The young lady serving breakfast was polite and accommodating but it was a very busy time. She had to apologise a lot for delays yet having a second member of staff would have been beneficial. She was rushing around and working incredibly hard.

- Diana (4/5): Spoiled - I chose the property because it was supposed to be dog friendly and an extra fee was paid for this I don’t think it is truly dog friendly as I was charged an extra £75 for a “deep clean” because on the last night my dog (which we kept in a crate) chewed some of his own bedding which left scraps of material on the floor. On the morning of departure before being returned to his crate he accidentally left two paw marks on the edge of the bed because the grass outside was wet. When I pointed this out I was told that the room needed a deep clean because the cleaners said the room had an odour. I felt deeply insulted as there was certainly no odour when we left that room, it was in good order except for the bits of material from his own bedding. I thought paying extra for a dog would cover such minor things. I can only think that the cleaners wished to make extra money.

Unfortunately our room must have been located near an extraction unit or something as there was continual noise all night, disrupting our sleep. There is no one on site to address this during the night. When I spoke to staff in the morning they were unapologetic.

- Clodagh (9/5): Lovely country hotel in great rural setting - We’ve been visiting Scarborough Hill for many years. The new owners have really done a great job of refurbishing the hotel over time. Each bedroom has been beautifully redecorated. Public areas are lovely. Breakfast is fantastic in a lovely cosy room. Lots of character. Great value in a lovely country setting. It would be great if the hotel reception was manned in the evening but assistance is on hand if required.

The staff were very helpful friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We also had dinner at the property which was also excellent and of an extremely high restaurant quality. The facilities were excellent we also took our dog and the staff couldn’t do enough to welcome him. There was a very comfortable dog bed bowls treats and a towel for him to use. Our room was comfortable and welcoming and had excellent views of the grounds. Better signs to find the hotel and the signs they do have need to have better lighting.

- Dominic (10/5): Room 1 was beyond beautiful, absolutely amazing - Breakfast was lovely, very fresh, creative twist. Dinner was tasty. The staff were wonderful, felt very welcome from the first moment we stepped through the door. The room was absolutely beautiful, extremely comfortable bed and unbelievable bathroom. Lovely garden view and gardens. Will be back! £76 for dinner and 3 drinks. Two mains at £18 and £19. So 3 pints, small bottle of water and a single gin cost almost 40 quid. Should have picked up the receipt really, £9 a drink is a lot really. Lovely staff though, beautiful room and property.
