Guest Reviews
- Joanne (8/5): Very clean and comfortable stay - Happy with the room/faciities/parking/cleanliness/comfort etc. my only thought is that at check in they did all the right things and told us what we needed to know but wasn’t very friendly or welcoming.
- james (6/5): - not bad
- Saheel (10/5): - Great
- Simonne (6/5): - Room needs a good vacuum and possible faecal matter on the bathroom door frame. Staff weren’t over friendly in the resultant, check-in was good. Restaurant meals were average and hotel looking tired!
- brian (8/5): - Room was clean and comfortable. With bath which was welcomed after a long week. Another guest set off the fire alarm (out of hotel's control) but it did wake us. No one came to tell us it was a false alarm so we quickly dressed and went outside. Since it was early and we were now awake we went to breakfast. Breakfast was not included in the hotel price. Would have been nice had they included breakfast for those of us woken very early by a false alarm. Again out of hotels control but still would have been a nice gesture after only 3 hours of sleep.
- Andrew (6/5): - Business Trip to Edinburgh
- Jodie (4/5): Need a clean and staff need to cheer up - Our room window did not close properly as the handle was missing.
The service in the restaurant was poor. If you want served by someone that gives you dirty looks everytime they bring a plate and can’t smile at all you’ll enjoy this. Food wasn’t great, nothing came out together. Never cleared the plates and when we asked the waitress rather than take some with her she told us she would find someone to do it which took ages. Desserts put on the table without lifting the main plates. The restaurant and hotel are not very clean the floors are filthy.
- nick (8/5): HUMANS, hmm! - Room was ideal, shame about the other guest who left their manners at home!
Loud TV, running riot, in all just a problem!
- michelle (10/5): Great family stay - Nice hotel, handy location and bar and resteraunt in site. Room was clean, some bits could be updated but generally very good.
- Li (10/5): - It's really good at this price.
- Antonio (4/5): Not a good experience - Terrible service, waited for one hour to have a breakfast with only one person servicing all the clients, needed to ask mutiple times for cups and plates, food not good, they didn't clean the room, noisy doors, bad experience, not going back
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a pleasant stay. Comfy bed and nice bathroom with a bathtub and shower.
- Steve (10/5): - Nothing to complain about really, cheap clean, did what it said on the tin....food/beer/service were spot on...been here before when i was in the area so a no brainer to choose it again
- elizabeth (6/5): - Our bedroom was clean and functional along with a comfy bed. The pub food was great in the morning but not so good in the evening as we didn't think value for money. Staff where very attentive and where pleasant at all times. Found it strange that the pub stopped serving drink at 9:30pm. I think if you didn't have a car it would not be ideal for getting about as a bit out of the way.
- Lesley (6/5): - Didnt eat there - room ok, quiet and comfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy to find and comfortable room for the night.
- Megan (10/5): - Convenient, clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely weekend in Glasgow - I booked an accessible twin room at Raven's Cliff, Motherwell for the weekend. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, the pillows were great to sleep on, and the accessible toilet / shower was large and easy to use. The breakfast and dinner served in the pub / restaurant were delicious and the price was reasonable. In summary, I had a lovely weekend stay at Raven's Cliff in Motherwell.
- Scott (6/5): - I used to enjoy staying at a Arden’s mainly for the carvery only weekend now
Menu is burgers or fish and chips
I opted for the fish it was terrible definitely not haddock batter was ok but would never eat that white thing inside the batter and told the staff as I was leaving went to bed hungry as it’s miles from anywhere
- sharon (10/5): - Nice place great for a quiet night sleep
- sharon (10/5): - This is one of my favourite places to stay. Everything about The Ravens Cliff is spot on from arrival to departure, even including the wildlife outside
- steven (6/5): would stay elsewhere - hotel room was just basic and the pub food and drinks was very expensive for what you get very disappointing also couldn’t eat or talk to family members with dogs barking and growling at each other
- Catriona (2/5): - It was disgusting, litter all over entrance, unhealthy meals, food on floor of our table the one I ate there. Silly string imbedded in entrance carpet, paint peeling off door to restaurant, no public transportation, bed set that you hit the emergency button so we had to move it. & bash your head on your phone connection. Not enough towels, no fridge, no ice, for the money a disaster! Sticky nasty surfaces in room & restaurant… do not stay there!!!
- PAUL (4/5): - Not great that a public bar closes early if you have been working a long day
- Mark (8/5): - The hotel is clean and the staff are really friendly.
- Levente (10/5): - Wery nice place.
- Monika (10/5): - Very comfy beds. Nice and friendly staff. Quiet place perfect for good rest.
- Harry (10/5): - Really enjoyable overnight stay .Lovely comfortable bed and clean spacious rooms. Exellent evening meal and good beer Delicious breakfast
Will be back again
Highly recommended

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean and comfortable
- Carol (10/5): - Good hotel with pub.
- Joseph (10/5): Ideal stop off - My daughter was at a competition at Ravenscraig centre so the location was ideal, price was great and rooms were ideal
- Harry (10/5): Football trip - Absolutely fabulous friendly hotel.Lively welcoming staff excellent food and drink.Very clean spacous rooms and comfortable beds. All at a very reasonable ptice.Free parking .Will definitely be back
- Zara (4/5): Strong Smell of Paint Fumes - Hotel was undergoing refurb which I wasn't informed about during booking. Very strong smell of paint fumes in room and corridors which lead to waking with a headache.
- Alistair (8/5): - The approach to the hotel there are loads of cigarette ends by the door way. Lots of rubbish in the bushes generally untidy.
The pub itself externally is 3 different colours and the porchway roof had tiles missing
- Kevin (8/5): - Great, couple of weeks snags but great service and staff
- Beth (6/5): Room could have been cleaner - Convenient location for what we needed. Friendly pub with ok standard food attached for dinner and breakfast. Window sill in room was very dirty! Dead spiders and muck.
- Anson (8/5): - The staff excellent cleaning staff excellent the other guests so rood and ignorance no pride and just abuse the facilities for others so from a brand new hotel its getting knocked about very quickly
- Arlene (8/5): - Staff were lovely and it was easy and straightforward check in & out, rooms were clean and bed was comfortable
- Ian (10/5): Comfortable - Comfortable
- Michele (10/5): Comfortable stay - We stayed here due to the location.. right next to the sports centre. Great place to stay with great resturant.
- Dale (4/5): - Out away from everything, rustic room, mediocre food
- Sharon (10/5): - I have booked here many times and never been disappointed, it’s a lovely clean & cosy place
- Michael (6/5): - Must have had the same room as one of the previous reviewers, welcomed by a lovely just fist hole in the wall and stained carpets
- Amy (10/5): - Lovely stay here, clean, warm, very comfortable beds, shower was perfect, clean tea & coffee facilities in room. Really pleased with our stay here.
- Salomo (10/5): - Will come back again
- Salomo (10/5): - Great service
- William (6/5): - Nothing really
- Walingamina (10/5): - Shower water running very slow on the floor in room 105.
- Adele (6/5): - No soap in room.
No tea/coffee facilities in room.
No TV remote in room.
All replaced whilst we ate our evening meal.
Soap replaced but lid left on which was too difficult to get on. Had to go back to the restaurant for someone to fix this.
Blood all over curtain in room which I didn’t notice until this morning.
- Helen (8/5): - Staff great, room clean but could do with a bit of an update here and there, lots of rubbish in the carpark blowing around.
- Michael (6/5): - While all staff were very helpful and food in pub excellent Ev charger did not work and carpet in room looked untidy
In all stay was ok I wish it would all have been great
- Mark (10/5): Praise for the staff - Morgan and the rest of her staff could not have done anymore to make our stay really enjoyable.
- charles (10/5): - Wonderful staff and good rooms value for money
- charles (10/5): - Easy access to facilities , friendly staff / clean rooms , wonderful
- Stephen (8/5): Ok stay - Booked for a stay 2 rooms, 2 nights for a funeral as it was best part of a days drive up and back. Rooms are basic, ok and clean . Beds comfortable, although FIL had a bit of an issue with his. Staff in the adjoining pub /restaurant were accommodating and helpful as we met with relatives on both nights. Breakfast was an issue, second morning as we’d paid for full in advance, but for some reason they said there was a ‘kitchen issue’ . TBF they credited the full and let us have continental for free.
- Eileen (8/5): Lovely hotel, great service - Upon arrival we entered hotel to find, what we thought was the reception, closed. We pressed a buzzer but nobody appeared. We looked up and down the hallway but found no staff.
At this point I have two really excited children with me who are starting I worry they won’t get in.
We decide to cross the car park and ask at the restaurant, where we stood waiting for staff at the sign stating wait here to be served. Still nobody approached us so we went to the bar where the lady informed us reception was in the restaurant.
After this the service was excellent, we were also informed there is a notice outside the hotel informing where checkin is however with two overexcited children I didn’t notice it and could not see any notice inside hotel informing where reception was.
- Marie (10/5): - Location was excellent for what we needed as only a short stop off to visit family
- Neil (10/5): - Somebody had thoughtfully punched a hole in my bedroom wall before I checked in.
- Jamie (10/5): - Very comfortable
- Ian (10/5): - It was fine and comfortable.
- sandra (10/5): - had a bath, nice area around hotel. pub across from the rooms handy but not noisy. spacious. tv easy to see from bed. hairdryer
- Twilla (6/5): - The hotel was clean. The beds were not comfortable at all and you could feel every spring digging into your back. The room needed a few amenities, a refrigerator, microwave, and either a coffee pot or some way to make hot tea along with some utensils. I realize we were out of the USA but an ice machine located somewhere within the hotel. We drink our drinks over ice and we are not the only people from the US that travel and ice should be make available. Not sure at this point if I would stay there again or recommend the hotel without these changes.
- cathy (6/5): - Beds were very uncomfortable ,this was due to age and condition of them as they were damaged and very uncomfortable to sleep on
- Laura (8/5): - Nice hotel
But breakfast was disappointing
- Andrea (6/5): - The stairwell has fine tobacco spit on the stair carpets. The carpets are filthy.
The bed was great, the bathrooms nice and clean, and the parking was great too.
- Katie (6/5): - Cleanliness of the room was disappointing. Mattresses were very soft.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - We stayed as our son was competing in the taekwondo scottish national championships at the Ravenscraig sports centre. This was literally over the roundabout, about half a mile away, so perfect for our needs. We had clean towels every day except sunday, when there is no cleaning service, which was not a problem. We just asked for more towels at the bar! Restaurant staff were excellent, they were friendly and helpful. Our room (room 101) was lovely and warm, and it was clean and fresh. Plenty of space and on ghe ground floor, which was great with me being disabled and mobility being an issue. Only thing i would suggest, is that as room 101 it is a ground floor and therefore more helpful for disabled guests, it would be preferable to have an actual shower cubicle, rather than a shower over the bath, which i found very difficult, and had i not had my husband with me to help me get in and out, would have been a problem.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Enjoyed the stay very large comfortable beds but the room and corridor walls were needing repainted and carpet had a bad stain. Handy to have the resturant next door and a great wed bus service from outside the hotel.
- Meghan (6/5): - Basic- nothing memorable
- Benoy (10/5): - Seamless Check-in, ample parking, front office & pub staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was well-lit & clean, the air-conditioning was super. The full Scottish breakfast was the best! It was a calm and lovely time and a great experience! Thank you 😀
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. The room was clean with all the facilities we needed. We liked that there was a resturant on site and that a copy of the menu was included in the room to use. We would recommned this hotel, and be looking to stay here again ourselves.
- Gurpreet (8/5): - It was good
- David (4/5): - Stayed one night, room was basic, that was expected for the price.
Check in - could have been friendlier. No direction or signage to rooms. Was told there is no ‘bar area’ for drinks and all tables were for food and would need to book a table. Found this strange as it’s a pub!
Room key had be to attempted 3 times every time it was used, spoke to others guests who said the same.
Larger was flat. Starters were ok, chicken was dry and missing the salad garnish that was described on menu. Orders sirloin steak and chicken flatbread for mains. The steak was over cooked and clearly a cheap cook. No steak knife. The chicken kebab was nice but had to have it remade as asked for no sauce and it came with a thick layer. This meant we ate separately as it took 10 mins to remake.
Young waitress was nice. Manager was scruffy and unfriendly.
Pub was almost empty, but we were TOLD where to sit and not given a choice.
- william (2/5): - the fact that I got into the rom118 and put the lights on and plunged into darkness, went to look for recepton desk couldnt find it spent half an hour lookin for someone gave up in end and went to bed as i was so dissapointed fine start to married life
- james (6/5): Average hotel - Hotel was not to bad apart from that it was standard, toilet seat in room didn't fit right and was lose so managed asked behind the restaurant about fixing it , they said they would get someone out to fix it, but no one came
- Anne (10/5): - The rooms were very clean .The double bed was lovely but the single beds were too hard.
- Helen (10/5): - I felt very welcome and safe to stay there as a single person, good facilities and have booked again for my next stay.
- Karl (10/5): - Room better than expected, convenient to motorway but really quiet.
Cleaning staff do a fantastic job no complaints from us. And bar staff were equally as customer focused, efficient but realy approachable and freindly ...
- Galina (8/5): - Clean room, comfortable sleep, quiet location.
- Sreelal (10/5): - Exactly the same as mentioned in the add. Good, clean accommodation with ample parking space. Convenient location.
- Alan (8/5): - Easy checkin nice restaurant and bar
- William (10/5): Great live to stayb - Great family stay Enjoyed the Resturant. Helpful staff Just issue on price to be resolved with Hotdks .com
- VITUS (10/5): - Was a good stay, quiet and serene environment
- Anna (10/5): - Pub staff excellent
- Leena (8/5): - The hotel was clean and just what you’d expect for what you pay for. I have no complaints, it seemed to be well maintained, the tv was bigger than I’ve experienced in similar hotels which was good and the room was decorated well in comparison to other hotels of this calibre
- NIGEL (10/5): - Great place to stay,
- karen (6/5): - The room just wasn't the cleanest. The toilet was in need of a very good clean. Unseen unless you sit on the 3rd bed - gross, just gross
- monika (10/5): - Rooms are located across the pub. Convenient location with parking facility and pub for a really good meal.
Room was clean and looked really nice. Perfect for what we needed as a family.
- robert (6/5): dont think we will return - The hotel it's self is fine but a little in need of a spruce up rooms a big and beds are comfortable. the concerns are its in the middle of nowhere and so you need to use the attached pub to eat the food portions are terrible and ours came cold we had our money back and had to order in a takeaway
- Iain (4/5): Really poor - Really poor. Room dirty, breakfast not qorth the effort or cost. Room freezing cold and heating not sufficient to heat the room. Avoid if possible
- Louise (2/5): - Very poor breakfast. Hot chocolate machine broken, no dairy free milk options, dirty plates, dry rubbery pancakes
- Troy (8/5): - Very friendly staff
- Thomas (6/5): - Nice quiet area. Good staff and good food. The rooms were good, but the hallways and stairways were beat up, and the carpet was dirty.
- Sai B. B. (10/5): - This is an all stars facility. The Inn is a new property with just a few minutes away from local amenities and 30 min from Glasgow. We stayed 2 nights there and it is highly recommended.
- Debbie (8/5): - Properly cleaning rooms (walls and CARPETS) and hall would make this a great stay
- Paul (4/5): Avoid - The room was filthy, marks and cracks in the walls and stains on the carpet. The bathroom ceiling had a lot of black mound on it. The bedroom window did not open so I could not get any fresh air to ventilate the mouldy bathroom.
No remote for the TV
The staff were very friendly and professional
- Ryan (10/5): - The rooms were nice and clean. They had beds for all 4 of us. The people were very nice and helpful.
