Guest Reviews
- Joseph (8/5): Quiet stay - 1 night stop, good value for money. Big spacious room & a great Breakfast
- Betty (8/5): - The staff were friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. Free Wi-Fi, tv in room, facilities for making tea etc were all welcomed. Breakfast choices were good. The room could have benefited from an update but being in an old pub it was better than we expected. Overall delighted with our stay.
- Donna (4/5): - Although functional – dated and not cleaned properly in places/in the room. Bed was very uncomfortable.
- Colin Paul (8/5): - good location for work committment, clean & frendly staff
- Brian (6/5): Manage your expectations - Great food, friendly staff. Good location. Rooms a good size and everything worked. Decor getting tired and matress totally had it. Fiddly locks. Fair price. Just feels like it needs modern make over. The pub element is great just dont expect to be impressed with the room.
- Andrew (10/5): - Good place to stay with friendly staff, great food and drink
- Verified traveler (6/5): New Inn - Welcome was diffident. Room showing its age. Clean but water stain on 1 wall, poor paint job on other wall. Chair had hole in its upholstery.
Meal was good, pizzas looked great. Service friendly.
Needs to sharpen up.
- Howard (10/5): Great budget priced stay with breakfast included - Breakfast included in the price made this a very affordable 2 night stay in a nice quiet location. Part of the Badger Brewery chain with a nice pub atmosphere and typical older pub/building feel. Clearly popular, and restaurant evening choices ok although a little pricier than we are used to for what was actually on offer. Large comfortable room with in-room tea/coffee. Would use again.
- Joni (8/5): Great staff and good rooms. - We had a night here on a long journey with our w6 year old and dog. Rooms are very spacious and although fixtures were old good care and thought has been put into the linen, towels and amenities in the rooms. Had dinner at The New Inn and the meal was quite good and the service from the staff was outstanding- it really made our evening how friendly and courteous they were. Thank you. We had a peaceful sleep my only slightly negative comment would be the mattress was lumpy. But overall value for money and amazing staff.
- Jane (8/5): Character and comfort. Great food - Great country pub with good restaurant. Well equipped, large room with a rather shabby en-suite bathroom.
Would stay again.
- Nicky (8/5): Family overnight stay - 16th century old coach pub, decoration in keeping with style of pub/hotel.
Pub food good selection and throughly enjoyable.
- Julie (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely friendly staff lovely food breakfast and evening meal nice area to visit local places
- George (8/5): Short stay-Getaway - It was ok. Fit for purpose. The room was ok. Some cobweb on light bulbs. Shower was cold unless. Noise from passing traffic but not too bad otherwise its a quiet countryside hideout.
- Kristian (8/5): Happy Stay - Food was lovely, friendly service.
Hotel does need a little facelift inside as it is a bit dated, and the toilet seat came off
- John (8/5): Tired - Heating was on in the room - but at least there was a thermostatic valve to turn it off. Unlike the one outside the room. Required pliers to shut it off.
- mandy (8/5): - The service in this property was excellent. Breakfast was fab and we also ate in the pub restaurant in the evening where there was a wide range of choice, all hearty meals. Rooms are satisfactory. Mattresses will probably need an update soon.
- Linda (8/5): - A super British Country Inn/ Hotel.
Tucked away .
Loved the Restaurant/ Bar area feel. Low ceilings/ Beams . Great character .
A pity the Bar staff were not friendly though .
- Heidi (10/5): - Great pizza and service
- paul (8/5): Weekend break - A pleasant rural pub/hotel.
A nice atmosphere, but room needed a bit of updating.
Very good cooked breakfast and friendly staff.
- Robert (10/5): Comfortable country inn. - Being on a cycling trip, it was great that there was a hose pipe to wash our muddy bikes and a room to store them easily and safely.
Very pleased with the quality of the food and genuinely friendly service given by the team.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great food, lovely room, very clean and dog friendly
- MARTYN (8/5): The new inn - Overall cleanlyness good, staff very friendly, service very good
- Edward (6/5): Mixed Bag - really nice staff and old fashioned pub food and feel. accommodation very dated (inc matresses) and a huge disappointment. Breakfast not to the same standard as the evening meal.
- t (8/5): - A very pleasant stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Rooms were tired and dirty. Wallpaper peeling off walls, damp stains on walls and ceiling, old and lumpy mattress and pillows, noisy plumbing, dirty bath, room door handle flimsy and didn’t appear at all secure, no lighting in corridors - had to use phone torch. Breakfast basic and unfriendly service. Not really fit for purpose.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is a lovely old pub in picturesque countryside. It's on a main road, but the passing cars weren't too loud in the rooms, so didn't disturb. The pub itself was cosy and provided good food.
Unfortunately the room was damp and cold, with dated furnishings. The hot water didn't work and either the sink or the bath was leaking slightly onto the bathroom floor. I didn't get a chance to raise this with the staff before checking out (my fault, not theirs), and as I was only there overnight it didn't seem worth switching rooms. But I think it could do with a bit of a refresh generally, especially for guests who were going to be there longer than one night.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were just lovely and the pub had a lovely relaxed atmosphere.
- Sophia (8/5): Characterful and comfortable. - Friendly service, spacious room for three and very clean. Nice breakfast but small choice of cereals and fruit and would have appreciated toast to be offered after our cooked food. That wouldn't stop us going again though.
- Susan (10/5): Great place. - Lovely from start to finish. Very friendly staff and the food was excellent.
- Thomas (10/5): - We have stayed here a couple of times and do plan to return.
We really enjoy our stay.
The only problem was the Jacuzzi bath did not work and the shower would not turn off in the morning.
Food and service was lovely too
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Rooms very noisy
Breakfast service was rushed hadn’t had chance to look at menu before being asked for order. Food quality was poor
- Garth (8/5): A late night stop over - A comfortable short notice stay and the staff really friendly
- Siobhan (8/5): Nice place to stay - Great pub and food. Breakfast not as good. Friendly staff
- Syed (10/5): - room could be a bit cleaner, toilet rail extremely hot and in an awkward position next to the toilet.
- Adam (6/5): - Fantastic breakfast however the rooms are need of serious renovation, beds uncomfortable and the carpets have stains on
- charmaine (6/5): dated hotel - The Hotel is ok but dated , the pub lovely , characterful . Bar staff excellent customer service , as was Landlord Steve ,who appeared immediately to fix a problem with the shower . However , Lady who was helping with breakfast on Saturday was not nice . loud sigh and crockery thrown in sink when we asked for toast because the eggs and toast served a) reeked of vinegar and b) were not drained , so toast was a soggy mass . First evenings pub meal was returned without any problem , many apologies , but second one appeared with large under ripe not cooked but warm unpeeled pineapple chunk to go with gammon chop . . . .really unpleasant .Had a few problems with room ,such as hospitality tray practically empty on arrival , not replenished , mugs unwashed, bed made ,and towels replaced but room not cleaned ; Apology offered but no reduction offered on bill upon checkout , disappointing . Not worth the money , wouldn't return .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice and close to airport - It was a lovely hotel the food was good and the closeness to the airport was a plus. We had a ground floor room which was great when you don,t have to carry things up stairs.
- sue (8/5): Location a bit isolated you need a car - Evening food excellent although breakfast was terrible no butter available on the table or on the scrambled egg toast. Prices are bit high but evening meal was worth it.
Proprietar was very nice and helpful when I had cause to ring after our stay regarding a problem.
- Sarah (4/5): New inn hook - Room didn't look like it had been cleaned and the toilet was disgusting
- Garry (8/5): Great find - Great find, friendly staff
- Shevaun (6/5): Summer stay - Having stayed before, I found the bed in this room uncomfortable. I also found the external noise level from what sounded like staff late in the night. Disrupted our sleep, leaving me having a fitful night sleep which was not what I had wanted before a long day of travelling. I have used this venue before successfully for collecting family and friends from Heathrow before returning to Devon. I will in future be specific with which room number I would like to book. The food however, for dinner as always, was outstanding.
- Andrew (8/5): Convenient for our needs - Friendly helpful staff and good food. Would stay again.
- Jamie (6/5): Needs a refurb - I only stayed for one night, whilst not the worst place to stay it wasn't the best. WiFi was extremely poor in the room but ok in the bar. Food was nice, beer was poor. The rooms are very dated and didn't feel clean (although this could be more due to their age). Would I stay again? In a pinch yes but not out of choice
- Warren (10/5): - Very nice people the service was good, and the food was great. Would visit here again should i be i the area in future.
- nana (2/5): New inn - Awful. When you did FIND staff they were nice and friendly. The place however was so outdated. Dried blood in the rooms, mosquitoes and insects when your sleeping. No fan or air con. Bathroom was absolutely filthy and so were the sheets. It was just soo nasty. Will never come again or recommend to anyone. For £100 I could have got a nicer place at holiday inn if they all weren’t booked up!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Business trip, food/bar good, accom needs TLC - Nice atmosphere and great hosts. Rooms a little tired and in need of some carpeting and a freshen up.
Food very good and a pleasant stay in a remote setting.
- Rosalie (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place for a reasonably priced night away. Great value nice hotel and good beer
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely food !!! Staff very friendly and so helpful... Room was lovely... would definitely stay again !!
- Karl (6/5): Okay - Slightly dated rooms which could do with a bit of tlc , nice place though
- Kevin (10/5): Really good experience, will definitely return - Lovley stay at the New Inn, really nice big room, powerful shower, loads of parking, excellent breakfast and quick service. Will definitely be coming back, thank you.
