• Paul (8/5): Ok but would not stay again at that price.!! - Location was good and free parking. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Room was too hot 🥵 opened windows but all we could then hear was an air conditioner humming outside all night.! Continental breakfast was very limited and the bar prices were way on the top end compared to another local pub, The Devonshire, which is a 2 minute walk away.!

The room was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. It was expensive at over £100 a night. The room overlooked a petrol station and a road, it was quite noisy and I needed to use ear plugs to sleep.

• Barry K Vanderhoven (9/5): A Night out in Belper - Excellent cooked breakfast; a little extra but worth it. Lovely spacious room, great bar and kitchen. The Lion is our "go to" pub and hotel when we are in Belper :-) Not a lot to dislike.

• Gary (4/5): Won’t return staff not particularly interested - Location It’s very dated, had to submit my bank card details for security reasons, although this happens a lot as a 58 year old what are they expecting me to do, only 1 towel in the room and smallest shower gel bottle so no foresight to check the room prior to arrival it was clearly booked for 2 people they say hospitality industry is struggling so they should pay more attention to detail sounds petty but it’s important

• Stuart (10/5): Great hotel when visiting Belper. - Very nice room, great size for the family. Very reasonably priced bar. Friendly staff Great breakfast, at a good price. Location Ill complain about the boy racers in the Jet garage next door, and there was a car alarm going off for a while whilst the kids were trying to sleep. Neither a fault of the hotel, but once I had given both a long hard stare everything was OK.

• Richard (7/5): - Great location The noise doesn’t bother us we wanted to be close to town Got the biggest room and it was 2 single mattress and they was really hard on the edges so we had to sleep on one single mattress When you get the best room you expect and king mattress

Bar open until relatively late compared with many of Belper pubs. Although it is located on the main street and next to a petrol station there was no noise disturbance. Included continental breakfast ok but additional cost for full breakfast seemed a bit high given: hot and cold drinks, toast, preserves, cheese and continental meats are already included. Room cost with continental breakfast only was probably a bit higher than I would expect in this case.

• JAG (6/5): One night stay was all we needed so it served our purpose. - Hotel was central to our needs for this trip. It was warm enough with hot water. Bed and pillows were not good quality and felt lumpy. Rooms was not very well presented, badly fitted curtains and poorly decorated. Quite noisy at night.

Bed very uncomfortable and mismatched furniture. Need a bath mat in the bathroom as bath/shower very slippery.

• Glenda (8/5): - A good size double room. Very clean. Comfortable bed. Easy access to town, walks and railway station The shower. There were no grab rails to get in and out. The screen was so wide and couldn't move outwards because of the sink. Therefore it was so difficult to reach the taps to adjust the temperature as the hot water was instant and extremely hot. The bottom of the bath felt unstable even with the bathmat I'd brought from home. With nothing to hold on to it's an accident waiting to happen. Shame really as everything else was lovely.

• michael (2/5): The hotel room was uncomfortable and uninviting . - The bar / pub vibe is good The room unwelcoming , it was old and shabby . The bed was uncomfortable - you could feel the springs . The towel rail didn’t heat up . The extraction fan in the bathroom didn’t work . There was a constant fan like noise throughout the night . Poor breakfast and lukewarm warm tea .

Had evening meal booked - steak pie, veg, Mash and crumble for pudding - main meal £18, pudding £9 - main meal was outstanding - pie full of meat, lots of veg and Mash. Pudding very tasty. Room decent size and clean. If Im' really splitting hairs, our room shower was black with silver buttons surrounding the main rotary control. The logos on the button were very small, I certainly could not read them without my glasses (which I wouldn't wear in the shower). This resulted in me operating various buttons until I succeeded in obtaining a hot shower! Just a laminated sheet with operating instructions (in large print) would fix the problem!

Great location for the centre of Belper, the train station and bus routes. Having a private car park makes it perfect ! • Natassja (7/5): I would stay again. - The hotel was easy to find and perfect that it has its own car park. All the staff were lovely throughout. The stone baked pizza I had in the pizzeria was amazing. I had a room overlooking the petrol station, it was a little noisy through the night because of this. But it wouldn’t put me off staying here again.
