Guest Reviews
- Graham (6/5): Shocked - - Parking if your car can fit up the drive to the parking area, hotel needs a sign and updating. Rooms could do with a good clean, big of bleach in the toilet perhaps! Also the smell of curry throughout the hotel was quite off putting. Basic and gave us a place to rest our heads for the night, but would not use again.
- Rochelle (8/5): - Very interesting arrangement of rooms, stairs and floors in this house. The room was clean and comfortable, but the shelf/hanging cabinet behind the door was unsteady. The entire place could use a little updating. It is convenient to the rail station, and quiet even though it's on a main road.
- Stephen (8/5): Good comfortable Stay - Great stay . Bed good quiet . Ideal for my quick local visit
- Shila (6/5): Comfortable hotel - Hotel was comfortable but reception not so readily accessible. Had to wake owners up on two occasions around 9am in the morning to ask for extra milk etc. It was not clear how to get hold of them if needed during the day and the staff seemed a bit apathetic when a request was made.
- Robin (6/5): A good night's sleep - The check in process was simple and easy. Our ensuite room had everything you need for an overnight stay. Tea/coffee, towels, clean bed, bathroom and TV. Bed was comfortable. Shower was hot and fresh. The room was just tired, but for the price all was good.
- Helen (4/5): - Did not use shower as tray was brown and shower head was covered in scale. Deep clean needed. Woken at 4.30 am with very loud talking went on till 9.30am
- Anna (6/5): - Sadly the blind were broken completely useless in the room
- Simon (8/5): - The bed was comfortable, and the shower worked. Car Parking limited and path to back car park very narrow.
- Stephen (8/5): - Unstaffed. Basic necessities. Good for price
- Fatimah (2/5): - Dirty rooms. Bad smell. Very old towels, bathroom in poor condition. Dirty carpet. Broken wardrobe, even the door of the wardrobe was broken, you could move the wardrobe with just one finger. Parking facilities were very poor. Just few parkings in the front. The other parking at the back of the hotel were very tough accessible as the path was very narrow. The receptionist was very unfriendly as we arrived a little early she opened the door and without saying hello or any greetings just said 13£ please. Really a very bad experience at the hotel. Never again. Please everybody avoid this hotel.
- Fatima (2/5): - I don't leave negative reviews but on this occasion, this is to save anyone going through what we did.
Bed bugs, toilet flushed out onto to garden! Unbelievable but honestly it was disgusting.
The hotel itself looks lovely, dainty and welcoming but that's about it. No refund or acknowledgement but offered me 5% off for the next booking. No thanks!
- DEBORAH (4/5): - There is no sign outside to say it is the Godalming Hotel, the exterior is very uninviting. The smell of stale food and oil hits you when you enter the building.
The receptionist hardly said a word to me, she didn't show me to my room. The room had a smell of body odour, the bathroom door had been punched in. There were no curtains and the blind didn't work.
You couldn't open the window to let fresh air in as there was a pond with swamp like water in which stank as bad.
Very poor customer relations.
- anita (4/5): Faulty Towers - First impressions ; disappointed at the amount of litter in the private carpark.
No sign to tell us it was the godalming hotel. Generally speaking the whole building was a work in progress it was an unfinished hotel not fit for guests.
Hotelier accessed our room every to empty bin but did not change bedding or hoover the floor or change towels in the bathroom. No latch on window.
- Andrew (4/5): You get what you pay for SADLY... - Just dirty and no fans for rooms or fridges, parking in back was all littered. Folks running the pace just didn't care...In fact when. I went to checkout I knocked on the STAFF doo and seem to have woke them up as the guy answered half naked and just said "throw keys on table" and closed the door in front of me...
- Rebecca (6/5): Drain smell in bathroom - Basic hotel
Fine for a place to stay after a friend party
The bathroom smelt of drains
- Gregory (2/5): - No late check in info so couldnt stay. Disgusting looking property
- Claire (6/5): Door ajar - Lovely little hotel However the room was very hot over night and we found this morning that our door was ajar open.
We instantly blamed each for not locking the door but turns out the latch from the inside doesn’t lock.
- Corinne (8/5): - Check in quick and efficient. Quiet.
- Andy (6/5): Not quite as awful as some of the reviews - Despite the awful reviews I booked the Godalming hotel as we only needed a room for the night. Expectations were low but it marginally exceeded them.
Room was clean and basic. It was a very warm night and there was constant conversation going on outside my window.
The room served its purpose but won't be back.
- Emma (4/5): - Yes it was cheap and i was aware of the shared bathroom facilities. The room was a reasonable size and it was clean enough, though dated. I can accept the confusion about whether or not breakfast was included as I had made other arrangements. But an absolute minimum for any overnight stay is being able to sleep; to have a bed so lumpy you cannot sleep more than a couple of hours defeats the purpose of hiring a room. A comfortable mattress would have made all the difference between a stay that could have been good for the price and one that was actually awful.
- Colin (2/5): - We did not stay because this is place was unsafe, we have taken pictures and would like to share with you.
This is far the worst place I have seen,
We were on the ground floor and our window handle was broken off and therefore the window was always open.
The window was very dirty and cobwebs hanging outside. The window was broken.
This room is not fit to be offered for people to stay, it is a total disgrace and Expedia should not offer this hotel.
Expedia should not be linked to Hotel because you will business.
I had to find another hotel and pay a larger price because we need a hotel on the spot.
Please let me know where you would like our pictures to be issued?
- Steve (2/5): - The staff were non existent the bathroom was in a state in which I have never seen in a hotel before my son got stuck in the shower because the door was faulty on the website it says that it does food and it has free cancellations neither of these are true also the state of the exterior is horrendous the paint is peeling off and the actual sign on the building has only 2 letters left on it I will never be staying there again and I strongly advise you to stay elsewhere
- Nick (6/5): - Simple no-frills stay.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Stank of food being cooked
- Mark (10/5): - A gem of a find for the price
- Sandra (8/5): - Couldn't open a window and there was no fridge
- David (4/5): No welcome and smelly room - There were no lights on outside the property and therefore hazardous. I arrived at 22.15 after work to be told that they close at 22.00. Im not sure what I was supposed to do with this information except to feel unwelcome. The room itself was fine. However there was a dreadful smell in the bathroom which still persisted the following day
- Jacob (4/5): - I was working on a film in the area and finishing late and couldn’t get hold of anyone at the hotel and they wouldn’t let me check in after 10pm so I had to stay with a colleague instead
- Daniels (10/5): - It's was short and comfortable
- Andrew (2/5): - The entrance hall smelt strongly of food. One room had a loud buzzing noise in it when we entered. Turned out to be the wall mounted combined hairdryer/shaver socket, which wasn’t near a mirror, so badly sighted.
While the room had tea/coffee facilities, all double power sockets were badly located so difficult to use. The kettle had to be used behind a bed on the floor and a second kettle base was present for that!!
The bathroom mirror was hung by one hook only which was totally inadequate and at risk of being knocked off if caught when drying yourself. On investigation of the security of the mirror, live wires were found behind, made safe only by an electrical terminal block, which had exposed live parts!!
The other room had a damaged blind which didn’t shut the light out and was on the ground floor. In addition, 4 beeps were heard every minute throughout the night. When this was raised to the member of staff in the morning, the response was “oh yes, it has been doing that for the last 2 months!”
On the morning of the first full day there was no hot water available to either room and to other guest rooms. . As of 1200 on that day the hot water had not been fixed. It was working again by 1900.
Other issues identified included no hand towel provide, missing toilet role holder and sharp wall fixing, windows that didn’t sound like they were closed, poorly fitted door furniture and limited car parking.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Godalming Hotel Experience - Stayed just two nights. Location is slightly interior, good security but Property is getting too old and requires maintenance for some rooms.
- David (10/5): - Another great stay
- Elise (6/5): - Parking is a nightmare if you do not get one of the 3 spaces out the front. Tiny access road, small car width is about manageable but there’s bulk bags & household waste left out which makes it worse.
- Murray (8/5): Overnight stay after a Wedding - Comfortable stay with friendly staff
- Gerry (8/5): - The hotel was exactly as described and very convenient for my job.
- Chris (4/5): Clean the last people’s dinner away - The slat blinds only had 3 slats on it so sun woke me up at the crack of dawn the wardrobe was almost falling down the socket had do not use written on it and there was a old pizza box left in the room a so the windows had handles missing so could not close then
- Sophia (2/5): Dirty and disgusting - Disgusting, dirty conditions. The room was filthy, sink had dirt in and around it with rice floating out of the sink hole of water was turned on. Shared bathrooms were dirty. Room did not look like it had been cleaned.
In the end I found somewhere else to stay due to the conditions.
- Christopher (2/5): - I paid £45 for a box room that had no toilet or showering facilities and wasn’t shown where there, if there was a communal toilet to use.
- Shivam (6/5): - -
- Ross (4/5): Clean - but tired :-( - If it's cheap, it's cheap for a reason! Lady at reception was lovely. The whole building inc the grounds & rear car park are very tired and need desperate attention. "Hotel" was clean, but apart from the lobby, it needs a refurb. Mattress was past its best date - not comfy. No chair for the desk. Despite advertising it provides FREE breakfast, it doesn't serve ANY food, paid for or otherwise. In a pretty good location of town centre and railway station
- Lois (6/5): - The room was adequate and clean with good facilities such as tea and coffee, tv, wifi and hairdryer. It was a quiet room. Space for parking. A cheap room for those on a budget. Hotel was a little run down. I was not given much direction or orientation to my room or the facilities. I didn't have ensuit and the communal toilet was dirty with no sink. The shower was great, good pressure and nice hot water. Overall it provided a cheap room for sleeping which was what i was looking for.
- Graeme (2/5): - It's a dirty, outdated dump with one toilet and one shower shared by 18 tooms.
- Richard (4/5): - Very basic hotel. No front staff. No restocking of refreshments. Hotel is located out of the town centre so a walk or car ride to local restaurants. Easy access to public transport
- Amanda (10/5): Great Stay! - Stayed here for a week and loved it! My room was clean and cosy.
