• Steph (2/5): Health Hazards and poor service: Disappointing stay at best of magnetic island. - Best of Magnet, Extremely disappointing stay – health risk and poor response to serious concerns We were initially pleased with the friendly local transport provided to our accommodation on the other side of Magnetic Island – a nice touch. However, things quickly went downhill. The room had a strong, persistent mold smell from the moment we arrived. We tried running the air conditioning for several hours with no improvement, then contacted Best of Magnetic Island reception. To their credit, they promptly arranged for Glen 20 and a cotton fresh air spray to be delivered and advised us to keep the A/C running 24/7 with all doors and windows closed. We followed these instructions and thoroughly sprayed the room multiple times. While there was brief relief, the air freshener scent quickly faded, and the overpowering mold smell returned, leaving us inhaling chemical spray followed by mild spores—not ideal or healthy. The next day, we called again, raising concerns about nil resolution and potential health risks and the fact that we paid a premium price for an unacceptable room. We asked about relocating to another property while the issue was resolved. Staff confirmed there was availability elsewhere but needed manager approval. After that conversation, we were only offered coffee beans as an odour absorber—despite clearly stating that the smell of coffee makes me physically gag. We were also told to open the doors and windows and blast the A/C at 25 degrees. Problem was—there are no flyscreens, and the unit is surrounded by mosquitoes, toads, and crabs. We love nature, but not inside our accomodation. After trialling every suggestion and still being overwhelmed by the smell, we made the decision to check out a night early to protect our health. At check-out, we were told no refund or reduction was possible as the manager was in a meeting and it would be the owners discretion.

• Jami-lee (7/5): It’s a great apartment! Beautiful location. For the money you spend though you’d hope not to have any issues such as we - The apartment was big enough for 5 adults and 1 child. It had all the comforts of a home! The en-suite toilet wasn’t working properly, the flush kept getting stuck and we had to take the top off the system to get it to fill with water. The accommodation provider was very responsive though and we ended up getting it to work whilst we were there. The pool area was not very clean.

• Karen (8/5): Good but needs some attention - Unit 2. Location was perfect. Beds comfortable, showers awesome! Well enough equipped for cooking. Magnesium pool a nice addition. Well designed. Staff at best of magnetic were helpful when I requested the right sized sheets. Big new mattress but wrong sheets used. It was a bit tired and the cleaning was a bit lax. Just needs a deep clean. Dust and grime on tops of wall clock and picture frames, dirty blinds. Showing signs of wear and tear. Pantry was stiff to open so didn’t use it. Some flooring needs repair, management advised. The outside table was filthy on arrival.

• Jenny (7/5): It could have been better without the stress of worrying about whether we would be able to park. Stopped us from going - It’s a great spot. Opposite beach with netting. Near a coffee shop and small convenience store. Parking. It’s a ridiculous situation. Where there is meant to be a parking spot for every unit but it is not the case when it’s a busy time. Recommend you DO NOT GO AT PEAK TIMES if you have a car. Could be solved easily by marking clearly the parking spot for each unit. Our parking spot another unit owner had placed outdoor table on because it faced the beach. ‘Best of magnetic’ (when we complained) instead of coming down and knocking on every door to solve the lack of parks sent out a text which was useless.
• Christopher (8/5): Other than the aircon issue, everything was great. - Great location, very nice apartment. The air conditioning only worked at about 30% air volume in all of the rooms except the lounge room. In the lounge room, only one vent work out of the two. We contacted the facility about this and were told a maintenance person would come have a look but we never heard back and as far as we know, no one ever came.
• Raylea (9/5): Superb - Location, 3 bedrooms, very clean and private. Wanted a king bed, there was a horrible, loud noise, like a compressor going off every 15 mins or so, it frightened us for a few days but we were used to it by the 6th day. Very loud and startling.
• Stacey (9/5): Superb - The apartment was super comfortable and the facilities were great. There was everything we needed to enjoy a holiday which made it feel like a home from home! The staff were really informative and gave us lots of tips to make the most of our stay on the island.
