Guest Reviews
- Natascha (2/5): Überteuerte nicht empfehlenswerte Unterkunft - Heruntergekommene Ferienwohnung. Sehr schlechte Betten; nicht sauber und lieblos. Bis auf die Lage, alles.
- Carolina (10/5): -
- Linda (9/5): Super comfortable room, great view. Amazing dinner. - Room was lovely, super comfortable with lots of space. Dinner was delicious, we both enjoyed our mains and puddings. Staff were friendly and helpful. Thought breakfast was a bit of a let down. Would have liked more variety of fruit in the fruit salad some different nuts/seeds toppings along with plain yogurt and more space to serve ourselves - really only space for one customer at a time. Our coffee wasn't filtered properly and there were coffee grains in the cup.
- Dragan (10/5): -
- Matt (9/5): - L'emplacement Un peu vétuste
- Rob (8/5): Great location but missing a few essential bits. - Excellent location for climbing Ben Nevis. Right by the high street. Recommend Black Isle Bar for pizza! Stayed in the 2 bed mews apartment and it was missing a few basic things that you’d expect from self catering accommodation. No tea towel or dish cloth. Only one knife! The beds had very creaky metal frames.
- Chantal (7/5): Hotel sencillo, precio elevado. - Habitación amplia y decorada sobriamente. Buena ubicación cerca del pueblo. Parking privado.
- Stephen (6/5): Overall a great location to stay in, it was the staff that let it down. - Close to the water front and town, easy to walk everywhere Given the bare necessities: one roll of toilet paper, empty shampoo and body wash, no dishwashing liquid or tea towels. Staff below the loft in the restaurant were extremely loud well after closing time; banging & crashing, yelling, whistling outside our windows, and much the same at 6AM when they came back for the morning shift.
- Lesley (8/5): We’ll remember this for a long time because of the food. - The restaurant was fantastic, and great value, one of the best meals we had in Scotland. Room was double aspect. We left a laptop in our room, and they very kindly phoned us and kept it for us till we could go and get it. Breakfast was great. ‘Loch view’ was across a main road.
Bett ziemlich unbequem. Haus brutal hellhörig. In Summe daher extrem schlechter Schlaf.
- Moiroid (7/5): - The bed was extremely comfortable
Good variety of options for breakfast The bath grouting was very dirty and had not been wiped clean
The hot water was temperamental and had to endure two cold showers
- isabelle (8/5): -
Mag beter
- Mike (9/5): Staff was great, great location and very good restaurant - We were a group of 10 - we had dinner one night and it was very good - everyone enjoyed it and the staff was great. The location was great - an easy walk into town. I have no complaints
- Belinda (3/5): Horrible service, lack of privacy, disgusting breakfast. Do not stay here. - Easy to find The staff - disengaged, annoyed, unhelpful. Treated us as an inconvenience. As required during check-in, we were asked to select a breakfast time slot. Following morning, staff treated us like we had no such booking and literally ignored us in the empty dining area, while they chatted together in the reception. The food was disgusting, both the continental and hot food. Had to find our own bottle of drinking water as none provided, and no staff in the restaurant to help. Very disappointing stay and so not worth the high price.
- Tim (9/5): -
- Heidi (10/5): - Great location and the rooms were really cozy and inviting.
- Sigrun (8/5): Niedliche Unterkunft mit Seeblick - Eine niedliche Unterkunft mit Blick auf den See und die Highlands. Frühstück war eher nicht so gut.
- Cem (8/5): -
- Wen (9/5): We had a lovely stay at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel. The setting is hard to beat—nestled right by the river with the historic D -
- Gregory (6/5): - Son emplacement
- Kelly (7/5): Mostly good. - Good breakfast, good location. Charming place. Room was very basic. There appeared to be only one person on staff running hotel and restaurant simultaneously. While he did a pretty good job, it was a lot. My husband and I asked for a glass of wine and asked if we could drink it at one of the unoccupied tables, he told us that didn't convenience him. Twice he told us what didn't convenience him. We thought we were the customers. see above.
- Csyboka (8/5): -
- Nicole (3/5): Disappointing visit - Location convenient We’ve been travelling recently and made a stop in Fort William, with high expectations for the hotel. Lovely location. Unfortunately, the room was very disappointing given the price paid.
Room was on ground floor with French door and this had been left unlocked.
The en-suite was poorly stocked, with only a quarter of a roll of toilet paper and full replacements, no shower mat, and a bottle of cif cleaning fluid left on the floor. The room itself was uncomfortably hot and no instructions of how to adjust.
At breakfast, the staff seemed overstretched. The coffee was so poor it had to be sent back, and the continental selection was underwhelming. On a positive note, the scrambled eggs and salmon were excellent and thoroughly enjoyable.
- Alison (10/5): Great stay - The staff were super ,polite and very kind .
We had a ground floor room with easy access to the car park
The hotel was within a 10 minute walk of the town .. All was exceptionally good .
- Gillian (9/5): - Comfortable room & four poster bed. Good views of the loch. Manager & staff very friendly and efficient. Dinner & breakfast very good. Made us feel very welcome
- Ailis (9/5): Perfect hotel for exploring Fort William - Excellent location. Access at the rear particularly helpful when travelling with my dog.
- Niel (9/5): Hotel in central Fort William right next to the Loch with beautiful views. - Hotel in central Fort William right next to the Loch with beautiful views. Room had all the advertised amenities. Included on-site parking was a nice bonus. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was also great. Floor and furniture were quite old and creaked a little.
- Alison (6/5): It was ok - It was central and we had a good meal in the restaurant We were in a 2 bedroom apartment.
The 2nd bedroom was very small and the shared bathroom was tiny.
There was a large kitchen/dining/living area upstairs, which was great.
It was ok for two nights, but I wouldn’t want to be staying for longer.
- Andrew (9/5): Great location and comfortable rooms - Good location in fort William and great breakfast
- viy777 (10/5): -
- Frederig (4/5): -
- Christa (5/5): It’s fine, not great - Good breakfast, walking distance to shops and restaurants, onsite free parking Carpet in halls and rooms dirty, shower didn’t drain well so had to stand in backed up water to shower 😫(room 5)
- Donna (10/5): - The room was clean, comfortable, attractive. The restaurant is delicious- for both breakfast and dinner. The staff are friendly, helpful, genuinely helpful. The location is wonderfully close to Ft William and overlooks the loch. n/a
- Lisa (10/5): -
- Heather (9/5): Fabulous retreat right on the loch. - Great stay - lovely location, food was very good and great hospitality. A little odd being put in a disabled room but otherwise standard was great. The only concerning thing was you couldn’t put food on your hotel bill and payments had to be made immediately. There was a sense of distrust that you would not pay your bill. Other than that, highly recommended.
- Klaus (8/5): Guter Standort, gute Unterkunft, gemütlich - Nettes Personal, gemütlich Sofabett als dritte Person
- Abigail (6/5): Ok but needs attention to detail and basic training of staff. - Location is good Housekeeping need glasses. Hairs in bottom of shower tray, lots of dust in all areas and shampoo dispenser had not been used in so long that the first few squirts had changed colour due to rust.
- Provan (9/5): -
- James (5/5): nice room breakfast lovely but cleanliness not up to standard - room good size breakfast really good smelt of wet dog at reception and on stairs leading to room
toilet had hair on toilet seat also toilet not cleaned looked if someone had used toilet .
- Goodworth (8/5): A great option for staying in Fort William - The room was quiet, cosy, and well decorated. There were plenty of plugs, a nice kettle, and a good amount of space for our dogs. The shower was quite stiff and difficult to get the temperature right on, and the pump bottles didn't all work, though it was powerful and spacious.
- juan jose (10/5): - Limpio,desayuno super y personal muy amable
- Robert (10/5): Perfect hotel attached to Fine Dining restaurant. - This is our new favourite place and from the train home we’ve just booked to stay again in Autumn. The location, view, room size and cleanliness are perfect, if you add to that the best restaurant in Fort William and wonderful staff it’s unbeatable.
My wife was so sad to leave we couldn’t resist rebooking immediately. There is absolutely nothing to write here.
- Mark (10/5): Excellent stay -
- Dilys (5/5): Enjoyed our stay. - Location is excellent and rooms are spacious. The kitchen was closed, I was only notified of this after payment was taken, there was therefore no breakfast available. It would have been helpful if closure in out of season times was clear at booking.
- Stuart (5/5): OK for a short stay, wouldn't have wanted to have booked a week due to the noise from the restaurant - Friendly staff on the desk. Location is convenient to walk to Fort William and has a view over Loch Linnhe.
Apartment is a good size, beds comfy and netflix on TV is also good. Apartment is above the Silly Goose restaurant. Dining noise isn't intrusive but there's a lot of noise post closure (i.e. typically when trying to sleep). It's not clear that the apartment is directly above the restaurant when booking.
Be aware that the road outside the hotel is the main road through Fort William so can be busy (including the local 'yoof' in their 'pops and bangs' modded cars.
- carlo (9/5): Soggiorno d’epoca a Fort William. - Struttura bel restaurata in palazzetto antico e pittoresco.
- Shael (9/5): Surprisingly great stay for a 3 star hotel. Great breakfast and a nice extra touches in the room to make our stay more c - Great location, friendly and accomodating staff The fold out sofa wasn’t the most comfortable but my son made do
- Shannon (8/5): Great overnight in Fort William - Location, staff, room size, comfortable bed Warm was room, a fan to circulate air would be appreciated
- Mark (10/5): It was the perfect little place to stay in Fort William. - Check in was easy, rooms were clean and staff very friendly. It was just what we expected.
- Mary (9/5): want to come back - The setting was lovely. The food was yummy. Staff was very helpful. With the unexpected heat the room was a bit hot. Certainly not a deal breaker.
- Liz (9/5): -
- Olga (9/5): A charming hotel with great location, comfort, and a very welcoming atmosphere. - The location was absolutely perfect. The hotel is just a few steps away from the centre of Fort William, with shops, restaurants, and cafés all within very easy walking distance. Everything is so close that it’s always pleasant to go out. There is also a nice view right across the road from the hotel. The hotel itself is very charming and cozy. I really enjoy staying in small hotels, and this one has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. The interior is authentic and stylish, with beautiful furniture and many paintings — it feels almost like a small art gallery. The room was quite spacious, which made the stay very comfortable. The hotel is dog-friendly, which was important for me. Everything was clean and well maintained. The mattress deserves a special mention — it was soft and comfortable, and I slept very well. Overall, the hotel felt cozy, relaxing, and full of character. I understand that this is part of the traditional British style, but the separate hot and cold water taps were not very convenient and may not suit everyone.

- MV (8/5): -
- Bradley (6/5): - The young man who checked us in was very polite and friendly, the breakfast was very nice and lady serving friendly also. After booking we received an email to say the restaurant isn’t open on Sunday nights (coming to the restaurant was our reason for booking the Lime Tree) but they don’t refund cancellations so we had no choice but to stay there. Unfortunately we booked a premium room but when we went up to it, it was very clear it hadn’t been cleaned from the previous guest, the young man was incredibly apologetic and showed us to one of the basic rooms until the night manager arrived and she would come and see us, He came to inform us that was the only room we had so they would refund us the difference. No apology from the night manager or the boss the next day.
- john (7/5): -
- Deirdre (8/5): - Lovely room , comfortable bed
- Sheanagh (8/5): -
- Richard (9/5): Perfect location, great place to stop - All was great for the price. Room 11 is great as this helped with taking the dog out for a toilet break as there is a door to the outside. Breakfast was great and plentiful setting one up for the day. Room was very comfortable with a great shower. Nothing - everything was great
- Jenny (8/5): Pleasant friendly staff and surroundings - Very comfortable clean spacious room. Breakfast very nice and cooked to order.
Dinner was lovely well presented and tasty .
Great to see local artwork for sale on walls. No fruit salad on Sunday?
- Sławomir (9/5): - Różnorodność. Stan techniczny w pokoju jednej z zasłon.
- Herder (10/5): Great place to stay in Fort Williams! Close to the shops. -
RAS.
- Connor (9/5): Lovely staff, charming room with a beautiful view. - Lovely staff, charming room with a beautiful view. Very good breakfast too!
- Ian (9/5): -
- maria jose (8/5): Muy buena relación calidad/precio.
- Carlos (10/5): -
- Qinbo (9/5): -
- Sonya (10/5): Very friendly people and impeccable rooms. - Very friendly people. Lovely room. Delicious food. Beautiful location
- Andrew (7/5): Ok for one night stop over good location - Decent sized room Bathroom mould around bath, bar area not comfortable to relax like a reception area
- Stephen (10/5): Quiet, cozy and relaxing with amazing food. - Stayed for one night with my wife and son to ride the Jacobite train the next day and loved it. The rooms looked as if they were recently renovated. Very comfortable, cozy, clean and quiet. Had access to the courtyard from the room which was really nice. The Silly Goose restaurant attached to the hotel was amazing! We had dinner and breakfast, and the food was absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend anyone staying at the Lime Tree to have dinner and breakfast at the Silly Goose!! If ever in Fort William again I will definitely book another stay at the Lime Tree Hotel, hopefully more than one night. Overall great experience!
- Sophie (9/5): -
- Francis (8/5): -
- LindaShields (5/5): Not great but clean and good location - Location broke our journey, easy to find and had parking.
Room (10) not great but clean and comfy bed. Bathroom very good!
Restaurant not owned by hotel but food was very good Located right beside access door which banged every time it closed
Lighting in room was terrible. Only mirror in room where I could use hairdryer was squished onto wardrobe door closest to wall. Whoever thought that was a good idea must have been bald!
Needed to be Einstein to work the TV. Ended up having to use our home login just to get into BBC i-player. Freeview stations didnt work. Showed no stations recognised!
Breakfast continental was extremely basic! Even the coffee " no cappucino / espresso etc in the mornings " - only brewed coffee available. Staff member helpful however and at least made me a stronger coffee.
- Alphons (9/5): - Fijne ruime kamer, goed verzorgd ontbijt, dorpscentrum op loopafstand Het is nogal gehorig
- Elke (8/5): Eintauchen ins echte Schottland! ;-)
- Andrew (9/5): Friendly staff, great location and a good quality breakfast - Great location, clean, friendly and a good breakfast Nothing
- Jane (6/5): - Staff and location fabulous. The restaurant was first class. The room was in newer part of hotel for people with disabilities. It lacked ambience (hospital like) and not what I expected when chose to stay in an historic hotel. I was very disappointed by room and felt not value for money.
- Lukas (10/5): -
- Mary (7/5): Very convenient for high street, a pleasant stay for one night on route to Highlands. - Comfortable, traditional Decor a bit tired
