- Jennifer (6/5): Pleasant - The hotel was near the train station, big room with a fridge and air con. Booked a family room of a double and a single bed but just got. 2 single beds. The bathroom had hair in and looked like someone had just had a shower in it. The staff were very grumpy and not very helpful.

- Gary (6/5): It's a 1985 retro hotel, no, not a themed one...! - The location of this hotel is ideal if wanting to travel to or from Chumphon train station (you can also book bus and boat tickets near the station), however, the hotel doesn't have much else going for it. It is a large, old fashioned, grubby hotel that looks like it hasn't been looked after since the 80's. The halls reminded us of the prison cells you see in the movies! The receptionist wasn't aware of our online booking and offered the room to us a lot cheaper before we told her we had already, annoyingly, paid upfront.
There was damp evident on the walls in our room and the bathroom door was rotting away. Our cleaning lady was lovely, although not actually sure what she cleans?
The bed, surprisingly, was very comfortable and bottled water is provided daily.
There are a few other hotels in the area, not sure if any better, but certainly worth investigating beforehand!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok pour une nuit - Hôtel pas cher à 10 minutes à pieds de la gare de train. Accueil indifférent, mais ok pour passer la nuit.
- taistelukala (4/5): A mediocre stay, bordering awful - Me and my girlfriend were caught up in the Southern Thailand floods that occurred in the beginning of January 2017. We had the intention to travel to Ko Tao that day, but missed the boats because a huge traffic jam on the highway to Chumphon.
So, we bravely chose the first hotel in the city of Chumphon we say. That was a mistake. I tell you, there are much better rated hotels just next to this one. The rooms on the second floor are situated on a desolate, echoing, fish smelling (someone was preparing food somewhere), prison-y corridor. The room was no more impressive. Queen size bed, small table, an old tv and a dubious fridge. Our window faced to the backyard and had gratings. We would have walked out of the hotel that instant, but we were tired and made notice that the bed had nice clean white linen - a stark contrast to the rest of the experience. Also AC and wifi were working and that was good.
The bathroom was really horrible. There was no ventilation, at all. In the whole room there was a pervasive stench of mold, and it had to come out of the bathroom. I did not want to go to the bathroom without slippers. That kind of smell is unacceptable, but our stay in Sri Chumphon was short and the room was very cheap.
The location of the hotel is good. Some of Chumphon's nicest restaurants are closeby. The staff we saw in the reception were a little distant, but otherwise ok. They seemed like good folks, although their establishment is nowhere near enjoyable.
From this day on, I will always find a wifi to have a small look-see of the hotels in vicinity. Would have saved us from this experience.
- HelenBerry1204 (8/5): Good value! - The hotel is clean and has a great location, it's walking distance (with heavy bags) from the train station.
We arrived at the hotel at 12:30am without a booking. The receptionist was friendly. The room was big, with an ensuite bathroom, a desk, a table and chairs, a window (that didn't overlook a brick wall!!) and two bottles of drinking water, all for £6.60.
There's free coffee and drinking water downstairs, and the wifi was surprisingly fast.
We would definitely stay here again!
- Brio2 (8/5): Huge Rooms - I had a stopover on a road trip at this Hotel. Close to Shopping Center, Train Station. Staff were a little shy, but helpful. Room was basic and a bit bland, but it is very cheap. Ample off street parking, 24 hour reception. Nearby was a street market, but don't know what nights they are on.
- Crut (6/5): perfect for one night, car park available - Old school Thai motel, clean room with car park, downtown.
with an outdoor thai style gym :)
walking distance to the trainstation, night market and Fame Tour (#1 travel agency and restaurant in chumphon for tourists)
- glenisf2018 (6/5): Certainly ok for a one night stopover - We arrived at the railway station in pouring rain, not having booked anywhere & not knowing where to go next. We were told to go just around the corner & all hotels were there. We came across Sri Chumphon hotel about 5-600 mtrs from the station first so I went to check price & room. This was going to cost $16 USD & the massive room had aircon, a TV, Bed looked ok, although the bathroom looked a bit grotty due to age. We were too tired & too wet to carry on so this was it for the night. The staff were friendly, there was tea & coffee downstairs for only 50 cents, restaurants over the road & a full market & shopping plaza just around the corner. We were comfy enough here as our train was leaving at 7am in the morning. No, this is nothing to write home about but Yes, certainly convenient, & certyainly ok for a one night stay. And Yes, as one review states, the corridors are like something from a prison or hospital, complete with bars on windows. If you want 3-4-or 5 star, don't even bother to stop here.
- Yoztafari (4/5): Ok for one night... - We stayed there for one night in a socalled "familyroom". The room was very big, but very dirty. No AC, but a noisy fan in the ceiling. In The night there was alot of noise from something with a very large subwoofer... Ok service, but we didn't bother them too much... So it is place to stay for a couple of hours, not more!
- Delirusvitae (2/5): Not even for a stop over!! - the hotel itself looks like a jail or a psichiatric ward.. long and wide corridors, like out of a horror movie, let's not talk about the toillet, horrible dirty, i think it has been never cleaned, mold between the tiles, nasty, i couldn't take a shower. there was also a very strong smell of sigarettes in the room. Broken windows and the aircon was falling in peaces. We spend there one night, as a stop over on the way to Ko Tao, although it was for only a couple of hours, was a very unpleasant experience. Ok it was very cheap, but that doesn't mean that it needs to be dirty, the conditions of this hotel are beyond imagination. Never again and of course, not recommended.
- naybabs85 (6/5): One Night Only!! - We booked a "Deluxe" room, it was certainly not deluxe. The room itself was OK - clean and very big with A/C, wifi and a TV. The bathroom was disgusting. The grout on the tiles was black and looked like it hasn't been cleaned since the hotel was built. Having a shower was a depressing task! Chumphon itself is only worthy of a stopover enroute to Ko Tao. There is not a lot there. Therefore the hotel was OK for just the 1 night!!
The staff were helpful. We accidentally missed our early bus to the ferry port and they let us check back into our room until the midday bus with no extra charge.
- EmmaM2006 (6/5): This hotel was decidedly “average” - Our double room was a good size, with a huge window and en-suite toilet & hot shower. The only problem with the window was that it let too much sun in – the room turned into a sauna during the day and took a long time to cool down with a fan when we returned in the evening.
The staff were ok but generally not very friendly (I struggled to get a smile out of any of them). There was no wifi despite the fact that there is a sign on the door saying that there is wifi – I understand it is broken. And the hotel was utterly characterless.
However, at 280B per night I believe that this hotel was not bad value for money.
