Guest Reviews
- Karen (10/5): - One of the nicest places we have stayed in. The host had fresh baked bread and cake for us. The gourmet kitchen was a dream with the best organization for the guests with fresh eggs, butter and milk. The coffee set up was dreamy with ever option available. The room had a fabulously comfortable bed and modern bathroom with these cool round corner shower doors that folded in giving extra space when not using the shower. The location truly could not be beat with a perfect view of Hverfall the cider cone volcano mountain. But without a doubt the greatest part of the stay was the care by the host who not only made sure we were comfortable, had multiple cups of hot coffee but also had an infectious passion for the area and Iceland in general. He shared his knowledge truly enriching our experience! Hope to return!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Overall this is a nice, well-maintained house, but not quite what I expected. I should also mention that the host is a nice and generous person with lots of advice about the local area. The part that I wasn’t expecting (maybe I just didn’t do my research well enough) was the nature of the accommodations. You basically get a room in a house that is shared with three other rooms. The room is nice, new and clean, but for me it lacked privacy. The floors throughout the house are made of concrete and sound really reverberates, regardless of whether you have your door closed. If you are inclined to have an early bedtime, I would advise against this property. In my case, two of the three nights I was there the other guests were up talking and laughing in the living room, and sleep was impossible until quite late. There is certainly nothing unreasonable about people staying up late and socializing, but because of the lack of soundproofing, it’s not good for guests with different sleep habits. It should also be noted that the kitchen and laundry are shared areas. Again, probably due to a lack of proper research on my part, I was expecting a self-contained space with these amenities.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beds were comfy. Room and bath spacious. Living/dining room were pleasant to hang out in and chat with other guests and host. Great chef kitchen if you want to make a meal. Basics are provided so you don’t have to worry about coffee, cereal and milk. Home made bread!!! You could easily stay here a week. Plenty of info on local sites. Thanks Johann for a lovely visit.
- Gill (10/5): - Excellent accommodation. Really relaxing stay in a beautiful house. All facilities for cooking and our host was extremely helpful.
