Guest Reviews
- Rikard (9/5): - Excellent location. Clean and fresh room, nicely decorated. Friendly host that happily shared recommendations on restaurants and things to see and do. Easy walking distance to ferries and bus to visit nearby villages. A lot of restaurants and bars just outside the door. The entrance to the room is a bit rough. As it is part of a very old building in the middle of the old town. It contributes to the charm but can also feel a bit rough and dirty.
The breakfast is in a nearly located café/bar. The breakfast is good but depending on preference, not so filling (a coffee, a cornetto/croissant, and a juice).
- Bartolomeo (9/5): -
- Guest (10/5): -
- laura (10/5): - B&b in pieno centro storico, con molte trattorie tipiche e negozietti.
Camera pulitissima, molto accogliente e profumata, letto comodissimo.
- Eimear (10/5): - Great service, plenty communication with entrance and etc throughout stay, great location, clean
- Cindy (10/5): Our stay was great we used the accomodation as a base for our booked day trips. Our host was amazing very helpful The Be - The property was a great location for us. The location was very close to the seafront interesting Lane ways and restaurants on our doorstep. The sounds of Italy. A few stairs for luggage. The space contained a shared kitchen lounge/ dining space. Two bedrooms each w en-suite came off the space. Ideal as a two bed apartment. Each bedroom had its own lockup. Nobody was in the other bedroom for the first two nights of our stay. The third night was not a problem we never saw the other person. This type of accomodation would be more suited to younger people. These are just facts NOT COMPLAINTS
- Mari (10/5): - My husband and i really enjoyed our stay here ! Really nice room , very clean ! Ottavio was super helpful and always a text away for anything we needed . Id recommend this place to anyone and would definitely go back !
- Wesley (10/5): Lovely little apartment, has everything you need - The apartment was great
- Jelena (8/5): Very good -
- Shandra (9/5): Comfortable shared apartment in the heart of centro storico! - The apartment was centrally located and very close to my school. The bed was very comfortable and when the shutters were closed it was private. I didn’t realize this was a shared apartment so I unexpectedly shared the main living/dining areas with strangers for a few days. A cleaner was scheduled to tidy up daily, which some might enjoy? but I requested less often since I’m a clean person and it was usually a time I liked to rest. Also the apartment was above a restaurant which could be noisy but I didn’t mind.
- Valeria (6/5): Good - Convenient location, near to seaside, center and not a long walk away from the train station.
Nicely furnished apartment.
A few toiletries and abundant towels available.
Coffee machine, kettle with capsules and teas provided, as well as the fridge supplied with water.
Breakfast offered by bar just a few steps away with good variety available.
Host was thorough and informative, easy to communicate with and available to meet needs. The door lock was a bit of a hassle. The key wouldn't enter/slide/turn smoothly, so locking and unlocking took time. It was also kind of noisy, so we had to be slow and cautious not to disturb other guests.
Drains of bidet, sink and shower quickly accumulate water as they drain very slowly.
Bathroom shower and walls appeared moldy, and corners all around dirty.
The shower handle was broken, as well as one of the toilet flush push buttons.
At a certain hour, leaving the window open was not possible due to the strong smell of spices from maybe some other residents in the neighborhood cooking.
Despite the warm temperatures, the area generally was humid as the sunlight doesn't reach our room in the apartment nor the entrance. This also caused our bed sheets to feel damp at night.
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Breakfast location and pastries were awesome. Apartment was clean and comfortable. Our host (Ottavio) went out of his way to make our stay comfortable. Didn’t like the entrance of building to get to apartment. It was dark and rundown and often the strong smell of cooking.
- Ben (8/5): Very good -
- Jeanne (8/5): - Fantastic location! Charming building and beautiful room. Manager was very nice and made check in easy. We didn’t see the other guests that shared the living room/kitchenette space. So many great dining options so close!
- Dawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cheryl (6/5): Pleasant - Great location No where did it say we would be sharing the unit.
Also my side of the bad/ mattress had a huge dent in it
- Roberta (8/5): Very good -
- Jason (9/5): Superb - Room and facilities were great It was a bit hard to find the entry.
- Susan (8/5): Great place to stay! Definitely would come back! - The location!
The living room/kitchen

- Stefan (7/5): Good - The accommodation is spacious, in the city center, located in a nice neighborhood with restaurants and shops. We did not like the fact that the accommodation is in a very old and dilapidated building, where you can feel the humidity, as well as the fact that the stove in the kitchen cannot be used.
- Christopher (9/5): Very good location - Very good location in the city, and the owner was kind to stay with my wife while I sought out parking. Any parking is quite a distance away, but no fault of the owners. It's a great walking location and very central. The room could have been cleaner though.
- JONATHAN D (6/5): - The serendipity is an economical B&B located in central Salerno. It is convenient to walking around the city and quick access to a lot of restaurants, bars and shops. The B&B is clean and well cared for. The host and cleaning staff take good care and are available if guests need anything. There is coffee and tea available as well as a refrigerator and cooking equipment. We had some issues with the shower and toilet, but the host had a plumber come to try and fix it promptly.
The environment for the accommodations and access to the B&B were not as pleasant. The access is through an alley and up a steep set of stairs. The alley has an unpleasant odour and the doors to other apartments are often open. We felt safe with the security of the B&B. There are two B&B rooms. One is a larger one facing an open area with a restaurant that can get loud at night. The air conditioner, well sealed doors and metal retractable blinds cancel out the noise well. The smaller B&B room faces the alley and has an unpleasant odour at all times. I would recommend avoiding this room.
- Teresa (10/5): - Octavio very welcoming. The apartment is large, tastefully decorated and great amenities. The building itself is amazingly historical. We were very comfortable. Great location!!!!! Enjoyed it all. Steps away great restaurants.!!!
- Alexander (9/5): Superb - Perfect location next to the seashore Drive. The apartment was two guestrooms is fully equipped. However, some cooking tools and a sharp knife have to be organized. Kitchen is not really meant to be used, although it is possible and we did. In short, this is a perfect place for a one week stay, quiet for Italian standards, clean and cozy. Highly recommended.
- Luzmarie (2/5): Very poor -
- Jacqueline (10/5): - An amazing stay in an authentic historic building. The wonderful smell of cooking will stay with me for a long time.
The entrance is an a narrow alley and may seem daunting at first, but the locals are friendly.
Alfredo is such a kind and friendly host. From the moment we booked, he was helpful and available to answer any questions. He was very generous with water, biscuits, pastries etc that were topped up each day.
Italian breakfast was at a wonderful cafe a few minutes away on the main road which was perfect for morning people watching.
The apartment was cute, comfortable and superclean.
The only negative is that we expected a private kitchen as indicated in the photos, but it is shared with another room. As we were out most of the time, it wasn't a problem, but I don't think I'd feel comfortable cooking a meal. This may have been my assumption and didn't really affect our stay. The other couple were friendly, quiet and also out most of the time. Would def stay again without hesitation.
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Great place to explore the region from. - Great position - Alfredo very helpful in finding the property and explaining everything. Clean , modern and comfortable.
- Maravila (10/5): Exceptional - The location is great, right on the old town, near restaurants, bars and the sea. Nice local beaches reachable by public transport (15 min), from the ports you can also travel to Amalfi/Positano for the day. However, Salerno is a beautiful place to for holidays.
I appreciated the free water on arrival. The place also offer tea and instant coffee for free. Refrigerator and freezer available for guest use. Amazing shower. Excellent cleaning staff, keep them!! I would return definitely. Nothing to say. All my stay was great.
- Kaitlyn (9/5): Superb -
- Walker (10/5): Perfect - The host is very kind. Helped me a lot with any information that I requested.
The location is very close to the walking area, restaurants, shops.
The room was renovated and is looking great and everything work properly. Some groceries are available in the shared place. If you open the window you can feel the food smell. (perhaps is close to a restaurant kitchen)
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Location in center of the old town, close enough to rail and ferry systems. Good food all around. It's in a charming, crowded old building occupied by families all around, with the smells and laundry that go with that. There's no doubt you're in Southern Italy. Perfect, in my mind.
- Darren (10/5): Excellent stay - Location, very friendly host, shower Nothing
- Leanne (10/5): Great host, location and space. - All was great Nothing
- Ana-maria (10/5): great hosting, beautiful location - very clean, beautiful location, the host is very nice, perfect for a bigger family /2 families ( 2 bedrooms with their own bathroom and a share kitchen/sitting area perfect for getting together). water daily in the fridge, coffee, and others
- Izel (7/5): Good - Great location Since room is in old building, humidity is high and can not ventilated enough with small windows.
- David (10/5): Very comfortable stay in the heart of salerno, 100% recommend - Everything was perfect, Alfredo was very available and very nice to us! Nothing to report
- Domg hyun (10/5):
- Dumitru (10/5): Excellent location and perfect service. - The space definetely overdelivered to our expectations. We could go out of our home and sit in a nice restaurant to have any meal of the day. Very good service and at a excellent location of the town to satisfy anyone at any time of the day.
- Deborah (10/5): Very nice place with big kitchen/dining area - EVERYTHING NOTHING
- Lynne (7/5): Small comfortable BnB in great location - It’s location & cleanliness and small well appointed bathroom, plus shared kitchen area. No fire alarms. Plus no escape available via balcony if there was a fire as apartment is on first floor and tiny balcony had metal guard rails all over as well as safety shutters on bedroom window/ door.
- Lena (9/5): Good value for money, good location in the old town. Only a small window (claustrophobic). - Alfredro, the host, was very friendly and helpful
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely room, lovely common area, perfect location.
- Leslie (9/5): Superb - Great central location in the old town, so easy to wander and see Salerno. Close to train and ferries. Lots of restauarants nearby. Lovely to have a little lounge/kitchen as well as our comfortable room with the balcony. Tavio was very helpful and considerate.
- Glenda (9/5): Superb - Old, but clean and comfortable, staff were very helpful and friendly. Position at the station was great for us. Not for older people, no stairs 4 stories plus another 2 stories to get to the main road from the station, not easy, especially with luggage.
- Deartola (9/5): Great place place to stay - Great place with a shared kitchen. Room was excellent and the the shower was great. Loved the shower heads! Iwould definitely stay again. The little complex was a bit dirty.
While I really liked the apartment. I wouldn't recommend this place for elderly or people with mobility problems. (This last comment is only a precaution to someone looking to stay here, and not as a negative comment.
- Rory (10/5): - A little tricky to find, so take careful note of the address and check the map beforehand, but worth the effort as it is an absolute gem. Also there are at least two excellent restaurants right beside it - there may be more, but I only stayed long enough to sample two!
- Andrea (9/5): Great apartment! - The apartment is very modern and nice. The rooms are big and the beds really comfortable. It has a small kitchen and a coffee machine. The shower was amazing! and also the owner gave us a card to have a free breakfast in a bar that is very close to the apartment! The owner Alfredo is very kind, he wait us in the street and guide us to a parking near by the apartment. I totally recommend staying here.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - I had a lovely stay at Serendipity and would recommend it to anyone. It is beautifully proportioned and centrally positioned. I particularly liked the typical Italian courtyard entrance. I had an evening train into Salerno which arrived 29 minutes after it should have done and I got lost. The owner’s son came out and found me in the street and took a lot of trouble to make sure that I was ok. The owner was exceedingly kind to me when I asked if I could leave my bags after checkout which I greatly appreciate. Nothing, I shall be returning when in Salerno, which is well worth a visit.
- Paul (10/5): Delightful stay in wonderful Salerno - The property was lovely with everything you could need. Comfortable and very clean with lovely helpful host/staff. Great location Nothing.
- Inês (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (8/5): Nice little B&B with room for little improvements - Very well located and very accommodating host. The room was generally nice and it was very very quiet at night. there was a huge humidity stain on the wall next to the bed with paint peeling off, I recommend they install a dehumidifier. We found some long black hairs in the shower which wasn’t great but we just washed them away. The breakfast could be improved as it was prepackaged toast and wafers with small packet of jam spread.
The B&B has a lot of potential, with little improvements I believe it would be a 10/10!
- Kaue (10/5): Exceptional - Location and the property is nice looking
- Laura (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable and clean apartment in the middle of Salerno. Easy check in and help whenever needed. I would have love some cooking possibities and not everyone wants to go out for dinner every day. Unfortunately there was no chance to really prepare food.
- Paige (3/5): not a comfortable stay - would not recommend. - close to a good ferry port. The location of the property is not the best. If you wish to just use it as a base to travel around the amalfi coast then it is okay. Although it is close to the beach it is not a beach you would want to swim in due to the polluted waters from the marina.
Our room was directly above a restaurant which played loud music late into the night and the window had no sound proofing.
The cleaning of the property was not adequate. When we arrived there was a large stain on the bed sheet and multiple smaller stains on the comforter.
The floor was not clean and to walk on it with no shoes was unpleasant.
On one occasion the cleaners gloves had been left on top of our belongings.
There was minimal wardrobe space and when clothes were left on the shelves of the wardrobe they were covered in dust.
The bathroom is too small to be functional and towels were not correctly replaced each day meaning we were often missing towels.
- Laura Irene (6/5): - Viajé con mi hija. Realmente horrible llegar.
- Deanna (10/5): - Beautiful place right in the center. I loved the old doors, gate and stairways to the apartment. It was the perfect authentic Italian experience. Inside was modern with lovely decor. Rainfall shower was a treat. Espresso machine, snacks and water were provided. Alfredo was extremely nice and helpful.
- james (10/5): - The property is located in a fantastic area of Salerno, on a narrow passageway. The entry is wonderful and timeless. We had the two-bedroom apartment to ourselves, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
- paola (10/5): - The place was amazing and the service exceptional.
It was very nice and we really enjoyed it there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Posizione nel centro storico. Camera ben curata .
- Lorenzo (6/5): Bello...ma casereccio... - Struttura confortevole, in pieno centro storico.
- Kimmo (10/5): One of the best! - The level of service was 5+++! Alfonso was kind to wait us until midnight although we had informed him about arrival at 10 pm. Everything was perfect!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Het huis is mooi ingericht en heel net.Vriendelijke ontvangst.
- Verified traveler (10/5): lets go - Comming back soon to see the light festival
Do il massimo dei voti!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - super stylische Unterkunft, sehr sauber, sehr zentral gelegen in der Altstadt von Salerno
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice room with some rustic charm that goes well in this 800 year old building. Alfredo was a great host and helped us make the most of our stay in Salerno. After the hustle and bustle of Roma and Fireze , Salerno was relaxing and beautiful.
- Jennifer (10/5): Highly recommend! - We loved this B&B! The host was wonderful, meeting us in the street, helping us find parking, carrying a suitcase and explaining everything about the area. If you like a sweet breakfast, they bring you fresh local cakes and pastries every morning - delicious! There is also an espresso machine (so good) in the shared kitchen, so you're not at the mercy of your host to beg for more coffee in the morning. The outside of the building is a bit worrisome at first, but the inside of the apartment is lovely - and the building is 700 years so it has character. It's right in the middle of the main restaurant/shopping district and a 10-minute walk to both ferries (Amalfi and Capri Islands), so location is brilliant. Parking is a nightmare if you drive, but that's just the nature of Salerno. The rooms were clean, shower had awesome pressure, the bed was decent - although we're not fans of the firm, memory foam mattress. AC worked perfectly.
Overall, a fabulous experience and we would highly recommend!!
