Guest Reviews
- Mireia (9/5): -
- David (10/5): - Nice stay š
Pleasant staff
- jingjing (5/5): -
- Ailen (7/5): Worth it cheap place - Itās a very basic room to stay in. It was clean and the lady who manages the property was very nice and attentive. The outdoor area is a good place to chill. For what you pay is good, but I have the feeling it could be better. The power was on and off, kind of open toilet, too many bugs.
- Richie (10/5): Relaxing - Really liked our stay! Short walk from town but nice because itās in a calm area. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the owner was very sweet.
- Goward (7/5): - You get what you pay for I guess The room was small with no air con, fan just blew hot air, small single bed, bathroom was small aswell
- Quentin (8/5): Very chill - I love the communal area! The bamboo structures, hangmats, three tables with plenty of chairs and a public library with a ton of good books. The free coffee is great, and the free water saved me at least 200 baht (two weeks of 7 eleven water).
The dorm is super spacious, and you have a lot of privacy due to the big cabinets surrounding the beds. The bed is comfortable and big. And there is a mosquito net which works well to block most creepy crawlers.
I really recommend a scooter for the location. The centre is walkable, but at night all the dogs turn into aggressive werewolfs. This is everywhere in Pai so there's nothing the hostel can do about it. You're always safe (from dogs) on a scooter :)
The vibe is really good at the Chilling Hill. Of course it depends on who else is staying, but the chilling area really makes it feel like a second home. There's also a great spot to watch the sunset. As well as a fireplace which brings a great social experience when lit. I like geckos, but there's a lot! If you don't like the noises they make you're gonna have a rough time (maybe all over Pai?).
They infiltrate the dorms too...
- Yahel (8/5): Very good -
- Hiroaki (10/5): Place for chill - Mountain view of chill space
- Charlie (10/5): Chill on a hill :) - Chilling Hill has a lovely atmosphere. Quiet and peaceful due to its distance from Paiās centre. Very friendly kittens were there during both my stays. Ultimately spent over a week at this property and I am glad I did. Free coffee, tea and drinking water is available. Staff are very friendly. The seating area in the garden particularly the upstairs section is a great place to read, write and meditate. Wasnāt an issue for me as I knew people staying elsewhere in Pai but this is not a particularly social place to stay so if friendship is at the top of your list Iād recommend staying somewhere else. The location for me was a positive as I had a scooter for the duration I was there and it allowed me some peace and quiet but to do the 15-20 minute walk to Pai walking street every time would of been a little tedious.
- Ana (10/5): Exceptional - The people who run this hostel are so kind and helpful. I had an amazing time staying at this hostel. I loved that it was outside of the main part of town, because it felt like it was slightly more secluded and quiet, and the animals in the morning were wonderful to wake up to.
- Audrone (3/5): It was not the best fit for me because Iām a solo female traveler and I donāt smoke pot so I saw everything in a differe - Not sure what to say. I was sold one private bungalow, but got a completely different one. DEFINITELY not what was in the pictures. Had to keep my things on the floor and since Iād paid more for a private room I was not happy about the āDIY/build-it-yourselfā experience I received at all. And the location is good IF you have a scooter, but not if youāre traveling solo and arenāt in the mood to walk uphill in ridiculous heat (or adventurous/silly enough to cycle in the are).
- Marina (8/5): Very good -
- Max (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iezzi (7/5): Good -
- Ellis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Masciovechio (5/5): Passable - Location Beds were uncomfortable, no facilities, hard to sleep because a rooster singing all night in the location.
- Li (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet place on the hill. Unlike most hostels, beds in dorms are separated, so you don't have to put up with creaking beds when your top bunk roommate get up in the night... Prices are quite fair. Staff are also helpful.
- Sophie (8/5): Perfect location for a chill getaway in Pai - Lovely chill space away from the hustle and bustle of main town, perfect spot for watching the sunset in a beautiful setting. Free fruit/coffee available, friendly hosts Little bit of a walk from walking street but for the setting it didnāt bother us much
- T (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guillem (8/5): Very good -
- NoƩmie (9/5): Superb -
- Fay (8/5): Very good - Nice clean bungalow. Free tea, coffee and fruit. Hot shower A little far from town and up a steep hill. Best to have a scooter
- Hannah (10/5): Clean and good price - Clean room for a very good price. Short 5 minute ride from main town. Good facilities with free water and coffee and nice outside sitting area. n/a
- Tzvetelina (8/5): Very good -
- Elijah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pit (3/5): Never trust the hippies - The owner canceled our booking, but he helped us to get another room in the hostel next door for 500baht.
In all fairness, his place looks really nice. This may have nothing to do with the hostel, but the owner is a stoner.. we met him at the night market later that day. At first he seemed nice, but it became clear very soon that it was a mask. We wanted to have fun, so we asked him to tell us a joke in thai, but between the lines he told us to fuck off.
We didn't stay at his place, but the way ge behaved is reason enough for me to give a bad review.
- Annie (7/5): Good - The sunsets Stayed 3 nights and tiolet paper rubbish was not emptied.
- Mikael (7/5): Good - Nice hangout area
- Yi (9/5): Superb - Thereās a great place to chill and be with oneself, the kitchen makes the place feel like home, and there are free fruits provided from the host.
You donāt need to pay in advance, so that you can come to the place and actually see the place and then make decisions to stay or not, itās a beautiful idea from the host. š Itās quiet for many people but if you are a very sensitive person, the noise from the traffic still might bother you if you stay in the private rooms. ( dorms are a away better according to my experiment š)
- Giulia (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice bungalow, clean and very comfortable bed. The patio outside Is great, you can chill during the day, watching the sunset and enjoy the quiet at night. Provided with free water, coffe, tea and fruit all.day long. Hosts were great. It's near to the main street, so you can hear Cars and motorbikes also during the night, as Well as nature sounds..It was not a problem for me.
- Simon (8/5): Nice place but mind the cockerels - Nice area to chill in made of bamboo with tables, chairs, hammocks, decking, lines to dry clothes (self serve laundry down the road) and a self serve kitchen with fridge, cutlery/plates, tea/coffee, bananas and free water refills. Chilled vibe and free bike parking on site. Bed was comfy enough and hot water was working. Suggest getting a bike as though it's only a 20 minute walk into town, it is along a road with no sidewalk and felt a little sketchy at night. Was kept awake by cockerels from about 2am every night even though doors and windows were shut.
- Andregg (8/5): This place was great! Itās a bargain, so I didnāt feel that I overpaid or underpaid. There isnāt much to offer for food - The lighting in the bungalow was a bit odd, and the bathrooms werenāt in ideal condition - but hey, itās the jungle.
- Ksenia (9/5): Super chill place with amazing view - The name says it all: it's a really chill place!
And that's what I was really needing!
The hosts are really lovely and generous. There is free fruits they offer and coffe/tea.
There is even a kitchen! You can cook for yourself, which makes it feel really like a home.
The garden is so beautiful and taken care of, there are many cool chilling spots (I love the cat platform to see the sunset).
around in the area some nice cafes and laundry, massage place
Walkable distance from town
The dorm is super nice: I love that it's indivudal beds and no bunk beds. Also, only 3 beds, so really easy to share.
Big lockers to put your things, towels and blankets really cosy. Comfy mattress & mosquito net (although it was too cold for mosquitos when I was there eheh)
- Siobhan (10/5): Great place to relax! - Staff were lovely, always very helpful. Just a 15 minute walk to the town via a shortcut. Beautiful location, great for watching the sunset. The free coffee which is always available is also a nice touch. We loved our stay.
- Yotam (3/5): Not good for couples - The sitting place outside The shower was impossible to handle, and it was near the toilet in a disgusting way.
- Mason (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shuna (8/5): Good - The hammocks and sofas in the yard are so comfortable.Love the yard so much
- Johanna (10/5): Exceptional - The location is a bit outside of the town and very calm. The bungalow was big enough and cozy. The common area under the bamboo roof is especially nice to hang out. There is even a guitar. The owner was very relaxed and friendly and helpful. Would stay again any time. Bed might be a little hard for european standards.
- Stephan (9/5): Superb -
- De (8/5): Very nice! - The view was amazing! You have a lot of space + it's very cozy outside! You have a whole (little) house for yourself (and your friends)
It has a cat š„°š»
The location is beautiful and there are a lot of cheap and good restaurants you can got to! + Long Neck Karen village is very close by!
The owner is very funny and sweet! We weren't able to lock the door from the inside, so we slept with the door unlocked at night.
Wear slippers/flip flops to go to the bathroomn
- Xochilt (9/5): Great chill place, no bad vibes. - Had the best night sleep here, the owner is super chill and happy, they have a beautiful chilling area, showers with hot water if you need it, free coffee and tea (self serve), great place and value for the price, would definitely stay here again. If you donāt like walking and a quiet chill night then this is not the place for you, rooms are very basic but everything was clean and comfortable.
- Nitzan (7/5): Good -
- Hayden (8/5): Very good -
- Tim (10/5): always the best - so far my favourite place to stop in Pai. stopped there 5 times or so. Amazing room, chill zone and location. keep it up brother
- Tomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (10/5): A great place for a relaxing time and very reasonably priced - This was a great place to relax and unwind. For Pai it is very reasonably priced and a good location!
The staff are friendly and very helpful The location was close to the centre but further enough out that it was nice and quiet
- Jake (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jake (10/5): Excellent - Great location. Kind staff. Peaceful and chill
- Jake (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vladislav (10/5): Exceptional - The area is very green, quiet and comfortable. Beds in the hostel are separate. When I arrived, there was no place in the hostel and the owner gave me a personal room for the same price.
- Stephanie (7/5): Peaceful and private - The staff are very friendly and helpful. Peaceful location. The bungalows are very private and the private balcony is great. There is a nice view. Lots of ants come in from under the door in the evening. The fan is noisy and i couldnāt choose the direction. The other guests and the manager often smoke outside, and the smoke gets in the room if you open the windows. But if you close the windows the room is too hot at night.
- Charlotte (8/5): Natural, jungle escape, nice natural rooms, a great experience! - Staff are great! Really beautiful tropical stay, with hammocks and a little tree top perch to hang out on! Really happy with the views and beautiful easy scenic drive into town, a nice natural jungle escape! Great value for money!! Such an experience For the price thereās nothing to complain about, we were really happy with our stay and actually extended twice!
- MarkƩta (10/5): Exceptional - The owner is very friendly, room was comfy, possibke to hang out outside of the room, you can see the sunset infront of the place :)
- Aikaterini (6/5): Pleasant - The room was clean and there is free coffee. A place that smells marijuana everywhere. It was too hot in the room and the bed had a really bad mattress. 20 minutes walking from tbe center and at night is dark. For this price I prefer a dorm closer to the center with air-condition
- Didier (8/5): Very good -
- Eric (7/5): Good - It is a very good price for a private room. The private rooms were really small and the shower was not very hot. It is a little far from the center but itās ok if you rent a motorcycle. Also the walls were really thin.
- Sina (10/5): Exceptional - I stayed in the dorm, it's a perfect place to stay. Nice staff, beautifil view, beautiful dorm, clean, water and coffee included...
- Wolf (8/5): Be sure to pick the right room - The little bungalow was super nice. I can't stress this enough: get a bungalow! Is just a little more than the single rooms and those are pretty horrible The single room I started in. Noisy, you can hear your neighbor's breath and even feel him turning in bed. Also it's super tiny. Get a bungalow!
- Windzberg (8/5): Pretty good -
- Joris (8/5): Very relaxed place - The rooms were amazing and there's a great communal hangout place. There is free water and coffee. The owner is a very relaxed guy and the overall vibe felt exactly like a chilling on a hill. In the communal space there isn't really anything to do except for smoking the weed they sell and many of the other guests did so which made it kind of a pothead vibe. Don't know if that's the usual or if it was just this occasion.
- Jeronimo (7/5): It was ok - The nature around the area Itās far from the shop to have a breakfast, or buy some stuff. Could be good for them offer a pay breakfast šš¼
- Kristian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annabel (4/5): Disappointing - The vibe was good, outside area is nice - room could not be locked
- walls were very thin
- cold shower
- windows werenāt windows
- Bruce (5/5): Passable -
- Tamsin (7/5): Unique stay with amazing relaxing area but a challenge to get to with backpacks - Lovely area to relax in with hammocks and a great view at the front of the guesthouse. Room was spacious. Plenty of parking for bikes/scooters. Drinking water and coffee available for free. Staff were friendly.
Good fans in room. Walk from town centre to property is uphill and challenging with heavy backpacks (we do note lots of other properties are also in this area though).
Quite noisy, able to hear people clearly when inside room.
Lamps would have been good.
- Vicki (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Cute little place with kind hosts and a beautiful view over the city. A nice place to drop out and relax
- Janosch (9/5): Superb - Extremly friendly owner who unfortunately speaks only limited English. Very nice chilling area and good spot for sunsets. Free drinking water and coffee/tea. The bungalows have a small terrace too. I liked beeing a way from the party in walking street. It's about a 20 minute walk or a 5 min scooter ride.
If you want to have your room cleaned during your stay you've got to ask for it. Hard beds. It's close to the road at a hill so the scooters and cars that drive by are quite loud and also there is a rooster right next door that is insanely loud. But you get used to that sound if you stay for a while.
- Leigh (7/5): Good -
- Kristina (7/5): Relaxing and pleasant - Nice location, beautiful hangout space outside
free coffee & free tea!!!
they have hot water in the shower as well The walls are incredibly thin, you can hear A LOT.
the floor inside the room was undone, they put something loose on top, although it didnāt really bother me a lot as everything else was really fineš
- Dani (4/5): Would not return - The common area is nice and brings people together. Cold, extremely noisy - seems like the walls are made of paper, no hot shower although promised.
- Samuel (10/5): I mean, I booked for 3 days and ended up staying 7 weeks so that suggests something XD - Amazing staff, unreal view and sunsets, 1000% chilling vibe. Solo travellers will LOVE the mega-good value private rooms (better than a hostel!) and couples will adore the hella comfy bungalows. I had to leave :(((
- Robert (10/5): Comfort and Community - Very comfortable and lots of community, it was very nice š.
- Janet (9/5): Superb - This place is class ! Also had a great sleep once your used to the roosters !! Staff were lovely. Always welcomed with a smile. The only thing is it's a bit of a walk to the main street but the walk is lovely and your safe as a house in the dark so it's no issue just a point !!
- Indootje (7/5): good enough - good enough for Pai, just outside the centre, 20 min. walk, beautiful garden and communal area to sit, nice enough bungalows
- Thu (7/5): Good - I can go to the Pai downtown for 3 minutes, peaceful atmosphere and beautiful view point here.
- Manon (9/5): Superb - Nice place, quiet and beautiful A bit far from the center
- Jorian (7/5): Ok given the price. - Given the price, it is a fine guesthouse. There is a nice chilling space outside with a good view over the valley. There is free water refill and boiled water for tea and instant coffee. The bed is pretty comfortable. The staff doesn't know anything or speak proper English. The kitchen with meals and breakfast is never open, so you can forget about that. The room and bathroom isn't very clean. The shower doesn't have very warm water. There is no a/c, although there is a fan. Also the staff didn't know anything about the tours or scooter rent they advertise with. It's a 15 minute walk to the Pai centre, which is ok, but no transfer is provided when arriving or departing. The wifi is also not that good. But again, it's cheap as well.
- Jacob (10/5): Best place! - My favorite place so far, nice staff, cozy place, quiet and chill
- Nuria (9/5): Great location and environment for a relaxing stay - The location was great, it is like 20 min from the city center which for me was perfect because I wanted a calm environment.
- Steff (8/5): Very good -
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- João (7/5): Good - Reception was really nice and helpful, cozy place. Room with a mountain view was not that much of a view.
- SzilƔrd (5/5): Passable -
- Georgie (10/5): Exceptional - Only thing is: could have been nice to have access to a kitchen
- Steven (5/5): Cheap but miles from anywhere - Nothing Was given a completely different room which was bigger but didnāt have the balcony, seating area.
- Porter (9/5): Superb -
- Hisuiichan (9/5): Superb -
- Irina (10/5): Exceptional - Loved staying here ! Amazing view and super comfy place. The guy who runs it is very helpful and kind
- Alexandra (1/5): Staff didnt understand what I wanted, gave money back and told me to leave. Shocked and confused. - Only the location, slightly outside the main area in Pai, 10 minutes walk down the hill or rent a scooter. Although I won't recommend this place. Dirty and disorganised. Staff at the reception isn't organised. I arrived earlier to the premises to drop my luggage, after long talk Ive got a room but didn't received the keys because it wasnt available at that time. I paid and went away for a few hours. On my way back, my room was given to someone else. This happened to another customer previously in the same day. I was shocked! staff didn't listen to my needs, and decided to give me the money back and told me to leave the premises.
- Pandao (10/5): Exceptional -
- TomĆ”s (10/5): a place to chill :) - Came for a few days, ended up staying 3 weeks. Very nice place, amazing location, and lovely staff. recommend getting a scooter as itās just slightly outside the center - you can get it cheap right by where the mini bus drops you.
quiet, hammocks plentiful, and lovely upper chill deck overlooking the valley.
Definitely worth getting one of the bungalows with balcony as theyāre more spacious. sometimes chicken go bananas in the weird AMs but I guess thatās mountain countryside life. some earplugs will do!
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Varick (9/5): Wonderful location with friendly owner. Great place to meet people. - Kitchen is available. Coffee and tea too. Great outdoor sitting area. The larger hits share a wall with another property that owns a rooster, so itāll occasionally wake you up early in the morning.
- Florent23 (1/5): Bad - Basic bungalows, good ratio quality/price We stayed 2 nights, and changed our 3rd booked night for another date, 3 days later.
When we came back for the last night, the owner told us there was no more place available for us...
The owner also tried to keep some of the money we had already paid.
- Eduardo (8/5): Very good -
- Ryoma2154 (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable place
- Parkash (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kamila (9/5): Nice and chilled place witch very good price for the value! the owner is super friendly, helpful guy :) I will be back! -
