- Rachel (8/5): Suited our needs. Mattresses were very hard -
- Charlton (10/5): - Warm and hospitable.
- Lilian (8/5): Friendly and helpful country hospitality. - Gorgeous helpful staff. Cosy beds. Quiet.
- Riffle (10/5): Highly recommended. - The room was perfect, & the staff on check-in and the restaurant were excellent The duvet needs to be much bigger than the bed.
- Jaime (10/5): -
- Bella (6/5): -
- Lisa (8/5): -
- Ian (10/5): -
- James (5/5): - Didn't really understand why it was reviewed so well. Eggs Benedict for breakfast came out of a tube. Nasty
- Roger (8/5): Whilst the room was very good the quality of the food at dinner was well below standard. - The full English breakfast was very good The fish in my fish and chips was overcooked and the batter was wet.
The chicken in the chicken goujon was dry.
Charging for a continental breakfast for a piece of toast and a coffee was excessive.
- Gillian (8/5): An enjoyable stay despite it being for a wake. - Lovely location. Friendly staff. A comfortable room but the carpet needed a shampoo along with the stair carpet leading to room 5.
- Patsy (10/5): Perfect for our overnight stay. - The staff, location and ambiance. Nothing to dislike.
- Charlie (7/5): -
- farrell (7/5): Slightly Disgruntled - Grounds lovely
Outside area well kept
Shower good
Nice hotel, well maintained We booked via Booking.com , requesting a pet friendly hotel as we travel with two small dogs. I distinctly remember ticking a box which asked are you travelling with pets , tick here so we can prepare for you. On arrival, the receptionist told us we had booked the wrong room for pets and should have rung direct, not booked via booking.com. he then said there were no pet rooms available but reluctantly assigned us the Russet Roomas booked. He then " found" a "gap" - his words - for a dog friendly room.. this after making us stand there feeling uncomfortable.
He said he'd upgraded other guests so we could have that room. . We felt he was discouraging about booking.com as it clearly is cheaper for the customer than ringing the hotel direct as he suggested, but, if the hotel uses this booking system , surely they should allocate the correct room for dogs and not have a problem with customers booking through it
Otherwise why use it??!!!
We have stayed previously at this hotel and everything was lovely.
Also as an aside there were no coffee pods, only limited tea bags and no spoon in the room for drinks
For one moment, my husband and I felt we were being refused a room after booking in good faith, which wasn't a welcoming start to our stay.
- Valerie (8/5): - Excellent freshly cooked breakfast with pleasant views from the dining room.
Comfortable bed and good bathroom. Electric points available on both sides of the bed. Lights for reading in bed not so good for older eyes.
- Siobhan (9/5): I have stayed several times and always enjoy staying there. - Lovely hotel, excellent wine and food. Massive jacuzzi Bath had a shower hose to rinse hair but no shower curtain. No way to have a shower without crouching in the bath.
- David (9/5): -
- Robin (10/5): Great service. Lovely setting. Very clean and comfy. - Everything Nothing
- Jeremy (10/5): We were attending the Goodwood Members Meeting and couldn't have booked a better hotel - Room was exceptional, Dining facilities great and the menu choices were exceptional, breakfast choices were exceptional. Nothing
- Graham (9/5): Very pleasant and comfortable - It was ok Traffic noise
- Lyndon (7/5): -
- Jack (8/5): - extremely quaint and quiet
- Alexander (7/5): Great location and outstanding meal - Great location, the staff were very friendly and the food in the restaurant was outstanding! The carpets could probably do with a clean. Didn’t feel as clean as it could have.
- Philkg (9/5): -
- Judy (8/5): - All was very good, comfortable and warm. I would have really preferred a closed-in, private outside area (however small) attached to the room, where my dogs could pop out safely, without me.
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Richard (8/5): Great for an overnight stop to see relatives -
- Donna (2/5): - Location, but not given the garden room we expected No hot water to shower, this was just brushed off by reception as a minor inconvenience.
- Sue (7/5): Wouldn’t choose to stay again - Location, friendly staff, bar and breakfast and room was clean The room walls were thin and we could hear the person on the phone from 6am on the first morning which woke us and annoyed us.
The stair carpet going up to room 5 was very dirty looking and unappealing - off putting on initial arrival as concerned the room would be similar -‘it was okay through
Food value for money was expensive £17 breakfast and bar charges
- Melanie (8/5): -
- Karen (9/5): Lovely place to stay near Chichester. - The room was lovely and the staff very welcoming. Great to have electric charging for the car.
- Simon (9/5): Great staff, lovely hotel, had a fab steak meal, another great stay at Crouchers - Stay at Crouchers regularly, lovely hotel with a great restaurant, try the Pizza restaurant, the pizza is amazing
- Anne (8/5): Lovely location, rooms good but service at breakfast could do with improvement - Set in a beautiful location, room sizes good, beds very comfortable. The shower took a long time to heat up and was hot and miss with the hot water. Service at breakfast was disappointing. Very slow. Waiting on average 30 minutes from ordering. We ordered coffee and it went to a different table.
- kevin (8/5): -
- Nicola (9/5): - The room was nice with easy access to the outside. Close to the coast and Chichester and the restaurant food was very nice Bring reminded that we had a dog. Not to go on the bed eat away from everyone else. Even though it was a dog friendly hotel.
- Lynne (8/5): Lovely food, room expensive wouldn’t stay again - The room was pleasant with a lovely view with easy access to garden for our dog
The barman was great and food excellent The room was really cold when the radiator was turned on the smell was overwhelming of dust. The bathroom was freezing even with the towel rail on.
Walls very thin could hear every noise from next door shower, tv, couple having sex. Etc etc
Found the cheap hand made information booklet strange an unprofessional
- Logan (9/5): -
- Elena (9/5): -
- James (10/5): Perfect stay, great room and fantastic food - we have already booked to return - Room is well equipped, food is excellent n/a
- Lydia (9/5): Well positioned and very friendly hotel - We enjoyed having a garden room, as we had our little dog with us and she could have a walk around. The property was very well placed for going to Chichester, West Wittering beach and also Portsmouth, which we visited. The food at their Potager restaurant was amazing ; we had our 2 dinners there and really enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the delicious food. The double bed was a bit small and creeky for us, but we managed for 2 nights.
- Sarah (8/5): Comfortable break, would recommend the area too - The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was good, particularly the full Englishg which also has a vegetarian alternative It's close to a very busy road which can be quite noisy
- Sarah (9/5): Would definately return. - Staff were great, good setting, food was excellent. Also EV. Harding points. Nothing
- Joanne (10/5): -
- guennie3 (10/5): Very pleasant and comfortable hotel - Lovely one night stay at this friendly hotel. All the staff were cheerful and helpful. The room was comfortable with a patio and lovely view across the fields. Dinner and breakfast were tasty. The bar and restaurant had a lovely ambience. Good value for money. A good place to stay in this area.
- Janice (9/5): I would definately return to this hotel! - Dinner was exceptional! There was a bit of road noise but not massivly bad that it kept us awake!
- Annette (7/5): Nice hotel for one night - Limited choice at breakfast Sadly catch of day was limited to one serving
- Eli (8/5): -
- Ian (9/5): -
- Andy (9/5): Very happy-would book again - Excellent restaurant, food high quality
Friendly staff-minor issues fixed promptly
Room clean and comfortable
Perfect location Room somewhat smaller and less bright than expected. Bedside lighting could have been better but these are minor quibbles
- Sam (8/5): Wonderful staff - Beautiful grounds. Very pretty.
- Helen (7/5): - Really lovely breakfast. Little bit noisier than expected with some traffic from the road and rooms below. Very pricey. Sadly a popular area and limited choice in the area.
- Valerie (9/5): - Staff friendly, room nice Bed not particularly comfortable
- Nicola (8/5): - Rooms are very clean, decor is excellent and well kept. The bed was comfy. The property feels cared for.
There is an excellent Indian restaurant across the road which serves fresh, delicious food. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, service was slow and when it arrived the food was quite cold.
- Coral (8/5): I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort and good food. - Lovely atmosphere all around, with welcoming staff and the food was amazing.
I had dinner in my room as I was staying on my own, the meal was beautifully presented and piping hot. The weather 😊
- James (10/5): Comfy room, well equipped, fantastic food! - Room was a good size, well equipped and clean / comfy. The real bonus here is the dinner and breakfast - fantastic quality, we were very impressed. Will definitely stay again! N/A
- siltinn (6/5): OK BUT! - The owner has a severe anger management problem
- BishopD (10/5): Great location for ferry crossings. - We booked Crouchers at short notice after a missed ferry crossing. The staff were most helpful and our room had a French window onto the garden which was perfect as we had our dog with us. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent, as was the breakfast. There is also EV charging in the car park which was very handy. I would thoroughly recommend Crouchers Hotel.
- Lynn (9/5): An enjoyable experience all round! -
- Amanda (9/5): -
- Jatinder Singh (7/5): Nice stay but breakfast is a joke. - The room was spacious and parking was free. Breakfast was £21.50
I arrived at 9.57am and they accommodated me but I had whatever was left from the continental breakfast (which was basically nothing) and the Full English arrived without the sausage but a few slices of bacon extra instead.
For the price, it felt like a mugging.
- Danny (10/5): -
- Ruby (8/5): -
- Kerry (8/5): Perfect location for sons wedding in Southend barns. Enjoyed our stay and would return. - Breakfast lovely but a bit overpriced Bathroom could do with modernisation but shower was lovely
- STUART (10/5): -
- Shelley (10/5): I would have liked to stay longer - Didn’t eat
- Ian (10/5): Lovely location, friendly staff and fulfilled our needs. We will be returning! - Location was brilliant for our trips to the beach.
A vast amount of options for breakfast- very yummy. Restaurant in the evening could have included some of the lunch menu, i. e burger.
The restaurant didn’t seem that busy but maybe down to cost.
- Emma (7/5): Room underwhelming. - Well located, easy to find and ample parking. Lovely food in the restaurant and main hotel areas attractive. Our room was rather tired and underwhelming - the bath and basin taps were defective and loose, the bed was poorly made on arrival and whilst re-making we noted the mattress protector was ripped and one pillow was soiled and had no protector. Furniture was marked by water stains and there was minimal tea / coffee supplies and just one small bottle of water and one packet of biscuits despite being a double room booked for two people. 3 random towels of varying sizes and styles. Door closers need adjusting on room doors as we were frequently disturbed by adjacent/above rooms. Overall, our room had budget break vibes.
- Donald (10/5): A competative priced hotel with pleasant surrounds and great menus - The restaurant was pleasant and the prices were good fir a hotel. The situation of the hotel was good .The staff were very good and helped whenever asked.
- raymond (9/5): dined with friends. excellent. - all as expected nothing
- Naomi (8/5): A pleasant stay with excellent friendly staff. Rooms were comfortable but not exceptional. - Location was excellent Outside access between rooms and main dining room and bar. Not good in rain and cold.
- Veronique (9/5): -
- X2851TWbenm (2/5): Below par hotel with RUDE manager - Do yourself a favour and just burn your money. Honestly this is one of the worst experiences I have ever experienced as a travelling business man. From start to finish the attitude from the ‘manager’ Carol was absolutely disgusting. Because I couldn’t give an idea of when I would be arriving due to meetings the ‘huff and puffing’ from her over the phone was beyond a joke.
My hands were tired staying there as my work booked this but I will now be telling my company to look elsewhere. The facilities and room was below par. Mould, a musty smell on all bedding and hair in the shower and sink on arrival was unacceptable.
Avoid like the plague.
- Ken (10/5): Enjoyable overnight stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Good facilities, very clean and appointed. - Good location and setting. Comfortable room and facilities. Helpful staff and good breakfast. No complaints
- Gary (9/5): -
- Josie (8/5): Great location to visit family in the area. - Very helpful staff. Clean and well appointed. Some rooms were much smaller than others and felt a little too cosy in comparison but suitable for an overnight stay.
- Laura (5/5): - Location Lack of detail,
- CHLOE (3/5): Only reason we stayed there was location, wouldn’t rebook. - Location and decor.
The bar and restaurant were lovely but the room was underwhelming. For a family of 4 it was too small and poorly lit. Incorrect information provided regarding dining options during the Christmas period which inconvenienced us one evening with two small children. I don’t think a whole hotel should close if guests are on the property.
- Ashleigh (5/5): -
- BEN (10/5): -
- Ben (9/5): -
- Martyn (9/5): Nice Stay in Chichester - Friendly staff and a nicely appointed room. Nothing really
- Kristine (7/5): -
- Nicolie (9/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): -
- Kenneth (10/5): All we could have wished for. - Room was excellent with view of small wooded area and meadow. Potagers restaurant served great food. Breakfast choice was very good.
- Charlotte (2/5): We won’t rush back to stay - The bar and restaurant were well presented, friendly staff, plenty of room to park. We stayed in room 14 it absolutely stank of damp/ mould, the bedding was actually wet from the damp
The headboard is material and needs a bloody good hoover and clean, the carpet filthy, dust and grime over the phone and lamps
When you pay more to stay in a hotel of that calibre you expect more, especially when spending over £100
It was impossible to sleep due to the smell and the light shining through the top of the curtain from the footpath, and other patrons standing outside chatting
- Chris (9/5): -
- lynne (9/5): Had a really lovely stay - Lovely food and restaurant area.nice room although did smell a bit doggy but overall very comfortable xx amazing staff
- Richard (6/5): I was staying due to being at the John Lewis Chichester-works party and Ijust have to say how poor the food service was - Lovely room but it was far to hot as the radiator was on full blast Fabulous bathroom
- Cathie (8/5): Great service and a pleasant location - Clean and tidy No chair in the bedroom.

- DHJUK (2/5): Be warned if booking a cottage! - Be aware if you book the cottages, the restaurant which is next door has a license to play load music until the early hours of the morning. We booked 3 cottages for a wedding and were not informed in advance that there was a party in the restaurant. We informed the manager that we had to be up at 5.00am and were assured the music would stop at 10.30pm. It was well past midnight when we had to get out of bed and go over to the restaurant to ask them to stop.
As for Carol the manager, well my written complaint was eventually responded to after a few calls only to be told “ our license allows us to play music while we are open”
Other guests staying in the hotel complained about poor food quality and attitude of staff. Seems to be a common theme with other reviews.
- jo (10/5): Nice stay - The room was lovely, the bonus of a fridge and a bath tub.
The staff were polite. Parking free Could hear people under the room and doors going other than that it was perfect.
