- Sarah (10/5): -
- Dougal (1/5): I need my money back - Booking dot com failed Booking dot com failed. I booked the property, received a booking ref but on arrival it was locked up and no room. I had to have a cold night sleeping in my van.
- Puffin66 (10/5): - Lovely clean ensuite room with friendly staff. Breakfast has a wide choice with very tasty bacon. Had a good dinner in the pub too. Definitely would recommend. For those with mobility issues, beware the bedrooms are on the second floor - no lift.
- Janet (10/5): - Everything ! Nothing ...
- Kristian (10/5): -
- Nina (9/5): - Great Hotel conveniently located off M6 for a break on journey to Scotland . Excellent breakfast and delicious evening meal options.
- Martin (9/5): - Friendly staff very helpful, area was very beautiful. The price in the bar was a bit expensive.
- 86771717ed42704a519de2d28977020e (9/5): Hidden gem - Cosy rooms, great service, comfortable bed, lovely breakfast Nothing
- 8833bc8ea3b471bea3996acd27d47eab (6/5): For our purpose it was adequate but I’d have reservations about a repeat or longer stay, for reasons above. - Excellent location for a funeral at Beetham crematorium, lots of character, great dinner. My brother and I had a double room each. Mine although comfortable was very small for two people and for the price. The other was good except that the bathroom had not been properly cleaned, which spoilt the experience for him (we did report it to the staff and had an apology).
Breakfast service was a bit haphazard.
- cbb304920f56714a92432e80cd4feb2d (10/5): A warm and welcoming cosy pub. - It was beautiful and cosy Lots of steps to get to your room (relevant if you aren’t very mobile)
- 3518c7f93488738821f7b3a50fd669a7 (9/5): Ticked all the boxes. 10/10 - Breakfast was excellent. Location was brilliant Everything was ace
- d60df2cc36307109d36387a848b36fbe (10/5): Sanctuary - Quant, convenient, excellent food, excellent service, special shout out to Lucie who always goes the extra mile to make the stay even more special, she is a star! It’s perfect
- Williamson Manor (9/5): - Food amazing. Room had character and very clean. Didn't really bother me but we had window open all night and the the church bells rang every quarter but ear plugs supplied if you are a light sleeper
- Madge (7/5): - The pub/hotel was quirky, it is an old building and has a lot of dark wood and wooden stairs. We didn’t ask but there may have not been a lift. The boy/staff helped us up to our room with our suitcase on the second floor (top). Bedroom floor was floorboards, probably the originals, the sloped a bit but was ok. Window had secondary glazing which did open. Bathroom was very clean, we had a shower cubical.
We did not eat in the hotel/pub it was very busy and it seemed very hectic so we went elsewhere. When we came back (about 6.30-6.45) it was still busy and people were being turned away for food, so if you are going to eat there then it would be best to book it. Bed was comfortable, and room cosy. The bed was quite high, getting in was a bit difficult.
- Rose (8/5): Easy, enjoyable stay. Thankyou - Easy to get to. Good parking. Nice bar area. Lovely staff. Breakfast was good. I didn’t have any other food.
Accommodation very nice. Bed comfy. Stairs😅
- Stephen (6/5): - Great location and historic building. We do love church bells but they rang on the hour and every half an hour . The ear plugs didn’t work they kindly left. The room was too small and stuffy unfortunately.
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Anita (10/5): Peaceful night in a lovely area, close to our route. - Wonderful. Freshly cooked, breakfast with good ingredients. Great location, just off the road. Peaceful. Not far from Arnside, the coast and some lovely walks with great views of the Lake District. All good.
- Margaret (10/5): - Clean rooms, comfortable bed. Fantastic breakfast.
- Ashlie (9/5): Overall a really lovely place to stay and I would highly recommend. - Lovely inn, excellent food and the included breakfast was really nice. The staff were, for the most part, really lovely as well. One of the young ladies working when we checked in was a bit rude. We had requested twin beds and on check in had a double. It was very easily sorted by simply pulling the beds apart and making one of the beds with new linens but she was very clearly not happy about having to do that. When we came down for dinner in the evening and she was asked by her colleague to bring us our silverware and salt and pepper she was again not happy and actually slammed them down on the table. The rest of the staff were fantastic, so kind and helpful, just this one member of staff was not.
- David (10/5): -
- Derek (9/5): - Very quiet and friendly pub Personal mattress on bed was to soft for me
- Williamson Manor (10/5): Superb - Very quaint older building that has kept its charm and character Nothing to dislike. Loved our stay.
- Robert (10/5): - Nice and quiet location Nothing
- duncan (9/5): - Lovely, homely pub/hotel. Great location to visit The Lakes & Lancs. Coast. The staff are fab. They can't do enough for you. The locals we met were all very welcoming. Don't expect 5* comforts. What you get is good food good hospitality and a lovely warm welcome. The bedrooms have everything you could need. Some would consider it old!! But it is it's 400 years old and they haven't tried to soil that, which makes it a great stay.
- Sharon (10/5): - Lovely location. Super friendly staff. Dog friendly!
- Emma (9/5): Lovely quite night away in pretty countryside village. - Lovely country type pub and B&B in a very pretty and pleasant village. Good food, great breakfast. Allows dogs.
- David (9/5): -
- Catherine (8/5): -
- Shaun (10/5): Charming and comfortable with great staff and food. - Stayed for one night whilst working away. The premises were very charming, lovely pub and restaurant and Olivia who was working at the time of our visit was great. We ate breakfast and evening meal which were both delicious. Nothing.
- julie (6/5): Room small but adequate.. nowhere near enough seating near the only fire, if you are a couple you have hardly any chance - Nowhere comfortable to relax after eating except a neglected room with battered old furniture in Picked mushrooms off the breakfast menu as an option and recieved 2 tiny button mushrooms ..
- Sharon (8/5): -
- Gerri (8/5): Nice hamlet. Lovely staff and good food. Room/decoration very basic. - The staff were amazingly good. Very kind, helpful and efficient. The room was spotless and had a super view of the church over the road - lovely when lit up at night. We were able to walk into the woods from just up the road and there was a nice Garden Centre just over the main road. The food was very nice. The room was very basic and as I was a little fragile due to family illness, it did not feel welcoming. There was only bare boards on the floor and very little furniture - i.e. sparse. The bathroom was very nice however. For the rest of the building it felt tired and needed updating and decorating. Rooms are up 2 flights of stairs, the last one steep with a fire door right at the top - very difficult when trying to negotiate with baggage and a dog in tow.
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect for a one night stop off on the way home. - Everything, apart from the fact i forgot i was disabled when i booked it! 🤦♀️ three flights of stairs was quite a trek, but what a lovely room. Nothing
- William (7/5): Comfortable quiet village location - Nice location very quiet Room rather cold.
- Kevin (8/5): Excellent place to stay, good food, nice rooms and bathroom facilities. - The breakfast was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. Dogs were very welcome everywhere.
The food in the restaurant deserves a special mention, the specials menu had an excellent game stew and the most delicious Lancashire cheese and onion pie, both home made in the kitchen by a chef and a cut well above the microwaved mass produced rubbish served by so many pubs. Well done to all the staff for cooking and serving. The stairs and corridors are a bit tatty and could do with a refresh.
- Patrick (8/5): Lovely, peaceful and great food. - The property looks a little tired from the outside but I received a warm welcome when I arrived with all staff being polite and friendly. My room was excellent and the bed very comfy. The shower was huge. All food was lovely and well cooked. I would personally recommend the porridge with breakfast, superb. Despite being very busy and I had forgotten to book a table for dinner, the staff fitted me in which I appreciated. I loved the notice about the church bells, by the way these did not keep me awake at all. The en suite room could do with a curtain on the window, I know the property isn't overlooked but you can see the car park from the shower - so this works both ways.
- Kerstin (9/5): - Sehr netter Empfang. Saubere gemütliche Zimmer.
- Amanda (8/5): Lovely location. Bed not as requested - Lovely location and great breakfast Only criticism is that we requested a double bed on booking.com It said request was accepted however we got 2 single beds and they moved around very easily due to the wooden floor. My husband fell down the middle of them 🤣
- Sue (10/5): Relaxing, fresh air and walking - Friendly welcoming pub in a small village, weather freezing during our visit, place warm with a roaring fire .rooms are on upper floor with stairs, maybe difficult for some, great food.
- Robert (9/5): - Pleasant location a few miles from M6 to break car journey to Scotland.
Comfortable room and restaurant. Slightly limited menu
- Susanne (8/5): Beetham winter stay - Cosy, traditional atmosphere, friendly staff, great breakfast
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Most enjoyable - A fantastic traditional pub Soft drinks & food condiments/add on’s very expensive
- IAN (10/5): Enjoy staff & amazing staff - Very pleasant stay&very helpful staff.Amazing breakfast & evening meal also. Nothing
- Sue (8/5): A pleasant stay. - In a super location close to Arnside, Silverdale, Leighton Moss RSPB reserve.
- Matthew (9/5): Nice place , great team - Place was lovely in keeping with the village , but more importantly the staff were great and very attentive
- Alice (10/5): Would definitely come again! Lovely place and staff - This place is so lovely and cosy, proper country pub vibes. Staff are so nice and just all round was a lovely stay Nothing to be honest we enjoyed our stay here
- Clive (10/5): Wheatshief Beetham - The village of Beetham is beautiful. The staff were EXCEPTIONAL. So friendly and happy. Having to go home
- Gillian (9/5): - Great accommodation in a lovely location and very friendly and helpful staff.
- Sarah (10/5): Amazing room with a super comfortable bed. Restaurant was superb. - Very good value for money and exceptional staff. N/A
- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic venue for short stay and wonderful bar and food. - Everything! Very comfortable and spotlessly clean accommodation. Lovely pub and bar which was busy and vibrant at all times with wonderful staff who worked hard, were all kind to each other and gave excellent customer service. Everything! Great venue to stay at with dogs, who were warmly welcomed.
- Paul (9/5): Comfortable and characterful historic pub with great food! - Lovely period building with many nice touches from the hop garlands to the stone fireplaces and seeping central staircase. Bedrooms tastefully furnished but usefully updated bathrooms. Staff friendly and helpful and food excellent!
Quiet village location and large car park. Nothing
- David (7/5): - Room was cold and bathroom heater did not work.
- Nicholson (8/5): -
- John (10/5): A great break - Welcoming Nothing
- Linda (10/5): -
- Anthony (9/5): Staff were nice breakfast was good location was nice plenty of parking space - The history and location Nothing
- Mark (10/5): - Great room really comfy bed
Nice food especially the breakfast
- Sarah (10/5): Great food, great stay, great staff! - Great base for travelling from south west to visit the Lakes.. approx 30 minute drive away in a beautiful little village.. it was nice to come back here away from the busy Lakes area.. the accommodation spotlessly clean and comfortable, great food and staff really friendly and welcoming, particularly with our dogs who settled well. Nice little circular 10 min walk for the dogs for a quick leg stretch and the churchyard was lit at night for them to be able to have relief before bed. We found nothing not to like.. if you are not very active then the last flight of steep stairs to the bedroom may hinder you but was not a problem for us. The church bells ring on the quarter hour 24hours (and have done since the 1600’s) it didn’t bother us at all and ear plugs are provided if you need them.
- Carole (10/5): Great country pub & excellent service and staff -
- John (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay here. All of the staff made us feel very welcome and the food was excellent. Our room was spacious and clean and the view over the churchyard was delightful. We've booked for a return visit soon.
- Margaret (10/5): We hope to return! - Can't fault this place. Warm welcome. Small but lovely room.
Fantastic breakfast (items selected and ordered the evening before)
Hot fresh breakfast again served with smiles and friendliness by staff.
We weren't affected by the bells of the old local church (also worth a visit) but earplugs were provided just in case ...a lovely touch. Long climb to our room but well worth it to stay at this lovely place!
- John (10/5): - Me and my partner had an absolutely fantastic stay here , the staff and service was second to none we got looked after from day 1 till the day we left , the food gets a 10/10 the options for breakfast are amazing loads to choose from brought to you with a friendly attitude and wanting to know that you are satisfied with your food the dinners are amazing also ,this constant care and attention and friendlyness is exactly what Ive been looking for which doesn't exist at alot of other hotels ,I'm glad I booked here as I enjoyed every minute of my stay and would love to come back, keep up the great work to the owners they are a credit to the place thankyou.
- denise (7/5): - Very clean and food was good Fire not lit. Windows and doors opened very cold. No atmosphere. Not enough comfy chairs to relax after your meal.
- Pat (10/5): Perfect weekend stay - Great location, lovely friendly and helpful staff. Very clean room. Fabulous breakfast. Everything about our stay was excellent. Nothing
- Jackie (9/5): -
- julian (8/5): - Great breakfast The age and decor of the building
- Mr Neil (9/5): -
- SnosrapParsons (8/5): Excellent if a bit rough around the edges - Staff. Very open and helpful. Fantastic breakfast. Supper a disappointment but they handled it well. Most items run out. No rice. No pies, no burgers etc. like Monty Python! Substitute pheasant burger no to my taste but Roberto soup very good. Didn't mind as they were so open about being very busy so overall a success.
- Maurice (9/5): - Breakfast was excellent Bathroom window could do with a privacy blind
- anthony (8/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): Great overnight stay - A warm welcome when we arrived and were shown to our room. A lovely historic inn in a village setting next to a beautiful church. Our room was comfortable, with a large bathroom and great walk in shower. You are supplied with earplugs for the church chimes but despite being light sleepers we didn’t need them and the chimes were really faint and well muffled by the secondary glazing. We ate dinner in the inn and this was great. We had a fab breakfast in the morning. Very dog friendly. Nothing to dislike
- Joanne (7/5): -
- Rowland (10/5): -
- Alison (10/5): - Great pub/hotel with comfortable rooms that have quirky details. Lovely breakfast and evening meals.
- Holt (8/5): Enjoyable overnighter - Nice old Inn, in a lovely spot. Personal preference, but did not like the breakfast arrangement of listing your individual breakfast requirements the night before!
- artur (10/5): -
- Jayne (9/5): Great stop just off the M6. An ideal half way point on our way to Scotland. - A beautiful old building in a lovely location. Staff were great. Breakfast was delicious. Quiet and clean. Loved the sound of the bells from the church! There wasn’t a blind in the bathroom. The windows aren’t overlooked but it would still be more private/comfortable!
- Nicholas Banks (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Abbé (7/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): - It is a lovely room with beautiful decor. Clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Providing earplugs for the church bells is a nice touch.

- Marilyn (10/5): This is an excellent pub to eat, drink and stay. Really good food - Excellent staff. Food delicious. Setting ideal for stop over after travelling down from Scotland. Walks close by for dogs/walkers.Building full of character and very clean.
- Austin (9/5): Gem of a property in a great location - The Wheatsheaf is an authentic inn. It is a really good period building with complimentary design and decor inside and out. The pub serves decent food and drink. The staff were very good. The breakfast was excellent. The location is also great and the walk around the village, heron island, the mill, the church and to the fairy steps is a real treat. The room is decorated and kitted out very well. Bathroom is great. The space is a little cramped (room 4).
