Guest Reviews
- Fay (10/5): From start the girls at the bar and checking in we’re all loving and Gordon never stopped at breakf - Breakfast was excellent very hot so that makes a difference. Room was lovely we were in room 10 but couldn’t get Wi-Fi but not a problem we had dinner and yes once again compliments to the chef The only thing we didn’t like no not like it was just being on the street which we liked but a very busy and a bit noisy
- Terri (7/5): Great location & restaurant. The small rooms are small, staff are friendly, clean linens. - Convenient location.
Easy & good restaurant, classic greene chain.
Bedding & towels were all clean linen, with extra pillows in the wardrobe that were needed.
Easy access with front door to come & go as you please, friendly staff that we did encounter.
The radiator was easy to use and adjust for what you needed - same with the heated towel rack in the bathroom.
Good pressure in the shower and linens provided.
Overall, it’s reasonably priced for what you have access to. Limited space in the room itself: there was basically no surfaces such as a larger desk/table - we just had 2 small side units that were hard to reach due to the layout of the room and 1 small drawers at the front of the room.
We believe the cleaners did attend our room as the bed as been tucked back in, but absolutely nothing else had been done to our room such as empty bins, provide more toilet paper or refill the tea/coffee - this was a bit odd so we would have needed to ask for these. The cleaners also never knocked before they came into our room one day, so this was a bit awkward and upon reflection a tad invasive.
There is a lack of space in the bathroom as well, there seemed to have been a shelf in the mirror, which has since even broken & not replaced so we couldn’t fit anything anywhere - the light above the sink also did not work.
If the furniture in the room got updated it would solve these issues for lack of space, and just a quick check-in from staff we wouldn’t have had anything to note here.
- John (8/5): Prime location, fine stay. - Friendly place with welcoming staff. Busy bar with good service. Lunch was just fine. Location couldn’t be better for that short break. This was second visit in a week as enjoyed the first one during a walk of the Rob Roy Way.
- Monika (8/5): -
- Aymeric (10/5): - Tout
- Neil (8/5): Good value,no fuss hotel. - Central location
- alex (10/5): - Nothing.
- Lyndsay (5/5): It was ok for one night. Wouldn’t recommend - Location. Comfortable and clean rooms. Very run down, could do with updating/ refreshing. Food over priced and not good quality.
- Bineke (7/5): -
- STEPHANE (7/5): Globalement satisfait.
- Samuel (8/5): -
- Diana (6/5): Satisfactory, staff were pleasant but unclean room and tables not acceptable for the price paid. - Location The bathroom in my room had not been cleaned with dirty glasses and teaspoons left on a dirty sink. Shower fell off wall when friend was in the shower. Breakfast tables had not been wiped from night before (beer marks and food on table)
- John (10/5): -
- Sharon (7/5): This hotel is well situated, but would benefit from updating the rooms. - Great location, restaurant bright and specious. Staff friendly. The room was tired and needs updating. Holes patched on wall with different colour of paint. Small hole in bathroom wall. Poor quality breakfast, not quality black pudding, bacon or sausage, solely left almost all of it.
- Rachel (9/5): Lovely place - Comfortable room, spacious and ideal for what we were after.
- Moyra (9/5): Food was amazing and a comfortable stay - Clean, tidy and central No car park
- julien (9/5): Très bien placé - Très bien placé en centre ville, place de parking à proximité, pub très bon à prix correct, très bon petit déjeuner Un peu bruyant
- Carol (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Will definitely stay again - Location, engaging staff, cleanliness, ceiling height , breakfast to order Excellent all round but will choose a room at the back to avoid the small amount of noise from the street
- Gary (8/5): Excellent 2 night getaway. - Very helpful staff, dog friendly, right in the centre of town, great atmosphere, the seating area outside is clean, tidy and pleasant to relax on warm days. Nothing that would merit any negative comments.
- Daniel (7/5): - Centralt lokaliserat i byn. En del biltrafik då hotellet ligger vid genomfartsvägen i byn.
- Jacqui (3/5): Very noisy room - Staff were welcoming and friendly. Atmosphere in the bar was friendly The room was above the pub door and facing a busy main road with traffic well in to the night. These rooms really need double glazing.
Noisiest night ever. Hardly slept.
- Jan (7/5): -
- Houston (9/5): Excellent value for money. - Excellentm . Slight confusion about breakfast times from staff. The layout for breakfast was quite crammed and a larger table would be a simple solution.
- Ian (10/5): Good location with good food and bedroom. - Breakfast and service was good. Time of the breakfast suited us from 8:00am to 10:00am. None
- Vai (1/5): Avoid! - Stuff was friendly Avoid! When pub will close everyone will stay outside drunk and will shout and scream, some will come back to the rooms and will be so loud.
There is no parking for hotel, you need to find place yourself.
Drinks are very expensive, room need proper refurbishment.
For £130 you can find much much better!
- McKinlay (7/5): - Should have had continental Food - very unhealthy menu
- W7671HLmollyp (6/5): certain staff need further training. - i have been to this pub several times now and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and staff however, most recently i have seen a newer member of staff with red hair and glasses, she has been very rude and made uncomfortable comments to people in my life which i find unnecessary - one of them being “would you like that in a wee gay glass” when being asked to make a martini. really unprofessional and i suggest further training.
i would like to add that other members of staff working this particular night were very pleasant.
- DavidR480 (2/5): Not nice - Horrible food, small portions, rowdy atmosphere. Macaroni cheese horrible, was hungry when I left.
- Maria (9/5): -
- Hannah1992Mc (4/5): Some staff are unwelcoming - Me and some friends went into the Waverley for some drinks the atmosphere was good and a nice place, however some staff members were unpleasant and unwelcoming. Taking an order seemed to be like a chore for them!! Would suggest some training for the staff to make customers feel more welcomed and comfortable! Hopefully it’s better the next time we visit.
- Yvonne (10/5): - Was visiting with family great location, very central, dog friendly, food cheap and cheerful 😊 N/A
- Nancy (7/5): -
- Richard (7/5): Comfortable and friendly - Friendly place, nice building. A good shelter from Storm Dave The rooms were a bit dated
- Billy (8/5): -
- Jennifer (9/5): fantastic stay, thoroughly enjoyed and would stay again - The room was very spacious, all the staff were very friendly, the food was very good and good value for money, good location even just for a walk along the street to visit the shops in town very minor things like the fan in the bathroom was really noisy, we didn't have a view from our room as it looked over a flat roof but this wasn't an issue for us
Niets.
- norma (10/5): Fantastic over night stay all staff very helpful -
- Falk (8/5): -
- James (7/5): Callander April 2026 - Nice and central Breakfast wasn't the best and and the room had water damage on the walls it wouldn't take much to put right other than that lovely stay
- Raskolni (5/5): - Nicht viel.
- Giuliana (9/5): - atmosfera scozzese
- Prett (10/5): - Friendly staff & lovely & good value food
- Kalathos (9/5): -
- Murdoch (10/5): Good lively atmosphere and sporting coverage - Food was very good and service was excellent All good

Room clean and comfortable
Good choice of breakfast. No complaints
- Anna (7/5): -
- Anna (7/5): Good - Comfortable beds, clean rooms The checking in n out guy was overbearing.
Poor quality breakfast- cooked food had too much salt added and food was well overcooked. Not fresh.
- Helen (8/5): - Friendly staff Great location in middle of town
- Destination401733 (8/5): Enjoyable evening - Had a lovely meal & drinks, yes it’s not Michelin star but the food was hot plentiful & good quality. The staff were very welcoming.
- David (9/5): Relaxed enjoyable stay, good food, reasonably priced and comfortable bed - Location , room and bar Nothing
- Charles (7/5): It was a one night stay and due to the noise I I’m glad it was - Clean and warm Road traffic noise through the night. No parking dedicated to the hotel. Rigorously adhered to check out check in time
- Neely (8/5): -
- Philip (8/5): -
- Tanya (9/5): -
- claire (9/5): Nice hotel comfortable stay - Fantastic location room clean and quiet The bathroom could do with an update silicone in shower needed replaced
- Austin (6/5): -

- Christopher (1/5): Very unhappy my stay in the hotel. - The breakfast. The shower had fell off the wall , the shower room had mould everywhere the room was dirty, tea stain's up the wall and you change me £140 a night this is unbelievable, never again will i stay there and neither will my friends.
