- James (9/5): Beautiful country inn experience - Beautiful inn in a picturesque valley. Very attentive and helpful staff. Many spoke English. The meals were very good and substantial in size. The baths include an indoor pool and outdoor rotenburo. The rooms are a modern take on traditional Japanese inns. They offer a nighttime star viewing putting depending on the weather. A shuttle bus is available to and from the train station which is very convenient. Not much that I can think of.
- haim (9/5): -
- Nisim Barda (7/5): - Now that is in a quiet area in the woods. Near to kisso village.
Nice private and public onsen.
Stuff is looking for any assist they can give.
Dinner was japanese local dishes from local ingredients, as well as breakfast Room was old and futons were not comfort
Same for the shower.

- NIKOLAOS (10/5): Perfect choice for relaxation and traditional Japanese hospitality!!! - Nice and clean ryokan style rooms with all amenities included. Good location in the forest. Kind and helpful personnel. Nice traditional breakfast and dinner. Private Onsen included in the price and it was perfect experience. There is free transportation from ant to train station.
- tancredi (10/5): - Dinner was amazing! The place is fascinating!
- Sophie (10/5): A Must Visit! The Best Hotel in the Japanese Mountains - We had the most fantastic stay here last night. It's in the most idyllic location. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and offers both a public and private onsen experience, as well as free transfers to and from the train station, and star gazing at night. The food was INCREDIBLE - both at dinner and breakfast! - and the staff so kind and accommodating. I truly can't recommend this hotel enough! A highlight and the best night of our trip to Japan.
- Craig (10/5): - Amazing staff, welcoming and helpful. Can't speak highly enough of the food and service, comfortable rooms and beds, shuttle service. Amazing!! Absolutely nothing.
- Alexander (10/5): Our best stay in Japan! - Our best stay and some of our best bites in Japan. Could not fault this place, from the incredibly warm welcome to the excellent food and comfortable rooms. Would recommend 10/10.
- Robert (10/5): Amazing good value traditional Ryokan in the Japanese Alps. - Good value traditional Ryokan in the beautiful Japanese Alps. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Food was exceptional. Rooms were large and clean. And Onsens, both private and public, were perfect. Also the added bonus of going star gazing with a true expert. Nothing apart from the location. It is up in the hills so a car is would be useful if you want to explore the area.
- Genaro (10/5): - They have a private onset. You can book it when you arrive. The dinner was amazing. The service and attention were also superb. There was only 1 towel in the room
Udover public onsen, tilbød stedet ligedes privat onsen (inklusiv i prisen). Alt i alt super godt!!!
Udover public onsen, tilbød stedet ligedes privat onsen (inklusiv i prisen). Alt i alt super godt!!! Alt
- Justine (10/5): Lovely gateway from busy cities - The location was exceptional. It was amazing to experience a typical Japanese hotel, with a large and confortable room. We loved the star gazing experience and the onsen. The food was extraordinary. The staff has been more than helpful and very communicative.
This holiday has been a needed calming break from busy cities. I would definitely recommend the experience! One must be ready for a vintage experience with slightly worn out furniture, but it adds to the charm of the place.
- Esme (10/5): Amazing hotel in a peaceful setting - A beautiful hotel in the peaceful hills above Kiso. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helped us with whatever we needed. Amazing food, fantastic onsen (particularly the outside public onsen) and the stargazing trip was a wonderful addition. We enjoyed our stay here so much and would definitely come again! Thank you!
- Helene (10/5): Wonderful experience - Wonderful family style ryokan nestled in the mountain forest with lovely staff, delicious food and a peaceful outdoor onsen underneath beautiful trees. You felt personally very well taken care of as this is a relatively small ryokan so the staff know you and you have the hot spring bath to yourself mostly. The staff also organized a lovely stargazing activity with binoculars and telescopes.
- M.I. (10/5): -
- nathalie (10/5): Very special place to go with family incredible food and beautiful quiet mountain walks - The food was exceptional five star quality we were blown away Our room was a little bit tired looking
- Isabella (5/5): -
- Pedro (10/5): It was amazing, made possible by great staff! - Food was fantastic, rooms were spacious and bath was incredible. The star viewing experience was also great!!
- Rebekah (9/5): Great service. Delicious dinner and breakfast! - Nice to have a private onsen bath. Fantastic dinner and breakfast with great service.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional stay with authentic dining and relaxing onsen - We immensely enjoyed our stay at Nukumorino-yado Komanoyu. From check-in to check-out the staff were lovely, always available to help, and very personal. We had both breakfast and dinner during our stays and they were some of our favorite meals in Japan by far...all unique, thoughtful, authentic. The private and public onsens at this inn are the best we experienced and are very well maintained. We went on the starry night tour which was another highlight of our trip and this inn. I can't say this enought but Nukumorino-yado Komanoyu is one of our favorite accommodations we stayed at during our time in Japan. Note that we did have a car so it wasn't an issue to arrive nor explore the surrounding areas, but know that it is a bit away from the towns. However the inn does offer transportation services (for pick-up or drop-off) which can help guests without a car explore the area and arrive without stress.
A note on the establishment itself - yes it's a bit shabby (I saw others comment on this and was a bit worried) but honestly, it's true to itself and humble. We grew to love it a lot and compared to other inns we stayed at, we preferred this authentic hospitality and team to other more touristy and showy inns. We will surely recommend this inn to others and come here again in the future! Thank you so much Nukumorino-yado Komanoyu.
- Martin.H.Orlando (10/5): - The food was absolutely from another planet.
We cunted in one of the meals, 18 small dishes per person!
Also there are activites run by the hotel lie sky gazing it was beautiful.
Also the Onsen, really a unique experience.
- Andrew (7/5): Beautiful property with a wonderful onsen but older rooms need a touch up! - Beautiful location and wonderful onsen, both private and public. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. We stayed in the older building and the rooms are badly in need of a renovation.
- Michael (7/5): -
- Sirpa (8/5): - The private onsen experience was wonderful as was the dinner, but the accomodation price was a bit too expensive for what it covered. Price did not match the room, too expensive.
- Henner (10/5): Nahezu perfektes Ryokan-Erlebnis - Hilfsbereites Personal, kostenloses Shuttle vom Bahnhof, Stargazing Tour, hervorragendes japanisches Abendessen bzw.
- feng chi (8/5): -
- Merve Gamze (10/5): - The area is amazing in the middle of mountain. The facility has everything. They took me from the Kiso Station and it is very easy to go to Kiso by Limited Express trains from Nagoya. The dinner was amazing, the onsen too! They are very nice, you can also get free private onsen. It was a very relaxing stay Nothing
- Adrian (9/5): - Exceptional traditional Japanese dinners
Very nice staff
Shuttle service made getting there and back into town easy
- Corinna (7/5): -
- Preeti (10/5): Amazing!!! - In the evening we were taken to the top of the mountain by bus to look at the stars. The guide was very knowledgable and we got to see the rings of Saturn using the telescope he set up. The onsen is super relaxing and the meals are amazing.
- KRISTINA (9/5): -
- Marcel (10/5): Una estada fantàstica, un sopar excepcional - Les instalacions Res
- Julie (5/5): -
- Stanley (8/5): The staff, the food and the facilities were amazing!!! - The onsen and the stargazing tour organised by the hotel. Generally the cleanliness of the room was acceptable except that the building was kinda old.
- Matthias (9/5): -
- Corentin (10/5): Great, would definitely stay again - The atmosphere was great, the staff was really friendly and caring, we got upgraded to a suite that was stunning. The men onsen was just what we needed after a half marathon hike Some of the walls in the general areas could use some refurbishing
- raquel (7/5): -
- Luca Marciano (7/5): - Staff was nice and accomodating
The public onsen - especially the male one, the one closest to the onsen entrance - was very nice-looking
The possibility of a small excursion to a nearby valley during day- and nighttime is a plus The rooms in the annex are much older and run-down compared to the first area, where the reception is located
We had too many bugs in our room - around 10 in only one night, mostly coming from the AC. While bugs are to be expected in such a natural location, we never experienced in any other ryokan a situation like this. It was honestly frustrating
The food was good, but the dishes very served one after the other and not in a tradition kaiseki manner. This meant that the waiting time between dishes could vary vastly. Also very little explanation was offered when serving the dishes - and lots of times we were left wondering what we were about to eat. It is important to improve the explanation part as it enhances the dining experience.
- Ruth (10/5): Restful stay, very kind and helpful staff, large traditional dinner and breakfast. - Beautiful building, large, traditional rooms. The chance for a private onsen as well as a communal one. Nothing
- David (10/5): Amazing stay in a very traditional Japanese resort. - Beautiful, very authentic resort nestled in the mountains. Reception and staff assistance was outstanding! Our whole experience epitomized everything that I had ever read or been told about Japanese culture. The multi course meals we were served were truly a culinary wonder. Absolutely nothing…for us, it was perfect.

- lisa (9/5): A beautiful restful hotel with elegant large rooms and amazing staff. - A beautiful room, newly renovated , in classic Japanese style , Waugh a creek outside the window and beautiful trees. European beds. Beautiful yukatas. Breakfast and dinner were amazing and the staff were lovely. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Nothing!
- Marius (10/5): Ein unvergesslicher Aufenthalt!

- Norbert (7/5): - Location in the woods
Rotenburo
Onzen
Friendly front office staff Ineffective communication with back office
Never responded to emails
Nobody responded to calls- only answer machine in Japanese
Quite run down ( old and new tract)
Bland dinner
Overpriced
- Mahena (10/5): -
- Sarah (9/5): Highly recommend this incredible stay! - This is such a wonderful place. The location was beautiful and serene, the staff were incredibly nice and helpful, the food was delicious and celebratory, and overall, this was a very relaxing place. This is an older establishment so there are some places that show its age such as the worn carpet in the hallway. I found the history of the building to feel cozy and lived-in, but noting it here so folks know what to expect.
- YUMI (8/5): -
- Ilmari (10/5): Such a beautiful and authentic stay near Kiso! The place felt peaceful and genuine, and the hosts we - Exceptionally kind hosts, peaceful location, and wonderful food. -
- Ian (10/5): Perfect - Beautiful location. Super onsen. Amazingly refurbished beautiful massive room. Excellent food. Lovely staff. Good value. Highly recommend esp if you have a car. Nothing
- Tessa (9/5): - Ontzettend goede service, mooie authentieke ervaring, Japans diner en ontbijt. Stargazing in de avond. De privé onsen♡
- Burwell (10/5): Unbelievable! - They took us stargazing and we had such a magical time! The onsens were such a little oasis and the meals were unbelievable Absolutely nothing
- Laurie (9/5): Very authentic Japanese experience with staff that are friendly and helpful. The meals were exquisite. - The property was authentic and away from town; we didn’t get a chance to look around outside as the time of year it was dark early. You need a car or their shuttle to get to and from town.
- Mary (9/5): Fabulous experience. We loved the private onsen and dining experience after a long days hike. - The meals were fantastic not only on taste but also presentation! It was the highlight of our trip. Yu San who greeted us upon arrival was so welcoming and fantastic. I had tried many times leading up to the trip to communicate but had to ask the staff of Hostel Yui An to call for me as I had wanted to arrange the time of pick up from the station.
- RHYS (9/5): Fantastic - A beautiful Ryokan in a peaceful place above Kiso Fukushima. Lovely private Onsen. Amazing dinner and breakfast and fabulous staff. We were upgraded due to a problem with our booked accommodation. Big bugs coming in from somewhere
- Alexander (8/5): - Great ryokan experience. Serene and great rooms and atmosphere
- PEDRO (10/5): -
- Jennie (9/5): Lovely onsen that needs a refresh. - The food and onsen were exceptional. The staff were very helpful and efficient. The gardens and location was really beautiful too. It was lovely to be able to get out of hiking clothes and into a yukata for dinner and the post onsen relax. Everything was looking tired. The carpets need replacing and the walls need a new coat of paint.
- Guy (10/5): -
- CUCKoO (10/5): - A really lovely ryokan with kind and helpful staff. Although the common areas are a little tired, the room was really lovely, clean and comfortable. The kaiseki dinner & traditional breakfast were wonderful- everything was delicious! Thanks for a memorable stay
- Pauline (10/5): - Everything about the people, the place, and the food. Nothing at all
- Adriaan (8/5): -
- Adam (10/5): Would very much like to return. - A lovely setting, polite staff, delicious meals and wonderful onsen (we went for a dip in the private onsen).
- Noam (7/5): This could be a nice place - Nice location . Nice dinner and breakfast. Our room was run down, and in immediate need of reconstruction and paint. The staff don’t know a word in English
- Ann (10/5): A haven of calm. A very special experience. - Lovely room. Modern comforts in a Japanese style. Nothing.
- Karl (9/5): - The Onsens, the staff, the peacefulness, all the extras like the shuttle to the station, the kiminos. The free star gazing tour as well
- Frances (9/5): A wonderful stay in a little oasis of calm and tranquility - We loved the traditional Japanese approach and the wonderful staff Maybe there could be an option for a lighter breakfast.
- Romi (9/5): -
- Sven (10/5): -
- Nina (9/5): -
- celeste (10/5): Serene escape - While the outside looks a little plain, don’t be deceived - the interior is beautiful and very serene. the room was beautiful and quiet. The staff were welcoming, helpful and lovely. We didn’t try the public onsen, only the private onsen which was great. there was nothing not to like.
- Gert (9/5): - Het diner was voortreffelijk!
