• Elijah (7/5): Good - Good The was a power shortage in our room which damaged my cellphone and my dock charger which they took from me, didn’t give it back the dock) and didn’t refund me for the phone repair.
• Stefanie (10/5): - Everything was absolutely perfect and just as described. The little boat trip to get to the island made us feel like a small getaway from our getaway. Everyone on the island was absolutely wonderful and the room itself was beautiful. We enjoyed our breakfast on the balcony and were accompanied by the cat who for hours in the morning. Unfortunately, he didn’t want to join us for the rest of our trip. the zebras were very friendly and curious and fun to watch during sunset. If you get a chance, make sure you grab dinner at the restaurant! Some of the best food we had on our trip.
• Dan (8/5): - We spent two nights on Stanley Island and were charmed by the atmosphere and the wonderful contact with the animals. It is truly a unique and beautiful place. ​Our experience with the service was more mixed, however. Despite mentioning my wife’s vegetarian and gluten-free requirements, the options were very limited, and we were surprised to find the restaurant closed for lunch without prior notice. We had the impression the team was very busy preparing for an upcoming wedding, which perhaps affected the usual attention to detail.
• Claudia (10/5): Gorgeous island, lovely stay - One of the most gorgeous places I have ever stayed at. The staff is lovely, breakfast was great and the rooms are big, bright and really clean. The island is just beautiful and there is so much to do in it and around. Special shoutout to the zebras and Sien the cat, I cannot recommend this place enough!

• Benjamin (9/5): Kurztrip zum - Es ist sehr ruhig gelegen. Einsam auf einer Insel. Hier kann man richtig abschalten. Das Gelände ist sehr grün und weitläufig. Es gibt acht Zebras, die unser Highlight waren. Restaurant könnte besser organisiert sein (teilweise sehr lange Wartezeiten) Frühstück ausbaufähig.

• Amy (8/5): Heerlijk - Ondanks de korte ferry rit voelde het voor mij echt alsof ik even weg was van het vasteland. De zebra’s zijn fantastisch! Het restaurant serveerde lekker eten en het personeel is echt super vriendelijk! Via whatsapp krijg je altijd direct antwoord, wat ook prettig is. De huiskat is erg gezellig. De boottocht was ook heel leuk, met een picknick. Als je niet van insecten in je bed houdt kun je beter je ramen stijf dicht houden, maar dat is met de warmte weer lastig. Ik had er meerderen in mijn kamer. Wat ik echt heel vervelend vond was hoe ontzettend gehorig de kamers zijn. We zaten beneden en het klonk alsof er olifanten boven ons liepen, elk gesprek woord voor woord gehoord en ook toiletgang live te volgen. Met oordopjes konden we wel slapen en was het verblijf toch erg prettig.

• Valentin (8/5): - Spezielle Unterkunft auf einer privaten Insel, welche nur mit einem Boot erreicht werden kann. Das Boot kann jederzeit kostenlos gebucht werden und ist innert 10 Minuten fahrbereit. Unser Zimmer war schön, modern eingerichtet und die Zebras das Highlight. Die Betten waren leider sehr unbequem, die Matratze viel zu hart. Das Personal war freundlich, abgesehen von einer unmotivierten Servicemitarbeiterin.
• Mikelllll (9/5): Unieke beleving - Unieke en rustig locatie. Je zit middenin de natuur en wordt wakker met zebra's voor je deur, heel bijzonder! Kamer is netjes en ruim en van alle gemakken voorzien. Een ferry/motorbootje brengt je naar het eiland. Als je de oversteek wilt maken, hebben ze dit vaak al door en komt de ferry naar je toe. Mochten dit een keer niet het geval zijn, kan je appen en wordt je alsnog binnen enkeke minuten opgehaald. Ook kun je er goed eten met lekkere (locale) wijnen Niets

• Florian (10/5): Besondere Unterkunft mit Zebras „vor der Tür“ - Unfassbar besondere Unterkunft bei/in Plettenberg Bay. Man ist auf einer kleinen Insel gemeinsam mit frei laufenden Zebras und anderen Tieren. Die Unterkünfte sind total schön eingerichtet, das Restaurant unglaublich lecker und klasse Service! Einfach eine Besonderheit! Man kommt mit einer kleinen „Fähre“ vom Ufer aus auf die Insel. Auch da klappt alles einwandfrei mit den Bring und Abholservice.

• Saskia Jill (8/5): Unieke plek met zebra’s - Het begint leuk met een boottochtje naar het eiland. Super leuk personeel, een goed restaurantje, het unieke is echt de zebra’s die in de ochtend voor je deur staan. Op en neer met het bootje naar het vaste land is heel goed geregeld, je stuurt een appje en eigenlijk direct kan je over. De dorpsstraat van Plettenberg is op 8 minuten rijden. Dichterbij zijn er nog voorzieningen als een supermarkt. De douche was het niet voor ons, het was heel koud of heel warm. Maar dat is dan ook echt het enige wat je kan opmerken.

• Claudia (9/5): Bijzonder stijlvol! - Echt een prachtig en stijlvol eiland waar over elk detail is nagedacht! Het eten en de koffie zijn ontzettend goed en het eiland zelf is adembenemend mooi. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam en het heen en weer gaan met de ferry is perfect geregeld via een appje. Ook de overtocht met het bootje is juist een superleuke ervaring! De zebra’s maken het eiland extra speciaal! 🦓 De kamer is vrij gehorig en de gordijnen niet verduisterend, in de ochtend word het dus snel ligt op de kamer
• Suzan En Yuri (8/5): Leuke ervaring en lekker eten! - Lekker eten in het restaurant en een fijn zwembad met speelplekje ernaast voor de kids. Je kunt dichtbij de zebra’s komen en de boottocht van- en naar het eiland is ook heel leuk. De kamers zijn heel gehorig. Wij sliepen in het onderste appartement en konden onze bovenburen elke stap goed horen.
• Katharina (8/5): - The number one asset of Stanley Island are its inhabitants. Having your first morning coffee with zebras around you is more than special and we loved every minute of it. Also the staff were super friendly and went above and beyond to cater to our needs. When we were not happy with the room we were put in, they moved us to a different one the next day without any hesitation. The kitchen is very well equipped, coffee, tea, and milk are provided. The bathroom products they provide are also very nice. The „ferry system“ worked perfectly! The first room we were put in was super close to the pool so everyone else sitting there is able to look into your bedroom. We highly recommend booking a room further down, if you want to enjoy the peace and quiet (e.g. Elegia). In the first room hot water was also an issue, but that might have been due to a water shortage in general. There is a lot of wear and tear, but it’s a small hotel on an island, so that was expected.
• Lisa (9/5): Eine magische Auszeit auf einer wunderschönen Insel - Die Unterkunft ist wirklich besonders. Man wacht auf mit Blick auf die Zebras direkt im Garten. Das Personal war insgesamt sehr freundlich und wir haben uns sehr aufgehoben gefühlt. Das Zimmer war seh schön eingerichtet und es hat nichts gefehlt. Wir würden definitiv wiederkommen! Ein kleiner Minuspunkt gibt es für das Frühstück das inklusive ist. Die Auswahl ist sehr klein und man muss vieles extra dazu buchen wie z.b. Mandelmilch oder Eier zum Avocadotoast. Lecker war es aber trotzdem:)

• Frédérique (7/5): Unieke plek met hele lieve mensen! Maar deze plek verdient nog wat extra liefde & aandacht. Prijs kwaliteit staat nu - Unieke locatie, met een bootje naar het eiland en zebra’s voor je deur. Het heeft hier en daar wat achterstallig onderhoud. Qua hygiëne kunnen ze nog wel wat stappen maken, denk aan: schone douchematten, badkamer die niet overstroomt qua afvoer als je doucht. (Maar misschien hadden we pech). Picknickmand voor 2 personen vonden we beetje karig. Niet gezellig om je croissant te moeten delen.

• Patricia (6/5): Preis-Leistung stimmt einfach nicht. - Unterkunft war süß gemacht und die Ausstattung war gut. Zebras in der Früh :) Pool war nicht sauber, Personal ziemlich unfreundlich. Obwohl das Frühstück inklusive war, durfte man nur ein kleines Gericht wählen und musste für alles sonst extra zahlen. Sogar für ein Ei zum Avocado Brot. Wasser und Buffet gab es nicht. Nur zwei Säfte, Filterkaffee und Tee standen rum. Wirkte alles etwas nach „Off Season“
• Robert Glenn (9/5): Ik kom zeker terug! - De service van het personeel was ver boven verwachting. De ferrydiensten waren 100% top! De gastvrouw Celeste was meer dan 100%. Altijd beschikbaar en snel met het helpen en alles te regelen. Stanley Island heeft aan Celeste goud in handen. Verder alles heel relaxed, ontbijt, avondeten, super! De massages waren ook bovengemiddeld goed en ook de laundry service. Omgeving verder was super mooi en relaxed Klein klein min puntje, avondeten kwam niet tegelijk. Dat is op zich geen probleem, maar sommigen kregen pas het eten toen anderen al bijna klaar waren. Maar verder heerlijk en de bediening was wel weer op en top vriendelijk!

• Nicole (9/5): Ein Highlight auf unserer Reise - Uns hat besonders gefallen, dass wir Zebras direkt vom Balkon aus beobachten konnten – vor allem in der Früh war das ein einmaliges Erlebnis. Es gab Trinkwasser, die Unterkunft war super gemütlich und die Location sehr schön. Die Beach Bar hat uns ebenfalls begeistert. Das Zimmer war toll, und das Frühstück wurde ins Zimmer geliefert, was wir als sehr angenehm empfunden haben. Leider hat uns ein Vorhang oder eine Tür zur Toilette gefehlt, das war für uns persönlich etwas zu freizügig. Das Abendessen ist eher klein ausgefallen, wir hatten danach noch Hunger. Geschmacklich war es jedoch sehr, sehr lecker.

• Christina (10/5): Für uns die beste Unterkunft - Leider waren wir nur 2 Nächte hier aber wir sind uns einig, es war die beste Unterkunft, die wir entlang der Garden Route hatten. Die Unterkünfte sind sehr schön eingerichtet und die Zebras kamen richtig nah zur Terrasse. Organisation der Fähre hat super funktioniert. Außerdem gibt es eine Katze, die gerne zum kuscheln vorbei kommt.

• Judith (10/5): De moeite waard! - Prachtig verblijf die ik ten zeerste kan aanbevelen! Klantenservice is gewoon top! Heb je vragen of iets nodig, dan kan je altijd terecht bij het personeel door simpelweg een whatsapp berichtje te sturen. Zo hebben ze mij ‘s avonds onmiddellijk geholpen met een (gigantische) spin uit de kamer te doen, waarvoor duizend maal dank!! De kamer heeft alles wat je maar kan wensen. Wakker worden met zicht op de zebra’s is een pluspunt! Wij namen ontbijt & diner bij de accommodatie, die we ook warm willen aanbevelen. Het was heerlijk! Niet van toepassing, alles was tip top in orde!

• Ilyana (10/5): - Потрясающее место! Уединенно и тихо, в кафе вкусная еда. Обязательно закажите завтрак в формате корзинки для пикника , это сделает ваше утро еще более ярким. Домик, в котором мы остановились был очень уютным и располагал всем необходимым для проживания. Помимо зебр по территории гуляет несколько котов, один из них очень дружелюбный и спал у нас в домике. Добраться до острова очень легко, паром ходил в любое время, парковка на паромной станции охраняемая, поэтому часть вещей можно спокойно оставлять в машине.

• Antje (10/5): Runterkommen und erholen maximal möglich - Für uns optimal. Brauchten einen Tag Pause. „Gefangen“ in Mitten von Zebras und Ruhe, bewaffnet mit dem lecker gefüllten Picknickkörbchen auf dem Balkon gesessen und anderen beim Grasen zugeschaut. Zwischendrin maximal geschaukelt. Erholung pur.
• Lea-Marie (8/5): - Sehr schöne Unterkunft auf einer Insel. Man wird mit einer kleinen Fähre abgeholt und zur Insel gefahren oder ans Festland. Apartments sind sehr schön eingerichtet und gemütlich. Restaurant vor Ort hatte auch eine gute Auswahl an Gerichten.

• Sven (10/5): - Es ist wirklich ein Erlebnis auf Stanley Island zu übernachten und sehr empfehlenswert. Es fängt an mit der Fähre, mit der man auf die Insel gebracht wird. Die Häuser auf der Insel und die Unterkunft sind top modern und super ausgestattet. Wir haben einen Abend auch dort gegessen und können das Restaurant sehr empfehlen. Die Unterkunft ist sehr gut, geräumig, sauber und modern. Highlight sind auf jeden Fall die Zebras, die bis zur Terrasse kommen. So nah kommt man bestimmt keinem Zebra mehr. Die größte Sorge von uns war der Aufwand die ständige Fähre nehmen zu müssen um nach Plettenberg Bay, Robberg etc. zu fahren. Das ist aber überhaupt kein Problem, weil man auf Abruf und immer eine Fähre auf deine Bedürfnisse bekommt und der Transport keine Probleme verursacht. Unterkunft ist sehr zu empfehlen!

• Theresa (10/5): Traumhaft - mein Highlight! - Mit den wilden Zebras zu frühstücken war mein Highlight ! Wenn man Glück hat , kommen sie ganz nah an die Unterkunft ! So ein tolles Erlebnis ! Ich werde definitiv wieder kommen & die Unterkunft weiterempfehlen.
• Dominik (10/5): Einmaliger Aufenthalt - perfekt, um zur Ruhe zu kommen! - Einmalige Unterkunft dank der besonderen Lage. Trotz der Größe der Insel sehr übersichtlich. Tolles Personal und tolle Zimmer. Das Restaurant haben wir morgens und abends genutzt und können es sehr empfehlen - Preis/Leistung sehr gut! Frühstück inkludiert bedeutet ein Getränk (Kaffee oder O-Saft) und ein Gericht der Frühstückskarte. War ausreichend aber satt wurden wir nicht. Einige Portionsgrößen im Restaurant (Pasta) zwingen einen förmlich dazu, noch ein Gericht zu bestellen. Ansonsten leider sehr unpraktikabel jedes Mal im Restaurant zahlen zu müssen - anstatt dies am Ende der Reise abzurechnen.
• BALOYI (9/5): Just what was needed for ultimate relaxation. - Everything was wonderfully set. Kitchen equipment was on par. The place was very clean and very comfortable. There was no electricity the next morning. Feathers from couch were sticking out.
• Mirella (10/5): Einfach Toll - Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt- Toll morgens aufzuwachen & Zebras stehen vor der Tür,aber nur morgens! Tagsüber sind sie in einer anderen Ecke wo sie ihre Ruhe haben.-Nicht nur die Zebras sind ein Highlight auch die süsse verschmuste Katze & (Kater) der gern mit im Haus schläft & sehr gern kuschelt & sich gern streicheln lässt. Die MASSAGE! TOP!!! Es kamen zwei Nette Frauen für eine Stunde oder 90min. Wir hätten am nächsten Tag nochmal massiert werden können -Herrlich! Das Essen war super lecker & die Kommunikation über WhatsApp ging schnell & reibungslos, wir sind von der Insel ab & drauf. Es war wirklich sehr schön! Kein Moskito Netzt Etwas Hellhörig

• Tim (9/5): Loved the concept throughout! - Loved the whole concept of this island with the zebras and black and white interior with great attention to detail!! The apartment had everything we needed (just curtains or black shades were missing on the windows for it to stay darker longer) and the restaurant had delicious dinner! We also did a stroll on the island during evening hours and tried the lovely picnic and breakfast basket. Staff was very friendly and helpful, communication via whatsapp super easy! We definitely recommend. Curtains for the windows in addition to/instead of the white shades and additional sockets next to the bed would have made it perfect.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by incredibly friendly staff and even surprised with a complimentary bottle of wine — such a thoughtful touch. Our unit was stunning — spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated with so much attention to detail. Watching the zebras grazing right in front of our deck was truly magical and made the experience unforgettable. We even enjoyed a peaceful canoe ride, which was a highlight of the trip. The meals were exceptional — both breakfast and supper were delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. Every part of our stay exceeded expectations. We left feeling relaxed, spoiled, and already planning our return. Stanley Island is a hidden gem and the perfect place to unwind in nature.
