Guest Reviews
- Amy (9/5): Lovely getaway - Quaint and charming Bar service underwhelming
- Gjergji (9/5): - The old style
- Christina (10/5): Lovely historical inn with in-house restaurant, friendly staff and beautiful grounds. - The history of the inn and its beauty. The innkeeper and assistant were very welcoming. Nothing!
- Haas (8/5): Need excellent dinner foods prepared! Otherwise awesome. Bartenders overworked and stressed - The restaurant was disappointing. Food not as described on menu. Everything else about this place is fantastic! If you get a great chef and someone to cook a nice breakfast other than pastries ( which were great but just sugary goodness options) this place would be soo wonderful.
- Eugene (8/5): - Breakfast is mostly pastries, so don't expect the typical hotel continental. Hotel has older rooms that are charming and comfortable. The restaurant is excellent. I would choose this hotel over the local chains. They could us a cereal or oatmeal option for breakfast.
- Melissa (10/5): - Very charming. They were so accommodating. We hope to stay there again. Next time we would like try the restaurant.
- Caroline (10/5): I really loved our stay - Beautiful property, amazing food and staff Only comment is that the sheets in the Franklin Suite were polyester and I would expect a high grade cotton.
- r f (9/5): Very enjoyable -
- Nancy Young (7/5): - Lovely setting; great service; great coffee & pastries We were disappointed to have our bathroom sink in the bedroom.
- Bronwyn (10/5): Wonderful - Very nice! Jessica is a doll! Loved speaking with her! A protein based breakfast is more our style but the continental options were very nice.
- Tara (10/5): Relaxing and enjoyable stay. - Comfortable and welcoming. The staff is wonderful. We enjoyed the restaurant.
- Haining (9/5): -
- Michael (10/5): - It was very nice, courteous and attentive staff. The bed could have been better, seemed old.
- Sisir (9/5): Superb -
- Bruce (10/5): - Charming, quiet, plenty of parking, great menu and lovely staff.
- Frank (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (8/5): Very good - I suggest offering breakfast as a buffet rather than table service. The baked goods were very good.
- Paige (10/5): A great clean place to stay with amazing food. - We absolutely loved our stay at the General Warren. The staff was exceptional! They were all kind, friendly, and helpful. The place was beautiful, and the food was amazing.
- Mike (10/5): We will definitely be back! - We throughly enjoyed our time at The General Warren. The staff were attentive and very friendly. The food was exceptional!
- Fred (10/5): Pleasantly Surprised - We were in the Malvern area for a family event. Because one of our gatherings was to be dinner at the Inne, we found it convenient to stay at the General Warren Inne. Not that I anticipated poor accommodations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy suite and the kind, courteous staff. Also, the dinner Saturday evening was very good. Again, staff who worked the private room was great. I want to specifically complement a young lady named Andrea.
- Carolyn (10/5): - A classic stay in an historic inn. Beautiful suite. Excellent restaurant and bar, with lovely outside seating. Very nice breakfast. We’d love to come back.
- Jennifer (10/5): Warm and welcoming. We would stay again. - It was just as advertised. The welcome was warm and we got to choose our room after seeing them ( this doesn’t always happen, but it was wonderful to see them all). They all had their charm, but we chose the Warren. It was amazing . The shower was small, but had hot water and wonderful pressure. The bed was super comfy and the sitting area was perfect for a couple. The check in and check out were smooth. Breakfast was yummy and everyone associated with the property was wonderful and welcoming. N/A
- Ron (6/5): Pleasant stay with a few quirks. - Nice sitting area and location. Breakfast was good. Dining room where we ate breakfast with all the windows was enjoyable. Mattress was hard and room smelled like smoke. Shower was tiny. Carpet was very soiled.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (9/5): Wonderful stay at an historic and very quiet inn. - A very quiet location. Great history, with a book documenting it available for browsing. Restaurant serves only dinner and because we attended a wedding nearby we only had the included continental breakfast. Recommend the blueberry scones! We were on the top (3rd) floor and the A/C was a bit colder than we prefer and I didn't seem to be able to control it. It was after hours when I tried so there was no staff available to ask. Not a big deal though.
- Ellen (8/5): - Location is beautiful. Very cozy atmosphere. Breakfast scone was delicious! Room was spacious but bed was bouncy, noisy, and uncomfortable.
- Carolyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (9/5): We enjoyed a lovely, quiet evening and morning with excellent service and food. - It was quaint and historic as well as modern and comfortable. It was too cold in the room overnight and we were not able to change the thermostat.
- Marie-line (8/5): Very good - We understand the historic value of the facility. However, it felt a little stuffy. The furniture in the bedroom looked like a collection of old furniture found in garage sales. Nothing matched. The beds are full size. A tad small for 2 grownups of normal size.
The staff was awesome, though, and the courtyard is lovely.
- Andrea (7/5): Good - It was a beautiful area. It was clean and the staff was exceptional. The bed was so comfortable. The coffee was delicious. I would stay again. I did not like the room we stayed in. My husband is tall and had to bend down to walk on one side of the room. I banged my head off the ceiling and I'm short!
The breakfast was fruit, yogurt and pastries. I would have liked healthier choices, not really sure if the pastries were baked in the basement fresh, as we were told. My husband was just uncomfortable and wouldn't stay again.
- Catherine (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Fun, cozy stay! - History and vibe was great! Bed was a little uncomfortable.
- Tenlen (9/5): Superb -
- Leigh (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Great find- not a cookie cutter chain hotel. Bhutto - Hidden gem - 200 year old inn with charm- great restaurant and bar
- Olivia (8/5): We had a great stay at this historic inn, with an excellent dinner in the restaurant. - Charming and full of history
- Harvey (10/5): - We enjoyed everything about the inn. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We liked the history of the inn . We'll be back
- Anonymous (8/5): Wonderful place to have reunion with friends. - Quaint and historical. Food was very good. Steps were a little difficult with luggage.
- Anne (8/5): Quaint, comfortable B&B with excellent staff! - Very charming, historical building for a bed and breakfast. Room was large and well appointed with antiques. New shower head had excellent water pressure even on the 3rd floor. The absolute BEST thing was the friendly and accommodating staff. Just be prepared for stairs! This historic property has no elevator.
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional - We had dinner at the restaurant and it was spectacular.
- James (10/5): Beautiful historic inn at reasonable price - Historic charm, free parking, rally exceptional restaurant with outdoor seating
- Jill (7/5): Good -
- Steven (10/5): - Historic, early American
- Christa (10/5): Coming again if we are looking for overnight in the area. - We really liked the historic place, the eye for details, the paintings on the wall; the breakfast offered at a beautiful morning restaurant. Easy check out.
Everybody was extremely friendly and polite - including the welcome gentleman who brought our luggage to the reception, the lady who explained everything at the B&B and in our room, and a special thank you to the lady who served the breakfast. nothing to say about this.
- Eugene (10/5): Certainly hope to return. - The service and breakfast was delightful and delicious. Treated us wonderfully.
- Robyn (9/5): Charming historic hotel with great restaurant - Great restaurant with hotel rooms. Excellent food.
- Allen (10/5): - Adorable place with great people! Highly recommend!
- Leigh (10/5): Quaint historic inn conveniently located - Beautiful historic building in convenient location; delicious pastries for breakfast For the cost, would really have appreciated a coffee maker in the room & glasses rather than plastic cups
- Duane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carol (7/5): I enjoyed my stay and was happy that the staff could accommodate my request for a later checkout (no - Beautiful setting. Well appointed bar and dining areas. Very much appreciated the small suite with a separate bedroom and sitting room. Lovely deck for overnight guest use and an honor system for hospitality bar items upstairs. The bedroom area was small with the bathroom sink close enough to be a literal bedside table. The small shower and toilet area were adjacent. It was fine for me as I expected a historic property to be a bit quirky in design, but if my 6'5" son had been along. He would have definitely been cramped in the shower.
The room included a landlines with various buttons, and somehow the intercom button was on, and in the middle of the night I was awakened by rock music that I discovered was coming from the phone. Quite weird.
- Robert (10/5): - great historic inn!
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dejan (8/5): Very good -
- Diana (10/5): General Warren was a wonderful place to getaway for a romantic evening with your spouse/partner! - I liked EVERYTHING about our stay at General Warren! It was a lovely inn with an exceptional bar/restaurant on-premises! The suite, bar and restaurant exceeded my expectations! There was going to be a wedding on the day we left! It seems like the perfect place for a wedding! General Warren had really good vibes, too. I did have the feeling that there may be some spirit activity there as a few things happened during our stay. Definitely good natured and not malevolent at all! I would highly recommend staying there if you are looking for a nice little getaway with your spouse/partner!
- Teri (10/5): - Charming and the food was amazing
- Karen (10/5): - Beautiful property great service
- Anne (10/5): - Lovely suite with a fireplace. So cozy for an overnight getaway.
- Carlos (6/5): Not a great stay but a good dinner - We stayed for just a night, there was no rest as the noise from the restaurant came clearly through the walls and floor. The pictures are very deceiving, the tv is awkwardly pushed to the side of the couch insead of in front (you cant move it either) and a wall inbetween the rooms makes it hard to be seen from the bed. The bed was comfortable and clean, it was just a strange set up. the bathroom barely fit us, looks like it used to be a closet. Maybe a different room would have a better set up? we left at 8am and there was no one available for check out. Like a ghost town. The restaurant downstairs was amazing, the food was worth every penny. I would eat there again but would not stay in the rooms.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - great two night stay, treated like family by owner Patrick and his team, special thanks to Jane and Jenn in the bar. I will be back!
- Ronald (10/5): - Great bed and breakfast. Highly recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It feels like you're staying with your favorite relatives. I love the little fireplaces in the rooms.
- Christopher (10/5): - We were upgraded to a bigger room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the decor. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was outstanding.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff and very clean amenities. I really recommemd this hotel of you're in the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Inn is historical and extremely charming. We will be back when we are in the area. Wish we stayed longer.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property has the friendliest staff, who make you feel that you are a treasured member of their family.
The hotel has an beautiful "Olde World" feel - the rooms are large, with a generous lounge area furnished with comfortable, old-style tables and lounges, with plenty of room to sit and talk with friends, family or colleagues.
The bed was also a tall "Olde World" bed which was very comfortable, and ensured I slept like a rock every night.
Breakfast every morning was fresh - again with wonderfully friendly staff, who quickly learned my likes and brought my "usual" to me without being asked - particularly if I had a busy morning with conference calls.
While I didn't get the chance to eat at the restaurant this time, it is clearly very popular in the area. When I arrived, the carpark was basically full of restaurant patrons' cars, with more arriving.
I did sit at a table in the bar area for a while working on a presentation with a colleague one evening.
The bar area smells wonderfully of the wood fire that we are told burns every night during winter.
And again, the wonderful staff ensure that you have what you need, and yet are not interrupted from what you are doing.
I am hoping to be sent back to our customer in Malvern very soon so I can stay at this hotel again - hopefully for a little longer next time - and definitely long enough that I can spend at least one evening dining in the restaurant.
- Amy (10/5): The Wonderful General Warren Inn - As a couple whose main interest when traveling is history, the General Warren Hotel was a perfect choice. We knew beforehand that the restaurant would not be open. No matter, we had the back deck to ourselves and enjoyed some much deserved peace and quiet. The innkeeper took good care to assure our comfort. The bed was immensely comfortable and we had all the amenities.
