• Agathe (1/5): LUNAIRE. - Nous sommes arrivées pour le check-in, il y avait personne à la réception ni même un numéro de téléphone. Je les préviens via Booking de notre présence. L’hôtel me répond à 14h20 qu’ils arrivent dans quelques minutes puis me renvoie un message pour me dire qu’ils arrivent à 15h20, soit plus d’une heure après l’heure de check-in. J’exprime mon mécontentement et leur réponse c’est « please wait ». C’est sympa quand on a fait plus de 2h de route sous la chaleur avec des sacs à dos. Inadmissible pour un hotel de ne pas avoir un réceptionniste d’autant que c’est la basse saison. Nous étions les seules clientes de l’hôtel. Pas un mot d’excuse, pas un mot gentil, à aucun moment ils se sont intéressés à nous. Les draps étaient déchirés et tachés Le petit-déjeuner était inexistant: un café et un petit sandwich. Et pour celui qui boit pas de café on ne lui a pas proposé autre chose. À 40€ la nuit c’est SCANDALEUX ne pas avoir plus que ça, comme des tartines, des fruits…. À fuir.

• Graham (8/5): Overall: A lovely hotel with beautiful, well-finished rooms and genuinely helpful service, highlighted by thoughtful tou - ended up booking MJ Boutique Hotel as a last-minute decision after extending my holiday by five days, and overall it was a bit of a mixed experience. The good points: On arrival, I was warmly welcomed by a lady I assumed to be the owner. I was immediately offered a refreshing ice-cold orange juice during check-in, which was a really nice touch after travelling. I decided to pay a little extra for a sea view room, and I’m very glad I did. Once checked in, she kindly helped carry one of my bags and personally showed me to my room. The room itself was excellent—clearly recently renovated, very clean, and finished to a high standard. The balcony overlooking the sea was a real highlight and made the stay feel extra special. Shortly after arriving, I needed to head out to arrange some diving. She was very helpful and quickly organised a taxi for me, including a stop at a cash machine on the way, which made things much easier. Another standout moment was at check-out. Official check-out time is 12:00, and I came down around 12:15 with my bags as my taxi wasn’t until 5pm. When I asked if I could leave my luggage at reception, she very kindly offered to let me keep the room until 4pm at no extra charge. That was a really thoughtful gesture and very much appreciated. Breakfast was also good, with a freshly cooked option each morning. However, it’s served between 8:00–10:00, which could be a downside if you have early trips planned. I had two dive days with a 7:30 pickup and missed breakfast both times. At most other hotels I stayed at in Thailand, breakfast typically started earlier (around 6:30–7:00), so a slightly earlier option here would make a big difference. The not-so-good points: The hotel offers motorbike hire, which made sense given the town is around 4 miles away. I rented a small 125cc bike to explore, but as someone who has been riding for over 30 years, I immediately noticed something wasn’t right with the handling—it felt unsafe. From experience, I suspected tyre pressure, and after mentioning it to the owner, I was told to try a petrol station as they didn’t have a pump or gauge on-site. After visiting four stations, I finally found one with air and, after waiting around 30 minutes, checked the tyres. What I found was quite alarming—the front tyre was at just 8 PSI (should be around 29), and the rear was 17 PSI (should be around 33). These levels are dangerously low and could easily have caused an accident. Once corrected, the bike handled properly, but this is something that really shouldn’t have been overlooked—especially for guests who may not have riding experience. I would strongly recommend that more care is taken with bike maintenance, as this could lead to serious consequences if not addressed. The limited choice of helmets (only three available) was also disappointing. Another downside was the WiFi. While the room had a great smart TV, the internet connection was very unreliable, constantly dropping in and out. Gorgeous modern room, comfortable king bed (!), delicious bountiful breakfast and its steps from a lovely beach, with an outside rinsing shower by the tropical entryway. Nothing - I’m just scared to share my praise with too many people as I don’t want them to be overrun 😉

Das Zimmer ist groß genug für zwei Personen. Alles funktioniert und es ist sauber, das Bett bequem. Gutes Frühstück. Sehr freundliches Personal. Ruhige Lage. Einige Schritte zum Sandstrand, wenig Touristen. Im Erdgeschoss gibt’s gegenüber der Toiletten ein Dusche zum Sand abspülen. Frühstück ausreichend und gut, Auswahl etwas beschränkt

• Jane (9/5): Nice beach stay; convenient and clean - Great location (right at the beach), quiet area, friendly staff and nice touches like beach towels, beach mats and flip flops in the room to use. Very clean, good breakfast, bar/restaurant next door and a short walk to other choices and 7-11. A good cafe opposite as well. I only stayed 1 night but a nice place to finish my Thailand trip with easy access to Phuket airport. Tea bags in the room with the coffee would be nice but no real dislikes at all

• Jacqueline (10/5): Einfach wie im Paradis. - Unsere Zeit im MJ Boutique Hotel war einfach rundum perfekt – deshalb vergeben wir aus voller Überzeugung 10 von 10 Punkten. Das Zimmer war hervorragend – stilvoll, sauber und mit einem traumhaften Blick auf das Meer. Jeden Abend durften wir vom Zimmer aus den Sonnenuntergang genießen. Allein dieser Moment war unbezahlbar. Das Frühstück war sehr abwechslungsreich und wurde frisch zubereitet. Es war immer ausreichend vorhanden, liebevoll angerichtet und einfach lecker. Man merkt, dass hier Wert auf Qualität gelegt wird. Besonders praktisch: Direkt am Hotel gibt es einen Wäscheservice sowie einen Mopedverleih – unkompliziert und zuverlässig. Und das Meer? Nur etwa 50 Meter entfernt. Näher geht es kaum. Was jedoch am meisten in Erinnerung bleibt, ist die außergewöhnliche Freundlichkeit. Das gesamte Team begegnet einem herzlich, aufmerksam und authentisch. Wir haben uns nicht wie Gäste gefühlt, sondern wie zu Hause. Vielen Dank für diese wundervolle Zeit – Wir haben direkt wieder für das nächste Jahr gebucht – und freuen uns jetzt schon auf das Wiedersehen 🌴 Einen klitzekleinen Punkt gibt es: Es gibt keinen richtigen Kleiderschrank, sodass wir nicht alle mitgebrachten Sachen verstauen konnten. Das war für uns aber kein großes Problem – wir haben es mit Humor genommen und einfach aus dem Koffer gelebt 😊

• Sara (7/5): Muy cercano a la playa - La ubicación era muy buena. Estaba literalmente a unos pasos de la playa. Además a pocos minutos a pie había una zona de restaurantes, y pequeños comercios. La habitación estaba bien equipada: nevera, hervidor de agua, café, caja fuerte y tenía una pequeña terraza. Además, la chica que lo regente era amable y siempre dispuesta a ayudar. Nuestra habitación era oscura y antigua :( Lamentablemente no era lo que esperábamos. Creemos que hay habitaciones reformadas y otras que no lo están. En nuestro caso, y a pesar de que la ubicación es estupenda, no nos parecio que la calidad-precio sea la adecuada.

Eine sehr gute Lage, der Strand war direkt vor der Haustüre. Das MJ Boutique Hotel ist eher klein und familiär. Das Personal sowie die Chefin Joy waren sehr herzlich.

Wybraliśmy pokój z widokiem na morze, był czysty, zadbany, w dobrym standardzie.Codziennie sprzątany czego się nie spodziewaliśmy, codziennie donoszona woda do pokoju. W wyposażeniu kosmetyki, ręczniki + ręczniki plażowe oraz maty bambusowe wraz z torbą, suszarka, parasole, szlafrok. Obsługa niezwykle uprzejma. Niestety nie mogę ocenić śniadań bo z nic nie skorzystaliśmy ze względu na zaplanowane wycieczki. Ale wszystko z czego korzystaliśmy nam się podobało. Jeśli oceniać lokalizację pod kątem dostępu do morza, to jest bardzo dobra. Dosłownie minutę zajmuje znalezienie się nad morzem. Kilka barów i restauracji w okolicy, kantory, masaże, 7 eleven. Wszystko mi się podobało. Jedne to mogę wspomnieć to odległość od miasta. Nie jest to absolutnie wina hotelu, ale trzeba wziąć pod uwagę to, że nie znajduje się w centrum. Trzeba mieć auto/skuter lub wynająć taxi których nie ma wiele w okolicy.

• Larissa Anna (8/5): Super Lage - Die Lage und der Strand sind super 👍🏼 Bei unserem Aufenthalt hat leider an einem Tag das Wasser nicht funktioniert, wir konnten daher nicht duschen, das Wasser kam erst gegen 22 Uhr wieder, da war es zu spät zum Duschen.
• Pascal (8/5): Que du bonheur - C’est mon quatrième séjour dans cet hôtel et je ne m’en lasse pas, l’emplacement est parfait tout à côté de belles plages, personnel charmant, chambre propre et bien équipé avec balcon vue mer, petit hôtel à dimension humaine (seulement 10 chambres) j’en part toujours avec un petit pincement au cœur. Juste que le prix des chambres à tendance à augmenter régulièrement d’année en année vue la notoriété croissante de cet établissement et pour réserver une chambre s’y prendre bien à l’avance tant cet hôtel est demandé

We went to the Similian islands from there for snorkeling/diving. - It was a great location; quiet; comfortable room; comfortable eating area; felt secure. The staff were great especially the main staff person- who seems to manage everything and is available alot. She was very kind, helpful, spoke English. Nothing could have made it better- it is a gem.
• Ekaterina (10/5): Рекомендую! Вряд ли в Као-Лаке можно найти что-то лучше за такую стоимость - Хороший скромный завтрак - 4 варианта на выбор. Уборка каждый день. Вид на море. Очень приветливый персонал. До пляжа 2 минуты. Отель находится в маленьком поселочке, но нам в итоге это понравилось даже больше, чем центральная часть Као-Лака (был опыт проживания там). В ресторан ходили Mr. Ju - из всего, что перепробовали в окрестностях, он показался нам самым достойным. Были с ребенком - пару раз ходили в кофейню напротив, где очень крутой детский уголок. Желательно иметь машину для путешествия по окрестностям. Небольшим недостатком является то, что до основной улицы поселка, где большая часть инфраструктуры (магазин, фрукты, прачечная, массаж) можно дойти или по пляжу, или вдоль трассы. Промежуточных дорог нет. Но это не проблема, выбрали ходить по пляжу через отель Emerald.

Our room was spacious, clean, lovely big bed which was super clean and comfortable. The bathroom again so clean, soft towels, shower adequate for a short stay. The view,,,wow peeking through the Wonderful tree's the sea lapping in the short distance,. Breakfast was a gorgeous bonus,,left after 2 days feeling relaxed. My poor husband got prawn belly,,,yuky,,the lovely manager rushed off to the chemist for us before left,,thank you so much for your caring hospitality Air con could have been better,,,

On-site staff was great We were supposed to have 2 rooms, each with a balcony water view but only received one room with a balcony view (although the property did discount the inferior room after our prompting). Also, contacted the property manager several times to pay and told them when we needed to check out (to catch our flight) and they were not very responsive.

Coffee and water refilled daily, beach towels a - Perfectly clean, great location next to the beach, staff amazing. I took I'll on the last day and they let me stay in the room to the last minute to help me through my illness. They went over and above with their kindness, even coming to wave us farewell. This place is an absolute gem! And we will certainly return if we go back to Khao Lak. Nothing it was perfect

Breakfast was good there are plenty of local restaurants within 5 min walk plus 7 eleven.Massages available on the beach or in the small quiet strip of restaurants and shops.Overall an excellent choice and holiday … Nothing at all

We talked about cloth, and traveling while having breakfast, which was included even if it did not say so on the booking. We got some amazing tips for tours and the trips we took after their recommendations where just as cool. The location is great, close to the beach and a very yummy restaurant. The rooms are cozy but modern and I can’t wait to someday be back. Thanks for a great vacation 🥰 Nothing!
• Paula (8/5): Very good - Joji was very welcoming. The rest of the staff who cooked breakfast were also very nice. The rooms have all facilities, including free toiletries and kettle. Big comfy bed. The accommodation is a few steps from the beach, which is lovely, peaceful, and as yet unspoiled. The bars and restaurants are all close and within walking distance. The best beach bar is Nana's. Food fabulous and staff on the ball and attentive. Tip Top restaurant at the top of the hill is the best in the evening. 1. The pillows were hard, and there was no choice of hard or soft. 2. The non- sea view rooms are very dark even with the lights on. I had to use the torch on my phone to find things in my case. There is no privacy in the ground floor rooms, so curtains need to be closed, adding to the darkness. 3. You have to get out of bed to turn the overhead reading light off. 4. The doors to the room are flimsy and could be a security risk on the ground floor, however, I don't think Khao Lak is that sort of place. 5. Breakfast is just OK and lacking some variety. 6. It would be nice to have some music during breakfast, but that is only my preference. 7. Put some blinds or net curtains in the rooms on the ground floor. The above are minor issues that could be rectified very easily and cheaply. Please don't let my issues stop you from going, though. The accommodation is still excellent value for money.

Easy access to Khao Lak village with scooter, rental and trips available in the travel agency next door. Nice sea view from 2nd floor rooms. Recommend. There could be some more variation in the breakfast during the week.

• Andy (8/5): Had a great time and would recommend. - The room was clean and had a seaview from balcony. The staff were so lovely and went out of their way to help. It was great to be able to have a swim in the sea before the MJ cooked breakfast. The area, which is outside Khao Lat strip and not the strip itself, is great. Enough restaurants and bars without the loudness of the main resort. Plus the beach has very few people even during the sunniest days. No real issues. The TV was stuck on one channel but it was fine as we were never in for long. Also, the area is surrounded by jungle and sea marsh which makes it very mosquito ridden in the evenings.

• Taylor (10/5): Great staff, Big room and 30 seconds from the beach - All the staff were very helpful and welcoming. Especially JoJi who went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed. The rooms are well sized and clean and comfortable with large beds. The breakfast was simple and delicious and came with fresh fruit. They also have little extras like cute beach bags and mats to take to the beach which is a 30 second walk away. If you want to go further they can get a cheap taxi to come and pick you up in seconds. Would highly recommend this hotel, it is incredible value for money

The cleanliness and decor of the room provided a perfect. What truly made my visit memorable was the warmth of the hotel staff. They were attentive and genuinely caring. -

• Robert (9/5): I was satisfied overall, but the nightly rate is high compared to hotels with pools. - The location is exceptionally close to perfection, particularly when securing accommodation on the first floor, us you can hear the waves and see the shimmering sea, rendering it an ideal spot for those seeking a coastal experience. The coffee and breakfast menu could provide more variety, particularly for guests staying longer than 5 days, as currently, there are only about 5 options available, and 3 of them include eggs.

• Michaela (10/5): Best beachhotel in Thailand for fewer people with more locals - Our stay at Boutique Hotel Khao Lak was by far exceeding our expectations. I stayed for a whole week with my mom. We wanted a quite place with not a lot of tourists, which was exactly what we got. Raila and all the staff was of great help from the beginning of the booking until we left to continue our journey through Thailand. The beach nearby was with only few people and there where amazing large stones at the end of the beach and also partly black sand. Raila helped us organize our trips. There was a possibility for laundry wash by hotel, we had everything we needed and beyond. This was my third time in Thailand beach location and this place was the best. Nearby is a small part of Khao Lak that has everything we needed and also there is a perfect local restaurant about five minutes away, where locals eat as well. I can't recommend this accomodation enough, it was absolutely the best. Everything was ok.

Most probably we'll come back again next year - • Bright room with a large window and balcony, beautiful sea view • 1 minute walk to the beach • There is a kettle, refrigerator, hairdryer, scales • There is shampoo, shower gel • Includes a beach bag with mats and beach towels • There are bathrobes and slippers • Every day they bring water and sachets of coffee/sugar/milk powder • Managed to adjust air conditioner so that it created the desired temperature in the room without turning on the ventilation mode, which could lead to a cold • The safe box is screwed to the cabinet - thieves will not take it away • The shower is well isolated from the toilet, and water does not spill all over the floor • Daily room cleaning is excellent • Internet almost without interruptions; can also be caught on the beach • The hotel has only a dozen rooms, less than half are occupied • At the entrance there is a shower, a faucet for washing feet, a toilet - it is not necessary to go into the room • The staff consists of only 3-4 people, you know everyone personally and it’s pleasant to communicate • The staff is always smiling, friendly, ready to help • Staff understand English well • Breakfast time 7:00–10:30, convenient to choose for any mode • Hearty breakfast to choose from from given sets with possible variations • Breakfast includes juice, water, coffee, milk, fruits • If you sit in the lobby during the day, they always bring you a glass of water • Close to catering establishments • Close to the street with shops • There is no table nor chair in the room for working or eating. There is a table on the balcony, but it is hot there, and it is impossible to move the table into the room, since there is no space. • Bedside table and sockets only on one side of the bed • There are no shelves for clothes in the closet, only hangers • The safe box is very small - an iPad can hardly fit, and a laptop cannot fit. • The lighting in the mirror is poor—it’s impossible to see your face when shaving or doing makeup. • Mosquitoes sometimes get into the room and into the breakfast hall
• Basti (10/5): - Sehr gute Unterkunft, abseits der Luxusbunker. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück ist als „Set“ auswählbar und ausreichend, Das Hotel liegt nicht weit weg von Khao Lak City und dem Nachtmarkt. Zu den Traumstränden Khu Khak Beach und Coconut Beach gelangt man einfach mit dem Roller.
• Ian (10/5): Great Location, with all facilities exceeding expectations - Listed as a two star property on Booking.com, but room facilities reflected 3 star quality. Beach towels, beach matts, beach bag provided, plus good quality toiletries. Breakfast included. Very helpful staff. Great location and we found it quiet and had no trouble sleeping. Quiet beach location, excellent for visiting local beach bars and restaurants. Far exceeded our expectations, to the extent that we will revisit early 2024, despite the 90 minute drive, Booking.com describe this as 250 mtrs from the resort centre. This implies the centre of Khao Lak, which is incorrect. It is a 10 minute drive to the centre of Khao Lak. The resort centre referred to is actually a 10 minute walk away and contains a supermarket and a few bars and restaurants serving local hotels. Having stayed in Khao Lak before, I would thoroughly recommend this nearby resort, unless you want to be in the centre of the action in which case then taxi/drive or stay in Khao Lak town.

• Olga (10/5): Perfect stay near Khao Lak - Location is secluded and the property is located in 100 m near the beach that is never crowded and good for morning runs, facilities are perfect, a room was with very good design, good variety of books were in the room, the host is very friendly, helped us to organise trips to Koh Similan and Bamboo Rafting. The breakfast is traditional and could have a little bit more variety, though it's a very minor issue.

Easy walking distance to beach, even bag with towel and beach layer is offered. Breakfast was the best non-buffet style I had in a Thailand so far! The manager was lovely and did a great job in organising a bus ticket ;)
