Guest Reviews
- Burkhard (9/5): - Unübertreffliche Lage Aussicht nach hinten ist etwas trist
- allan (9/5): fantastic views and big rooms - It had a fantastic view over Plymouth sound and the Hoe and the rooms were massive that I didn’t stay long enough
- Gloria (10/5): Perfect stay - It was spotlessly clean & had every facility you'd need on your holiday. It's in a fabulous location on the sea front with your own parking space at no extra cost.
It's easily walkable into the centre & just as easy to walk to the barbican.
The bed is comfortable with lovely bedding & beautiful white soft towels.
It was a lovely touch leaving pods for the coffee machine & tea & coffee & even a bottle of milk.
Everything about our stay was perfect 10* We liked absolutely everything.
- KyleJ1229 (9/5): Excellent Location with great facilities - Location was great and awesome that parking was included in the booking. The room was overall clean minus 1 or 2 bits. All the facilities worked and were clean. The booking listing was a little confusing but all sorted when we arrived. Our room was right next to the main entrance and guests would slam it shut.
- SHKITE (10/5): -
- Anthony (5/5): Disappointing and overpriced. - General location is really good - but being at the back of the building in a converted garage wasn’t great at all. Rear of the building. Converted garage. No views. Little natural light.
- Joy (9/5): Excellent location with great facilities will comeback again. - Overlooking the Hoe so very close to restaurants. Living room was amazing as were the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen facilities. People kept ringing our bell for access to other parts of the property. Some of the bedrooms were a bit dusty and the cold tap did not work in one of the en-suite sinks. The very large sofa gave off quite a few feathers which affected my husband. However these were minor inconveniences in a very beautiful property.
- Lee (7/5): - Good location
- Felicity (10/5): Elegant & comfortable apartment with dramatic sea & harbour views - Fabulous apartment with breathtaking views. The 2nd bedroom is bigger than it looks in the photos. We absolutely loved our stay & walking into the magnificent lounge in the morning with the sea vista stretching to the horizon was a great way to start the day. Brilliantly equipped as well.
- Tyler (10/5): -
- Lena (8/5): - A lovely 2nd floor apartment with views over The Hoe and Plymouth Sound. It is very well appointed and equipped for self catering. It is an excellent location for exploring this area of Plymouth within easy walking distance. The cree parking
is a bonus
- Natasha (10/5): Fantastic location & apartment - Fantastic location, everything you needed & a wonderful sleep
- Nicola (9/5): -
- Anna (6/5): Unfortunately it was not as expected BUT Andy was very pleasant and parking right outside - Location Touch up painting left white areas which made it look shoddy in places.pointless smart internet Tv …….not and unable to access any channels as no internet connection.Disappointingand consider £100 + per night
- Jayne (7/5): - Amazing view
- Will (8/5): -
- Speck (8/5): -
- Vicki (8/5): Plymouth visit - Great location. Lovely views. Beautiful building Lots of stairs . Stairs in apartment very steep. 80yr mum struggled. Lift got stuck a couple of times . Despite multiple lights and lamps apartment quite dark. Toilet undef stairs has no proper flooring and vould di with a mirror to maje it seem bigger.
- Christine (9/5): Excellent location! - Superb location and appartment equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay.
- Butterworth (10/5): - All The view was lovely
- Char (1/5): Didn’t let me in and never refunded me - Nothing Didn’t even let me into the property and never issued me a refund don’t stay here definitely better places to stay in Plymouth
- robert (10/5): -
- Mandie (9/5): Super historical and homely - Tasteful
Location
- Mihaela (10/5): -
- Pauline (8/5): Looking to re-book very soon. - The staff were more than helpful, no ask was too small, we were made to feel that they really cared that our holiday went well. We were happy with everything.
- Paul (7/5): Great location, on site staff very helpful, property needs bit of TLC - Location and view Was looking a bit tired, not been in control of the heating,
- Sarah (9/5): 3rd time in this property, will stay again - Very well located, well equipped for short stay Nothing to dislike
- Anne (8/5): -
- emanuel (6/5): Nice location - Location Sofa in the lounge was aesthetically pleasing but very uncomfortable. Lack of fridge space. Lack of utensils in the kitchen. Lack of a second WC as 1 between six is insufficient. Lack of any personal touch to the property such as pictures on the wall. Felt very bare inside.
- James Scott (7/5): Plumbing and parking but overall lovely - Very good location really wonderful and amazing views when you go for a walk. The Parking when we arrived the was over booked but I didn't really understand the over booking as every apartment had a space but not us as must be the two tier kier rules apply in Plymouth as well. If you want to park in street the cost is £2.50 per hour and the restrictions go from midnight to 6am .
The plumbing now where do I start. The plumbing has been installed in a series circuit which means when your in the shower it stops when you flush the toilet or when you use the dishwasher or sink the shower stops working this is a fundamental mistake and is againt building control regulations. This should of been installed in a parallel circuit. The easiest way to describe it is when the you turn your headlights on the car one works and one is dim this not the way it should be done water will follow its easiest route as well as electricity. To fix this you will have to take everything apart. The reason this need to be fixed is the risk to the person in the shower could be seriously burnt.
- Dai Jones (5/5): Disappointing - Been visiting Plymouth for years and have always wanted to stay in these apartments due to their location and the beautiful old building they are set in.....but what a disappointment! The apartment was freezing with no way of setting the central heating to stay on or come on at a set time if you went out and despite contacting Housekeeping and Plumlocations we had no response - the only information we had was by scanning the QR code which only advised pressing the "boost" button which really wasn't practical unless you intended sitting in the apartment all day!
- Carol (9/5): -
- Connor (9/5): -
- Cliff (10/5): -
- Alan (9/5): Loved the place will return - Amazing loved this place would definitely return. Parking.
Shoot me now.
- Jamal (6/5): -
- Pav (9/5): - The location, the studio, clean & attentive service from housekeeping.
The dog bed, bowls & gift. Nice touch.
I've stayed in alot of airbnbs/ rentals & this was probably the best housekeeping. Well done!
Parking right outside the apartment.. brilliant!
Studio was compact & bijou! Tastefully furnished & practical. I probably sound fussy but the only minor point was the washing up bowl in sink. Get a completely dark coloured one!
Taking my dog out for the loo...but it was excercise for us both! So a good thing really.
Sofa bed has a dip in middle but uncomfortable...
- Georgia (8/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Steve (10/5): Large, bright rooms, great views, good location. - We stayed for 2 nights in the Lady Astor apartment on the first floor for my daughter’s graduation.
The apartment is recently refurbished so everything is new. Everything we needed was there, even including a washing machine.
The main room has lovely high ceilings, is large and bright, with fantastic views across the Hoe.
We liked the digital entry, no worries about losing the keys. Nothing not to like
- Kelsey (8/5): Lovely spot, lovely flat, would definitely stay again! - Very comfy and pretty spacious getaway in a lovely location just steps away from the Plymouth Hoe park. The kitchen was well stocked (note: no cooking staples, bring your own salt/pepper/oil) and the hosts did include coffee pods/instant, teabags, sugar, and a box of biscuits, which was nice! The bedroom was of a good size and the bed comfy (on the firm side) and well provisioned with pillows and a thick duvet. The bathroom was lovely - great setup with a nice rainfall shower (though see below - it tended to flood the rest of the bathroom). Easy to get into the property with a door code and good contact with the hosts/good customer service.
Accessibility-wise: note that this studio property is on the ground floor with a steep/short ramp up from the street, NOT steps as in the other properties at this address (door opens inward) so can be technically gotten into in a manual wheelchair (perhaps with help given the steepness of the ramp!); inside you probably wouldn't have much room to maneuver (though I think enough to move between rooms from my experience) and, while the shower is a roll-in design with wand option at a good height for a wheelie, there are no grab bars in the shower or by the toilet. An ambulatory wheelchair user (myself) found this a good place to stay. A little bit of street noise from loud nearby conversations could be a bit bothersome in mornings and evenings, but not bad. The shower (a roll in type with no door) also had a tendency to flood the rest of the bathroom unfortunately, but never too badly.
- Melany (1/5): Reminded me of student accommodation - Location was good Apartment was unclean and smelt with flies
Parking facilities were not clear as said park outside front door … front door is to side of building not at front.
Our apartment was self serve so did not need to go into main building
Raised cleanliness to staff who did nothing and apologised for us getting the ticket as admitted it was not clear from their instructions but advised nothing they could do so we should just pay £100
- Alison (9/5): Great apartment in seafront. - Beautiful apartment, fully equipped, very clean, really comfortable beds, on seafront and at Plymouth Hoe. Nice and not far walk (5-10mins) to Barbican for bars/restaurants. Staff friendly and helpful. We were in oenthouse on 4th floor. The double bedroom has a lovely ensuite with shower. The other 'room' is the attic up very steep stairs, 3 single beds one of which was a put up and it's bathroom facilities comprise a bath in the room, no shower, sink and the toilet you have to go back downstairs for. So we all used the same full bathroom with shower downstairs. It was all fine and the rest of the apartment is great, great kitchen and huge living room with fantastic views.
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- chris (8/5): - Clean, comfortable and close to the Hoe, Barbican and town. Kitchenette and comfortable bed and lovely cleaning staff.
- Steve (10/5): Perfect couple getaway - Absolutely perfect, apartment very clean and warm location is amazing right on the Hoe which has amazing views and walks. Welcome and assistance with parking and advice on where to go was greatly appreciated.
We stayed for six nights early October, weather was kind so we had no need to move the car, The Barbican has lots if bars, restaurants and cafes which were all open and busy The Village Restaurant is superb as is Montys Cafe for breakfast 20 minute stroll all down hill. From here the city centre is a 10 minute walk.
We used the water Taxis a lot for days out walking Cawsand and Kingsand, and Edgemont, nearest pub less than 10 minutes walk offering really good food choices.
The walk back all up hill but a gentle climb, all paved or steps, with plenty of benches and view points if you need a break, not an issue if no mobility problems.
As a middle aged couple this was the perfect getaway offering all we needed.
Steve & Michelle. Nuneaton.
- Jonathan (10/5): Superb studio - Lovely good sized ground floor studio in stunning location. Well equipped and dog friendly. Nothing.
We thought it was a bit pricey when we booked, but it far exceeded expectations and was great value for money.
- Ely (9/5): -
- linda (7/5): Mediocre - The location and parking were excellent and the guy who arranged the parking was fabulous! Overall the place wasn’t as clean as it should be. Bedrooms and bathrooms were clean but the kitchen in particular was grubby! Everything you touched felt as if it had a layer of grease on it. The plug on the oven was sticky with dirt and a few cobwebs in the lights in the kitchen. Also living room furniture was uncomfortable. The room would benefit from some art works. The place could be 5 stars if more attention to details were had!
- Gwenael (10/5): Excellent - Sa situation géographique Pas de wifi
- Daniel (7/5): Convenient. - Spacious accommodation. Great views. Poor lighting.
It was noisy at night…. Need triple glazing in bedrooms.
Need directions for use of convection stove and washer.
The penthouse is a real fire risk for escape. There are inadequate directions for escape and fire extinguishers.
The washer smells of mould.
- Claudia (6/5): Super Lage, Appartement naja, wahrscheinlich okay für UK-Verhältnisse. - Lage ist super Fenster waren sehr schmutzig. Am Boden Haare vom Vorgänger. Einbauküche war total verzogen.
- David (9/5): Perfect Apartment - Fantastic apartment with everything thought if to make our stay perfect! Lovely and clean, super comfy bed.
The biscuits and milk left for us was very thoughtful.
A welcome pack for our dog was lovely. A car parking space was definitely a bonus too.
Perfect location for exploring round Plymouth. -
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Carol (10/5): Excellent location for a Plymouth visit. - Excellent view from the living area. Having milk in the fridge was a nice touch as was biscuits and tea ,coffee supplies, with pod coffee machine available as well. Location was ideal as 20 min stroll to the barbican area. Smeaton Tower and Drakes Island can be viewed from the living area. If you had mobility issues , as the lift only went to the 4th floor the 3 flights of stairs to room 7 would be challenging, as would be the steep stairs to the 2nd bedroom. The bath in the 2nd bedroom was found to be on the small side. Room was used by adults. But master bedroom en-suite was excellent.
- Josephine (10/5): Lovely break. Greeted on arrival by Andy who was friendly and helpful. - Location
- Claire (7/5): Had some terthing troubles that were addressed and made up for - Location is excellent
Facilities good The small attentions to detail could be inproved
- Ms Sarah (10/5): Scenic Plymouth - Perfect location, unparallelled views and great facilities. Perfect home away from home stay
- Golf79 (9/5): Wonderful apartment with a priceless view of the Hoe in Plymouth. - This was a surprisingly quiet and lovely apartment just off the Hoe in beachside Plymouth. The apartment was wonderful with a fantastic view of the Hoe and the ocean. The rooms were light and comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipped. The parking situation - there are limited slots for guests that are supposedly reserved if you do so before arrival. Unfortunately, each day was a roll of the dice to see if a slot was really available. A couple days we had to move red traffic cones in front of a slot to park (maybe these were placed to hold “our” slot - probably not). Also, the apartment only came with limited toilet paper (!) because it was self catering. We were there 6 days and needed more than came with the apartment. My understanding of self catering relates to food and drink - not toilet paper!
- Emma (10/5): -
- Meysam (8/5): -
- Monalisa (10/5): Studio RoomApart - It was a very immaculate studio. Nice little touches ie postcard. Easily accessible for everything. Free parking which is a bonus. would definately recommend and comeback. Property manager always on hand and was very helpful. nothing
- Nigel (9/5): Lovely stay in the Captains penthouse - Beautiful period property in an excellent location to enjoy the Hoe and Barbican, with a short walk to the town centre shopping. Not sure why but the taps in the upstairs bedroom sink were not working. Wasn’t the end of the world as the main bathroom has his n hers sinks so didn’t impact us too much, was fine the last time we stayed there.

- CAROLINE (8/5): Nice place to stopover - It is centrally located - close to waterfront and shop and pubs nearby
We were down there for ferry to Spain We liked it - we would have liked sea view but our apartment was back of building - but didn’t matter and we would stay there again
- Serban (10/5): - Absolut totul👌
- Emmaline (6/5): Beautiful appartment, could have been more attention to cleanliness in the kitchen. - Location, comfy bed, great facilities & free parking. Asked to complete a review while we were there, I noted that the dishes were dirty & that I had to rewash before use. Also the apartment when we arrived smelt of dog. It is a dog friendly apartment & to be fair it had been raining the days prior. I’d of liked my review to have been responded to but it wasn’t & I’ve since been asked to complete many reviews.
- Mc namara (10/5): Excellent - No breakfast Nothing
- Vera Lucia Moreira (10/5): Amazing - So easy to self check in, specially because we’ve arrived very late Nothing, happy with everything

- Michelle (7/5): Great value - Location was great. Loved how they left a little welcome pack for the dog. Really clean and excellent furnishings. There was a clicking noise that continued all through the night and disturbed sleep.

- Beverley (10/5): Fantastic long weekend at a fabulous property! - We stayed here recently as our son was getting married in nearby Mount Edgecombe. This property was outstanding! Fantastic views! Best view of Smeatons Tower just from the kitchen window! Well equipped, spacious, modern, very clean and comfortable beds. It was a hit with everyone in the family. Andy was very helpful. We will be back! 10/10 ⭐️⭐️ Not a thing!
- Georgina (9/5): A lovely stay visiting family with friends. - Spacious accommodation, fully equipped excellent location The steep staircase to the upstairs bedroom was a little tricky for tall older people but would be ideal for children or young people.

- Georgina (9/5): A comfortable stay near to family - The location was excellent and near to my family. Very comfortable bed. I had problems getting through the front door as it was very heavy and you had to push really hard.
Unfortunately the dishwasher hadn't been emptied and there were no biscuits or coffee pods. My grandson emptied the dishwasher for me whilst i sent a text to housekeeping and biscuits and coffee pods appeared the next day. So all good. I am coming back at the end of the month.
- Kay (10/5): - Loved the apartment . It was so clean and comfortable. Didn’t meet any of the staff due to us being in the apartment not the hotel itself but our stay was lovely thank you so much Didn’t like the fact that Plymouth didn’t have much to do we spent most of our time at the barbican
- Alastair (9/5): Well equipped for working week away. - Great central location. V. well furnished kitchen. Quiet. Some of the other flats have sea views; no doubt that's reflected in the price.
