Guest Reviews
- manuel (4/5): - Badly need repairs shower faucet atc
- YASUHIKO (8/5): - 浴室内でバスタブとシャワーブースが別になっているので便利
- Michael (8/5): Nice hotel near beach and Old Town. - Comfortable stay near beach and Old Town. Staff is friendly but could up their game with respect to info on local sites and transportation. Room was clean and comfortable. Beds are on the harder end of the rather firm Thai spectrum. Food at in house restaurant was good and reasonably priced.
- Glenn (10/5): - Very handy position
- J4939HJmichaelp (6/5): Pretty average for the price - I spent one night here as part of my 2022 north-south road trip.
At a walk in rate of 750 THB it is pretty average as budget hotels go. The negative reviews here are pretty accurate: the rooms are well-worn, dated and require maintenance and a thorough cleaning.
On a positive note: the hot water, air-conditioning, refrigerator worked fine and there were some English Language channels on the television. The room had a water boiler so that was a plus.
There is ample parking for those who self-drive.
Good enough for a one night stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - อาหารเช้าดี
- My1000MilesTV (10/5): Great location and very clean room. - Nice staff, love the room with real Thai style kettle. Big bathroom, clean spaces with good selection of bathroom products. Strong wifi and chilling refrigerator. Love the hill view from my fifth floor. Good value stay and only positive things from my side. Also, good and tasty restaurant just on the opposite side of the hotel.
- 957virginiad (10/5): Lovely - A lovely hotel all round. Large clean rooms, hot showers & all amenities. Off street parking & friendly staff who speak good English .
It is very close to cafes, bars & transport & has a restaurant with room service.
Medium price range
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Near attractions like beach, clock tower, morning market, night market , massage shop, many local food shop nearby too, thumbs up
Staff are friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel facilities are very superb, i request an iron and iron board then later in few minutes comes the hotel staff to my room with all i need😊
The staff also very polite and kind instead we have communication barrier. Very recommended hotel and keep it up👍
- MARK (10/5): Old ,reliable and good value Hotel - The Singora,is an older hotel ,a bit faded at the edges ,eg some of the room furniture is very old.
Saying that, the room was spacious. clean, comfortable but hard beds, good shower ,fridge, kettle and TV with a few English news channels.
Very courteous and friendly staff.
It offers good value for money.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good and clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, good value for money.Happy to recomend and stay again.
- michael (6/5): Tired old Lady!! - Stayed here a few times; staff are good but the hotel needs a serious upgrade to stay in the market. Rooms and bathrooms are tired and lacking power points to charge phones etc. Location, parking etc are good; breakfast is average (coffee is instant ! ) Given its condition prices are a bit too high now with other new hotels coming on stream. I think my last visit!!
- WAH (8/5): - convenience.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room is very comfortable and spacious.. I like all of them.
- Robinson Hooi (10/5): Clean, affordable price, good service - Pros:
Clean, new, affordable price, good service
Cons:
Not happening at this area.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Clean and near beach but not friendly staft.
Great car park
- DetroitGKTK (6/5): Hotel needs some renovation - The hotel is a bit old. The bed has seen better days. When you sit on the bed you can feel the spring. Not good.
The towels are old and shown signs of massive wear and tear. The ends of towel are torn.
No hanging hook being toilet door. Cannot hang clothes in toilet.
The shower head spray has seen better days too.
Not impressed with hotel.
- Dragonfly603 (8/5): Spacious, well appointed, good location - We stayed at this property for three nights, at the suggestion of a Thai-based friend. The room was spacious and clean, had a mini-fridge and hot water pot, bottled water replenished daily, and friendly, helpful staff. We did find the beds a little hard, which is often the case in SE Asia. There is construction taking place behind the hotel, and our room faced that way, however we didn't notice any noise. There's a restaurant/cafe attached to the hotel, but there are many other great places to eat in the vicinity. We enjoyed going across the street to Petang Restaurant; great food and icy beer. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again.
- Raptorhealer1 (6/5): Hotel - Had three night at the Singora Hotel. Room was clean, comfortable and staff very friendly. Good location. Restaurants all around and quaint little Irish pub a block away. Excellent Thai restaurant across the street. Palang.
I would stay there again.
- 182shahira (2/5): Becareful of your data privacy - Found a copy of someone's passport at the back of the laundry sheet. Terrible! This information should be disposed off once guests checks out. You never know what they're going to do with the information. It's Thailand anyway.
- 538nabilan (6/5): Adequate hotel with lovely staff - My husband and I had to unexpectedly stay in Songkhla a few nights and we booked this hotel as it was right smack in town, near all the restaurants and seemed convenient. Compared to the first hotel we stayed at for only a night, this was much nicer. Songkhla town itself is quite sleepy, and not really an attractive destination, but we decided to make the best of it. The room that we got in The Singora was adequate and clean. The hot shower and WiFi worked and the main staff dealing with guests can converse in English (the first hotel we stayed in the staff spoke zero English). The laundry service was fast and efficient and very affordable. The breakfast was a mix of local Thai food (and I mean really local), with a few continental options. We ordered room service which had lovely local food, and the staff were really nice. If they got anything wrong, they'd apologize and tried their best to come back with the right order. It was generally alright. On our last day after we checked out, we needed to get to the embassy but there were no tuktuks (local transport) available, and the reception staff were really helpful. In the end, one of the staff sent us to the embassy with her car, which even though was only 3 mins drive away, saved us the 20 mins walk under the scorching sun. We were touched by this gesture. If you ever find yourself in this town, I'd recommend this hotel.
- NanoNeep (6/5): Odd breakfast - The eggs had been out a while, although fresh ones can be ordered.
Hot dog sausages cut in to pretty shapes.
Rooms decent, although tired, not quite the boutique hotel experience it says in the website
Good coffee shop next door,
- williebafc (8/5): Nice hotel - A nice hotel in a decent location . Rooms are a good size , clean and functional . Wifi is free and works well . Staff are helpful and pleasant so no complaints from me at all . Close to bars and places to eat so no need to travel far within Songkhla .
- petervW6954IL (10/5): Good, comfortable and nice staff - We spend two nights here. It's located in a quiet street within walking distance from both the town center and the beach (mermaid). Rooms are comfortable and clean, hot water is really hot (so be careful). TV has 57 channels and nothing (as usual) unless you're lucky and find an English movie or sports channel (but you're not in Songkhla to watch TV anyway).
Breakfast is alright although I can do without because I know a few very good places for breakfast in town.
Staff is friendly, speaks some English and can help you with some basic information.
If there is a setback, it's that it's quite a walk to the daily nightmarket but that's just inconvenient.
- harryc580 (6/5): Good location - Spent 2.5 months in this hotel. Room clean and comfortable bed. Bathroom old fittings which constantly leak. Hotel staff friendly but english limited and often get the wrong order for room service. Internet "ok" but need to constantly change password can be a pain. Price may be slightly overpriced considering room quality but location is good for local bars & restaraunts (limited).
- pabloaX4770GZ (6/5): Not bad. Well located - I do not know others hotel in the area to compare, but the hotel is not bad for the price. Rooms are clean and with air conditioning but not much more than that. Is well located with bars and some restaurants nearby.
- 957virginiad (8/5): Well priced - This hotel is really well positioned in Songkhla. Very reasonably priced, with large clean rooms, wifi & friendly, helpful staff.
Let down a bit by breakfast. Cold, leftover stir fried very spicy food. There is toast & cereal available for us Westerners though.
- Trogirani (6/5): Maybe the best in Songkhla - Although I rate this place "average" this might be a best hotel in Songkhla!
Beds are not as hard as they are in other Songhla hotels I visited, it I clean and, if there are no parties around hotel, it is relatively quiet (apart from dogs barking under back side rooms).
Bathrooms are not maintained all the time, so you will find cracked tiles, unpainted ceilings and shower drains get clogged from time to time.
Air conditioning works, but it's quite noisy, so you can either put earplugs, or shut it down, but then you wake up in middle of the night as it gets too hot. I regularly put some tape on AC indication light, as it is so bright, it lights up whole room!
Food in restaurant is average, but sometimes they don't have all on the menu, so you are restricted to local foods only.
Staff is the best part of this place as they are always very welcoming and kind.
Another good thing is that it is within walking distance from "Buzz stop" which is really good stake place and they have good cold beer and there are couple of interesting bars, so you don't have to fetch took-took or scooter going back to hotel.
Last time I was there I saw renovations going on at lower floors, so I hope they upgrade their facilities, as place does have potential.
- twodrinks (8/5): Quick and easy - Straight forward check in and up to room 504,
You can see that there has been a refurbishment of the room, which is abit rough in places, and they have put back the old table and chairs. But the room was clean and well kept.
The room was quiet and there were no disturbances during the night, even though the hotel is centrally located.
- Lindy0123 (8/5): Average, Met Expectations - Stayed 3 days 2 nights for a work trip.
Hotel is better than average. Room is clean and comfy, wifi (with password) available, bouncy comfy bed, clean toilet, tv and air-con. Like my room as it is located on the 5th floor as nice morning view when the curtains are drawn across the lengthy window. Room is huge as I had 2 beds to myself, lots of space and chairs. Down side of staying on 5th floor is where the lift is under short maintenance on the day I arrived. Hence, had to climb the stairs to the 5th floor. The lift worked fine after that.
Breakfast is a mix of western and some Thai cooked dishes; very limited western and some Thai dishes (where the dishes changes daily). However, it would be good if there were more "meaty" western dishes like bacon, omelette and sausages instead of the daily bread toast with butter and steamed ham and chicken sausage.
The staff are polite though their English is limited. The hotel cafe serves delicious dishes and a range of drinks (tea/coffee/etc) for lunch/dinner.
Overall it has been a good staying experience where it met my expectations, nothing more or less.
- filipo353 (6/5): Central location , clean but be aware under renovation - I stayed there for the second time on business. The rooms are clean , the staff is helpful. This time they we renovating a number of rooms on the upper floors. This is obviously a positive thing, however the drilling did start at 08:00 , including on Sunday. I suggest you check first if the renovation is on going or you insist on a room on the lower floor.
- Zokbah (6/5): Average hotel, could have been better. - I was there en of May, stayed at the hotel, room is small and the TV is smaller.
This hotel has been refurbished not too long ago, however, they have made lots of changes but have left out small details which is quite a sore to the eyes. Example, faucet in the toilet was not changed, toilet is too small and badly lit.
However, it's quite comfortable with adjustable air conditioning. WiFi works very well and the staff were very helpfull in what ever ways they can help, though their English is very limited.
Breakfast serve is pretty satifying while not lavish.
However, it's a reasonable hotel.
- RichardV212 (8/5): Probably the best hotel in Songkhla - I stayed at the Singora for three weeks on business. It is an excellent hotel with friendly staff and well appointed rooms. The rooms are not enormous, but quite big enough. Good enough to spend three weeks.
The restaurant is good and serves a mix of mainly Thai and farang (western) food. The latter is quite good but not great, in common with many Thai places selling western food. Breakfasts are buffet style and good. There is a coffee/patesserie cafe built into the restaurant which sells good coffee and immaculate looking cakes which are rather rich and no good if you are on a diet. It offers a change from the restaurant.
The hotel is in a good position, round the corner from the Buzz stop, an excellent Irish bar and restaurant along with several other decent bars frequented by the local working westerners.
All in all a good hotel. I'm going to use it again when I am there next.
