Carolin (2/5): - We checked in and were immediately surprised at how dated and inelegant it was. We decided to keep an open mind and waited for our room to be prepared, but when we were shown to our room, it was tiny with barely any room for anything but the futons in the middle of the floor. There was mold everywhere and an enormous spider in the closet of a bathroom from the moment we arrived (so house keeping must not have bothered even looking in there). The “private onsen” is just a bathtub on the balcony, which is in complete disrepair. We explained our concerns to the staff and ultimately stayed less than an hour- we requested reimbursement for at least the second of the two nights we booked, particularly since we booked last minute only hours before arriving, so we knew we weren’t taking up a reservation for a room they would have otherwise been able to book someone else in. Expedia was unable to reach them have sent two emails any have gotten no response. This hotel looks nothing like the photos and the conditions are unacceptable.

Atari (4/5): - The impression I had of the hotel staff was very good, but the response from the Japanese woman I spoke with on the phone before my stay was poor and rude. Despite the hotel not being inexpensive, we were shocked to find that my room had not been cleaned when we returned at night. We went to the front desk to request cleaning, then went out for dinner. When we came back, we found that only the bed had been made; the used cups and trash were left as they were, and, for some reason, the sash of the yukata had been placed on the floor. The drain in the bath was also poor, and after using it for a while, water began to accumulate. The staff who attended to me were good, so I don’t want to speak too badly, but for the price of the stay, the service was completely unworthy.

TOMOE (6/5): 最初は好印象でしたが… - 着いた時に駐車場の位置がわからなかったので電話して聞いて車を置いて、玄関に着いたらもう外で待っていて下さったのが好印象でした。部屋に入って最初に目に付いたのが上り框に落ちていた大きな埃ですが、そこは大したことではなく、あまり気になりませんでした。一番がっかりだったのは、貸切風呂です。50分で3600円でしたが、用意が出来たと言われ、入ろうとしたら脱衣所に大きな水たまり。今まで他のところで貸切風呂を予約して利用したことが何度かありますが、無料でもバスマットを交換して、脱衣所は乾いた状態で借りられていたので、安くない金額でこれかと呆れました。夕食はかなり量があり、食べきれないくらいでした。朝食は夕食と同じ場所と事前に説明があり、各自で席に着くスタイルでした。夕食のツブ貝とデザートのニューサマーオレンジのシャーベットが美味しかった。もう次は行かないです。

We stayed for THREE nights in SEN NO UMI - IZU and I find it hard to start and express the level of disappointment and disgust I feel as a guest we have felt while staying in this lame / poor level hotel. Before describing the horrible time we had for three long days, due to the disadvantages of this horrible hotel, I would like to note that all that will be stated as follows are backed up by photos. SEN NO UMI hotel, although described as a 3-4 hotel is nothing but a 2 stars hotel, if one would like to be generous, and a lame Guest house for 20 something backpackers if one wants to give an honest description. And I will say HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! Having been living in Japan for over 20 years now, this is the FIRST TIME EVER I stayed in a hotel of which I could not figure whatsoever, the price I was asked to pay for such a dubious experience! SHUTTLE SERVICE 1. Although an email was sent on the morning of our arrival informing the hotel that our time schedule had changed (I have the email with the date and time to confirm we asked the hotel to change the arrival time in advance), NO ONE was waiting for us at the station. After calling the hotel, firstly I was scolded by one of the staff, and only thereafter was told that they are "willing" to send us a shuttle service to pick us up from the station to this "lovely" hotel. THEN even though Izu-Inatori station has two exits: one with NO stairs, and the other with plenty of them (!!!!): the pick up service did arrived, but for some unknown reason, chose to wait for us at the one which has plenty of stairs (this was the first time I started to get suspicious about the quality and nature of the hotel, not only for having lived in Japan for so many years, but also because I have my own small business which affiliated with overseas tourism to Japan). Konrad (8/5): Very good - It’s nicely located next to other onsen hotels, the sea and a few restaurants and shops. The onsen was pretty okey and overall staff were nice and helpful. The breakfast offered is a fancy Japanese style set that features local fresh fish and was very good. We didn’t try the dinner option. The AC in the room was pretty old and didn’t cool the room much.

(6/5): - ⭐️良かった点→①夕食が鮑の踊り焼きや伊勢海老に金目鯛も有り豪華②露天風呂が海を見ながら入れる③大きなソファのあるお部屋にアップグレードして頂けた ⭐️気になった点→①スタッフさんの対応や言葉遣いが雑②大浴場の脱衣所に綿埃多数③翌朝、脱衣所のシャワーキャップ等のアメニティグッズの補給無し④夜中（23:30頃）寝れないくらい他の部屋の話し声がうるさかったので、フロントに電話したが出なかった⑤おしゃれ浴衣貸し出し有料（500円）がありましたが、色褪せてて貧相⑥ウェルカムドリンクのシャンパンが温かった。 ⭐️総じて、ハイクラスのお宿さんと期待しましたが、おもてなしが残念でした。

Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff are very friendly and helpful. Particular thanks to the young guy and lady who helped us call the car rental agency because we had some damage to the car. The hot spring is nice. It was a bit difficult to find eatlets for breakfast near the hotel as most open not until after 10am.
