• Ellen (10/5): - I reviewed the Treehouse Hostel. The location is very close to Padang Merdeka, so if there are events there, it’s easy to just walk. the only uncomfortable part is that the bathroom has to be shared with other guests.

• Alwi Al-haddad (3/5): Would not stay here again. - Photos of the place were very outdated. Walls were too thin. Every time someone walked pass our room, the whole room would shake, waking us up. The corner of the room was infested by termites and putting my clothes there resulted in termites crawling all over them.

• Nicole (9/5): - Muy céntrico, perfecto para salir caminando a cualquier sitio. También está muy limpio! Y las habitaciones son muy cómodas. Se agradece tener cocina sencilla pero bastante completa. Las paredes son muy delgadas, se escucha absolutamente todo de las habitaciones de al lado, aunque los otros huéspedes hablen flojo. Por desgracia muchos de los huéspedes no respetan las horas de sueño y no hablan bajo durante altas horas de la noche lo cual se hace difícil dormir bien. Por otro lado la habitación huele algo raro, no se si es humedad, pero eso si está muy limpia y con el aire acondicionado se está muy bien!
• Lynette (9/5): Great location and facilities, but lacks the social atmosphere of a hostel. - Location was great (close to the waterfront), room and bed were very comfortable and the hostess (Miki) was very responsive on WhatsApp, kindly permitting me to shower after check out due to a delayed flight. Does not have the social atmosphere nor activities of a hostel, so it is difficult to meet fellow travelers as a solo traveler.

Podeu arreglar també la porta del lavabo ja que no tanca bé. Podrieu dispensar encara que sigui algunes pastilles de sabó. Molta humitat a l’habitació ja que no té finestres.

• Richard (9/5): Great accommodation centrally located - The location is on Upper China Street which is a quiet side street between Carpenter Street and Jalan Wawasan. Brilliant location to go and explore all of Kuching Old Town, the waterfront and the North bank area. Carpenter Street has many restaurants to cater for all tastes. The kitchen facility at the accommodation is very good and has a fridge freezer, microwave, hot plate, kettle and toasters with all cooking utensils. Self cooking is easily achieved. The room we had was a Queen double and was a very good size with a comfortable bed. Very clean with fresh linen and towels. There wasn't much noise coming from the street which was a blessing and there is a wonderful wall art just outside our window which is amazing. There are 3 floors and each has a shower and toilet which are very clean. The communal seating areas (1 per floor) are a welcome break from staying in the room. The host was very accommodating to our needs and listened to our requests which were fulfilled. We have enjoyed our stay here especially as we can walk out and be in the centre of Old Kuching within 2 minutes. Thoroughly recommended. There have been some reviews mentioning the thin walls. This I feel is not an issue of the owner but more about how other guests respect each other. If people are going to chat until 2 am or cook after midnight then that is not the fault of the accommodation. There are signs in the reception asking for guests to acknowledge and appreciate quiet periods for other guests. We were disturbed by other guests during these quiet periods but this wasn't too detrimental to our sleep.

• Nadrah (6/5): Time travel to the 60/70s... - Location is extremely convenient to awesome bars, cafes and restaurants and to Kuching Waterfront. House deco takes you back to 1960/70s vibe. Pretty much self service / check-in/out. Owner/ Manager is super responsive, and easy to deal with via WhatsApp. Let me leave my stuff and take a shower well after I have checked out. Never once saw any staff there, but somehow the place is well kept and clean. I stayed on the ground floor and did not use the upper floors or the kitchen. There was a two major event happening in the area during my stay. But the noise were coming from the other guest going in/ out or up/ down the wooden staircases to use the ground floor shower/ toilets or marathon or catching their flight. Rooms are not sound proof so it can be very noisy. If you're staying on the ground floor, be aware the sewage smell can be very off putting and apparent in the early morning and sometimes in the evening.

• Mike (8/5): Conveniently located hostel, which was pleasant to stay in - I enjoyed my stay. Initially I was given a room that didn't suit me, but a switch was arranged and I was very happy with the new room. There is a kitchen - which is nice to have. Some guests were cooking meals, though there are no dinner plates there. Air con worked well in my room and there was a good shelving unit to put things on and a power plug beside the bed. Wifi was strong. The walls are thin and the floors creaky. It could be pretty bad if inconsiderate people were staying. There is a cleaner visiting every day and the hostel is kept looking tidy and respectable, however it could use some deep cleaning here and there and there is a smell coming from the drains that I don't like.

Just a stone's throw away from Carpenter Street and under 10 minutes of walking to most tourist attractions in the city. The common areas were well-maintained and clean at all times. Someone came in every morning to clean the toilets and showers and clear the bins. They have decent shampoo and soap, so if you forget to bring any you'll be fine! The WiFi was fast and stable. Something I have to highlight was the quality of the host's service! She responded to my questions promptly throughout my stay, and was well-prepared to help me navigate the stressful situation of being locked out of my room, despite not being on site. There are no staff members on site to receive guests, and areas and check-in procedures weren't well-signposted. We needed to do some searching to figure out where things are. Make sure you message the host about check-in instructions before you arrive.
