Breakfast was great too
a highlight of the stay . The window did not open in our room (no.6) so felt and was a bit stuffy as had been a warm day
The room and communal areas were not very clean, perhaps the cleaner had had a day off
- Jeanette (8/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): - Staff were very friendly and the atmosphere excellent. The room was comfortable and clean if in need of a little refurbishment. The food was good, There was nothing to dislike.

- Latham (8/5): Very good food, lovely staff and convenient location. - Great food and staff. Could be updated and given a good clean.
- Jo (10/5): Alway a favourite of ours will continue to visit 👍🏼 - Great location with excellent restaurant and bar, great staff with faultless customer service. Our room although clean needs a new toilet brush and a fresh luck of paint, not a fan of the timer for lights in the bathroom even if it is to save energy.
- ronald (9/5): Enjoyable - Nice atmosphere
- sally (10/5): 10/10, can’t fault this place at all. We will be back - Cosy little Inn, it has a very friendly atmosphere. The best nights sleep in a very long time.
The food was fabulous, we had an evening meal and breakfast and would give both 10/10. Staff were really lovely.
- Paul (10/5): -
- Carolyn (10/5): Nicest stay so far travelling England - Very welcoming, comfy & warm. Dinner & pub was great
- Jo (10/5): -
- Mark (4/5): Filthy. - Location - nice, on our way.
Breakfast was ok. Filthy Bathroom.
Stained carpets. Cold room. No control of heating in room.
The images on the advert are a misrepresentation of the accommodation quality.
Host seemed surprised to see us turn up.
Our check in was interrupted by another member of staff organising dinner for another guest the next day. We didn’t feel very welcome, staff and guest loud and swearing.
- Smith (10/5): -
- Irene (9/5): Lovely Inn would loved to stay longer if in the area again. Great place to use as a base to explore - Nice inn with comfy room, beautifully cooked food great menu and breakfast. Nothing not to like
- William (9/5): - Breakfast superb, great location. Staff really helpful and dinner excellent in the evening.
- Elaine (9/5): Great place would book again. - Convenient on main road. Good tasty breakfast. Very hospitable host. Timer in bathroom would benefit from a few extra minutes especially when having a shower.
- Alison (6/5): - First, the really good bits - the staff were very welcoming & friendly.
The room in the main building was fine, bed was comfortable & clean. Grouting mouldy in bathroom but decent size & good shower,
Clearly a popular village pub.
But - the carpet on the stairs and landing was disgusting. The whole place needs tlc; some things would take very little effort or cost, a pot of paint and weed removal outside.
- Simon (10/5): Very Very Good - Great room and a great pub, staff were very friendly, food was very good. Breakfast omelette was very very good 👍👌
- Liyuan (10/5): Great stay and breakfast - Friendly staff. The room is nice and comfortable. It has everything you need and the bathroom is big clean. The breakfast is phenomenal. The curtain is not blackout. I am sensitive to the light and prefer sleep in a dark room.
- Brian (10/5): -
- John (10/5): - Great food. I had the pie with chips 10/10, breakfast was also a 10/10. Fantastic staff.
- Andrew (9/5): - Excellent food and staff....very friendly. The rain...!
- Barry (10/5): - Welcoming an ideal stop for me as on bike tour
- geoffrey (10/5): Geoff and friends - Beautiful place. Ideal location for exploring. The owners were lovely. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent. Highly recommend a stay at this place. Such a marvellous bunch of staff and so accommodating. 🥰 Nothing not to like 😁

- Marek (8/5): -
- June (9/5): Very welcoming and helpful hosts and staff. Great breakfast. -
- Brian (8/5): Stay for the food. - Excellent food. Good cask beer. Lovely staff. The bed needed a new mattress and the window blind was broken.
- Stephen (10/5): - Excellent location
Food again excellent
- Karen (9/5): - The lodge is a very good idea with the Flexibility of making use of the room. Breakfast was excellent cooked by a genial, gregarious host and nothing was too much trouble for him. Nothing apart from the mattress was a little uncomfortable.
- Mike (8/5): Excellent food, great staff - Staff very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Food excellent. Room clean but a few repairs required in bathroom and bed. Enjoyed our two nights stay.
- Radu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (8/5): Really enjoyable break - Located in a quiet village with very good road access making it an excellent position to explore Holy Island, Berwick, the coast etc etc. Good traditional breakfast (lighter options are available - great omlettess) served from 7 during the week so great for an early start if required. Very pet friendly. Good evening meals, something for most tastes. The fish and chips are especially good. The host and his staff make you feel really welcome. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again. The room we had in the main building was very adequate for our needs including fitting in our spaniel's cage, but you would ideally need a bit more space if you had a larger dog, so just check that when booking a room if bringing a bigger dog.
- Jen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bruce (8/5): Very good -
- Evans (6/5): Pleasant - The food was amazing, and staff was phenomenal.
Shower was lovley and hot The timer in the bathroom for the light and then having to dance around for it to come on to wipe my bottom.
The tv is way to small i was expecting a bigger one with the money i payed.
Room was too hot no fan provided
This could be a personal preference but the bed was so hard and no bounce in the mattress.
- Peter (10/5): Just right - Food and service excellent, ambience friendly. We will return.
- Sandra (8/5): Very good -
- Trevor (10/5): Enjoyed the whole experience need I say anymore! - As I drove the location was fine but there were bus stops very close to the property anyway and Milford is well situated to numerous destinations either inland and coastal. There was ample free parking on site as well. Our apartment was excellent and we got to park straight outside the door. My wife particularly enjoyed the choice of bath or shower!, breakfast and dinner were lovely and plentiful, but the most impressive thing for me was the host Chris nothing and I mean nothing was to much trouble for him, a true gentleman who topped off a beautiful few days for my wife and l. For the price we paid I was truly amazed at the quality of amenities and service, a lovely run family business so much more personal and homelier than the large commercially run hotel chains.
- Warren (10/5): Excellent quality and value for money - The owner was great
Very helpful
Food was excellent All good wished we had stayed a second night
- Stuart (10/5): We felt comfortable, cared for and nourished by our stay. - I was recovering from completing a run along the Pennine Way, I was exhausted, in considerable pain, and a bit grumpy. The large bed, bath and wonderful staff all helped me recover and feel looked after.
My partner and I have already booked to go back. I don’t think there was anything. We only stayed two night and we were very happy.
- Kristine (10/5): - Lovey staff and food
- Mandy (8/5): Very good -
- Nick (9/5): Superb - Excellent stay with two dogs, very welcoming
- Gary (10/5): - A perfect stay with fantastic staff, great food and comfortable spacious rooms. Definitely stay here again.
- Nuria (10/5): Great accommodation for any occasion - It's great to have a restaurant in the same buildings and the fact that it's dog friendly is also a plus. The breakfast was very good as well. Everyone was very friendly and helpful
- Robert (10/5): - Very comfortable stay with relaxed ambience Staff helpful . The food of high standard and varied menu. Would stay here again
- Kemp (9/5): Lovely staff, great location and food, would definitely stay again if travelling this way. -

- Glyn (9/5): Superb - Great location near cycling route. Excellent food
- Sandra (10/5): Lovely staff and good location - The staff were lovely and did me a takeaway breakfast as I was leaving early. No extra charge for my small dog . The room was quite small

- paul (10/5): Summer break - The Lodge we were in was brilliant, no stairs to climb. The staff were friendly, and the whole area was quiet. Will be going again. !!
- Dave (10/5): - I have run out of plaudits for the place, as always it's a pleasure to stay at there, friendly, welcoming and always friendly locals to chat with in the bar.
- Joanne (9/5): A lovely friendly pub, excellent food, clean comfortable beds, very welcoming and great value. - A lovely little inn for a short break. We stayed in the pub itself. Our room was clean with comfy bed. The pub itself was super friendly and the food excellent. We were made to feel very welcome and wou,d definitely stay again. Not a huge issue for us but the shower was very difficult to regulate and the water pressure not great. As other reviewers have said a shelf in the bathroom would be good.
- Robert (8/5): Nice to return. - Stayed here a few times now as a secure accommodation for motorbikes. Because of false information on the booking com app we had a disagreement over complementaries which was quickly resolved with the owner. Will definitely stay again.
- Chapman (10/5): Lovely food - Great food and staff. Very organised with food service. Fantastic food, especially the breakfast. We had a great room with easy access outside for the dogs. Don't charge extra for the dogs. Bed too firm. Pillows not great. Shower temperature pot luck.
Location not great for us, only because nowhere to go unless you get into the car.
- Jeanette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terence (9/5): Superb - As answers to questions above : courteous : pleasant : will certainly use again and pass on recommendation
- J (9/5): A relaxing and enjoyable stay. Good beer, great food. - Great breakfast and coffee. Public bar and dining room were busy but welcoming. The bedroom was clean, tidy and nicely decorated, with fresh linens, a comfortable large bed. The rural location was easily accessible and convenient for visiting the hills and coast.
Hosts Sophie and Chris and all the staff were friendly and quietly efficient. We stayed two nights and ate in the restaurant both evenings. Fab food and service. Everything we chose from the varied evening menu was tasty and the portions were generous. The ensuite bathroom shower temperature is a little hard to control but does the job when you work out how to adjust it.
- Fae (8/5): Very good -
- Marcin (10/5): - Nice, clean with very kind staff. Great food, top owners. Excellent location if you like hiking.
- Dave (10/5): Superb - Sophie and Chris had set the bar high when I first visited, and superb it still is.
- Michelle (10/5): Very good. Bar food good excellent breakfast - Very clean and cozy The TV was extremely small could do with an upgrade
- Danni (9/5): Superb - Stayed in one of the cabins with our two dogs, one who had been sedated at vets all day so we couldn't leave him in room. Staff were great and brought dinner to our room. Very helpful and friendly.
Lovely room. Shower was amazing.
- Geoffrey (8/5): A very nice stay with decent weather for time of year. - Location was great for what we wanted to do.
Food was excellent and plentiful.
Staff were very helpful. Bath was a bit tricky getting in & out - would have preferred a walk-in shower.
- Andrew (10/5): Great R&R break - Just what we needed for a 3 day break travelling up to Scotland to visit family
- Lexie (10/5): Sensational - property exactly as described, the food was excellent and the service exceptional. Highly recommended.

- Stephen (9/5): A great stay in Northumberland - Chris & Sophie run an excellent pub with accommodation. Located in an enviably good position, major attractions are within easy reach.
Good selection of beers, wines, friendly staff & superb freshly cooked food. The ensuite bathrooms could do with shelving near sinks for toiletries.
