Guest Reviews
- Keith (10/5): A welcome stay following a long journey - This was a really good experience from the welcome reception until we left. The food was of a high quality. Our room was very clean, well decorated and spacious which enabled our black Labrador to settle easily. All staff were pleasant and helpful. Fabulous value for money. Large carpark and a nearby large park area to exercise. Would certainly recommend. Thank you.
- Craig (6/5): - Good value for moeny and perfect for work stay overs.
- Katie (10/5): Family run hotel/bar/restaurant, excellent service - Our rooms were clean and well equipped with a kettle, tea, coffee, hairdryer, fan, iron and ironing board. We had a shower/bath in our ensuite which worked well with plenty of hot water. The rooms and building are clearly not brand new and highly glamorous-but well maintained, very clean and perfectly comfortable. It is a family owned hotel in contrast to local competition with its own bar and restaurant, staffed and open six days a week, unusual these days. We had an excellent meal there on our first evening, well executed traditional British hostel fare, well served.(A selection of non- dairy milks for my coffee, good choice of wines)
We then moved into the bar which remained open till late;friendly atmosphere with the football on television in one end, ideal for those who wanted to watch but didn't dominate the space. The restaurant/ bar recently refurbished and a very pleasant, well designed space. Second night our whole party converged on the bar.
Excellent breakfast was included in the price with buffet elements(juices, cereal, toast, fruit etc) and a choice of cooked breakfasts made to order. My daughter, who overslept, came down late for breakfast on her own, but a lovely staff member gave her a tray and she brought her Weetabix, toast, yogurt and fresh fruit back to her room to eat.
The excellent service made this hotel stand out. From checking in and out, the charming and professional restaurant and bar service, friendly housekeeping staff-we couldn't fault it.
- B (8/5): Great Value for money - Nice hotel and good value for money. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Food very good, fresh, hot and enjoyable. Will certainly stay again if the opportunity arises.
- PAUL (6/5): - Friendly staff food very good
- Teresa (6/5): cheap & cheerful - Nice friendly place, helpful staff
Bed was comfy tho very soft mattress
Knocked stars off as plumbing outside room was noisy, soundproofing not great (could hear doors closing in the corridor)
But for the price , worth the small inconvenience
- Michael (8/5): - Not a great area and the hotel did not look as good as it did on the website
- Wayne (6/5): As a last resort. - The hotel does seem a little run down and in need of a bit of modernisation. The room was ok, woke up at 5:30am by extremely noisy water pipes or radiator. I didn't manage to get back to sleep. At £89 i didn't think it was good value for money. Added to which the Wifi was very poor, intermittent and i wasn't even getting 4mb download.
- James Mark (6/5): - Hotel could do with some investment. Tired looking
- Mr DAVID (10/5): - Room was a little noisy, probably fans from kitchen and windows open due to weather but otherwise fine.
Down slightly early for breakfast and was looked after, thank you
- Mark (10/5): - Food was excellent, we will be back
- Richard (4/5): - Mattress was so uncomfortable. Cobwebs in room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Weekend stay at the White House - Friendly and very helpful staff, especially the 2 staff at the breakfast time (on Saturday and Sunday)
However the room was good but big and the radiator was out of service, biscuits in the room was expired in September 2022, only realised after eating as I ended up with upset stomach… I have taken pictures from the biscuit pack, but did not want to upset the friendly hotel staff.
Door lock was nightmare to open and to close, it seems this room was out of use or never serviced door key didn’t work and radiator out of service and biscuits were outdated, noise proof doors and walls squeaky floors both down and floor above us, overall I would rate 2 stars, ( for the staff 4 stars)
- Liz (4/5): - I wouldn't recommend this hotel I'm afraid. The bed in my room was so creaky that I barely slept - I think it was the mattress rather than the bed frame - never known anything like it. Also it just felt dusty and there was dirt along the sides of the carpet at the edges of the room. I am sorry to leave a negative review but I definitely wouldn't stay here again.
- CAROLYN (6/5): Overnight stay - Needs updating , old fashioned bedrooms and bathrooms. No safes in rooms . Service was ok . Breakfast ok , good pot of tea . Bar area ok . Stayed there with friends. Large car park
- Neil (10/5): - Very convenient Nd excellent transport liks
- Steven (4/5): - The property is tired and l feel it requires updating.we waited nearly an hour for our breakfast due a large party that were there solely for a breakfast and a meeting, l feel the hotel owner’s didn’t plan it very well as it pit the staff under pressure and upset the guests
- Richard (8/5): - Tired hotel more than made up for by happy and willing staff together with good food and beer
- Sally (8/5): Fine for what we wanted - It was fine for an overnight stay and excellent that it had a good pub/bar and restaurant on site but definitely wasn't noisy. The room was I suppose a tad shabby and old fashioned, but it was very clean, comfortable and fine for the price and what we wanted. Couldn't get the tv to work but didn't bother to follow this up. Super friendly staff and would be happy to stay here again in similar circumstances.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - very polite & welcoming on arrival.food in restaurant was amazing.room is in need of updating, although everything was there which was needed & very clean.
- Stephen (8/5): - Great staff
- Bill (8/5): Value for money - Good breakfast, lovely staff, would stay again
- JOHN (8/5): Godd value for money - Quite an enjoyable stay, having stayed at The White House on several occasions. We did not have the opportunity to eat dinner as we had a previous engagement. However, the full english breakfast was remendous and is recomended.
- Stephney (10/5): Ups and downs - Excellent service from all staff members food was of a very high standard the only draw back the rooms look tired no "O" ring on bath plug (water ran away) door handle only held on by two screws, Curtains did not fit or close correctly mattress lumpy But a pleasant stay.
- John (4/5): Broken Bed and uncomfortable mattress - The Hotel itself was clean, however the bed in the room we were staying in was very uncomfortable. I thought it was just a rubbish mattress, but when I check further in the morning the actually bed was broken. We did report this but the receptionist seemed uninterested.
- Angela (10/5): The White House Hotel is a real find. - The room was very clean and smelt fresh. I appreciated that the window was open.We had a meal in the restaurant the first night and it was very good.My one problem in room 12 was a spring in the mattress was sticking up.The staff are very helpful and I would be happy to stay there again.
- Gary (10/5): Best Family-Run Hotel I've ever stayed in - Absolute steal of a price including breakfast , possibly a promotion, which has paid off for the owner in this instance because I would have never found it otherwise.
Luxurious spacious room with every essential including an iron & board. Spotlessly clean bathroom 10/10 with piping hot water at all times.
Breakfast selection and service was excellent, extremely pleasant and friendly staff, all local/family members I'm guessing?
Ample free-parking which is highly unusual, I've stayed at enough hotels to know the difference... trust me!
Only 1 or 2 "Advisories" if I may please;
1) The reception area doesn't reflect the tidy high-standards of the Hotel in general.
2) it's perfectly normal/accepted if a team-member is busy with an urgent task, anybody in the workplace has experienced this at one time or another, however...
A simple acknowledgement, wave, nod or "back in a minute" will work wonders if someone is kept waiting for any reason.
Would happily book-in again, can't recommend highly enough. Thank You to all the Hotel Management and Team.
- Malcolm (6/5): Over night stay - Hotel was clean, rooms large and spacious.
Our room had a few problems which we brought to the attention of the manager. When we came to pay the bill he reduced the amount we had to pay by approximately £35.00
This was very good of him and made up for the niggles. We would certainly use again.
Evening meals were excellent.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The hotel is showing its age but was clean . The food in the restaurant was excellent
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were amazing, could not have been any nicer or friendlier, will definitely stay there again
- Sarah (4/5): Solo stay - Dated hotel, poor lighting and uncomfortable single bed
- David (10/5): Happy days - Our stay was very good and the food provided was excellent .
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Expedia listed this hotel as being able to cancel anytime up to checkin and I would not pay until I got to the hotel. I tried to change my departure date but Expedia would not let me. I tried to cancel, Expedia wouldn't let me. I sent a message to the hotel thru Expedia. When we got to the hotel they had not received any details of my reservation, just my name. Hotel said Expedia was the only ones who could change the dates because of the payment voucher Expedia has. Expedia help desk told me only the hotel could change it. Expedia help talked to General Manager of hotel who agreed to lets us check out a day early without billing us for that last night. When I checked out the bill was Expedia's payment voucher charging me for the night I did not stay there. I booked two rooms for my family so I was charged $200.00 for a night we weren't there because Expedia would not change the payment voucher (my deposit)
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Plenty of car parking.
The decor was dated. The bedroom was way too hot. The walls were paper thin, so I heard the drunk guys at 0315 locked out of their room and being noisy in the corridor. The water from the shower ran alternating hot/cold. Someone put food on my tab which I never ordered (I didn’t have to pay)
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I booked 6 rooms for myself and colleagues. However there was a 25th birthday party going on downstairs in the bar which continued until 2 pm. Was kept awake by revellers outside my window laughing, fighting and smoking. Phoned down twice to get the music turned down but to no avail and. Dreadful nights sleep.
- mark (6/5): - Stay wa ok, light in room didnt work, shower gel ran out 1st night and wasnt replaced. Dinner on 3rd night was good though pudding failed to appear, after half hour wait went to bed disappointed.
- Michael (10/5): - Amazing staff and amazing people.
- Bryan (4/5): Poor effort for customer care - Had to check out around 3pm on the wednesday due to family emergency and was still charged both rooms till friday. Would except the 3pm checkout and having to pay for that night but was very surprised to be charged both rooms the following night.
- richard (8/5): quiet midweek stay, good menu in the bar - didn't start too well as my satnav failed to locate by postcode... but once there, and once i'd found the alternate access road to the residents parking (just so its closer to the building and more secure), the welcome was relaxed and warm.
its an old characterful building with the odd creaky floor board, but the rooms were smart, warm and clean. Wifi was easy to access, FREE (take note Travelodge) and reasonably speedy. no complaints.
downstairs the menu was great, and the bar served up several real ales- so a happy chap left to return to his room.
all in all reasonable price and so much better than the robot-like chains- i'd certainly choose to stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice place. Clean and comfortable. Nice restaurant. Bar is clean and welcoming
- Martin (6/5): - Comfortable hotel with very pleasant staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): Relaxed and friendly - Very friendly staff in relaxed informal setting. Excellent value meal.
- Andy (10/5): - Everything ok
Lovely food
- Sabrina (8/5): - Clean comfortable but essential very nice staff easy check in and check out. Restaurant in the hotel serve very good meal in a good variety. The place is very quiet good parking space. Could do with a little freshen up.
- Colin (8/5): business stay - Food in the bar was very nice. Location is off the main road so little noise at night.
- Philip (8/5): - Staff were really friendly and looked after us very well
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed for 2 nights. Staff were very helpful. Quality of breakfast and evening meal we couldn’t fault. Would certainly stay again 👍👍
- mick (10/5): Nice hotel - Nice hotel nice atmosphere rooms comfortable well equipped even have an iron and board beds comfortable
- Heather (8/5): Good hotel for Lilleshall Sports Centre - Hotel welcome, staff and food were excellent! Experience was let down by the poor quality bed which had a very soft mattress that moved whenever one of us turned over. It also sagged in the middle. We had a very uncomfortable night.
- Steve (6/5): - Hotel is okay but the single room I had was really small, small bed and tiny shower. Food was good and staff were very good.
