• Debra (8/5): Great stop for C2C - The inn is in a lovely place on a village green.We had a very nice welcome after a days cycling on the C2C and sat in the courtyard for a lovely lunch. We also had a nice dinner and breakfast.The bike storage was good.Staff were friendly and helpful. Although the owners have done their best the bathrooms are small

• Colin (3/5): - The major concern was the breakfast eating area,the carpet was full of food spillage from the night before,it would be a more pleasant place to eat if it had been clean, therefor we decided to skip the breakfast and eat out.

The drain in our shower probably needs plunging, tried to tell someone at the bar on checkout but no one available. It would also be lovely to be told what time breakfast was in the morning, we had to ask but maybe an information booklet in the room would be useful too.

• Adrian (6/5): Overpriced - Nice pub in a lovely village within easy reach of the M6 so good for an overnight stay on the way back from Scotland. Room was OK but quite basic. The accommodation was very overpriced - we expected something much better for the price we paid.
• Aditya (1/5): Horrible, caused rashes, disrespectful behaviour - Didn’t like anything about the property. The hospitality and very unprofessional behaviour from the manager. Highly disappointed. ( our room’s ceiling, wall, bed and side tables were covered with flies and that’s how the room was given, when we called for an exchange of the room none picked the call. We had to sleep in our car for nearly 2 hours. Next morning, when we tried talking to the manager he said “ can’t do anything it’s countryside” and ignored us completely. Surprising how the manager doesn’t value customer service and provides a room full of flies. I EXPECT A FULL REFUND FROM THE HOTEL for the in-convince caused by their negligence.

• Robert (10/5): Coast to coast cycle stop off - very welcoming team! - Staff were amazingly friendly, got us involved in the local pub quiz and everyone was so lovely. Great food and rooms were very comfortable. Kindly arranged to store our tandem.
• Kerridge (5/5): An average B and B with nothing to bring me back for a second time. - The location is good with good parking. Breakfast was good as was service. The attitude of bar staff left a lot to be desired. I felt like they were doing me a favour by serving me a coffee.
• T (7/5): beautiful surroundings - the staff were great and the breakfast was delicious there was no Wifi in the rooms at all even though the barperson had given us the login and password. this was very frustrating as my husband was completing the coast to coast and needed the internet to review his ride that day and to also study his ride for the following day

• David (10/5): Perfect Pub right on the C2C - Stopped at the Shepherds Inn whilst cycling the C2C. Secure bike storage, cosy comfortable twin room, excellent food and a good range of well-kept beer. The landlord was brilliantly welcoming and helpful, getting us in and settled fast, bikes stowed away, and then seeing us on our way early the following day. You'll struggle to find a better pub for overnighting anywhere.

• Celine (10/5): Excellent place on the C2C route - Check-in was very easy , I had a bike and I was offered to keep it in a secured place .I booked a twin room for one and was offered a double room which was lovely and had all amenities. As this is a pub I ate dinner and it was very good . I was thinking there will be noise being above a pub but it was very quiet very early on .I slept really well . The breakfast in the morning was exceptionally good .Amazing staff Nothing .It was a great stay

Staff friendly and helpful. Specific room request granted with thanks. Power cut externally which was out of control of accommodation. We were still able to have an evening meal offered and were kept very comfortable despite this.

The host/staff were brilliant, couldn't have done any more to help with our stay. Dried clothes and filled our water bottles up too. The evening meal was very tasty indeed as was the breakfast too. Would highly recommend the shepherds inn 💯

Plenty of sockets in the room, in useful places, which is great when travelling for business and having work to do. There wasn't a desk as it was a small single room, but there was a socket, with USB charger on the wall by the bed and a cushion to use, so working sitting on the bed was comfortable and convenient.

• Joanne (10/5): Great place for a stopover - Great location for our one night stopover not far from Penrith, about a 10 minutes drive from the M6. Country pub on a village green. Friendly staff and excellent food. Liked everything. Would only comment that the bathroom in the twin room (Herdwick) is tiny which might be an issue for anyone with mobility issues.

• Salwa (10/5): Exceptional - Myself and my 12 year old son had an unplanned stay at the Shepherds Inn on Fri 20th Oct when we couldn't complete our journey from London to Stirlingshire as all the trains were delayed and then cancelled altogether. We had a great stay, and couldn't have been made more welcome. After arriving after the kitchen was closed we were still offered fish and chips which were great (and which saved us from pot noodles and crisps!), and were really kindly offered a lift back to the station in the morning. The breakfast was also great, and rooms very clean and comfortable. Altogether couldn't recommend more and just want to say a massive big thanks! We will definitely be back now that we know the Shepherds Inn is there.
• Rod (8/5): Adequate for our needs. - The location was fine as we just needed somewhere to stay in the Penrith area. The room was quiet and we had a good night’s sleep. Believe it or not there are two Shepherd’s Inns within 5 km’s of each other and of course our GPS sent us to the wrong one, so we wasted half an hour finding the right one. This may be my fault but , for not reading the property facilities correctly , but there was not an ensuite bathroom in our room. We had to use a shared bathroom.

• Martin (10/5): Wonderful country pub stay with great helpful staff - Beautiful old pub a couple of miles off the motorway in a small village. Staff were extremely helpful and couldn’t do enough to make sure our stay was superb. Breakfast was lovely and fresh cooked, good shower and comfy room and bed. • Hannah (8/5): A gorgeous little inn with good food, comfy rooms and wonderful service! - We booked last minute on the day as a spontaneous trip to the Lakes, to climb Helvellyn the next day, and thankfully we got the last available room. We told the lady who checked us in (I sadly didn’t get her name) that we were leaving very early in the morning to catch the sunrise, so would miss breakfast. She immediately went to talk to the chef and arranged for some plates of food and bottles of orange juice to be made up for us and left in a fridge for us to grab as we left! We were so grateful for such kind and hospitable service, and the food was a great help before the hike. There was plenty of parking available, and you can book to eat in the restaurant which serves tasty pub classics. The room itself was very comfortable, cosy and perfect for what we needed. We definitely recommend staying at the Shepherds Inn! Only slight downsides were the green emergency exit light in our room, as it was incredibly bright and located directly above the bed, and the curtains over the window as they didn’t block out much light at all, and a bright outdoor light was located directly outside our window. An eye mask solved both of these issues however and I slept soundly!
