Guest Reviews
- Troy (10/5): - Great hotel with traditionally inspired rooms. And, there’s a robot that greats you at the reception
- Leonardo (10/5): - Staff were very nice and helpful
- Natalie (10/5): - Amazing hotel with friendly, helpful staff and a beautiful aesthetic!
- Caroline (10/5): - Hotel Resol Kyoto Shijo Muromachi is a lovely hotel located on a quiet street. A nice escape after a long day out. The room is smartly designed and was a comfortable stay. Its proximity to the busy shopping street and public transit is great. There are dining options & a Family Mart nearby if needed.
- jorge (10/5): - Very nice , service is great area is good
- Deborah (10/5): - Hotel had some in-house performances and activities but unfortunately the timing didn't work out for us. Overall it is a very convenient location, walking distance to Nishiki market, and the pokemon centre which was a highlight for my son. Staff were friendly and provided kids slippers and toothbrushes which were cute. Was a comfortable stay!
- Rachel (10/5): - Convenient hotel stay, for one night only. We were able to walk everywhere. No complaints. If you're looking for a large hotel room this is not it, the bed is the main space holder. It is narrow and small, but it was great for us!
- LUCAS (10/5): - Everything was just AMAZING. We would absolutely recommend Hotel Resol Kyoto Shijo Muromachi.
- Bansi (10/5): - Great hotel, great location, lovely staff.
- amelia (10/5): - Lovely hotel in great location, only thing is please be aware they do not clean room every day
- An Mai (10/5): - Convenient location, the room was decorated beautifully and the hotel staff were always ready and willing to help.
- Nahid (10/5): - Small rooms but very nice staff and clean!
- Nicole (4/5): - Really disappointed with this place. It looks very beautiful on the facade but the fundamentals of a hotel are missing. Firstly I accidentally booked for 1 person. Instead of charging me a little bit more for an extra person, they charged me almost half of what I paid on-top of what I had already paid. This is for the exact same room that I had booked. No additional towels or bed or anything required. This is a significant premium for the same room and absolutely no difference to the hotel. They also knew I couldn’t cancel and had no choice. I think this was extremely excessive. We purposely made sure we booked this hotel because they had daily cleaning service but their definition of it was by leaving fresh towels and water outside and cleaning the room after the 3rd night of a 4 night stay. By night 2, we were taking out all the rubbish bins, used cup and used towels outside the room to be cleared. The room is so tiny so we had to clear all these items ourselves. If I wanted to clean my own room, I would have gone to an Airbnb. Not a hotel. There is no safe in the room. I also had to ask the cleaners for more toilet rolls coz we were running out by night 2. Its unfortunate as they do the little added benefits very well. Example of this is they also have shows/ activities in the afternoon for u to enjoy as well as make your own traditional matcha in your room.
- Indira (10/5): - The hotel was very nice and clean. They provided all the necessary amenities. The room had tatami floors which was a great touch to the wonderfully vibe of the interior. I highly recommend stating at this place!
- Daeyeon (10/5): - Nice place and friendly staff members
- Shaun (10/5): - Great location, clean hotel with friendly staff. Excellent value for money.
- Renata (10/5): - Excellent Hotel in a fab neighbourhood! Best location in Kyoto! Everything was perfect!
- Peter (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay!
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Good location. Quiet. Enough space. Enjoyed the cultural experiences they organized. Good coffee
- alice (10/5): - Really good location, about 10 minutes by train to Kyoto’s main station with the metro being about a 3 minute walk from the hotel! The rooms were beautiful with a mix between modern and traditional style! Clean rooms and very friendly staff!! (plus a free coffee/hot chocolate machine!!)
- Sean (10/5): - Especially like their show in the afternoon. Thank you so much for kind services provided.
- Patrik (10/5): Great stay - Fantastic hotel with great location. The room is spacious (for Japan) and a great mix of western comfort and traditional Japanese design. Friendly staff and lots of things to do just a few minutes away. Will definitely come back!
- Yoonjin (10/5): - The condition of the hotel was great and its location was very convenient too
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location
- Michael (8/5): - Great location, easy access to subway and city buses. Short walk to major shopping district.
- Peifang (10/5): - Convinced
- Markus (8/5): - Top location in Kyoto, quiet and central. Very good location to explore the city,
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not a pleasant experience - The room is good with a bit Japanese style and relatively big. However, the service is not as good as expected. After I made the reservation, I sent out two queries separately to the hotel, but NEVER got a reply. The reception staff was impatient. My friend realised she had made a mistake when booking the room when the reception staff asked for an additional charge. She was surprised and tried to verify the issue, but the reception staff was impatient and even laughed at her while she was waiting.
- dorianav768 (10/5): Super comfortable, Above 3 Star service & ambience. - Great stay & fabulous service by all front desk staff especially Fumiya. He was so so helpful & able to answer all questions we threw his way & his understanding of English made it so much easier, he was an absolute delight!
Hotel is located near a few subways & yet in a quiet street & surrounded by many restaurants. The hotel lobby was spacious, clean & had lovely feel & location of the hotel was perfect for us.
We stayed in a Hollywood Twin Room & size was larger than most in Tokyo however in saying that not that much bigger, we had 2 medium/large sized suitcases & 1 carryon & we managed without any issues as we only ever went back to the room to freshen up or sleep. Room was also very clean, with clean towels & bottled water provided daily.
They provided free coffee & ice in the lobby & had a laundry room which were all well maintained & super convenient to have access to.
Would definitely recommmend & would return & stay here however would definitely look at staying at any other hotels run by this group.
- Beatriz (10/5): - I recently stayed at Hotel Resol Kyoto Shijo Muromachi and the beds were super comfy, the staff was helpful. I would definitely stay here again.
- TSZ KEI (8/5): - Good location, nice room and facilities
- Larry (10/5): - The room immaculate and elegant. The staff are excellent and speak very good English. Close to the subway line that runs from Kyoto station 9 minutes away.
- maryjane (8/5): - It’s a good walk to whatever dining, shopping and transport agenda. Taxis are readily accessible with an app, otherwise the place has a quaint atmosphere that’s very different from the other places we’ve stayed at.
- Anthony_JFR93 (8/5): Nice, compact hotel in a convenient location for public transport - The hotel is located directly on the metro line from Kyoto station, which is convenient for travel to and from Kyoto, as well as any day trips. However, the location is not ideal for exploring the Gion district, and I would consider staying at the other Resol location, Hotel Resol Kyoto Kawaramachi Sanjo. Rooms are reasonably small but comfortable and our room had an extremely large bed. Bathrooms are compact. All staff were welcoming and helpful. All rooms had individually controlled air conditioning, which was very effective. Staff were welcoming and good to engage with! In summary, good value for money and an enjoyable stay.
- Teresa (10/5): - Good!
- Aaron (10/5): - Stylish and classy! Staff were welcoming, very friendly and were able to communicate in English.
- yong (10/5): - Nice hotel with good service. The bed is comfortable. And the food from the restaurant also is a nice place for Italian foods. The staffs are nice and helpful. Thank you for all the reception staffs to help me send my luggage to Osaka. Nice room and quiet locations. A lot of good food around that area. Public transportation also easy to access to many transportation stations.
- CarolineSS95 (10/5): Great stay! - Me and husband were so impressed with this hotel when we stayed back in March. It was traditional with a modern twist which we loved!
The room was very clean and the beds were very comfy. It was the little touches that made a difference for us such as supplying water bottles daily, bathroom supplies such as bath salts, toothbrush etc.
The location for us was perfect, and there was a lovely Italian restaurant at the front of the hotel which was a nice change.
Would highly recommend!
- 365brockh (6/5): You pay for what you get but great restaurant in the hotel for a quick bite if needed. Solid 3 - Average AC, our room was at 20 degrees C and it felt like 23 degrees. Don’t stay here if you like everything super clean, dust everywhere and cleaned every 2 days. Overall, friendly staff, decent size room for japan but if you’re a tall person like me it’ll never be good enough. Good restaurant in there for a quick bite. Nice location on a side street, nice and quiet and not busy. You pay for what you get but if you like a clean room everyday and a view and great AC maybe look for another spot which might cost you more but that is up to you.
- Kimberly (10/5): - My husband and I LOVED this place. It’s such a cute and quiet area but has a lot of food options around. The Pokémon center is also down the street. The staff was amazing and so kind! We have to make a special shout out to our guy Terry who was so sweet the minute we walked through the door. He even gave us a gift for our honeymoon! Do not hesitate to book this place. We definitely will next time we come to Kyoto!!!
- Melinda (10/5): - Would highly recommend
- YU CHENG (10/5): - Awesome
- Roberto (10/5): - Parfait
- Ana (10/5): - Excelent option to stay near one of the most turistic spots in kyoto but at the same time far enough to be in a quiet spot
- Narcisa (10/5): - The hotel was very nice and clean, very quiet. The staff was extremely nice, including the reception staff and the cleaning crew. I would recommend to other fellow travelers to replace the breakfast option they offer for 1700 yen with any of the breakfast places around.
- G7836LHgiuliab (10/5): best room ever - I've stayed only for two nights but probably it's my best stay ever! The vibe of the place is amazing, the room are so quiet as well. Great services like washing machine and a microwave and coffee maker in the lobby. Also great location in Kyoto, near the underground and shops.
- Tak Yan (10/5): - A good experience to staying in here.
- SharyH-R (10/5): Relaxing and gorgeous gem, hidden away but yet close - Slightly hidden hotel with a steep descend to reception and the room elevators but what a calming, clean and lovely place! The traditional room flooring, tea set up and all was truly amazing. The staff was extremely helpful and kind and I will definitely return when I come back to Kyoto!
- Carmen (10/5): - Quiet
- Gabriel (10/5): - It was a nice stay.
- Yvonne (10/5): - The staff were wonderful. A beautiful oasis in Kyoto close enough to many of the hot spots!
- Ria (8/5): - Great location but could hear the building works outside from 8am every morning
- Sommelierk (8/5): Fantastic location, small but modern rooms. - Hotel is in a great location with access to subway stations; we were never more than 10 min walk away from a bus stop. Hotel itself is modern and adopts a clean minimalist look. Room is very clean and well maintained - small but perfectly formed. Watch out for shin hitting the bed edge which juts out. Also very dark (guess they are going for the ambience) so difficult to read anywhere in the room. Nice matcha tea. Lobby has a selection of tourist guides and maps, as well as free coffee /hot chocolate / tea. Reception staff are friendly, but the more junior team members could do with more training (one told me my luggage hasn’t arrived by Ta-Q-bin delivery when it was already in the room, one forgot to make a restaurant booking).
Breakfast is in the Italian restaurant attached to hotel - interesting Italian-themed spread, not quite your usual breakfast (Japanese or western). Breakfast baguettes are made to order.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I had a single room. It was very small which I had expected. There were 2 twin beds side by side on tatami mats. There was a long shelf along one wall with drawers and two cushions to sit on. In the middle of the shelf was a raised area meant to be a table perhaps. It was too low to use seated and too high if I was on the tatami. No closet but hangers that hooked into a groove in the wooden bars on the wall. Beautiful bathroom as well as provided robe and very comfortable pajamas. I had nowhere to sit or use my computer except on the bed or on the cushion on the shelf along the wall. That was uncomfortable for any length of time. The window was covered with sliding screens and a shade which was electrically operated. But the window behind was opaque glass so I couldn't look out to see anything. So no way to tell is it was raining or not. It was not the best room for someone staying as long as I did. It would be fine for a couple of nights if you had a small carryon and spent no time in the room other than sleeping. It was beautiful and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful. If I went to one of these hotels again I would get a larger room with a table and chair to sit on.
- Jocelyne (10/5): Nice stay overall - The room was a bit small, it gets messy quite fast cause there is only on luggage stand. The hotel sets a date depending on the length of your stay for the room cleaning but you get a new set of fresh towels everyday at your door.
When we arrived everything was clean. My Bf and I are happy overall. The staff is nice. You get free coffee, tea and cocoa all you want near the lobby. There is a microwave next to the coffee station if you ever need to heat something from the konbini.
There is also a washing machine station near the elevators. It's 100 yen for 30 minutes was and the dryier is 300 yen for 30 mins. It takes about 2 cycles to dry properly.
- 277angharadw (10/5): Beautiful relaxing hotel - Great hotel, room was very spacious for Japan. Big beds and very comfortable, the bathroom had a good amount of space and they gave us a lot of amenities too. Very pleased with this and very good value for money wish we could have stayed longer.
- Tyler (10/5): - Was able to call down to the hotel staff very early in the morning and arrange several taxis throughout my stay there. If I come back to Kyoto I would book with them again, nice helpful staff with great accommodations.
- Man Yee (8/5): - Overall the hotel is rather new and clean with great interior design. Love how they infused traditional Japanese style with modern design. The staff is friendly and professional. The room is beautiful and spacious, with full amenities (they even provided USB charging cable) On the negative side, the wall is rather thin - I was waken up by the noise of someone's yelling/knocking the wall next to me, which is a bit annoying. The last thing - I suspect I've forgotten my hangers in the hotel room after check out, tried to reach the hotel via Expedia to confirm but so far I haven't heard back any reply from them...guess they need to work on their response rate to customers...
- Adrian (10/5): - The staff can be more friendly
- Dereck (10/5): - Staff is amazing. Thank you to the front desk for all of your help and making us feel welcomed
Annars trevliga rum, bra badrum. Kommer gärna tillbaka hit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice property with complimentary coffee and hot cocoa. Coin washer/dryer available. Rooms, which are clean and have a nice Japanese vibe, don't have much room for luggage but it's mamageable. Beds are super compfy, and shower was really good. Safe neighborhood and is a 3 to 5 minute walk into town and the subway. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Mr. Mihara for his hospitality, genuine care and kindness.
- Verified traveler (10/5): I love Japan - Everything was perfect. Hotel staff were super nice, caring and always smiling with warm greetings. I extended my stay bc it was so comvenient for day trips from kyoto and easy to navigate through kyoto. It's a 5 minute walk to Shijo station, which is the subway. You have to take the subway (like one or two stops) to Kyoto station and onward from there. Safe, quiet neighborhood and just a few blocks away from the main road that has loads of shops - both international and local brands -which leads you to a 15 minute walk to gion district. Cabs are readily available, too, and eveey one I sat in accepted credit cards. Thanks to all front desk and housekeeping staff for making my stay so peaceful and lovely. Special thanks to Mr. Mihara for being so awesome and caring- he made me feel like I was family and always had such interesting facts to share about Japan. 10 out of 10 stars from me to Hotel Resol Kyoto.
- OanaNC (10/5): Hidden gem - Great everything: location, design and cleanliness.
Our room was big, with a very nice bathroom. The hotel is next to a subway entrance, so there’s no problem navigating the city.
We really appreciated the traditional design, with tatami floors and we highly recommend this hotel.
- Emmanuel (10/5): - Staff are very courteous and friendly. Room's design (Japanese style) was really good and was not expected. Close to subway train station, restaurants and convenience stores. Room and facilities are very clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Rekommenderar! - Jättebra hotell i Kyoto!
- Deniz (8/5): Really pleasant and comfortable stay in Kyoto - We were pleased with this hotel. The room was a bit cramped and a bit dark, but the beds were unbelievably comfy. Possibly the comfiest bed throughout the entire trip! I always found it very easy to unwind and sleep here. The room was lacking in terms of a view but the matcha kit to allow you to brew your own matcha green tea was a really nice touch. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially when helping transport our luggage to our next place of stay ahead of time. There's also an Italian restaurant right outside. Our stay included the breakfast option from said restaurant but I can't review as we werent able to try it because, like i said, those beds were too damn comfy! The hotel is also conveniently located near travel/metro links and also only a 6 mins walk from a Pokemon Center (extremely important! 🙂)
Overall, would recommend this hotel and a big thank you to all the lovely staff there.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Very good location, superb clean and have wash and dryer on site.
- Sean Patrick (10/5): - Clean new hotel. Professional staff. Well maintained comfortable rooms. Good location bars/restaurants/shops/convenience stores close by. Walking distance for many attractions.
- David (10/5): - A fantastic experience!
- Philip (10/5): - I really did not expect such a nice hotel and room for the price I paid. It was a lot of value for money.
- Dereck (10/5): - Room was amazing!
- vitadelmondo (10/5): Excellent hotel in the centre of Kyoto - I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights with a friend. The hotel was very well situated in the centre of Kyoto at a stone's throw away from Shijo Karasuma. The decor of the place was simple but elegant and it was spotlessly clean. The hotel was generally very quiet. The staff was the most helpful I had ever met in Japan, and that is saying something.
Initially I asked for a quiet room, and they gave me a corner room on the ground floor. One could hear the noise of a fan and smell grilled meat in that room, probably because it was near a restaurant. I went to the reception to ask for a room change. A Mr T. Hanada took me to three different rooms and asked me to choose the one most suitable (!). This was hospitality at its best. I took room 210 and had an extremely comfortable stay.
The only disappointment was breakfast. This hotel did not really serve full Japanese breakfasts, so I had to walk for about 10 mins to Shijo-dori for that.
- linsly (10/5): - The hotel and rooms were beautiful and the staff was very kind and helpful. The hotel was well-located to travel around the city.
- Verified traveler (6/5):
- Ludovit (10/5): Wonderful stay - I stayed at the Resol Hotel 5 nights. The hotel room felt new, clean, stylish, with clear Japanese design elements. All room lights easily manageable from bed, including blinds.Could darken the room to pitch black anytime of the day.
Wonderful stay.Comfortable and elegant.Hotel is located in quiet neighbourhood, yet a few minutes walk from the subway.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was always willing to help. 1 mile to Pontoch... 1 1/2 miles to Gion (seems far but there’s so much to look at you don’t realize how fast you’ll get there. And there’s always the public bus... the staff held our bags for a couple hours on our last day so we could enjoy the city on last time... awesome stay. Will be returning
- Mandy (10/5): - Clean, nice design, friendly staff.
WiFi a bit slow.
- Amyliz91 (10/5): 5 star Hotel! - This hotel is perfect in every way.
Very comfortable and chilled atmosphere.
5 star service from the staff.
Super clean.
Lovely Japanese style rooms.
Good location. Very close to subway and lots of nice restaurants and coffee shops in the area.
I will certainly stay here again and highly recommend
