- Michael (10/5): - Very welcoming, clean, comfortable and modern. We had a really nice room with direct access to a patio with great views. Near to Staithes, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and the moors. Parking was good. Staff were friendly. Good breakfast. We should have stayed longer. We will return.

Sausages didn’t look cooked, not browned at all, fried eggs were rock hard and coffee was stale and tasted awful. Other guests said the same! :(

- Chris (6/5): - Clean room, not a king bed in mezzanine room as stated in description. Only a double, evening meal ok. Stay not worth the £200 a night price tag. Breakfast was included but ate out the 2nd morning as it was average at best
- Elizabeth (6/5): - Expensive for basic accommodation. Well renovated buildings but obviously ran by a chain. The bathroom was tiny with black mould in the shower and on the shower head. Vanity mirror not working. The general cleanliness if the room was good. No soft furnishings for comfort such as a cushion or a throw. No fridge in the room, basic terrestrial channels on tv. Staff were very nice and obviously hard working. Public areas were very clean and tidy and well maintained, with a lovely accessible garden.

- Claire (6/5): Hotel was not worth the money we paid - The hotel is in a good spot over the road from the Whitby park and ride. The bed was very comfy, but the room was very warm and there was a fan supplied. When we came out of our room we had to walk outside onto a concrete floor and cladded wall, not the usual carpeted warm corridor. The outside gardens were nice, but it was a bit chilly to sit out. Breakfast was the main let down. You have to order it at the bar and make your own tea or coffee. There were not many cereals on offer and had to ask for juice, bread and butter refilling. We did not eat dinner at the hotel but the meals looked nice. It cost just over £200 a night and would of expected more for the price paid.
- Simon (4/5): - The building and grounds are lovely but it’s far too noisy. Didn’t get a good night’s sleep either night! Right next to a busy main road and the traffic doesn’t seem to let up all night! Accelerating motorbikes going past at all hours and trucks shake the room! Also, customer service skills leave a lot to be desired. The girls attending the restaurant were pleasant enough but the guy who checked us in looked like he didn’t want to be there. Also, breakfast took around 50 minutes to arrive on Sunday morning after placing the order. When it came , the toast wasn’t toast, just bloomer bread. No apologies about the length of time it took either (from the same guy who checked us in the day before). Upon leaving , I would have aired these views had we been asked “ was everything ok with your stay” but nobody bothered to ask! Hence this review Basic customer service skills really! We won’t be staying again

- Karen (6/5): Family memories - Room for a family was so small made out of metal however in saying that the hotel made up for it food delicious great value excellent with our grandchildren staff brilliant if you book ensure you are in the court yard stayed here so different to the new accommodation they have done a outstanding job on the bar and restaurant outside fabulous just a shame about the room

The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had such great character—especially loved the mezzanine bedroom. The service was spot on, with friendly staff greeting us warmly and checking in during our meals. Food and drink were fantastic too, making it a memorable visit overall. I can't wait to come back!

Easy to access Whitby town from. We stayed with two children (7 & 4) and they were well catered for. Would definitely stay again.

- Adam (10/5): - The Stables love dogs! They cater for people and 4 legged fury friends equally! We had a brilliant few days being hosted at The Stables, located only a couple of miles from the harbour with easy access into and out of town it really couldn't be in a better location. The views from the bar/breakfast room are amazing and the staff really are top notch, friendly, helpful and everything you come to expect from a great hotel/restaurant.
- Louise (10/5): Friendly & comfortable hotel - Lovely clean room, comfy bed. Ate in the bar & enjoyed a nice meal, friendly staff in bar area. It was not warm enough to sit in the garden but in warmer weather there were plenty of tables outside in a nice spacious garden. Hotel is situated away from the centre of whitby but is very handy for the park & ride bus service which works out much cheaper than using the town car parks.

- A (10/5): Birthday Treat - Initially booked into room 7 ( annex) . Hadn't fully appreciated the access issues / stairs / downstairs toilet/ wardrobe. Staff were brilliant and moved to room 15 inside hotel immediately. Friendly staff , great food and only 1.5 miles from Whitby . ( Although Park and Ride does not start until Spring) . Would certainly book again .

- Sarah (10/5): - We visit Whitby every October, this was the first time in a hotel and we absolutely loved it. Cosy pub with plenty of food choice, very comfortable beds, kettle in room (yippee!), superb staff and the holy grail: full breakfast menu included (please don’t stop doing this!). Plenty of parking. The outside areas were lovely, a pond with a duckboard walkway, picnic benches if you fancy sitting outside, and a view of the countryside from the dining room windows. We will definitely return.

Just come back later we are busy. It was Saturday evening. Hours later a lady produced a remote only problem was it was not for our particular TV so our evening was spoilt. Such a shame.

The staff were friendly and helpful, plus a big thank you to Diana who rearranged our stay with an upgrade and we were absolutely made up with it. We had stayed here last year whilst it was being extended so it was nice to return to see it all finished. Cant wait to go again next year..

- Terry (8/5): Good but!!!! - You could not fault the staff or their service, excellent all round helpful and happy. What is definitely missing is a longue, especially if you have a rainy day like we had, all you can do is sit in your room. It is more like a pub with rooms but worth a short stay.

Tiny window high up so couldn’t see anything, noise from the road, no water/fridge in room, refreshments tray placed on dressing table area so near where you do your hair etc, no where to hang towels in bathroom, little things that would make a big difference. Good selection for cooked breakfast but poor options for continental.

- Tamara (6/5): A disappointing stay overall :( - Wasn’t very impressed with the stay overall. Our room felt like it was a motel room on the highway with no view/windows. For the price we paid I definitely wasn’t happy as the previous night we stayed in central Whitby with an unbelievable view for less. Other than one particular staff member who helped me on the last day I felt that most were not trained properly and rushing around /stressed out. One particular male server who was new I believe was incredibly rude and upset me quite a bit how he spoke with me and my husband.

- Philip (8/5): - Great surroundings we loved the quirky rooms. Hotel is directly opposite the park and ride so quick & easy for Whitby much better than trying to find a space in town. Only downside for us is the breakfast and checkout times, 07:30 to 9:30 breakfast is early especially when breakfast is available to none residents until 10:30. Also 10:30 checkout seems a bit harsh especially on Sunday mornings. Overall good stay but breakfast and checkout felt rushed.

- Paul (10/5): Wonderful stay! - We had a really lovely stay here over the recent BH weekend. The hotel is spacious and clean. The staff were all friendly and personable. Our special requests were all met, which was appreciated as we had travelled with our older parents and a dog staying in 3 rooms that we wanted together. Check-in was smooth and quick and the rooms were great. Beds were comfy and bathrooms well appointed, lovely toiletries and fluffy towels. In-room tea & coffee facilities all as we expected and the daily replenishment of biscuits were very welcome - you don’t always get this these days!! There was some traffic noise, but this didn’t affect our sleep or overall stay in the room. Very dog friendly and family friendly - great to see the children and pets enjoying the outside spaces and breathtaking views- stunning. Restaurant and Bar area was huge - with a good variety of food options and nicely priced for Lunch and Dinner. Breakfast was informal and relaxed again, with plenty of options for all. Our only niggle was that there wasn’t a comfy lounge area to move to, to sit,relax and spend time together after our evening meal -something our elderly parents would have enjoyed and found more comfortable than staying at the table or just going back to their room. There is tonnes of space and different areas at this establishment - just felt it would have benefitted from a cosy lounge area for residents to use. That aside, we all had a great time and would not hesitate to stay here again.

I would have thought that would have been included in the morning breakfast that was included with the room. Overall this place would get 5 stars all day long

- Jean (8/5): Nice! - Hotel is very nice. Would have liked a small fridge in the room. Bathroom downstairs is not my preference. Wrought iron bed frame not the best for tall people. Some items missing from my salad which i had to ask for. But good location and overall a nice place.

- Neil (4/5): - It was obvious on our arrival that they were short staffed. It took a long time to get checked in and we had to wait an hour for our meal to be served. My meal was not cooked properly and they replaced the chips. Others were making similar complaints.
- Lorraine (8/5): A Whitby Gem - Great location’ - The property is gorgeous! The bar and dining areas are so welcoming. The staff is out of this world, accommodating and kind. Food and drink good .. included hot breakfast a bonus. My only complaint is the size of the guest rooms and having to climb stairs to the bedroom. Very small bath.

- steven (6/5): Avoid on a warm day - The room was a reasonable size and it felt like it had been recently decorated to a good standard. The main issue concerns a lack of air conditioning. The room was warm and on speaking to a member of staff we were informed that we could open the window. We did, but it didn’t make much difference and it was also noisy as it opened on to an external corridor. We also asked for a fan that didn’t appear. Another issue concerns the early breakfast ordering deadline (9:30) and the checkout deadline (10:30). The hotel is fine, but we won’t be returning.
- Laura (10/5): Gorgeous hotel, amazing stay. - Absolutely amazing stay. The hotel was beautiful, and very accommodating. We stayed in room 6 in the courtyard, and it was one of the nicest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in, truly beautiful. Really cosy and romantic. We had our dog with us as well, they left a dog bowl and some treats in the room for him which was a lovely addition. Food in restaurant for breakfast and dinner was lovely too. Will definitely be back!

- Peter (10/5): Lovely stay - We had a lovely stay. The whole place is very clean and well designed. There's lots of parking, the staff are friendly and the breakfast was delicious. There's nothing I could fault about the whole place.

- Emma (10/5): Fantastic place to stay - We went for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Also a surprise of other family members oo which were kept secret. The staff were brilliant and so helpful and thoughtful. Food was great and could cater for 2 coeliacs too. They made my parents special occasion one to remember 💗 Location brilliant park and ride into Whitby so easy. Highly recomend and will be back im sure.
- Carolyn (6/5): Short stay - It was fine for a couple of days. The sound proofing in our room wasn't great. Traffic noise and dog barking disturbed our sleep. Also our room wasn't serviced, so I had to go to the bar to ask for milk & tea bags. But location was good across from a park & ride into Whitby. All the staff we encountered were friendly & approachable.
- Joanne (10/5): - Fab hotel great food ,, spotless rooms and grounds would definitely recommend 7 mins drive to Whitby harbour or a good 40 mins walk and maybe get a taxi back x also park and ride directly opposite hotel

- Laura (8/5): Solo trip - What a lovely find, handy for the park and ride into Whitby, which was literally a 2 minute walk across the road. Hotel was lovely, big carpark. I had one of the large mezzanine suites, more than I expected, unfortunately for me the heating was broken, stuck on HOT. The team quickly sourced maintenance to resolve the issue, but this needed further fixing and I was moved to another room. Another beautiful room with a view across the country side. I had the vegetarian breakfast and the 2nd morning the Eggs Royle both arrived quickly, fresh and hot. All staff I met were pleasant and friendly, I have recommended The Stables to friends and I would not hesitate to book again in the future.

- Patrick (10/5): - only problem was getting into town without driving during the period before easter as the bus link is not operating . otherwise its a great place . The staff were very good and couldn't do enough. Room was perfect no complaints.

- Graham (10/5): - Excellent hotel, so unusual building, but very quaint. Room was ideal, bathroom absolutely superb. Food and breakfast were good. Lots of contractors working outside, but did not interfere with visit. Good to see hotel looking for progression. Will return to this place.
- Karen (10/5): Lovely weekend stay - Lovely room, had everything we needed for weekend away. Comfy bed, clean room, lovely grounds. Taxi £8 to centre of Whitby as nearby park and ride not running till April. Enjoyed evening meal at restaurant. Excellent inclusive breakfast. Would definately stay again

- Peter (10/5): - Gorgeous hotel and they’ve done such a great job with the refurb. We went at the end of November and it was so chrstmassy. We had dinner there and breakfast and both we gorgeous. It’s dog friendly too and the little courtyard we stayed in next to reception was lovely too will definitely go back
