- John (8/5): -
- Damien (10/5): Great stay. - Friendly host and great staff. Breakfast was the best I've had in a long time and I'm pretty fussy. We unfortunately didn't get a chance to have any other meals on the premises as I had other bookings made prior to arriving in birr.
If I'm ever in the area again I would have no apprehensions about staying again.
Many thanks to all in Townsend house from Damien and Karen. Location is at a busy road and windows just don't block out the noise very well.

- Marie (2/5): Too noisy for small children - I stayed for one night with my two young children. We were put in a room to the front of the building. The windows in the room had gaps when closed which allowed the noise of the cars and lorries driving by to sound like the window was wide open. We were above the restaurant where the music and noise continued past 10pm. Not a great location for a "family room".
- aine (10/5): 10/10 - Martin is running a wonderful guest house with Tapas restaurant attached, I had no reservation made in the restaurant and although fully booked he still was able to fit me in. Martin and all of the Staff in Townsend House are wonderful people, kind and patient. You will feel very well looked after!
- Evelyn (10/5): great stay! - nice big room with love for details above a stylish restaurant / friendly host / very good breakfast in the restaurant / short walk to the Arts centre if you happen to visit an event, walking distance also around town / thank you!
- Grainne (8/5): Good for short stay,. - Good for 1 night. Bed was lumpy but got a few hours sleep. Thank you.

- Medhbh (10/5): - Very homely feel and very welcoming
- ShaneMcDonald (8/5): A great Place to Stay - We have stayed many times before and it is a great place to stay. The room was quiet and had a lot of space. Breakfast each morning was really nice as usual with your order peing cooked especially for you to order. N/A
- James (10/5): Lovely room with antuiquity warm rooms and hot shower. - Breakfast, full irish and fresh from the pan. Bar attached to property but did,nt know it. parking a little far away
- Nina (7/5): - Breakfast was nice, good location Got a room on the ground floor with windows to the main street and behind the hotel's bar, it was quite noisy.
Bed and towels clean but quite a lot of spiderwebs and a pretty big spider in the bathroom ceiling.
- Jill (7/5): I’d definitely return, but would specify a room not on the msin street. - Owner was very welcoming & the staff were all lovely.
The historic townhouses are truly lovely.
The Tapas restaurant was fantastic & the complimentary breakfast was very generous. Unfortunately, my lovely room faced the very busy street so I was up much of the night hearing the lorries passing.
- Graeme (10/5): -

- Mary (9/5): Comfort - Beautiful room, great breakfast, friendly staff. Weather
- Mccallan (8/5): Very good - Food and staff were both excellent. V helpful and friendly. Our room was at the front of the building overlooking a main road. Traffic noise was dreadful making it difficult to sleep.
- Nicholas (4/5): Disappointing - Friendly, helpful staff. Service quick. Food and breakfast good. Tapas style food in evening tasty.Pleasant garden area at the rear with covered sitting area Room at front of house on very noisy main road. Hot day so needed window open (no fan in room) Thin curtains but shutters present . Bathroom smelt mouldy and black mould on grout in places.A lot of plastic flowers!
- Mitzi (10/5): Grand Bed and Breakfast - Martin and Lorraine were both pleasant and kind. It was grand being within walking distance around town!
I highly recommend Townsend House! Only that I did not schedule a satisfactory time for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and I overslept!
- Jb (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic location in a authentic period building.
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (8/5): Very good - The bed sloped on one side and the screws scraped my skin on the side of bed frame and The hairdressers didn’t work.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Veronica (8/5): Very good -
- Keith (9/5): Excellent nothing to fault - What really made my stay so good was the fact that the Guest House also had a restaurant . The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and accommodating . I also was very pleased that Mark, the owner, was able to provide a packed lunch and filled my flask with coffee ! Breakfast at hotels can be hit or miss but here the breakfast, an Irish fry, was obviously just cooked to order and had not been lying around drying out !
- Dinah (9/5): Very convenient for the arts centre and Birr Castle. - Veery friendly welcoming staff. Room and bed very comfortable.
A very enjoyable stay plus the advantage of a tapas bar on site .
Excellent breakfast.

- James (10/5): Pleasant surrounded and owners who made me very welcome. Loved Breakfast - Lovely comfortable room and bed All good
- Niamh (9/5): Superb - Great breakfast and staff easy friendly check in
- Craig (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (8/5): Very good - It is a very lovely period property with many original features and charm. The modern tapas style restaurant added on to the property is very tastefully decorated. Food was nice also. The WIFI in the bedroom was not very strong.
- Paul (3/5): Had a very bad nights sleep due the traffic noise and the heat in the room. Breakfast was ok though. - The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly. Noisy! The front rooms (facing the road) were very extremely noisy at night due to the very busy road outside. The building is old and you can hear everything through the walls. There is also no way to control temperature in the room - the radiators were blasting out heat until after 10. Had an aweful nights sleep here. If you are a deep sleeper and noise doen't bother you, it'll be fine.
- Seán (8/5): Pleasant stay - A lovely central spot in Birr Town centre. For breakfast, they also had a nice veggie option! Our room was facing out onto the main road so it was kind of noisy in the early morning with cars driving by, and people passing by.
- Rob (8/5): Travelling from Norn Iron for conference in Birr - Room and breakfast were good
- Patricia (7/5): Good -
- Ron (8/5): Handy location for a brief stay -
- Murphy (8/5): Georgian elegance meets modern efficiency. - My ratings say it all.

The tapas restaurant is a great space & very popular with guests. We will definitely go back again.
- Mary (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was very enjoyable
- Nicola (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Excellent -
