- Robert (10/5): Comfortable accommodations and delicious food await at The Red Lion - We had a very comfortable stay - our modern, well equipped bedroom was located in the ‘barn’, an outbuilding just adjacent to the old pub. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner in the pub. There was a happy mix of locals and fellow guests, so the atmosphere was upbeat. Also our food was excellent - clearly their chef is innovative and skilled. A scrumptious breakfast, served in another outbuilding across from the ‘barn’ was perfectly prepared. All the staff were friendly and helpful - lovely people! Another plus ……. delicious homemade shortbread in the tea tray in our room! All was good!
- Lynne (10/5): - Everything
- Michael (10/5): -
- Richard (8/5): Nice pub & restaurant with good atmosphere - A good traditional pub, with a nice restaurant , good atmosphere and has a nice beer garden.
The rooms are also good The service in pub/restaurant was slightly slow
- Foster (10/5): great place, great food - great breakfast, will adjust options to suit, rooms were clean and spacious some noise can be heard from other rooms

- Stephen (10/5): A perfect country pub with excellent food so just Eat drink stay repeat - Lovely pretty & cosy pub where you can book & eat in the bar area or restaurant area . The staff we all friendly & happy to help. Both areas have the same menu which had a lovely variety of popular & more usual plates . It was hard to choose . I had the most delicious cheese soufflé with cheese fondue absolutely recommend .Fabulous outside pizza kitchen too. Excellent beer & draft.cider. We stayed overnight .The room was perfect, a very attractive & good size double at the front facing the road on the ground floor but no car noise . It is just a country road . We look forward to coming again in a few months time Nothing we loved it
- Helen (8/5): Great pub with comfortable rooms and good food. - Very comfortable stay. Very clean room. Friendly staff. Delicious breakfast cooked to order. Green light on ceiling which was very bright. Had to cover with Elastoplast so we could sleep!!

- Christopher (9/5): Short but enjoyable stay. - Spacious room with 'high-end' furnishings in room & en-suite, toilet and shower. Very pleasant staff - helpful & efficient.
Stayed there previously 10 years ago and it was reassuring to find that standards have been maintained Pot=holes in the country lane we took on our inward journey. (Best to arrive via A37).
- Nicola (9/5): Comfortable, clean, beautifully decorated and great restaurant! - Lovely location with a great restaurant/pub. Room was very clean. Beautifully decorated. Customer service was excellent. We would definitely stay again.
- James (10/5): - Perfect for a quick evening away. Wonderful room, excellent staff and the meal in the pub felt like we were spoiling ourselves. Leaving after we enjoyed our lovely breakfast
- John (10/5): Location, food, room and staff all excellent - would definitely recommend - Room , food and staff. Excellent Nothing, wish we could have stayed longer
- Alan (10/5): Magic - The location and the friendliest of the staff. Nothing
- aidan (5/5): sterile and cold - not a lot to be truthful but room was ok -expensive for what it was all a bit sterile really -room was cold and a bit dark but worst really was the breakfast in a cold "bar "area as the only guests adjoining and looking out into an empty events marquee so all pretty shabby on that front.Ok if event guests but not a cosy experience for mid winter .No reason not to have breakfast on the dining area .For that reason we would not come back
- Karen (8/5): A lovely comfortable room at a cosy country pub with the best Full English breakfast I’ve ever had. - The staff were really friendly and really on the ball about check-in details. The room was clean and well presented. The large bed was very comfortable and the bed linen was crisp cotton. There were home made biscuits on the tea tray. The full English was the best I’ve had for years. Freshly cooked and so very tasty. The room was too hot for us but I was able to open the windows to cool it down.
- Bryn (10/5): Will definitely visit again if I’m ever looking for accommodation in the area. - This place is a little gem. Olde worlde pub with great atmosphere, amazing food and friendly staff. Nothing
- Brian (10/5): Satisfactory - Comfort and friendly Staff. Breakfast Room Cold for Winter use.
- Stephen (9/5): A great overnight stay ahead of a visit to the Haynes motor museum - A rambling old pub with plenty of snug areas to sit. Three real ales on hand pump. Very good food. Good service from very nice people. Spacious, well-appointed and comfortable rooms in a separate barn. Very quiet location with no passing traffic. Large gravelled car park. Good value B&B rates. Great to see a very busy pub and restaurant in these straightened times. The website states the pub opened at 5pm, but was actually 6pm. Our final bill initially had the service charge applied to our (considerable) bar tab as well as the restaurant element. This was amended without any issues when I asked, but it seems a common practice these days. Of our group of 4 single males, two had no bottled water in their rooms, one had no milk. Other than that, absolutely no issues and I would happily stay there again.
- Simona (10/5): Just fabulous! - The staff is welcoming and super friendly, the bedroom is just beautiful and location is spot on! I would highly recommend this!
- Hannah (8/5): Very comfortable stay staff made us very welcome - Very quiet location A lot of character Nothing all good
- Boo (1/5): Absolutely not a pleasurable stay! Not worth the money paid - Nothing Location, cleanliness, breakfast and service.
The pictures looked great and I expected a pleasurable stay with good breakfast in the pub. It turned out to be located in an isolated area, a very dark place all around when we arrived, without any direction for parking, and we thought we've got the wrong place because the pub was closed and no one was available for checking in. The hotel staff who we managed to contact by phone told us to enter an annex near the pub with a code, and that we would find the keys there. No keys were found and upon a second contact the hotel staff told us the cleaner must have forgotten to place the keys there, so we agreed to check-in after dinner. Poor customer service apart, the rooms' conditions were unsatisfactory. They were cold and the bathrooms were not cleaned up to standard. Breakfast was served in a tent opposite the annex, rather than in the pub. Our stay was absolutely not pleasurable, and this accommodation was not worth the money paid.

- Boyce (8/5): Great long weekend , Nice pub and stay . Good service . Not the cheapest but acceptable price all considered . Would st - Rooms very nice . Pub was lovely and atmospheric . Lovely staff and the chefs who cooked the very nice breakfasts were great . It was ideal for our long weekend meeting friends who live very locally . Accommodation separate from pub and pub not open very often . Think not walking into the pub or reception to be greeted when returning felt a bit cold . The room was not warm on arrival with regret as was the breakfast room. But it was winter !!! Just felt a bit chilly around the edges 😟
- Foster (9/5): great pub and rooms, food and beer selection were brilliant, friendly staff - great traditional pub with excellent food, good beer selection, great room in the barn away form the pub a few times the electric in the room went off, the lights are on sensors so all the lights would randomly come on in the night when the electric dipped.

- Glyn R (10/5): - Our room ar the Red Lion was without a doubt one of the largest, and most classily furnished and decorated pub accomodation venues that we have ever stayed at...we were absolutely thrilled with the room we were given!
Unfortunately our plans didn't allow for us to have dinner at the pub as we would have liked to have done, bit we popped in for an after dinner drink and loved the ambience of the inn:)
Breakfast was also lovely! We would thoroughly recommend The Red Lion to anyone passing through the area :)
- Simon (10/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): It exceeded my expectations and will return in the future. - The location and it was very dog friendly although we weren’t staying with dogs we may well do in future. Nothing
- Caroline (9/5): Will return ! - The room was comfortably furnished & warm . We ate in the bar as we were travelling with our dog . The food , service & value were excellent . The staff without exception were helpful & friendly. Better ventilation in the breakfast room would be good as came out smelling of cooking smells.
- Fiona (9/5): - Welcoming. Characterful. Warm comfortable room. Friendly staff
- Bridget (9/5): A graft pub with superbly appointed rooms to sleep in. - Welcoming staff, well placed for nearby wedding venue. Superbly furnished warm rooms.
We were pampered and happy in our room.
Would definitely recommend. The pub was cold and the wood burners smoking…..this was. Probably because we arrived early. This was more than made up by the warmth of our welcome.
- Bridget (10/5): -
- John (9/5): -
- Davis (10/5): would definitely book here again - classsic english pub but with very comfortable and updated facilities
excellent meals and attentive ,welcoming staff nothing negative
- James (10/5): -
- Vanessa (10/5): What a proper pub/inn should be - special but not silly and we will be back. The food… the history and the food…. - We loved pretty much everything. The location is straight out of a Bridget Jones movie, the food utterly exceptional and all round brilliant value for money. The shower head was not fixed to the wall and the cold water wasn’t cold but literally they are tiny things. The rest was brilliant.
- Martin (10/5): This is our third stay and it’s been great every time - Lovely location, room and breakfast Nothing
- Foster (10/5): - room & pub were fantastic, food was great and good choice of ales in barn, power kept resetting, this triggered the room lights on sensors so randomly in the middle of the night the lights would come on and off on their own when resetting
- Paul (10/5): A fantastic original pub with great food and great staff - Beautiful pub in great location although a bit isolated. Village has no shop so no newspapers! Absolutely nothing
- Lorraine (10/5): We had a lovely stay, made welcome, the room was spacious & comfortable. Dinner & Breakfast were delicious - It’s a lovely inviting country pub, with a warm open fire and welcoming staff. There was nothing not to like.
- Arni Parni (10/5): -
- Frank (10/5): - The food was brilliant as always. The main reason why we keep going back No heating in room when we arrived
- Lucy (9/5): - Beautiful ensuite rooms adjoining this cosy gastropub. Beds were so comfortable! Delicious home cooked food and a welcoming atmosphere. Was a perfect 1 night stay as part of a group
- Amanda (8/5): Lovely location, excellent food and great staff - would highly recommend (really close to Fleet Air Arm Museum if you’re - Lovely quiet rural location - nice that the rooms are in a separate converted barn and the decor is really pleasing. Rooms are well equipped and very clean. Staff were all super friendly and a big shout out to the gentleman who cooks breakfast - he is great at his job - food cooked to perfection and he remembers what guests had from the day before. Food at breakfast and dinner is really good quality and has great taste too. The home cooked biscuits in the bedrooms are a nice touch and good quality tea/coffee is provided. The pub is closed in the afternoons so we were contacted in the morning by a member of staff who sent through very clear instructions on how to enter the accommodation. Unfortunately no key had been left for us and it took 30 minutes to get hold of someone and them come to us to let us in. The problem was rectified very quickly once I was able to get hold of someone so the mangers just need to make sure the numbers given for contact are available. Luckily we could sit inside whilst we waited just not in our room.
- Smitherman (10/5): Very welcoming stay with a great breakfast and wonderful staff - It was very welcoming and the workers were lovely!! N/a
- Geoff (8/5): -
- Hanna (10/5): Perfekt mysigt ställe - Super mysigt ställe med Pub med fantastisk mat. Super trevlig personal. Super fint rum.
- karen (10/5): Fantastic overnight stay - will definitely be back! - Absolutely eveything Only one tiny thing. Although breakfast itself and the breakfast room were absolutely superb, looking out into the empty wedding marquee wasn’t the best view. Maybe some sort of blind would be a great add-on? Otherwise fabulous throughout
- Jeanne-Marie (7/5): -
- Libby (9/5): -
- Fay (10/5): We will be back - Everything and the team were amazing they made us so welcome Liked it all
- Edwards (10/5): Excellent in all respects -
- NICHOLAS (9/5): -
- warren (10/5): -
- Lucy (8/5): - Good room and comfortable beds.
Staff friendly No where to sit or get a drink other than room when pub was closed.

- Diane (10/5): Excellent accommodation very clean and comfortable - Breakfast had a very good choice on the menu The location was a little remote and parking was a bit of a pain because of road works there was a diversion to the car park The parking

- CASADA HOME (10/5): ** 10 OUT OF 10 ** ONE WORD SUMS UP RED LION AND THAT IS EXCELLENT - EVERYTHING, the staff and service was amazing in particular the 19 year old Assistant Manager very impressed with her. Food was high quality, good value and locally sourced. Quality bedrooms were nicely furnished spacious and spotlessly clean. NOTHING WE DID NOT LIKE EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT
- Karen (9/5): -
- Liam (9/5): Red Lion Inn - Was very comfortable and the room felt very premium. Could possibly use with a bigger car park, was very full with a wedding party occupying it & the road nearby.
- Susan (9/5): Fabulous little find. - Rooms spotless, hosts and staff really friendly and helpful. Perfect location. Food excellent. So glad we have found this little gem. There is nothing not to like.
- Sheila (10/5): The stay made our trip very enjoyable and served our need extremely well. - Location very conveinent for our trip.
- Helen (9/5): Great pub with really comfortable rooms. - I love this place! Our third stay here. The staff are really friendly…big shout out to Dave our waiter who was amazing and looked after our table really well. Rooms are very clean and comfortable and now the green light by the smoke alarm on the ceiling has been taped over it no longer keeps me awake!
Breakfast/lunch and dinner were all delicious. We will be back.
Highly recommend. Nothing!
- Jayne (7/5): Delicious food, cheap, uncomfortable bed. - Pretty location. Delicious food. Good size room. Lovely toiletries. Very uncomfortable bed. I could feel the springs in the mattress resulting in a poor night’s sleep. Dubious looking marks/stains on the underside of the bed throw.
- Zillah (9/5): -
- Ryfordstal (10/5): A beautiful night in a great landscape. - We travelled from Belfast, on our way to a wedding at nearby North Cadbury Court for the weekend. There was a group of 6 of us, with three separate rooms.
We were greeted with great hospitality from the staff and we had dinner that evening. I had the fish and chips, which was AMAZING! The rooms are so big, and everything is spotlessly clean. Breakfast was also great the next morning.
We were all really impressed with The Red Lion. I couldn't fault anything at all. There is clearly a lot of heart and soul that have gone in to making the Red Lion a success, and it shows!
