Guest Reviews
- Leighton (8/5): -
- mary (8/5): - Clean, comfortable
- Richards (10/5): - Comfortable place to stay with a bicycle. Difficult to find in the dark cycling from the station.
- Megan (7/5): -
- Pascal (10/5): - Quiet location
Private parking
To the restaurants ca. 20 minutes walking (take the path along the seaside)
Welcoming owner. No breakfast available
- Paul (7/5): Excellent stop off - Clean
- James (10/5): - Stayed here 3 times for work trips. Its fantastic easy getting in and out, its quiet and comfortable Nothing
- Sebastien (5/5): - La chambre single était toute petite 2x2.5m
- Hay (8/5): -
- Jake (9/5): -
- Guest (8/5): Did the job for the purpose of my stay - No breakfast available Small bathroom
- Amanda (9/5): Good overnight option for exploring the north-east of Scotland - Clean comfortable en-suite room in a house on the outskirts of Wick.
Self check in - good clear instructions given.
Parking available
Tea making facilities in the room
Local shop and food available in Wick The room was quite small with limited space to hang up wet jackets and waterproof trousers without making a mess. Quite expensive for a room only - but seems to be comparable with other accommodation in the area - and in fairness cleaner and more comfortable than some hotels I have stayed in in the UK recently.
- Dmitry (9/5): Great Guest House - Easy check-in, very clean, working shower, the sound insulation is actually quite good, comfortable bed and a big openable window A bit too far if you are on foot(30 min if you are going from the station), however it’s very close to the sea, literally 2 minutes from the cliffs
- Kirsti (10/5): Great find - My room was small but ideal! I was only staying a single night so I could catch the morning ferry back home to Orkney. My room had everything I needed, was super cosy and really comfy. Will definitely be back again next time I'm on the same ferry and have already recommended it to several friends! Nothing

- Freya (10/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - I am in the area for work.
I booked for one week to give me time to look for somewhere closer to my work location but I am very happy with the property and I have extended my stay.
The room is excellent, the internet is strong, parking is great and Peter and Kerry who are the hosts are very helpful 👍
- Hassan (8/5): -
- Richard (6/5): Lovely comfortable stay, missed early morning braekfast - I was a little disappointed the new owners have scrapped breakfast. The house is a guest house, not a B&B.
The room has en suite, and tv. Everything is secure and very clean.
If all you require is a bed for the night at a budget rate. Don't forget to leave time get breakfast elsewhere though Consider putting breakfast back on the menu.
The house is a little way out of the way, guess a mile to amenities.
- Anaïs (10/5): -
- Laurence (9/5): - Location. Ease of booking. Nothing
- Haritha (10/5): Overall the stay works. - The room and bathroom is really clean and the location is good. Even the breakfast is not included but they still provide ready to eat oats . Room doesn’t have any view, Expect a good view from the room but disappointed.
- Janie (8/5): -
- Hay (8/5): -
- Alvaro (10/5): Excellent place to stay in your NC500 adventure - Cleanliness
Quiet place

Have all the essentials of a hotel room
- Leithiga (10/5): Will recommend and will stay here again if I am in the area. - Super friendly team, extremely easy check in, fast response, room was clean and perfect for my stay, parking was ample, near key places to visit in Wick, the Main Street was easily accessible in foot. 10/10 will recommend.
- Mike (9/5): - Our room was very clean with everything we needed. On site parking useful.
- Bartosz (7/5): - Cosy and clean apartment. Good location and great view. Even a single person needs a bit of space. The apartment was very small.
- Guest (5/5): Adequate but wouldn’t stay again - The room was clean and bed comfortable More milk for drinks and very impersonal
- mark (8/5): Great value - Inside was clean and newly decorated safe and secure. Much better than the look from outside
- Guest (10/5): -
- Jackie (7/5): Fine for one night - View over fields Small & too far from town centre
- Holly (10/5): - Great location, and our view from the bedroom window was lovely. Host was friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and clean. Highly recommend.
- Espen Bratten (9/5): -
- Vanessa (8/5): - - Struttura pulita e comoda
- Letto confortevole
- Bagno ben attrezzato
- Fotopoulos (8/5): -
- kevin (9/5): It was what I needed for the weekend - They did not provide breakfast I bought my own all the time I stayed. N/A
- Carole (8/5): Stop sympa et calme dans une jolie petite campagne - Quartier calme et pas trop loin du centre ville, avec parking sur place. La chambre était un peu exiguë.
- Darryl (7/5): - Room and facilities were great. We never saw any person from the property, just received a key code.
- Olga (10/5): - The house is charming, located in a nice and quiet part of town, and the room was lovely and cozy. We really enjoyed our stay at Impala House. Communication with Kerry and Peter was quick, smooth, and very friendly. There’s plenty to explore in the area as well – including several caves along the shoreline.
- Bolanos (1/5): Unprofessional and disappointing - Location Unprofessional and disappointing. Our group was unfairly stereotyped as potentially noisy and offered cancellation at 20.30 when we requested for 21.00 check in which is in the option at booking.com. Towels are damp, worn out and ripping apart at the seams. Overall an unpleasant experience.
- Matthew (10/5): What a find! - The attention to detail from the hosts begins with the information they send through about arrival/checking in and flows through to how well the rooms are presented and how every detail has been considered- from having enough sockets to a providing a fridge for guest use! What a find! N/a
- Amy (4/5): - Easy parking. Just a bed (an uncomfortable one at that). Lacked hospitality. Didn't meet any staff. Grotty.
- Guest (8/5): -
- Samar (8/5): - The rooms is cozy and the beds are comfortable. The property is in a residential area and good for nice walks in the evening. There is no table in the room.
- Guest (9/5): - Quiet and nice location, clean and comfortable room. I appreciated the presence of a shared refrigerator.
- claude (9/5): -
- David (6/5): Correct - Chambre spacieuse ,calme
- Anne (6/5): Pleasant -
- Mathieu (8/5): A very convenient and cheap solution for one night - Easy check-in, convenient Nothing special. Just not a spectacular place
- Olamide (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (10/5): Relaxing and refreshing night spent here - modern and clean - owners should be proud - A bit out of town ( about a mile ) but lovely views to countrytside and sea.
Amazing room - super clean - super modern - super decor and fresh crisp bedding on comfy mattress - bathroom modern and spotless - loads of tea/coffee/milks/sugars etc
- Derek (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lesley (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully converted, everything and more you could need which for us was a stay before catching the ferry to Orkney. Can't speak highly enough 😺 Everything worked including TV which is so often a problem. A real gem. Absolutely nothing
- Mccafferty (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adams (10/5): Exceptional - Room was perfect. Amazing view from the window Nothing
- Abhinav (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Guest house was just what we needed. Bedrooms was clean and the beds was comfortable.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (5/5): Passable - Disappointed after reading other reviews. On the surface it seems okay but look more carefully the whole property looks scruffy and not very well kept. The property no longer supplies breakfast. Our least favourite property on this trip.
- Andromeda (9/5): Superb -
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fifi (10/5): Beautiful family-owned guest house - The hosts, Peter and Kerry, are so nice. The room I was in was a very small room. But it didn't bother me. In fact, it was more cosy. For the price I paid, it was so clean and comfortable, and 10/10 would recommend.
- Marco (8/5): Very good -
- Erin (10/5): A wonderful place to stay and easy to walk to local restaurants and areas of interest. - Great location, fantastic views, clean and friendly hosts.
- Jacky (10/5): Clean comfotable room in a guest house that's geared to the needs of the guests. - Impala isn't a hotel it's a guest house, so I wasn't expecting uniformed staff and a 24 hour reception desk, and wasn't surprised when check-in is set up to happen via an emailed code for the door. But I've never stayed anywhere that's been so set up for the comfort of the guests. There is a huge larder fridge downstairs marked for the use of guests, so convenient. And although there are quite a few nice eateries in Wick, if you want a takeaway then there are plates and cutlery in the dining room so you're not sitting on the edge of your bed eating with your fingers. The wifi was fast and free, the bed was large and extremely comfortable and I slept very well. I was sad to be only stopping one night, I will definitely be back.
- Jack (8/5): Very good -
- Laurence (9/5): Superb - I use it regularly. Everything happens with no fuss.. 😁nothing
- Chris (9/5): Great restful place to stay. - Well kept guest house and met all our needs. Clean, spacious, comfortable room. Loved the dining area. Free easy parking. Quiet and short walk to the ocean.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Jean (6/5): Pleasant - Nice quiet area, short walk into town.
- Garry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dominik (8/5): Very good - The location was good. The toilet was blocked on my arrival.
- Jevan (10/5): Like a lighthouse in a dark storm! - Clean, quiet, welcoming and just what I needed after a mishap the night before on the John O' Grotes trail! It was super comfortable! Nothing, this place was amazing! If you're wanting somewhere to stay on a budget that's affordable, clean and good quality, book here!
- Linsey (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious comfortable bedroom, with a welcoming separate shared dining room. Great parking facilities and very accommodating hosts. Thank you!
- Katarina (9/5): Great single room close to shore - Beautiful room, comfortable bed, lovely owner.
- Jodi (9/5): Comfortable and compact room. Quiet and easy to stay. - Great view. Easy to access I got a bit cold overnight. Hot water takes a bit to warm up.
- William (9/5): Superb -
- Scott (9/5): Practical for what I needed. - Perfect location for travelling to work. Liked the set up on how to get access to building and collect keys. No fuss at all and very happy overall.
- Kathryn (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): I would recommend this accommodation unhesitatingly. - No breakfast provided. Very likeable hosts. Nothing.
- Hay (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (9/5): Faciltilites and cleanliness top notch - The facilities are maintained to a high standard and a high level of cleanliness are achieved both of which were very much appreciated. It is a good 30 min walk from the train/bus station which in bad weather would be a drag as no local public transport is available.
- Ionut (10/5): Exceptional -
- Myra (8/5): It was very clean - It was clean Nothing
- John (10/5): I really enjoyed my stay, lovely room - N/A Everything was perfect
- Adam (10/5): Cosy, quiet and comfortable - It was very clean, quiet and the bed was super comfortable. We stayed there when it was wet and cold, but the room was cosy and warm. Thank you
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Craig (9/5): A comfortable night's stay in a lovely little town - The guest house offers a code access system with the details emailed to the guest on the day of arrival. As I didn't have access to email that day I rang the hosts and asked them to text the info to my phone which they did immediately. I then had to call to tell them I would be slightly later than 9pm and the host greeted me on arrival and we had a pleasant chat.
The guest house is in a decent location with some parking facilities available.
The rooms were all given quirky names which was good fun and mine had everything I needed for a comfortable one night stay. As I only stayed for one night and arrived rather late in the evening and left early in the morning it's difficult to find anything to be critical of! One minor thing I did notice was that there was no light switch in the immediate vicinty of the bed and the side lamps had to be turned off at a switch on the lead so it wasn't possible to switch lights on/off without leaving the bed ... apologies to the hosts if I'd missed an obvious solution to this problem!
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Diogo (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was very clean and heated. Perfect for a night sleep. Off the road parking for a motorcycle was a plus
- Melvyn (8/5): Very good -
- Kylie (9/5): Superb - Very comfy beds, easy check-in, and on-site parking. A little dated.
- Craig (9/5): Superb - Good location in Wick, quiet area but within walking distance of the centre.
Also little coastal walk and secluded sea cove just around the corner.
- Manpreet (8/5): Very good - Location was wonderful, the bed was comfortable
- Jacqueline (8/5): A good place to stay when visiting north east of Scotland - The good communication
The easy parking

- Karolyn (9/5): Very good value-for-money guesthouse - Very well-equipped guesthouse 👍 Friendly hosts.
