Guest Reviews
- Simon (8/5): Great value and convenient accommodation. - Good value and close to heritage railway and town centre. Great Bass served too. Basic accommodation but as expected. Room 9 faced the road which was noisy at times.
- Semra (10/5): -
- George (9/5): -
- Spencer (5/5): -
- June (7/5): - The staff were lovely, the room was good with it's own door out to the garden The parking was an issue at peak times
- Tony (4/5): Don’t bother worst I’ve stayed in - Nothing to like Main door into accommodation area broken ( security issue)
Couldn’t see out of the widow ( glass steamed up )
Carpets were awful
Shared toilet door loose hinges
Mould on walls
Sink blocked
Ridiculous amount of noise from the bar on Saturday evening unit 11.00am
- Marriott (9/5): Very good stay - Was very comfortable and I loved the evening music. We were meeting with family for a party nearby and ended our evening at the pub. The stay was very good. Maybe some hair shampoo, I had forgotten to bring some and there was just hand-wash.
- Valery (1/5): Total rubbish night - There was a party on the night I have stayed past well over midnight which they were quite happy to hide from customer, the manager was on the staff side obviously, I would definitely not recommend a booking in that thing unless you want to be awake till early morning .
- Robert (9/5): A very pleasant stay and would book again - Very friendly staff and made to feel welcome
- Greek island hopper (7/5): - Comfy bed,new shower room. Lovely staff. Fake flowers, no chairs.
- Rui (8/5): -
- Sarah Ludbrook (8/5): Friendly and local - I loved the location, the friendliness of the staff we met and the welcome in the bar. The sheets were lovely and soft and nice big rooms. Our room was very quiet away from the main pub with a nice enclosed garden view. The TV was Smart so we could use the internet and watch what we wanted. If you wanted quiet the room my parents was in would not work, but they loved the music playing through the wall and were expecting it. May have even joined in if they hadnt been playing their own music back on You Tube.
- Montgomery (8/5): -
- Andy (7/5): Convenient Bargain - Convenient location near the town centre and for the price of the room an absolute bargain when sharing with friends.
- Darren (10/5): -
- David (7/5): -
- Rachel (7/5): It was about what I expected for the money; very basic, clean, simple. Staff really nice. - The single bed was very uncomfortable ; could feel the springs pressing into your back! And a lot of noise pollution; door and walls not soundproof at all.
- Brian (1/5): -
- Reid (10/5): - Welcoming,friendly.ideal location
- Isaac (9/5): - Great service and helpful staff, they explained everything we needed to know in a simple and concise manner. Decent rooms, no issues at all. So overall great value for money. Sometimes at night it could be a bit loud
- Michael (5/5): It was good, if you want a quite stay make sure, you're there during the week. - Everything was within walking distance: the Bell Foundry, the Town Centre, the Markets and the Heritage Railway. The room the Inn assigned was in a great location and very clean, with good heating and strong shower pressure. The nosy patrons, the loud singing, and the lack of a small bar fridge.
- Stephen (7/5): Quirky local inn, good for overnight stay - The place was a real local local, a good thing as it's quite unique in this day and age. The bar was welcoming, and the Theakstons Mild went down very well, especially at £4.10 a pint. Room was clean and functional. Staff were efficient and friendly. There was no shampoo or soap in the shower, which was a bind. There was also a small square cut out of the window blind at the head end of the bed, which was a bit strange. Covered that with a spare pillow.
No breakfast which was a shame, though we were directed to a place just round the corner where a small full English was £6.50, and a large £8.50, so a great recommendation
- Andrew (8/5): good - All ok bathroom bit too small for fatties !
- Donna (6/5): - Soft linen Windowndidnt close once opened. Parking not available. But safe enough nearby.
- Philip (10/5): First class - Excellent accomodation
- CHARLES (7/5): It was okay - Room was clean and tidy, Staff were friendly and helpful. TV and Wifi was good. No Chair in the room, a thin mattress/pillows
- foxall (8/5): Great value, comfort & location - Comfortable beds & great price, including the location. Not applicable
- MARK (9/5): -
- John (6/5): Somewhere to sleep for little money, turned up at the edges! Staff saved the day. - It was cheap, linen was clean staff were aaamazing The front door lock was broken, there was no room in car park
Lumpy bed.
- Conlon (8/5): -
- Hilary (8/5): It was generally a good place to stay, so I would recommend. There are places to eat in town. - Comfortable bed. The room was very clean and the location off the A6 and near the town centre was great. My particular room was adjacent to the bar, so a little noisy on a Saturday night but that said the bar emptied promptly so I wasn't kept up. The TV picture needs some adjusting as it wasn't very sharp in that room.
- Mikala (6/5): -
- Obassi (5/5): Not very impressed but it was okay for a night stay. - I was happy to be upgraded from a single room with shared bathroom to an ensuite twin room. I arrived slightly after 10 pm but was still checked in. Messages I sent at late hours were replied. Nice to have provided multiple sockets, tea/coffee, desk and chair as requested. No bathing soap or gel - quite tricky having to go find those to buy in the morning before an early departure.
No hanger or wardrobe.
The WiFi was horrible to be honest; it made my work very difficult at night and in the morning!
- Rory (8/5): Perfect location for a weekend away. - The staff were really friendly, we got a free upgrade and the location was perfect. Nothing, it was great!
- Darren (4/5): - The room was very dated. And the bathroom facilities were shared. Didn't really explain there were no ensuite facilities
- Kirsty (2/5): Emotional - In this case cheap was definitely not cheerful. - Location was convenient. Bed was comfortable. Room was not as pictured but was much smaller with very dated decor, no wardrobe in the room just a chest of drawers. Stale smoke smell in room, towel was small and clean but not fresh smelling, heating was switched off for the majority of the time despite sub zero temps overnight (I slept in a jumper), shared shower not clean (dirty bathmat, hairs in shower). No method of drying hands after using shared toilet unless I took my own towel. Net curtain rail in the room fell down if the curtain was touched. Staff (barmaid) offsite from 10pm with a call out charge of £30 if needed. WiFi network details as provided in the room did not appear on the available list of networks. Parking spaces VERY limited (not sure how booking as advertised would have secured a spot)
- Elzbieta (5/5): -
- Sue (9/5): Overall happy with stay, fantastic fish and chip shop round the corner - Pretty quite area Did not realise it was share bathroom when I booked but was ok
- Sian (10/5): - Great location,
Friendly staff,
Clean and comfortable
- Donna (1/5): Could not stay at the property due to drug use by others. Management did nothing. - The staff were as helpful as they could be. No sign of the manager in what was a bit of a situation. The fact that management did not enforce laws about no smoking, especially no smoking of cannabis in the property. We could not stay at the property as my daughter is autistic (hence the quiet room request), and her sensory difficulties could not cope with the overwhelming smell of weed. Also, we did not feel safe in accommodation that tolerates drug use on the premises. We had to find alternative accommodation at very short notice. I sent a message to the property to speak to the manager, as I have been essentially financially punished for someone else breaking the law, and management not enforcing said laws. I received no response. I have also complained via booking.com, and the property has not responded to them either.
- Stephen (10/5): Would stay again! -
- Broughton (10/5): -
- Joanna (6/5): Lovely welcome from the staff and they make an effort to make sure the room is clean and comfortable but it would have b - Good location Our room backed on to the pub so was noisy until the pub shut as it was karaoke night. One of the blinds was broken so people could see into the room from outside
- Andriy (8/5): -
- Roberta (8/5): -
- Tyler (4/5): - Recently decorated toilets Most of it
- Debbie (8/5): Nice clean & warm room with wi-fi being a bonus - No breakfast
- Martine (1/5): -
- Cavaccuiti (10/5): -
- Tandy (7/5): -
- John (7/5): Decent -
- jayne (10/5): excellent - very friendly staff, really good stay always welcoming i liked everything
- Hingyu (3/5): Not too comfortable - Relatively convenient Shared bathroom
- Esmee (7/5): Great facilities but guest safety needs to be considered - Incredibly clean throughout, including the bathroom. Powerful shower which was easy to negotiate and TV, etc so absolute bargain. Easy parking and staff lovely. I woke up to find a small section of the blind had been cut away which I hadnt noticed the night before, so whoever had walked past could have looked in the window and seen my in bed or coming out of the shower. I’m astounded the owners feel this is ok and don’t recognise how invasive and unsafe it is, especially for single women travelling on their own, as I was.
- Daniel Gerald (10/5): It"s ok, a bit pricey, however, over al is ok ,no noice too. - it was nice cuz Loughborough is close to anything you need , for a couble is perfect. I think for the money that you are paying is best to have some stickers with clean or dont disturb, cus it"s a bit wierd to ask the stuf to clean your room when you need to, and you might risc to be a bit offensive, or the stuf to not takeing it as you intended.
- Saud Bin (10/5): -
- Atkin (7/5): - Comfy bed handy at short notice close to shops A lot of Mould on bathroom ceiling poor ventilation blinds were broken with a hole in screws loose in bathroom door handle room is run down with everything running on extention leads
- Steve (7/5): -
- richard (8/5): - Overall fine Nothing
- Maggie (2/5): Horrible - Nothing Very cold, the heating got turned off early couldn’t sleep didn’t return for the last night
- Sam (4/5): Nice room, staff were friendly but not possible to enjoys quiet stay here - Comfy bed, decent sized room Next door to the pub which had singing until 1am and the shower was piping hot so had to turn the tap on to take the edge off
- neville (9/5): Nice location handy for what we needed -
- Kirikaran (5/5): -
- Richard (8/5): Overall very good. Will return - Great location, nice bar and restaurant Missing triple glazing pane in my room meant the room was a bit cold and traffic noise til late on.
- Sean (6/5): Unique, but I won’t stay again. - Location is good. Clearly a budget inn, beds aren’t the most comfy, and it’s a little convoluted to get to the washrooms and access is through an emergency staircase.
Unfortunately as a budget inn it’s not quite cost competitive with other budget hotels in the area that are the same price with better mattresses and private bathrooms.
- Alisdair (8/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): Adequate, Staff were helpful and friendly. - Didn’t have breakfast, Location was ok, Room was fine. Noisy clients outside of our room at about five Thursday morning.
- Gary (5/5): - Location close to town Bit dated
- JESS (8/5): Enjoyable stay. Staff in the pub were easy to talk to. - The location was perfect for the town. Short walk gave opportunity to explore. Everyone so chatty. Pub gave excellent service too. Shout out to Marie in particular. Thank you Prior to arrival I thought it was one building. However, I enjoyed being separate to the main building. Wasn't able to connect to the WiFi in my room; but that was okay. Thank you
- Alexander (9/5): -
- Lois (7/5): Functional and warm room suitable for one night. Close to restaurants and shops. - The room and en suite seemed clean. The TV and central heating worked. Chosen for the location and proximity to restaurants and shops. Great that they had parking. My phone couldn't find the specific wifi that I was told to connect to and the bed had a very poor quality, thin 'foam' mattress, offering no support. I hadn't appreciated that the room was in the outdoor space/garden, so if I'd needed to speak to staff, I'd have had to put my coat and shoes on and walk round to the pub's street door. Also - not enough tea and coffee supplies, so again, to get more would have involved going outside.
- Jean (9/5): Recomend to othets - Price cleanliness staff very helpful waste Waste bins in beer garden we had fis
h,,& chips did not want to take papers to our room
- Stephen (7/5): Great location - Very close to the Great Central Railway There was no toiletries
- Hans (7/5): -
- FRANCESCA (4/5): We left a night in advance, loosing the money as it was not refundable - It was noisy
- Niel (4/5): Good comfort but lacking in cleanliness - Comfy beds overall quiet and good quality sleep Poor cleanliness, stained sheet and previous bin not having been taken out. Floors also not the cleanest
No WiFi either at all had to rely on mobile data
Expensive considering the cleanliness
- Mark (3/5): Ok for one night but wouldn't stay there again - Lack car parking, Room was reasonably clean but could do with better decorating. Bed lent to on side, so it felt like you could easily roll off. Floor boards, in corridor, creaked badly ever time someone walked past.
- James (9/5): - Great place to stay lots to do in walking distance
The manager and John was very helpful The team at the place were great 👍
- Daniel (8/5): -
- Nataliia (4/5): -
- Jess (7/5): -
- Dyane (1/5): -
- Thorben Johannes (3/5): -
- Miss (5/5): Honest review, fare for the money - Nice staff a bit basic, but not too bad for the money.
Location was the main reason for booking. Clean bed, very noisy karaoke session on until very late. No loo roll, and we both ( at different times) got stuck in the bathroom as the handle was broken.
- Mwanza (2/5): - Nothing They dont communicate when you go to ask for assistance they don't give you access to speak to the responsible the bar lady is always saying l don't deal with rooms l only do the bar she even involves patrons about my staying, cant solve issues, they don't reply to your requests on booking.com before you check and even though they just don't care.
- Geoff (7/5): - Easy access
Parking
Close to town
Cheap ish No lock on front door apart from
Yale
Shower control n head
- Anne (4/5): Mediocre accomidation at a reasonable price - The room was warm and the bed was clean. Checkout was simple and straightforward, The pub was very loud and the bed was very uncomfortable. The location is mediocre, and checking in was a pain.
- Tracy (10/5): Excellent stay exact times to travel to and from donington park - Everything the location price friendly helpful staff everything excellent Nothing
- Ursin (9/5): - Very friendly staff, both at the Pub in the evening and the owner in the morning. Tasty english breakfast in the morning and very good food in the evening. Good ales on tab
- philip (10/5): -
- Bandula Rodrigo (8/5): - Comfortable beds. Good hot water and show cubicle is moderate size to have wash WiFi was slow
- Sergio (7/5): -
- Geetanshu (3/5): - The room was freezing and the heater was not doing enough.
- Robert (9/5): Basic clean accommodation - Basic, All clean.
- Bethan (8/5): -
- MARK (10/5): Warm welcome to a good value room. - The staff were very welcoming and waited for me even though I was late arriving and the weather was very bad. Curtain over the door could be better, I was disturbed by the bright street lights.
- altin (10/5): -
- Big Bear 🐻 (8/5): -
- Jason (6/5): Reasonable for the price - Good location for the heritage railway The price is fair , it was a bit dusty and one room had a drain problem which was untenable
