• Stefan (9/5): Comfortable, spacious rooms. Great onsen with a view. - Onsen was fantastic, as well as room view overlooking the sea. Rooms were spacious with a comfortable mattress. Hotel is a bit dated but has it's charm. Manual door key has a huge dongle on it that should be removed. Little bit of a walk from centre of town but not too far.

• Frank-逸夫 (8/5): Nice traditional compact rooms and onsen! - This property had great simple Japanese style rooms! We found this property to be a great value. The breakfast was amazing and I highly recommend it! The sea view rooms are nice (but you can’t actually see the sun rise in case you were wondering) and have great early morning views of the water. The onsen was also excellent, there appeared to be a main indoor onsen and then maybe a smaller outdoor one? It was full when in there so I didn’t check it out. The property is also an easy walk to the train station. The property looks a bit like a hospital from the outside but the rooms are very warm, traditional, and compact. The location is a bit of a walk from the main train station if you have a lot of, or big, luggage. We only had backpacks so it was an easy 15min walk. There aren’t many eating options in the immediate vicinity but a short 5-10 min walk offers many more options.

• MOTOHIRO (7/5): 普通 - 部屋が広くて畳敷きで、布団もセルフサービスだから他人が部屋に入ってくる事も無い事から安心。トイレも新しい物になっており、清潔綺麗でした。 チェックイン時の案内時は良かったのですが、チェックアウト時はカウンターに誰もおらず、そのまま帰って良いのか不明で迷ってしまう。(チェックイン時に案内があれば良かったと思います）

• Hin Dong (9/5): Good base for Nachi Fall visit if you are traveling from Nagoya by train. - A comfortable seafront hotel with nice sea view to stay for a visit to Nachi Falls. Delicious local set breakfast with different menu for our 2-night stay there. Room size is big and bed is comfy, It has a small onsen with sea view. The following remark has nothing to do with the hotel. It is not the fault of the hotel. The town is very small and many shops were closed when we were there. Felt very deserted. There was only one small restaurant near the hotel open during our stay. Needless to say, you need to be there early and better still, make reservation in advance. Else, your next best choice might be Lawson!

• Cosette (10/5): Perfect place to end the Kumano Kodo - Our room was beautiful with a view of the sea. It had everything we needed and the futon was very comfortable. Watching the sunset over the ocean in the morning was very special. We could see the top of Nachi waterfall in the distance ! The traditional Japanese in the morning was delicious and copious, and it was a real treat to have proper coffee for the first time since starting the Kumano Kodo :-). The onsen was also very nice and clean and a real treat after a big days walk in the pouring rain! The hotel is close to amenities like restaurants and konbini. Would stay here again! Nothing :-)

I could get used to this. Easy walk to restaurants No shower/bath in room - but forced me to try the onsen style of bathing.

• Elsophia (8/5): Worth of money and comfortable - This hotel is unique, not every room has a bathroom. The hotel combination of ryokan style and modern style. Looks old, but actually comfortable. The location also walking distance to everywhere. The staff was super helpful. We sent our luggage to the hotel before we arrive, they let me know when my luggage arrive. Even though their English is not fluently but they tried their best to help. Also this hotel has very clean and comfortable Onsen and public bath. I like the outdoor onsen. Oh the room was spacious for the kind of price. Even though I like onsen but I prefer bathroom in my room. Don’t get me wrong, there is toilet and sink available in my room and also I think there is some rooms in this hotel have bathroom.

• Terry (8/5): Katsuura is a really scenic and interesting destibayon. Well worth a stay, good transport options to Kumano Nashi Taisha - Spacious tatami room with sitting area and sea views. Onsen; bikes available. Washer/dryer (500¥) Needed to pre-book breakfast (1,500¥) and dinner (5,500¥) bento in advance. Even so weren’t good value, with other options close by.

• Gayle (10/5): A small, well-appointed hotel in Nachi - The front desk and dining staff here were great. They answered all of my questions and were very friendly and efficient. The Japanese traditional room was lovely, and the ocean view was fantastic. I enjoyed the onsen very much, and it was very clean and pleasant, with two baths, one small bath that was outside for fresh air. Loved the large yukatas, too! The breakfast was very good: very local, traditional, and fresh, and my table had a nice ocean view. Great dining service! The hotel is just 10 minutes walk from the JR station and downtown Nachikatsuura, and not far from other onsens if you would like to try many onsens in the area. There is a good, small Izakaya restaurant just a few minutes down the street if you prefer a different dinner. I had heard that there might be a Hinoki wooden bath, but I was not told about it (I don't speak Japanese), so it might be nice to let guests know about all of the options for onsens, since foreign visitors might not know.
• Francis (10/5): - Hotel was an 8 minute walk from the train station, easy as. Hotel was clean and staff friendly and welcoming. Room was gorgeous, traditional Japanese room with the most amazing view over the water, sunrise and sunset was beautiful. Room was very comfortable as was the futon for sleeping. Bathroom in the room (no shower) and the room had everything you needed. Bathing: hotel has a male and female (separate) sento/onsen (communal bathing). Common at the more traditional hotels. You have your modesty towel 😅 to use if you wish. Mattered were two male baths- indoor and outdoor. Indoor was beautifully hot and large in size and being indoor, the steam is a great feeling. Outdoor one is smaller (4 people), and is nice and warm and allows a good balance of being able to moderate your body temperature. Both look at our the water. Don’t be shy to go and use these facilities, great place to talk with people whilst relaxing or keep to yourself. Town is an old port town and is very quiet, not many cars around or people. By 6pm you might see a handful of people walking around. Dining options are limited outside the hotel but they are there, if you walk around the street you will find enough dining options. It’s a beautiful town and easy trip to Nachi taisha. Info office at the station if you need, they speak English and happy to help you. Great time and highly recommend this hotel.

• Tricia (8/5): Great view, bath and breakfast - We loved sitting in the dining alcove looking out to the mountains and bay with the sea eagles soaring close by. The room was large with private toilet and washbasin and the public bath had the same great views (at least for the men, unfortunately the women’s bath has frosted glass – I assume for privacy). Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Nothing. For some people a 10-15min walk to town may be a problem but for us it was perfect.

• Rainer (8/5): - Das Hotel ist gut für den Besuch der Tempel in den Bergen (Bus und Bahn ca. 1 km entfernt). Die Umgebung sowie das Hotel haben schon bessere Zeiten gesehen. Das Bett auf dem Boden ist nicht für Europäer gedacht - d. h. zu kurz und nicht ergonomisch. Das Frühstück ist lokal und demzufolge mindestens ein Photo und eine Gebrauchsanweisung wert. Bei zwei Tagen Aufenthalt es gab 2 verschiedene Variationen. Im Prinzip läuft alles recht reibungslos und wie üblich außerordentlich freundlich - Japan pur.

• Benjamin (6/5): - Property was clean and room was comfortable, other than there was no shower/bath in the room, which maybe we should have known, but were surprised by. There is a public bath/onsen on site with a lovely view over the ocean, but is not for everyone. Also no real food options nearby and the onsite restaurant seems to have limited availability.
• MINAMI (8/5): - 昔ながらという風情のホテルです。 素泊まりということで近場の飲食店を歩いて探しましたが、残念ながらこれという店をみつけられませんでした。 勝浦はいままで、昼間に訪れており、店はたくさんあるからとかんがえていたのですけどね。
