It was the most expensive compound we've stayed so far and the worst at the same time. If it was cheaper it would have been OK but my guess is that it's overpriced because it's in Kyoto.

- Nejc (9/5): - The apartment is great! It's big, spacious and quiet. Provides a unique experience of staying in Kyoto. It is perfect if you are staying in Kyoto for longer and you want to take it slow, since it is quite far form the main downtown town. We stayed for 2 weeks, so were very happy with the extra space and didn't mind the longer walk or switching a train here or there for the comfort. Would not recommend to someone staying in Kyoto for only 2 - 3 days. The apartment could also need some renovation and deep cleaning, so if you are a clean freak, maybe go somewhere else.

- Si (7/5): Good - The shower was alrigth The toilets were located outside in the garden, quiet inconvenient and cold. We had to sleep on the floor but the mattresses were really to fin, not conformtable.
- Terrell (8/5): A great shirt stay that I would use again on another trip to Kyoto. - The property was clean spacious and comfortable. It was in a convenient spot and spacious.
- Ma. (10/5): Great Stay in Kyoto - Its well maintained Probably just the mosquitos
- Luis (10/5): - It was amazing to live a real Japanese experience in a really nice place
- Kayleigh (10/5): - What a beautiful little house! It was lovely to have an authentic Japanese home base to return to every day. The house is in a residential area away from the city centre, so it's extremely quiet and relaxed. We felt completely safe and secure in the house, and I was very comfortable even without the aircon - the house was surprisingly insulated. The little veranda out back was a nice place to sit and have a drink in the evening. I also loved the bath/washroom. The only things I would say to watch out for are the mosquitoes (make sure you have bug spray!), and that if you don't want to walk ten minutes to the train station, it's quite hard/takes a while to get a taxi.
- Colin (2/5): - The pictures listed in the hotel listing are not at all accurate. In the pictures it shows a tatami may floor to sleep on, which is considerably more traditional and comfortable than the linoleum flooring in the hotel now. Additionally, the bedding that is provided is not adequate. The futon mattresses on the floor is far too thin and not suitable for a comfortable nights stay. I asked the company for additional mattresses and they would not provide.
I also did not appreciate the $1800 tax I was asked to provide at the end of my stay. This was not disclosed beforehand, and made it difficult as my group was not carrying cash.
Long story short, this hotel is clearly not described accurately, and the level of comfort it provides is grossly insufficient.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice - I don't know the original price but I went here during covid (with some discount ) and it's a really nice house. You get some nice utilities (washing machine, kitchen and a pocket wifi...). The house is typical Japanese style, very clean, staff has clear English indications.
2 'malus' point (not dependents from the staff). The neighbor put television from 6 am every morning ^^ and the toilet that is outside (like a room in front of the little garden) is not my style ^^.
Otherwise, highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Antique guest house - The place has its original Japanese home decor and met our needs in terms of experiencing the local guest house. Although it is homey, it will be great if the house is maintained well. The interior is rather old and perhaps that is the way it preserves its antiqueness. Perhaps one thing that can be improved would be providing a guide on lightings in the house at the self-check-in table with the remote controllers, so as to allow convenience for guests to navigate themselves around the house. Unfortunately, when we checked in, it was after sunset (winter time), thus, it was dark but we had to locate lighting switches around the house.
