Guest Reviews
- Nadine (10/5): - Beautiful Place, quiet at Night, nice balcony views, away from crowded center but still bearbeitet Everything, clean and spacious rooms!
Nada
- Luz (10/5): -
- PioloLinares (10/5): If it's available, book it - Te bedroom was so spacious, it had great light, great views. The breakfast was also a very nice surprise, very nice touch, generous portions and incredibly tasty.
- Arrieta Abarca (10/5): - Todo estaba precioso. 10/10
- Roberts (10/5): -
- Tracy (10/5): Comfortable stay, great location in Antigua - The location is perfect, a short walk to the Central area and in a quieter area. Options nearby for food and coffee. Sadly, I missed out on the included breakfast. The host was very welcoming and gave me information on the area. My room was very spacious and the shower was nice and hot
- Kay (9/5): Beautiful property - The host Veronica was very attentive and gave great recommendations on restaurants, things to do, and where to go. She even let me choose my room.
The property is situated a little far from the center but it’s beautiful and with the nice view of the mountain, well worth it. Also, the bed was the most comfy out of all of the places I’ve stayed. I wish the room had a full length mirror. Also, the towels could use a bit of an upgrade.
- Diana (7/5): The staff’s kindness and flexibility made the stay truly enjoyable, and the views were breathtaking. - Staff is amazing and kind! French breakfast was delicious. The view from the terrace is spectacular A bit more attention to details such as the towels and bathroom rug would make a big difference:) Also fumigation in the kitchen area could help to improve the experience

- Andrew (10/5): Fantastic place to stay. Highly recommend Chez Daniel if you're passing a few days in Antigua. - Really great place - cute courtyard, comfy beds, amazing views from the rooftop. Breakfast was fantastic.
The receptionist stayed late to accommodate our late arrival time. Very friendly. 10/10!
- Lenya (10/5): Super toll!
- Javier (9/5): - The place is really quiet and comfortable. For Antigua, the rooms are unsual: big rooms and big bathroom with a tub. Very nice staff respecting your space and also they have a parking space in case you are travelling with your car.
- Kirsi-Mari (10/5): - Everything!! Fantastic views of the volcanoes, amazing service and breakfast, beautiful and spacious rooms.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great. A 15-20 min walk from the center of town with amazing volcano views. It was quiet and peaceful, even during semana santa. It felt private, and had beautiful grounds. The room was big and spacious. While there was no AC, keeping the windows open while there allowed for good airflow. There’s also a top portion of the window that can stay open at night. The hosts were fantastic - incredibly friendly and accommodating.
- Marloes93 (10/5): Highly recommend! - We loved our stay at Chez Daniel. When we arrived, we were greeted by Veronica who sat down with us and got a map of Antigua. She highlighed some attractions, restaurants, markets etc. She was so friendly and welcoming! We tried a few of the recommendations during our stay, they were great.
The accommodation is not too big and it's a perfect getaway in the city. We enjoyed sitting there and watching the vulcano! Antigua is very walkable, but you can also easily get an Uber.
The room had everything we needed and housekeeping was nice and thorough. We even extended our stay as we likes Chez Daniel and Antigua very much.
Extra points for the breakfast!! The French croissants were wonderfull!! Accompanied with a baguette, fresh fruit and juice, coffee and tea every morning. You can also ask for eggs and beans, which were also delicious. Highly recommend trying both of their breakfast options.
We had the pleasure of meeting Daniel and talking about our travels. He has some interesing stories to tell, definitely ask him about the photographs!!
We travel by motorcycles and we could safely park them om the property. Also suitable for a car to park.
Communication was very easy and quick om WhatsApp.
Definitely worth staying here of your going to Antigua!!! ❤️

- Edward (9/5): First time in Antigua - Got a very spacious room with an amazing view of the volcano. Great location a few blocks from the busier part of town, yet a short walk to the markets and good restaurants. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Enjoyed breakfast by the lovely garden.
- Jaemar (10/5): - Just wrapped up 3 amazing nights at this cute boutique hotel in Antigua. The star of the show? Veronica - what a gem! She welcomed me late in the evening (9pm) and went above and beyond with local tips and maps.
My room was peak Guatemalan charm with those classic red tiles and French windows. Best part? Waking up to volcano views while sipping my morning coffee!
The breakfast was a nice French twist, and when I asked for some protein, they happily added eggs and beans to my meal. Super accommodating - they even served me early on my last day!
Location is spot-on - quiet enough for peace but close enough to everything. It's like getting a sneak peek into real Antigua life, hidden behind those gorgeous colonial walls.
Heads up - wifi was spotty in room 4, so pack some backup data if you need to stay connected.
Overall? Totally worth it for an authentic, cozy stay with fantastic personal service.
If you're looking for a home-away-from-home vibe in Antigua, this is your spot! 🇬🇹✨
- Justin (10/5): Exceptional -

- Joshua (9/5): Clean, quiet, spacious rooms. Professional, friendly, helpful staff. - Very polite, friendly, and helpful staff. Very clear communication every step of the way. The room is huge, and the courtyard has a lovely view of the volcano. Excellent included breakfast with two different breads fresh from the oven. A bit of a walk from the center, but that means that you can actually sleep at night, since it's quiet. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
- Luke (10/5): - Great service! Very friendly and professional. The room was clean and surprisingly big. The street is quiet and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast/coffee were great. Next door to a convenience store and just a few blocks from a main road.
Would definitely recommend for anyone visiting Antigua for the first time!
- jorge (10/5): Restful garden and amazing sunset views. - The place was amazing, quiet, the staff were very accommodating, access to a full kitchen, and located walking distance to the center.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- juan carlos (10/5): - An very quiet place
- Zenghelis (10/5): An oasis: quiet, large room, lovely garden, a sense of luxury at a very reasonable price. - The breakfast was the most delicious I have ever had in a hotel. Fresh, simple, tasty ingredients and coffee amazing.
- Sarah (10/5): - Chez Daniel was a wonderful stay in Antigua. It's a bit outside the center of town, which made it a good enclave outside the hustle and bustle. The team went out of their way to make my stay special; I did the overnight volcano hike and they allowed me to keep my car parked in the lot for safety. Highly recommend for a visit to Antigua!
- Mey (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Antigua - Great french breakfast, very clean room & a comfortable stay
- Mani (8/5): Very nice stay. - I stayed for 2 nights in Dec 2024. There is only 4 rooms in this B&B. Rooms were spacious but basic. Breakfast was good. The manager Veronica has very helpful. Very good value for the money. none
- Joshua (10/5): “An Unforgettable Stay at Chez Daniel – 11/10 Expe - Here’s a draft for your review:
We felt welcome at Chez Daniel from the moment we arrived. Veronica greeted us warmly, laid out a map, and gave us an excellent orientation to the town. She even helped us arrange transportation from the airport at a great price, which was so convenient.
The breakfasts were amazing, and they went above and beyond to accommodate my wife’s gluten and dairy allergies, which we deeply appreciated. Sitting on the terrace and watching Fuego erupt—seeing lava at night—was absolutely unforgettable.
We also loved talking with Daniel and admiring his incredible photography, showcasing decades of life in Guatemala. The images displayed throughout the property added a unique and personal touch.
Chez Daniel is quiet, comfortable, and incredibly relaxing. Truly a standout experience. 11/10—highly recommended!
- Kathryn (10/5): True to description, good value, and with excellent bilingual - Clean, small, private, quiet, simple welcoming, has limited parking. Nothing
- Norma (8/5): - El servicio excelente, esta limpio, tranquilo
Únicamente el baño necesita arreglos
- Marzena (10/5): Chez Daniel 5* place - Very comfortable and pleasant stay in Antiqua.spacious room and bathroom with lots if closet space .
Walkable to every attraction and yet quiet enough to get good night sleep
Fantastic breakfast every morning

in common space . Great selections of books to read while you there
Lovely terrace with breathtaking views of 3 volcanoes.
Veronica is a lovely hostess she arranges everything you need and very responsive to any question
Owner if this place Daniel its a very interesting gentleman with unbelievable stories about Guatemala and Antigua
Highly recommend this accomodation to everyone
- Eduardo (10/5): - Chez Daniel is your home away from home. The team makes it an wmeffort to make sure you are fully accommodated and taken care of. The facilities are extremely picturesque, on a quite corner of La Antigua. Walking distance from everywhere!
Veronica was very easy to communicate with and gave me a very insightful and much needed overview of the layout of the city and it's landmarks. Props to her and the team to accommodate breakfast, check in and check out times!
If you have the pleasure of Daniel himself, please do yourself a favor and spare some time to converse. Very interesting individual and gives you a great perspective on why La Antigua is so popular with foreigners. Make sure you ask him about his Photography.
Overall, I loved my time at La Antigua, but the accomodations Chez Daniel provides I think overcast any other Bread and Breakfast in town. Thanks all!
- Alison (9/5): Superb -
- Raines (8/5): Lovely time, with perhaps a few small areas for improvement. - I liked the simplicity of the place. The grounds were nice and there were a few different spaces and areas that were very different yet retained an intimate feeling. The view from the upper level was lovely, as well. I stayed for three days, and I really enjoyed the eggs and beans that I was offered on the last day with my breakfast. The other two days featured a nice croissant instead, but I personally prefer eggs and beans. Not sure why this wasn’t an option on the first two days. At any rate, I think consistency would be helpful :)
The property is a little bit on the margin of Antigua, which may be a positive or negative depending on one’s preferences. I tended to go out for periods and come back for rest, so I did quite a lot of walking. A more centralized location might be helpful if you are back-and-forth a lot with sightseeing.
Because it’s somewhat close to one of the busy thoroughfares, there can be some traffic noise. I would recommend using the fan in the room to drown out the sound at night if you are sensitive. Sleep was great when I used the fan!
I didn’t get a chance to enquire about why this was the case, but the WiFi had some spotty moments. I assumed this was just the nature of WiFi in Antigua, but the property I stayed at for the subsequent three days had really strong and reliable WiFi. I didn’t purchase a SIM card or other data connection for the trip, so the weak/unavailable WiFi made last-minute planning sessions really frustrating. Hopefully it was just an isolated occurrence!
- Michael (5/5): Owner was weird. Intruded rudely on our stay, insulted us for wanting to move hostels over price. - Very nice staff. Big room, ok bed, good shower with bathtub. Nice compound area. Nice office area up front for remote work. Decent shared kitchen. Good jams with breakfast. Lack of amenities. Upstairs terrace is pretty useless without furniture/shade. Obvious little is being invested back into the property. Staff was great, but "owner" was creepy. Rudely interrupted our breakfast to argue about why we decided to switch hostels over price, stating "Nowhere in Antigua is as nice at this place" heckling and laughing at us. Wouldn't leave us alone. Had to literally tell him he was making us uncomfortable.
- Daniel (10/5): - Veronica is a great hostess, and the property is an oasis in the city. Highly recommended.
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cassidy (10/5): - This is a cute little 4 bedroom B&B.
- karen De (8/5): - Nice, reasonably priced B n B. Good breakfast. Room a bit warm and a bit of a walk to center plaza.
- Erica (9/5): Superb -
- Shimon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): - Very private and quiet hotel - Safe enclosed parking - Easy 10-min walk to the center of Antigua
- Ernst (10/5): Ideal for longer stays in Antigua. - Great breakfast in garden with volcano view, large room and large bathroom. Great communication and attention from owner and staff.
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- Andreea (10/5): Great Place, Great Company - We had a great experience at Chez Daniel. The location is perfect as it is close to the center and at the same time quiet and intimate. Breakfast is delicious. The view is stunning. Room is spacious. We got some of the best recommendations from Veronica that was also flexible in arranging our transfers. A big Thank you to Daniel for all the helpful information and interesting conversations. We highly recommend this place for your stay in Antigua. N/A

- Lewis (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful hotel, even nicer than the pictures suggest! Loved the bath and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. In a great part of town, a short walk from everything you need but nice and relaxing at the same time. Nothing!
- Laura (10/5): - Guests are treated with care and love, as if friends rather than strangers. We felt supported and cared for during our stay. Moreover, the place itself and the views were wonderful. Our stay in this hotel made all the difference for our experience in Antigua. Fully recommended.
- Britney (8/5): - Absolutely loved the staff, the owner and the breakfast!! The views from the rooftop were beautiful and the location allowed for easy parking of a rental vehicle. My only suggestion would be to have a fan in the rooms to circulate the air as there is no air conditioning and on hot/humid days it is very stuffy in the rooms and gets hot at night. The staff is amazing here and very accommodating. The location is not really central so you do have to call for a taxi or drive everywhere unless you enjoy the longer walks. Overall we still highly recommend!
- Nicole (10/5): a relaxing place to base your stay in Antigua - the property is beautiful! it’s on a quiet street, and when you enter through the door it is a peaceful place with beautiful landscaping. the room is beyond spacious and the rooftop has the best views in town. the staff is 10/10 helpful, friendly, and kind.
- Ivana (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay at Chez Daniel! The room was clean and spacious, and beautifully decorated and furnished with Mayan artisan-woven bedding and gorgeous photos. The staff there were very responsive over WhatsApp when I inquired about shuttles and tours. The breakfast included is delicious - fresh, ripe fruits and warm croissants and baguette. There were two days where I got up very early in the morning for tours, and they offered to make me a breakfast to-go - which was delicious and perfect snacks while on my tour for the day. All in all, Chez Daniel was great. Well priced, beautiful clean rooms, great service.
- Wafari (9/5): very good stay. - Lovely property with a big well laid out room along with a beautiful and fully stocked kitchen. The view of the majestic volcano from my room. Due to low tourist season, the property was sadly mostly empty.
- Ana (10/5): - Nice!
- David (10/5): - Spacious rooms, friendly staff and owner, uncomplicated, breakfast included.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent stay. Friendly hosts. Clean rooms. Delicious breakfasts. Would stay again.
- Evin (10/5): Elegant & enormous room with beautiful views and beautiful excellent continental breakfast - we loved our enormous bedroom and bathroom with a beautiful view towards the volcanoes, the breakfast croissants and baguette were the best we’ve eaten in Central America and our hosts were very friendly and kind nothing
- Douwe (9/5): Great location to explore Antigua - Great accommodation close to the center but in a more quiet street. Big room, comfortable bed and nice balcony or garden with great view over the volcano. Communication was quick and friendly.
- Scott (10/5): Super boutique hotel. I highly recommend it! - I loved the spaciousness of the room and the little table and chairs outside my door on the upper floor. The view from the open balcony was amazing.
- Troy (10/5): Highly recommended - Came in late on short notice after an unexpectedly chaotic day and the owners quickly disarmed us with their charm. Beautiful property, great night's sleep.
- Luis (10/5): - Worthwhile
- Azucena (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (10/5): - Very spacious rooms located away from the busy part of Antigua. Beautiful view of the volcanoes from the upper floor. Impressive photos of of Antigua by the owner throughout the property.
- Janine (9/5): Superb - A solid stay in a more quiet hood in Antigua. Huge and clean rooms, the best croissants in Guatemala for breakfast. Daniel is an interesting person with great stories to tell. If you are interested in photography, history of the city or great tips, make sure to talk to him. If you are not a sweet tooth for breakfast - be aware its a classic french breakfast. Not a complaint at all.
- James (10/5): What a view - View of volcanoes incredible. Great service, good breakfast and super clean. Well located in great City. Very helpful in arranging airport transfer.
- Gandhi (10/5): awesome! would definitely recommend!- - Veronica was wonderful, super helpful. they can even proel are you a cappuccino with a barista machine. great views of the terrace.
relatively quiet at night, comfy beds, large bathroom. other guests being loud at their arrival late at night, and not being respectful of the quiet hours, even though they were being loud briefly.
