Guest Reviews
- Sameer (6/5): - The smell was really strong. Perhaps of cleaning agent. The place is small but manageable.
- Anne Marie (6/5): - Very noisy elevator and very noisy neighbours coming in until 3:00 AM and being very loud. Bedroom too small be it claustrophobic and washroom also
- Robert (8/5): - Very clean. Small apartment. The building is above the metro so it’s possible to count trains while waiting for sleep. La Latina is not the best neighborhood but it is the same distance to Embajadores which is nicer and very close to the Rastro marketplace. Many places to eat at and couple of night clubs to fill the gaps between trains until the early hours.
All in all good value but a little noisy.
- Timothy (10/5): Pleased, but be aware... - We enjoyed our stay at Smartr Madrid La Latina. Clean. Practical. Pleasant area. Close to metro, but we walked to the Prado, the Plaza Mayor, and so forth. We also walked with our luggage from Atocha, so the location was great. We loved having our own kitchen so we could make our own food some meals. The only (unpleasant) surprise was that there was no front desk. Entrance was through a code texted to us. Perhaps I missed that detail in the hotels.com description. So be sure you have a phone number to which that code can be sent. Checkin was paperless, which was tricky and took time before the trip. And you have to pay ahead of time. So those details should be taken into account.
- MOKHALAD (2/5): - No hot water and the air-condition was broken. It end up sleeping with my family windows open . I contacted with property manager and they said: he willing send some tec im morning to fix the problem. My apartment was D3
- Javier (2/5): Mi worst ever checkin experience. - Mi worst ever checkin experience. at the check in moment they contact us on whatsapp and requested our credit card info in a suspicious and insecure link . It felt as scammers , they requested all our passport ID again in top of the security numbers of the Credit Card. This was not preview explained in hotels.com at the moment we booked. Also the description say that was an office at the location but the offices was a 15 USD taxi far from the apartment. We could not understand how hotels.com is renting Apartments! This is not correct or at least should be very clear at the moment you book. Now we will have to cancel our credit card as this company got all our info typed and we are very worried. In top of this the location was scary at night. Not recommended at all!
- Timothy (10/5): Check-in needs some work - Had received an e-mail from the property saying I needed to pay a deposit before they would give me the day-of-arrival entry code to the building with 2 Spanish phone numbers to call- both of which rarely answered. When we did connect, it was a slow process on phone data to follow the link sent to pay the deposit to get the code. We were grateful it wasn't raining, as we would have been standing in the rain for a half hour trying to get it all completed. Once in, the property was fine.
- Christine (10/5): - We loved staying here since it gave us more freedom than a hotel and we were able to wash and cook a little. The only issue was heating that wouldnt turn off but we were able to remedy this
- Lawrence (8/5): - The property was close to center of City with a underground station nearby, too floor, good views accross City, facilities all good, powerful shower ,hot water, furniture basic bit shabby but ok, comfortable beds clean linen and olent spare towels, overall a very enjoyable stay.
- Dollymarie (10/5): - Place was very central, alot of option to eat.
- LauraTuulia (10/5): Satisfied customer - I had an excellent stay at SmartRental La Latina. Apartment was clean and I found all the necessary items there (towels, hairdryer, fully equipped kitchen etc.). Isabel was very helpful via WhatsApp if I had any questions. Lavapiés district is Madrid at its best in my opinion. It is a very lively and a bit bohemian area with many bars and restaurants. There is also a big supermarket open 24 hours a day close to the apartment, Lavapiés Carrefour. Next time when I travel to Madrid I will choose SmartRentals again.
- maizebb (2/5): Worst experience unhelpful staffers hang up our calls cudnt get in for hours - Horrific experience. We were told before our trip that we could go to the apartment directly and get the keys there. We were met by nobody and when we tried to call someone to help, nobody seemed to care. We got asked to call different numbers and after many phone calls, many false promises of meeting us at the location, being hung up a few times, we finally got told to go to another office address to pick up our keys. If not that we were with luggage and kids, we probably would have gone somewhere else.
One of us gotta take a taxi to go to this office, which is not even nearby, to get the keys. Whilst some of us were waiting at the front gate, our neighbors looked very understanding and clearly we were not the first to be stuck like this.
The apartment was poorly managed. Rubbish was still there. It was dirty, smelled like cigarette. The bed, the so-called mattress and pillows were vry uncomfortable. Wouldnt stay there again even its for free.
- Clare (8/5): Very good base for visiting the city - It is a small but nice flat. Very clean and a quiet enough building/neighbourhood. It's a good base for visiting the city - can walk to the centre but metro is at the end of the street. I did have an issue with my phone so don't know when or if they tried contacting me, but would like to have received information by email earlier - email with contact numbers etc received on day of arrival.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It is not clean, there is no support after 7:00pm, basically you beed to wait to next day to get support.
Room was not clean, blankets were dirty, they got only changed the next day, I slept in the floor due to this so mu kids can use the orher bed.
Location is not in the safest area. Be careful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It has wooden floors and zero soundproofing. Not recommended for lifgt sleepers
- billy Y (10/5): Nice cozy apartment close to attractions - Fully furnished apartment with kitchen and washing machines. Neighbourhood with walking distance to attractions such as La Osa y el Madroño and plaza Mayor
- Milton (6/5): Basement hidey-hole ! - A previous night was in a great room 2-D. But this booking at same price took us to the basement with rumblings of underground trains frequently. The bed was comfortable but as large as the room itself so required some acrobatics to get in and out of bed. Lovely large towels and linens. Nice kitchen. The location is near train and subway stops.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The suite was a plus with a washing machine. The balcony & layout was nice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bad communication and property reception was uncooperative
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice cozy apartment in a good location. Only problem is that there is no one on site to give you a key or check you out. You have to go to a different address about 15 minutes away to check in.
- Evelyn (10/5): - Apt 5A was small but had all the conveniences we appreciated most -- great windows, clean, well provisioned, comfortable and very close to both grocery stores and the Metro. Well within walking distance of major points of interest. The only disadvantages for us were that the check-in time is so late (3 PM). We arrived via taxi from the airport close to 10 AM after travelling for19 hours and although we were able to drop our luggage off at their little office it was not very close to the apt. We walked around another 4 hours waiting for the room to be ready. Also, instructions for the clothes washer/dryer, dishwasher and other things are all in Spanish ~ confusing. Only Spanish speaking chanels on TV too. But there IS a washer and dryer and it worked for us and there is an elevator in the building so you are not lugging your belongings up 5 or 6 floors. :) We could happily live there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I didn’t like the location, noise all night long and bed bugs
