- lee (1/5): - It was very basic If you’re staying for business, don’t bother, they’re unable to provide an invoice of any kind. Not sure they understand their responsibilities as a business
- Darryl (5/5): Cheap place to stay, but past it's best - Fairly cheap relative to most places, but the current state of the place reflects that - has definitely passed its days of glory and is in need of some restoration and refurbishment. Looks like it used to be a nice place back in the day, and it's close to the river and central town. Quite a lot of damaged, and/or dirty facilities. Everything worked, but was not in a good condition. Wi-fi was weak in the room I stayed in, but was fine in the guest lounge area
- Amandeep (1/5): Please pay attention towards keeping it clean and do something related to bed bugs. - Staff were good, location is amazing. View from windows was great. Very dirty, beds were not comfortable at all.
Hotel has bed bugs, my legs are covered with bug bites.
Very dirty, blankets seems like haven’t been washed in over many years.
I was soo uncomfortable that I had to leave in early morning unfortunately.
- Le (1/5): -
- Pauline (1/5): Never stayed walked out - Nothing It was cold damp. Wall paper peeling. Windows had black mould. Bathroom was peeling paint with black mould everywhere. Heater had wheels falling off. Absolutely un healthy for anybody to sleep there especially in Autumn/ Winter
- Maria (7/5): - There was a kitchen and a dining room which was very convenient.
- Fred (2/5): Ugh. - Location Beds were shite. Wall paper peeling off the walls. Not nice.
- Harete (1/5): - Little to like. It was as if it were a half-way house. Bathroom was disgusting - broken window taped up with ripped and mouldey old paper - the floor was filthy. It should not be allowed to be approved as accomodation The shared kitchen was dirty with food splatters all over the stove and the bench full of dirty dishes. It was disgusting. The bathroom was also disgusting This place was just dreadful.
- Teressa (2/5): Uncomfortable - Location perfect It was basically an hotel for local men, on a long stay basis. Not suited for a female travelling alone at all
- Clark (1/5): Cancelled our stay on seeing the room! - Nothing
- Melodie JACOBE (6/5): -
- Francesco (7/5): - Posizione Pulizia migliorabile
- jason (3/5): Cheap but not cheap enough - The property was cheap because it is dated , which didn't bother us but unfortunately so was the bed and the general care of the room. Potential been missed here a shame for such simple fixes. The mattress was pasted it's best by date the bathroom window was damaged and covered with paper that looked to have been there for some time , mould on window frames and offering wifi when it couldn't actually reach our room. If you don't want to update the rooms that's fine people can look past that but only if you can provide a comfortable bed ,cleanliness and fix such things especially as large as windows and only offer the wifi to the rooms that it reaches.
- Pralle (9/5): -
- Maria (3/5): Affordable overnight stay.Needs more cleanliness. No wifi on the back rooms. - Good they have a toaster and microwave in the kitchen.
- Arati (4/5): - Location No wifi
- Diane (7/5): The orie reflects its run down state but it was clean and comfortable - Good location near centre of town with river view - comfortable bed and very clean Definitely needs a lick of paint. It looks like it hasn‘t had a refresh in 30 yers with pealing paint.
- Cowan (3/5): - It was cheap It's very old needs a lot of maintenance
- Keith (1/5): Terrible - Nothing The place is awful
- Ross (2/5): -
- SUZANNE (2/5): Sleep in your car.. can't believe bookin.com could endorse this accommodation - Beer was cold. Service ok Room was in a very delapidated state.. smell and felt unkept. ....I can't believe booking.com could endorse this accommodation.... $120 I have seen better backpackers for half the price...
- Gerard (9/5): - Staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Nigel (8/5): -
- Ian (7/5): - Central. Clean. Tidy. It's an old pub with run down facilities. But it all works and is perfectly functional.
- Chris (8/5): -
- Judy (7/5): Good value -
- Rowan (4/5): Underwhelming accommodation. Long overdue for an overhaul and update. - Location to the river for a walk.
- Tony (1/5): -
- Ann-Charlotte (6/5): Billigt boende i Alexandra - Lugnt område med trevlig pub under boendet! Trångt rum för två personer! Rummet saknade krokar sängbord sänglampa mm. Hade troligtvis använts som enkelrum tidigare!
- Peter (5/5): -
- jules (1/5): Nightmare - The room is a total wreck, but considering what I paid and the reviews I read, I didn't expect much else If only the room were the only issue... I went to the bar to pick up the keys, and after I asked for them, the man started speaking in another language to a customer drinking a beer at the counter. They both just looked at us and laughed. Truly shameful.
- Sofia (7/5): Quaint- you get what you pay for - Nice town and a nice stay. There was only one shared bathroom and one shared shower. Would have liked an additional one of each.
- Anthony (5/5): -
- henry (5/5): -
- Christopher (8/5): - We liked the shuttle service.Very friendly staff that went above and beyond to take you somewhere Room 10 needs a
new light bulb in where toilet and shower is
- Mark (7/5): -
- Alister (7/5): -
- Elin (8/5): -
- Phil (4/5): - Location was good Standard of the room
- Mani (10/5): - 🥳🥳 🥳
- Jodie (7/5): I stay here for the price - Price WiFi not strong signal in my room
- Cowan (3/5): - It's in a good location center of town It's quite rundown the door of the street cracked when you pushed it open the floors creaked badly and was dark inside needing more lights especially on stairs the whole place needs a spruce up
- Rob (7/5): - Location! The building is an old stone one modernized in front and inside in the 1960s. Very solid, quiet and architecturally unfortunate. But still a classic with rooms overlooking the rivers. Wifi didn't reach our room. Flaky elsewhere.
Ensuite decor is tired but functional. Very good shower.
- Teenica (7/5): - Lovely staff and location Need more parking
- Rosie (2/5): If we had another option we would not have stayed here - The view of the lake was nice out the window The bathroom had black mould on roof, the wall paper was peeling off in the bedroom. As the windows were single glazed it was freezing at night. The place really is lacking some TLC we were really disappointed as we could tell it used to be a lovely historic hotel but it was clearly not taken care of.
- Steph (3/5): Don’t recommend - Good location Cold, draughty. Small noisy fan heater to heat room with big gaps in windows.
- Michael (8/5): Greta place to stay - Everything was nice, the facility and beds. It was clean and overall pretty comfortable Nothing
- Master (1/5): - Nothing Everything the no wifi had to use my dater
- Mark (2/5): - Dirty towels flannels bedding
- Effinger (8/5): -
- Paulene (7/5): - Right next to the pub which was great for to have a Coldie after travelling. A communal kitchen, toilets and showers was great. We had our 3 kids so we had to get 2 rooms. They had toilets and showers. The shower pressure was good. And reasonable clean. Also we had view of the Cluutha river from our window. A easy walk across the road to the warehouse. The owner was super chill. Parking was outside the pub or at the back. But I mean it cant be helped its next to the pub haha. The rooms are old school pub style. They could do with a upgrade at some stage. But we were happy to have a place to stay for the night.
- Bony (1/5): -
- Allan (7/5): -
- soury (1/5): Not recommended with family - Nothing Everythinh
- Mcmath (6/5): -
- Kate (8/5): It met our need. Communication was good. - It provided what we needed and was very affordable Tiny bathroom; Slippery shower box; poor ventilation;
- Michelle (1/5): Don't do it, you will regret it - The only thing good about it was the location. We weren't expecting it to be flash for the price but the room wasn't like the photos it was way worse. No mirror, the bathroom light didn't work the bedroom lamp was broken and it was dirty. If we could have found accommodation else where we would have left.
- Tamsin (7/5): Not Flash but Functional. Would stay again - The location was excellent and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The triple room was spacious with a private bathroom. The shower was hot and had good water pressure. There was a lovely river view from the window. It was excellent value for money. There was no noise from the bar below even though we stayed on New Year’s Eve. There’s also a kitchen to prepare simple meals. As the other reviews the accommodation needs some TLC and some investment. The wallpaper was peeling and the bathroom ceiling had flaking paint etc. however we were expecting this and it didn’t bother us.
- TAKUMA (6/5): -
- Linda (1/5): Too noisy - Clean towels Noisy, difficult to sleep, tired decor
- Michal (5/5): - Jediný volný hotel v okolí. Všechno ale úplně všechno nějak pokažené. Včetně textu "Kuchyně" :-)
Prostě to chce občas utáhnout nějaký šroubek, promazat panty a vymalovat.
- Roseanne (5/5): Friendly staff and accepting of the late check in. - The staff were so friendly and were happy enough to let us in with our very late arrival!
This is why we booked here as this was the only place nearby that would take a late check in,
The view was really nice in the daylight and the location was great. It was close to so many shops and food establishments. The mold in our personal bathroom, the strong smell of mens cologne in our room and the general state of the facilities. The pin given to us via booking.com was also wrong.
It was cheap and met our needs but it would have been nice to have a cleaner and aired out room,
- Just_Cyril (6/5): Decent place to stay, you get your moneys worth. - Great location as we traveled to Queenstown. The place was noisy with the bar below and people arriving late throughout the night very loudly.
- Bernie (5/5): Cheap hotel with ensuite - Some rooms will have a nice view of the river. 10%discount when we dined at Stadium Tavern as they are connected.
Location is good. The hotel was quiet overnight. The bathroom was in need of updating and repairs. No door handle on toilet door and very old fashioned shower unit. Bed was saggy and only one pillow each. Extra bed cover in the wardrobe was stained.
- Carolyn & Adrian (1/5): The standard room advertised should be the standard in each room. Disappointed - The fact that it was for only one night, and we could dine elsewhere. No safe heating was offered; the bed was terrible, the bedding was worse, and the paint was peeling off the walls. It was not the room advertised in the photos. Urine stains and odour in the doorway or access area. Surprised no menu at the bar. You had my booking since May, and we got such a terrible room. None of the photos showed the "Queen" room we were in.

- Miller (7/5): -
- Erica (5/5): - I loved the fact that one of the staff members was lovely and helped me to not stress at the fact I was going to be late for final check in, but managed to sort that out. I didn't like that the rooms curtain wasn't big enough, the windows latch wasn't secure enough, the toilet in the bathroom wasn't usable, had to use my torch on my phone for more light, lots of mold in the bathroom also. Not a very nice smell either very musty. Also not enough bedding to keep warm in a room with concrete walls.
- Michelle (5/5): For the price I would of rather stayed in a nice motel for an extra $40 a night. - The shared kitchen was clean. Location great. The first room we were given had no electric blanket on one bed so we we changed rooms.
Both rooms smelt musty, mouldy and were damp and dark. The room we were moved to had the head of the bed against a solid concrete or stone wall that was covered in peeling wallpaper, it was soaked in moisture and cold so we couldn’t lean against it. Bed was uncomfortable. Mould and peeling paint on bathroom ceiling, no extraction fan in there.
Pillows looked dirty, no pillow protectors on pillows, I would expect there to be a health rule that clean pillows are provided in a hotel.

- Steven (6/5): -
- Waqanaceva (6/5): E joyed - View,location. Stairs 😁
- Jenny-lee (3/5): Not worth the money. Would pay more to stay somewhere else - It was cold
Like freezing cold
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gurjeet (5/5): Passable -
- Jenny (7/5): Good -
- Caroline (4/5): Great location, good old hotel just needs some attention to detail! - Good bones, great shower and location, clean floors, bathroom, sheets and towels Terrible mattress, old blood stains on electric blanket, stained old pillows with no pillow or mattress protector. Mould around window and shower roof.
- Kathleen (7/5): Central convenience - Spacious room with ensuite, view of river, quiet, close parking outside room, kitchen and lounge facilities along the corridor. Good strong hot shower. Heating adequate. Convenient location. Reasonably priced. Peeling wallpaper, paint peeling, taps hard to close fully, lack of maintenance . One bed light not working.
- Tracy (5/5): Passable -
- Kim (2/5): Very poor - It was a good location The heater was broken, the hand basin, no plug, no hot water, shower no hook for clothes no shelf for toilet bag.
- Nathan (3/5): Value for money, but possibly a relic of the past - Good central location, basic and cheap but great value for money. Warm rooms with the smell of pub food coming from the kitchen downstairs. Each room has a sink and faucet for brushing teeth or drinking Staff weren't present on site. Fire alarm fault woke us up at 5am. The fire department arrived and after cordoning off the street we were left in 0 degree temps and the property manager wasnt present or contactable to comment. Fire chief didnt know who to report to. We were left on the side of the street after evacuation until given the all clear but with the fire systems disabled
- Richard (7/5): comfortable -
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (7/5): Good -
- Brian (5/5): No problem here..get what you pay - Good for the solo traveler wanting a room and a beer
- Jo (6/5): It was cheap but wished we’d asked for another room - The lady running the hotel/bar was lovely and the location was great. Good music and pool tables Suffering from damp, wallpaper peeling off the walls, black mould in the bathroom and very tired decor throughout. It was otherwise clean
- Brian (7/5): Look, it's not the Ritz, but it's a great location and I'd be happy to stay there again -
- Geoff (5/5): Passable -
- Laura (5/5): Passable - Place is in a great location and a good price but this is reflected in the stay. Bedding had stains, no reception - just a note to call a number for the entry code when you get there - which is fine but reflects more as a hostel than a hotel so I would recommend changing how you present! Beds were super uncomfortable and hard, walls were super thin so you can hear everything too. It definitely requires a bit of maintenance but if you're happy with super basic for a decent price then it's fine!
- Lynda (5/5): Was fine for one night - The shower The peeling wallpaper and the mould in the bathroom
- Mark (7/5): Good -
