Guest Reviews
- Jessica (10/5): A fabulous introduction to the Brazilian rainforest - Breakfast was amazing. A beautiful spread of food and the staff was more than willing to get you anything else they could, in my case that was additional fried eggs. There are also monkeys in the nearby trees in the mornings that are eating and playing.
The staff is always available and more than happy to accommodate in any way they can. Danilo was a great tour guide and always in a great mood trying his best to make sure guests get to see the wild life and beautiful views. The cottages are adorable however a little on the small side with small beds though I believe they are making some renovations and going to fix that!

- Beverley (10/5): Perfect opportunity to explore Amazon Forest fauna and flora - We loved everything. Great family run business complemented by a dedicated team. With special mention to Pedro! Food delicious and locally sourced. Trips so interesting on the water and amended to meet the needs of visitors. We were the only ones on the river apart from the local people who live there or fishing. Liked everything.

- Charmaine (10/5): An unforgettable stay surrounded by nature, warm hospitality, delicious food, and total comfort. - I had an incredible stay at Alta Vista Lodge. From arrival, Danilo and his staff were warm and welcoming. The grounds are beautiful, full of flowers and trees, with a peaceful view over the Rio Negro.
My room was clean, stylish, and very comfortable, the bed was the best I’ve had during my travels!
The food was fresh, varied, and delicious, and the homemade ice cream was amazing. The daily tours were well-organized and a great way to explore the area, with special thanks to Pedro (boat driver) and Leon (our fantastic guide).
Overall, an exceptional experience, I highly recommend Alta Vista Lodge to anyone visiting the area. Nothing everything was just amazing!
- Nicole (10/5): Truly memorable 💖 - We had a truly memorable stay. The lodges are situated in a beautiful location with stunning views over the Manacapuru River. The garden was created with lots of attention to detail so that guests could enjoy and relax in the surroundings. But what made this stay unique was the family that ran this business. Their hospitality, generosity, kindness, and love for the place is incomparable to anything I have encountered before. We had great fun on the boat trips. The food was absolutely delicious. Can't recommend it enough. Thank you for making our stay so very special.
- Alessandro (10/5): Cozy atmosphere and amazing amazonian landscape in a family owned river lodge. Totally suggested!! - The lodge vibe is amazing . family owned lodge in which they really take care about everything from activities to meals - never paying for extra prices This is absolutely not a negative aspect, but the lodge is family owned so the activity choice is limited as run by family members/partner guides. Of course they make sure to always make guests choose which activities to do
- Simon (9/5): A top familly owned lodge far from tourists - - The view is amazing
- The guided tour on the rivers with ranger in perfect English and far from touristic masses
- the homemade food is excellent
- all staff from the lodge is super nice Nothing
- Jennifer (10/5): - Very welcoming, great home cooked food, they share their knowledge and love of the animals and vegetation with you. Be prepared to be out in the heat! Lovely cabins with private beds, air conditioning and bathrooms! Highly recommend who can do the 186 stairs to the water
- Nikolaus (10/5): Super expercience, like in a Hilton hotel. Loved it - Super atmospheric, perfect super tasty style, love for detail Nothing
- Gayle (10/5): This is the perfect place to stay in the Amazon! Beautiful location, friendly and gracious owners, well informed tours. - This is a fantastic option in the Amazon region! Is it 2 hour drive from my house; the hotel picks you up and takes you back. They offer two wonderful daily tours of the Amazon region; the guide/owner is super informative and very enthusiastic. The food is excellent, homemade every day; this was some of the best we had in our one month in Brazil. Everything is included in the price; the even have beer and wine included! The Casitas that you sleep in are adorable, and they are clean and well supplied. This is a small hotel, so there are not that many guests, and you have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and share your experience together. Absolutely nothing, they were great! Oh, and they mentioned 168 stairs up from the river/ tours back to the hotel. I was anxious about that, but this retiree was able to do it every day in the heat. If you’re in moderately a good health and have no arthritis issues, there are no problems. Just take it slow.
- Jos (10/5): Beautiful accommodation, breath-taking views, heartwarming service - A lot of love of Danilo, Maria, Natalia and the team is going into this lodge and in making sure you get a perfect experience. Great food and interesting tours give you an insight in this extraordinary Amazon region just a short drive from Manaus. Especially as all is included: accommodation, transfer from/to Manaus (airport or hotel), daily tours and all food and drinks.
- Conrad (10/5): You have found your lodge to experience the River! - We did a very extensive research on how to experience the Amazon River in Brazil and now after we have visited Alta Vista we could conclude that going to that lodge was the best way to get introduced to the River. We wish we would have known that after spending time at the lodge it is not really necessary to embark on a river excursion from Manaus.
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (8/5): Amazing 3 days and many thanks to the family - Fantastic location great family Toilet a job to flush
- Gsands (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely wonderful, all-inclusive, family-run eco lodge overlooking the Manacapuru River, which included delicious homemade meals, great and diverse tours led by the personable and knowledgeable Danilo - twice a day, and, in the end, an unforgettable experience for the entire family. In the course of three days, we were able to see numerous wildlife, including sloths, squirrel and saki monkeys, dolphins, iguanas, piranhas, and a variety of birds in a beautiful setting. We were also be able to see where the Amazon River meets the Manacapuru River and swim in the Mancapuru River on multiple days. Highly recommend. Not applicable.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (10/5): Fantastic Views and Hospitality - Alta Vista Amazon Lodge sits on a beautiful property. The view of the river is spectacular and birds and monkeys are abundant. The meals we had were wonderful with great variety. Can't think of any aspect of our visit that was disappointing.
- Rana (10/5): Beautiful location, caring staff, excellent excursions, delicious meals - Our stay was wonderful!! We are a family of 5 so we reserved the superior cabin and one of the smaller cabins. The superior bungalow is truly superior- and the view from its balcony is amazing. The smaller cabin was fine a well, but much more standard. Both cabins were very clean, the beds were comfortable, the sheets and towels were bleach white, and the coolers worked well! The kitchen staff made us delicious homemade meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and there was always a variety to choose from. One of our family members has a dairy sensitivity, and the staff was very careful to indicate which foods contained diary products so she could avoid those. I appreciated their careful attention. And our excursions were so well done- many great and fun options. We spent 3 fill days there, and left feeling educated and engaged. At this family run lodge, you are treated like friends! Highly recommended!! Nothing
- Marysia (10/5): Unforgettable…from the owners to the staff, the views to the meals, the excursions and cozy group vibe. This is one of - The views of the Manacapuru River were unbeatable. The chalet that we stayed in was perfect in size and amenities and furnishing.
- Matt (10/5): Fabulous Amazon experience - Super experience over five days. A real feel for the Amazon rainforest, river and culture. Wonderful host in Danilo - every day two boat trips out into the Manacapuru river to see dolphins, sloths, monkeys, iguanas, small crocodiles and amazing birds. Facilities are basic but the chalets have AC so nice and cool. Food is AMAZING … drinks - beer wine water sodas - all freely available included in the price. Plus excellent caiparinhas in the evening. It was everything we hoped for
- Lance (10/5): True authentic Amazon experience! - Family owned and run Amazon lodge. The food was fresh and delicious. The people were so kind and friendly. The tours were very authentic and amazing. It was an amazing adventure into the Amazon. Something our family will never forget. My wife didn’t like the small frog that lived in our toilet. But your in the Amazon and you’ll see and experience a lot things in the wild.
- Luke (10/5): Amazing and all-inclusive Amazon stay. - Everything was incredible: the location, view, bot tripe, food, and service were all amazing. If that wasn’t enough, Danilo and his team made every effort to accommodate our needs including procuring a new microSD card for our camera. We were a little nervous about wiring money for the deposit but it worked great and we settled the remaining balance by credit card in site. We are so glad we were able to spend 4 nights in the bungalow. Memories for a lifetime.
The food was amazing and everything was fresh and local. So many great ice creams and different fish to try. The tambaqui was our favorite.
Highly recommend the floating forest boat tour. Very quiet and serene while floating through the trees.
- Alessandro (10/5): Altavista lodge is your homestay in the Amazon. Food, activities location are excellent. - All the food was amazing. It was home-cooked and with local ingredients. The offer was varied and abundant. The fish, in particular, was really good. Nothing really, all very positive.
- Marina (10/5): It was a great experience. We’ve discovered river, animals and plants of Amazonia - Amazing nature, different interesting plants, delicious local food, beautiful view over the river and great hosts, which are super friendly
- Susan (10/5): Can’t wait to visit again! - The lodge is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in the bungalow with a balcony overlooking the river. Amazing sunsets. The food was superb. Danilo and his family made us feel very welcome.
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional - it was very very interesting! Danilo does everything to make your stay comfortable and interesting.
- Connor (10/5): Perfect staff, perfect view, perfect facilities - Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. My girlfriend and I went on our first big trip from Australia, this was our first stop in Brazil. They made sure to make sure we always feel welcomed and feel at home. The tours take up most of the day and are very informative. We would definitely come back again, it is a lovely resort on a lovely part of the Amazon Rainforest. A++++++ Nothing, they done great.
- Wei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alec (10/5): This is a family owned and run stay. Danilo and his parents made sure we had the best stay. Danilo and David (our boat c - The property was deep enough in the Amazon to have many wild encounters with animals. It was very personable and homely. Nothing!
- Anastasia (10/5): Exceptional - Best stay ever and we have visited many places in the past. Alta vista is just magical, the vibes , the peacefullnes and the love you receive from danilo and his parents.
Amazing homemade food by Maria, homemade icecreams everyday with new amazonian fruits we have never heard of. And fresh food everyday (the best farofa i'v ever had in brazil).
They catered to all our needs.
The tours were absolutely amazin! Danilo and David have a true eagle eye, we got to see endless animals, birds and dolphins.
We can't wait till our next trip to brazil so we can come back to this paradise
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional! A little paradise not to be missed! - Exceptional stay beyond our expectations! Well organized tours, we were able to observe many animals and delicious food, with fruit juices from the Amazon and tasty ice creams. All in a most pleasant atmosphere and a concern that our stay is memorable. Nothing!
- Sergei (10/5): Amazing Amazon views and great wild nature tours. - Outstanding view on Amazon river!!!!!!
Super exciting tours with Danilo and David (omg, this man has an eagle eye and sees every creature in the jungle)
Dedicated huge thanks to Danilo's mother. She took excellent care about us and we felt home. And big thanks for the birthday cake for our son! Great memories!
The loft was very comfortable for the family of 4 people. Nothing. Just perfect!
- Bianca (10/5): The best hotel we have ever stayed in - Our stay at Alta Vista was truly unforgettable. We decided to end our two week trip around Brazil in the Amazon and we are so glad we chose Alta Vista for our stay. After spending two nights in Manaus town we were picked up by our driver, arranged by Alta Vista, and taken to our lodge. Upon arrival we were blown away by the sheer beauty of the hotel, the gardens, the surrounding nature, the lodges and most of all the breathtaking view of the Amazon and Manacapuru river. We stayed in the Superior Bungalow with a glorious balcony overlooking the river, from where we watched dolphins play and monkeys swing. The food and drink was freshly prepared every day for the guests using some of the fruits and vegetables grown in their own gardens. There was an amazing selection of food everyday with a variety of fish, meat, fruits and much more. They kindly catered to my dairy intolerance by providing lactose free milk, drinks and desserts, Maria (the main chef) even made me a delicious dairy free birthday cake. Each day we got to pick from a wide selection of jungle tours and experienced the beauty of the Amazon rainforest and river. We completed two 3-4 hour tours every day, each tour as unique as the next. We got to witness and experience the life of many animals within the rainforest including pink and grey dolphins, sloths, toucans, caimans, a wide variety of beautiful birds, iguanas, and monkeys to name a few. We visited flooded forests, watched multiple beautiful sunsets on the river, swam in the river, fished using traditional Amazonian methods catching a wide variety of fish including Puranas and witnessed the meeting of the waters. All the stays at Alta Vista are all inclusive including the food and drink, tours and transfers. Our host Danilo was incredible, from his vast knowledge of the Amazon and the surrounding nature to his hospitality and ensuring all our needs were catered for by himself and his amazing staff. Nothing! It was perfect.
- Merav (10/5): A lifetime experience. Family atmosphere and personal attention. Excellent service. Food and location are exceptional. R -
- Patrick (10/5): A fantastic, once-in-a-lifetime adventure! - Our stay could not have been better. Danilo and his family are such gracious and welcoming hosts. They looked after our every need and even indulged our three boys with fishing adventures and crocodile sightings. The room was immaculate and had the most amazing view. We were able to sit on the deck and watch many dolphins jumping just below us as the sun set across the river. The food was simple and delicious and filled with local flavors. Our kids were particularly fond of the daily selection of different ice cream flavors. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic Amazon experience with a good dose of comfort. As a side note, we also saw almost zero mosquitos and did not have a single bite on any of us. Nothing. Everything was great.
- Yang (10/5): best pousada we’ve ever stayed in Brazil - a hotel run by a warm family, excellent service and wonderful food nothing
- James (10/5): Great stay on the Amazon. -
- Ben (10/5): Amazing Amazon experience - Best way to see a unique part of the Amazon! This is a beautiful and unique experience in an untouched part of the Amazon. We were lucky to have several unique experiences with several different animals we didn’t expect to see. It was incredible. The home made food by mama Maria was out of this world. If you want a unique once in a life time experience, go here x
- Suan (10/5): Wonderful, super, great Amazon experience. - Everything was great with our three night stay at Alta Vista Amazon Lodge. Host Danilo is very knowledgeable with the wildlife and the plants of surrounding area. The schedule of the activities were well planned and the excursions were well organized. we saw many types of birds, gray and pink dolphins, sloths, caymans and monkeys. The home cooking meals by Danilo’s mother were very tasty with fresh fruits. The staff were very friendly. The facilities were basic but functional. The location is about one hour and a half from Manaus. Transportation to the property is provided. Overall, it was a great Amazon experience. None
- Laurie (10/5): Very relaxing stay in the most unique nature - highly recommended! - Amazing lodge overlooking the Manacapuru/Amazon river! The owners and staff are really lovely and take care of everything. Danilo, the son of the owners, speaks English very well (which is quite unique in Brazil) and accompanies all tours with great enthusiasm. The rooms are clean, cosy and have comfortable beds! The food is homemade, delicious, has fresh ingredients and lots of choice. The Caiprinha cocktails of Maria are also highly recommended while laying on the sun beds overlooking the river. Not to forget, the “cheese, wine, dolphins and sunset” boat tour is picture perfect!
As we read in other conments, the prices on booking indeed are all-inclusive (besides including all tours, it also includes airport transfer, all food, drinks and even alcoholic beverages). Our stay has been absolutely worth it! Nothing: everything was perfect
- Abbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- ayanna (10/5): Magical - It's very difficult to convey just how special Alta Vista is. Everything about it is perfect. The views of the river from the property are are incredible. The rooms are spotless and comfortable, with hot water and air conditioning. The food was delicious and fresh - lots of fruit and fish. The best part of our stay, however, were the people. Danilo and his parents are truly lovely people. They were so kind and accommodating. They made sure that we were comfortable at all levels times and we will never forget their hospitality. I really hope we can go back soon.
- Cody (10/5): They make you feel like family. We enjoyed every part of our stay and highly recommend Alta Vista. - Every part of the stay at Alta Vista Amazon Lodge exceeded our expectations. The transfer from Manaus was easy to arrange and provided some additional sightseeing. The meals are home cooked, with many options for our family that had various dietary needs. They were so accommodating, and in the end we just kept eating too much. Fresh juices, local fish, homemade Acai and ice creams and more.
The excursions around the river were also very enjoyable. It is a small lodge which means you have much more of a personalized experience. Small boats with a driver and guide took us out into the river to watch dolphins, fish for piranhas, and even take a swim. The water was low during our stay, which was just due to the season. I would suggest trying to book when the water is higher. That being said, they made the best of it for us and in the end we still got to do and see everything we had hoped for.
- Sander (10/5): Amazing experience with excellent service & location, spectaculair tours for wildlife & nature - Wonderful location & accomodation with very few mosquitos in the middle of amazon rain forest, with excellent personalized hostmanship. -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a basically perfect way to experience the Amazon. The lodge is rustic and comfortable for those who don't mind roughing it a little. The best thing is they treat you more like a friend visiting from out of town than a customer. They do everything they can to make you welcome and enjoy your stay. Be prepared for really experiencing the rainforest up close, including getting rained on in an open boat while out fishing for piranhas or seeing pink dolphins, or getting a bit muddy while tramping through the jungle, and you'll have a great time. I can't recommend it highly enough!
- John (10/5): 5 STAR SERVICE - THREE NIGHT STAY IN PARADISE - After a few weeks touring we stayed at this fantastic property for three nights. The hosts are wonderful people who made our three night stay truly memorable. The location overlooks the Manacapuru river with breathtaking views. The chalets are detached and offer very comfortable double beds and private bathrooms which are spotlessly clean.
We opted to eat at the property and the food was outstanding definitely better than many 5star restaurants.
The owners Maria, Milton and Daniello ensured that we were afforded every comfort available. They provided exceptional service and really made us feel welcome. There are saki monkeys in the nearby trees with abundant birdlife. Milton explained what the fruits growing in the gardens. Maria's homemade ice cream with a cold beer sitting on the viewing platform at sunset left a lasting memory of our trip.
- Veronica (10/5): - Very nice hotel with the most amazing view of the river. The hotel is family owned, intimate and private. No large crowds or loud noises, particularly if you book during the week. They can arrange for you to travel the river, if you want to, but we decided to stay put and chill. Breakfast is included in the price, the other meals are provided at a reasonable cost.
