Guest Reviews
- Joanna (9/5): Very enjoyable stay. - Delicious, hot breakfast. The location was perfect; near to the places that I wanted to visit. Very pleasant owner who is helpful and very competent. I would certainly stay there again and recommend Kingsmede to friends and family Satisfied with the accommodation etc.

- Madeline (9/5): Cosy home away from home in a beautiful location - Set in a picturesque little village, this b&b is a charming old building with lovely gardens and quaint decor. It's a small place, with just a few rooms plus common sitting room and garden, so it felt like staying in a family home rather than a hotel. Chris and Kelly are warm and friendly hosts who really care about their guests. It was great chatting with Chris about the local area, history, and animals. When we were sat out in the garden looking at the stars, Kelly came out to bring us some blankets which was very sweet. Breakfast was great and the 'red squirrel room' was cosy and cute, with all the comforts you'd need such as toiletries and fresh milk. The only thing I didn't like - and I'm being really picky here - was the bed linen. I prefer white sheets and pillowcases over dark colours
- Laura (10/5): Greeted with a warm welcome by Chris, room was very comfortable and enjoyed the excellent breakfast each morning , we wo - Charming property with ample parking, lovely rooms and welcoming, very quiet surroundings There isn’t anything we didn’t like about it
- Bryan (9/5): loved it, great base and would stay again - lovely host, nice B&B, lovely shower and scrumptious breakfast thick duvet and hard pillows but that's personal choice
- JPESP (9/5): - Very well looked after by Chris (and his Mum!), breakfast was good. Nothing to not like.
- Gloria (9/5): Very comfy very friendly - Very charming and quaint
- Paola (10/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): Lovely, cosy, dogs welcome and the best breakfasts! - Kingsmeade is a little gem. Parking on site and conveniently located. Chris welcomes dogs which is a huge plus for us and there is a big garden for them to explore. It’s a welcoming homely place; not posh or pretentious more cosy and kooky. The breakfasts are simply the best - we never usually have much first thing but here we do!

- Thursowick (10/5): Would definitely stay there again. - The host was super friendly and we enjoyed chatting with him. The accommodations were charming and lovely and clean. The parking was nice and off the road. The area is quiet and peaceful. He recommended numerous places we could go for dinner and where we went was great and just a few minutes walk along the road. The breakfast was excellent. We were so impressed with his set up. He even had a device that I had never seen before--it was like a cooling pad that the pitchers of juice and milk sat on to keep them cold. I loved that because so often at B&Bs the milk just sits there getting warm, but not here! There was literally no problems with our stay at all. Everything was great.
- Graeme (10/5): Exceptional - Comfy friendly good breaky Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly hosts. Large room with a good-sized bathroom and shower cubicle. Cold milk and water in a fridge on the landing, labelled for your own room - a very practical and acceptable alternative to a fridge taking up space in each room. The breakfast was an amazing collection of locally-sourced items providing excellent tastes and textures. Nothing
- Tamsyn (9/5): Comfortable stay with lovely helpful host - Comfortable room after a day cycling with very helpful host. Liked everything !
- John (10/5): Friendly comfortable accomadating - The property was brilliant a lot of thought has gone into giving the best comfort right down to fresh milk in the fridge and torches strategically placed in case of an emergencies… oh and the breakfast was brilliant Absolutely nothing
- Caroline (9/5): A lovely comfortable and welcoming stay - A very comfortable and enjoyable stay. A very warm and friendly welcome from Chris. Lovely old property in a pretty village. An excellent location for visiting the south coast of the island. We only stayed 1 night so didn't get a chance to sit in the lovely garden but maybe next time as we would definitely stay again.
- Tara (9/5): Superb -
- Colin (10/5): Whenever we return to the Isle of Wight, we will always stay with Chris. - Chris was the perfect host, polite, professional, helpful and very engaging. He did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. His communication via email pre.visit was prompt and helpful. He made our three night stay perfect. Thank you Chris. Nothing
- Joanne (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable bed and excellent breakfast
- Daphne (10/5): Warm and friendly and great value for money. - Chris & Kelly were so lovely, the house, room and garden were warm and welcoming and Murphy, our cocker spaniel, was made more than welcome, thank you 🙏 There was nothing not to like but thank you for asking.
- Tim (9/5): Easy to find, ample parking, beautiful garden, homely, comfortable, friendly, fabulous breakfast. - There was so much choice, beautifully cooked and plenty of it. Thank you Chris. Position of mirrors. Bathroom mirror was a bit high and the vanity table mirror was very low, ok if able to kneel on the floor.
- Erica (9/5): Superb -
- Malcolm (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Nothing.
- Pia (10/5): Absolutely amazing! - Comfortable stay with our 4 year old toddler! Lovely room and facilities! Chris was so kind to offer extra milk for the little one and so patient and relaxed! Felt like home! Lovely garden to chill in and enough space to have a garden meal or picnic too! We may go back again to find the red squirrel that Chris told us to spot!
- Iwona (9/5): A great stop while cycling around the island - A very comfortable place, beautiful and atmospheric garden. Nothing
- Gyenis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charles (8/5): Friendly - Good location
- Pippa (10/5): Perfect overnight stay with lovely hosts. - Beautiful property in a perfect location for us as we were cycling around the island, our route passed the front door! Chris was fantastic host so welcoming and great breakfast - thanks so much.
- Adam (10/5): Lovely B&B hosted by very friendly people. - Well situated if you want peace and quiet. Everything is easy to get to. The property is absolutely lovely inside and out. The hosts are amazing and friendly. They made sure our westie max was treated well too with loads of fuss and a treat at breakfast. The room was a good size and the king bed was so comfortable and the shower was awesome.
Chris also makes a mean breakfast, the full breakfast was to die for and very filling.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional - Outstanding service from Chris, lovely house in a beautiful location, excellent breakfast - the whole stay was 10/10. Faultless - nothing to dislike!
- Jamie (10/5): cosy and relaxing - The friendly environment. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was super comfortable and very clean. The breakfast served to us was fresh and tasty. Also after accidentally leaving a personal belonging, the owner also helped us post it back to our address.
- Penelope (10/5): Everything you could want from a b&b - Such a friendly welcome for us and our dog. It was the perfect half way location for our round-the-island cycle, and helped us recover in every way from a tough cycle - comfort, delicious breakfast, every care taken to look after our bikes, dogs, and any other needs. I would highly recommend!
- Bill (8/5): Very good -
- Verity (10/5): Exceptional - Cute cottage, easy to find on the cycle route, Chris was super friendly and helpful! Nothing
- Chris (10/5): Wonderful, will be back again. - Excellent generous breakfast, locally sourced..Great home made jam too! Nothing that the B&B could do anything about.
- Cheryl (10/5): Perfect B & B - When I arrived I was met by Chris, he gave me a lovely welcome and felt like I was a welcome guest to their home, no question I asked posed any problems, I hadn't planned my evening meal and was concerned to get to the B&B before sun down so I was presented with takeaway options which were a life saver, very hungry after a 12 mile walk. The room was lovely and very comfortable, slept really well.
The morning was fabulous, Chris really does attend to your every need, breakfast was amazing, really did set me up for a positive day. I did forget to check the bed as I left and had left a very precious item of clothing, Chris called me and confirmed he would drop it off to my next B&B which went way above and beyond and I was extremely grateful.
Thank you Chris for a wonderful stay, I will definitely recommend you to family and friends if they visit the island. Such a beautiful island, really enjoying my time here. Thank you 😊 Nothing, will definitely return to this B&B if I visit the island again. 😊
- Ian (9/5): Hospitality of Chris, the proprietor, was excellent - Location and breakfast both excellent.

- Victoria (10/5): Delightful guesthouse with a super friendly host: would come back - We loved this B and B. Chris was an excellent host and kindly accommodated the need for a slightly earlier start, providing a full English breakfast ahead of a day's walking. Bedroom was very comfortable with lots of useful extras (fresh milk and water in the fridge, multigang extension lead for charging phones) and modern shower. The location was perfect for an evening meal at the White Horse Inn and handy for our round-the-island hike. Overall a very comfortable stay in a delightful guesthouse. Nothing
- Irene (8/5): Very good -
- Jacqui (9/5): Excellent place to stay - Really friendly, good communication before travel and help with booking ferry. Comfortable, excellent breakfast food, really beautiful place to stay. Would highly recommend. Location is away from main attractions which is nice and quiet but does require a car. If you have a car, it's no problem. There are buses as well though.
- Alice (10/5): Great bnb and excellent breakfast! - Chris was a fantastic host and answered any questions we had before and during our stay. We also booked the ferry through Chris which was very helpful!
The rooms were comfortable and breakfast was excellent!
- Raymond (8/5): Nice place to stay - There is a large garden around the back which guests are allowed to use. Quality ingredients used in the full English breakfast. Handy place to stop if you are doing the I.O.W. cycle route in stages. TV was on in the breakfast room. Quite a busy road outside if you have the street facing room.
- Lohachova (8/5): Very good -
- Barry (9/5): We had a great stay, the two rooms are very comfortable. - Breakfast was great, plentiful and the scrambled eggs to die for.
All very nice Nothing could have been improved,

- Sarah (10/5): Perfect stay for a weekend trip! - Super friendly and very warm welcome. This comfy B&B was the perfect stay for a quick weekend visit. Breakfasts were amazing and we really enjoyed chatting with Chris in the mornings. We were on the IOW for a wedding so we didn’t have a chance to use the garden, but there is a big beautiful back garden to relax in and it’s very close to Ventnor.
- Rachel (10/5): Welcomed very warmly our host showed us around the property. Had everything we needed and felt very comfortable. Definit - Very homely and welcoming Nothing to add. Everything was perfect
- David (3/5): Dissapointed. - It was quirky. We found it dirty and thought it was lacking in hygiene. There was a lot of dust along the skirting boards. The sink was very small and lack of sockets. There was no mirror near a socket to dry your hair. We had breakfast on the first day and the eggs were undercooked the egg whites were still snotty!
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
