Guest Reviews
- Feiyang (10/5): - This place is located about 7km away from Percé. It is right by the beach offering panoramic views. There's plenty of parking. The interior is decorated with a distinctive wooden cabin style, which reminds me of a hunter's lodge & gives it a lot of character.
The owner is super nice and incredibly patient. Since it was off-peak season, she generously upgraded us to a big room with a huge private bathroom. The room was spotless too and well maintained.
Breakfast is complimentary and made fresh. You order at the front desk, and the kitchen prepares it the next morning. You don't see that often these days!
At the end we paid $272 for 2 nights. Taxes included!
Overall, we were really happy with our stay. Would definitely recommend staying here instead of overpaying in town!
- Sheila (10/5): - Excellent stay , very close to the beach . Pleasant atmosphere, clean and quiet. An 8 min drive to Perce Will book again loved it thanx to all the staff and the chef for my scrabbled eggs lovely ....
- Ananthakrishnan (10/5): - Overall It was fantastic !
- Mark (10/5): Great stay! - Was a great stay. As advertised with great service and ambience. An authentic and genuine experience. Great breakfast to go with it! Looking forward to next time.
- Ananthakrishnan (10/5): - Awesome experience
- Allain (10/5): - Très belle plage
- Jong Sang (10/5): - The owner is so kind and friendly. Good for a beach walk. The breakfast is delicious.
- Barbara (10/5): - This was a heavenly place, an inn made up of various cabins, sitting on the Gaspe Peninsula, on a long stretch of beach extending several miles. The kitchen is accessible to all, breakfast is a choice of several good things individually made for each guest. It feels more like a large roomy country home where you are free to roam a series of dreamlike spaces, design your meal, only your hosts are not meddlesome like bad relatives but helpful, yet mindful of your independence in this homey space: The hosts are like the type of relatives you wish you had. There are a myriad of touches that make this place special beyond the spectacular view, such as the aesthetics of the place, its non commercial smell, that even the best hotels suffer from with nauseating aromatic cleansers. Here the wood construction and wood furniture give off a cedar smell, the place is spotless and everything works. The bedding is so
comfortable that you will sleep even if you are an insomniac. I was, to quote Blanche Dubois, dependent “on the kindness of strangers,” as this is a region requiring a car and I came just with a pair of legs, a train, a regional airline, buses; and relied on two fantastic taxi drivers, a kind fellow traveler and a construction worker— who saved me halfway of a crazy walk back from town to the hotel. Had I
been stuck at Cape de Base Gaspesie, however, I would not have minded one bit. I am glad I had the good sense to choose it.
- David (10/5): - This was a wonderful place, with great staff. The building is full of character and the setting beautiful. Loved it.
- Mario (8/5): - Belle endroits
- Megan (10/5): Amazing food and great service! - Great stay! The breakfast and dinner was amazing. Best pancakes I’ve ever had!
- Marie (10/5): - Lovely area, rooms are very charming! The breakfast was delicious and the server was amazing. Easy beautiful drive to Percé for touristic activities but they also offer a variety of activities at the Camp de Base as well for an extra fee! Would highly recommend for families or just individuals looking for a calm pleasant time at the beach.
Salutations,
Stéphane
- Shufeng (10/5): - Super !
- shaena (8/5): - Poised right on the beach and a short drive to the busy town of Perce. Be ready to share a bathroom with 3 other rooms. Great food and people are lovely. Enough English speaking staff to accommodate our limited French.
- Kishara (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay here. Rustic, original and charming. They eye candy of antiques and artifacts was a pleasure. Lots of local artists works on the walls upstairs (we actually bought a wonderful painting). The room itself was clean and sufficient. The shared bathroom was never overly busy and was cleaner than clean. The staff were wonderful and full of information about the area and the inn itself. We did not eat at the restaurant as we brought all of our meals, but using the bbq was a breeze. The beac is steps away, great for watching the lobster boats in the morning and rockhounding for agate and other awesome rocks. The food looked delicious though. Pro tip: you will see the most magnificent sunset from an awesome fun to drive, windy road up the mountain on Rte de Failles. You'll know you are there when you see the stand alone chimney. Park there. There's a second awesome view if you take the path that runs behind the abandoned cabins.
Camp de Base was a great stay and we'll stay again.
- Alexandre (10/5): - Super place
- Hugo (10/5): - Unique and charming property with great views and amazing staff! Next time im traveling to Gaspesia Im definitely going back!
- Kathleen (10/5): - This is a perfectly lovely and historic inn. The restaurant food was outstanding!
The weather was hot, hot, hot. The inn and rooms are not air conditioned which was unfortunate but the bedroom was charming and the bed comfortable. We would stay here again!
- paul (10/5): A corner of paradise - Staying in a 200 year old Inn has its charm and when the service impeccable what more can you ask for. And of course access to the prettiest beach in Gaspésie is a bonus
- Denis (10/5): - Everething
- Paul (10/5): - A wonderful place to stay! We LOVED the kind staff, food and fascinating locale/atmosphere!
Highly recommended!!
- Glikeria (10/5): - This bed & breakfast is fascinating with all the antiques in it.
So friendly & beautiful view by the water
- Josee (8/5): - Staff was wonderful. Property offers access to the beach and is a short drive to Percé. Breakfast was quite good. Shared bathroom was surprisingly clean and neat. The rooms themselves are as described. Note that the rooms have no sound proofing so it can be bothersome especially for light sleepers.
Lots of water activity
- Bill (10/5): - A festinating old property. Somewhere up to 200 years old so lots of history. Has had a good facelift, in that the origins are still visible. Even the floors creaked appropriately. Staff was first rate, both for the check in and breakfast. Accommodated us in English with no hesitation. We did not have a dinner reservation and they were full with a bus tour, but arranged a take away dinner for us to eat in the library with our own wine. They supplied the glasses. Very close to the sea an easy walk and the beach stretches for miles in both directions. Only there over night but will be going back as our schedule permits. Would like to rent one of their out cabins right on the beach and stay longer. The whole experience was a very fortunate pick on our part.
- Sheila (6/5): - This is the first Auberge we have stayed at. I thought there would be a shared kitchen so that we could freeze our icepack and keeps drinks cold, but there wasn't one and our room did not have a small fridge. The person working the bar and taking food orders was definitely over-worked. Thought there would be a spot for us to look after ourselves, i.e. at breakfast an area for those staying to help themselves to coffee, etc., but it was all served.
- Philippe (10/5): - Adorable antique filled place. If you’re looking for 5 star hotel with all the trappings, this is not it. We wanted a clean, character-filled place to stay while in percé. This was it! Amazing view in the water
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rooms are very clean, breakfasts are delicious and the view is splendid. Staff is very friendly and they organized a a lot of great on-site activities (beer tasting, kayak, etc.). Around 10 minutes drive from the city of Percé. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - In my many years of travil ill go as far as saying this place has 2 of my top 5 spots i felt at home
- Pascal (4/5): - Prices were very expensive for what we had. The room was tiny, the bathroom is shared we too many others.
- Brice (6/5): Suitable to a short stay - Good location, good pricing. The room was clean and the breakfast good. However, the night was terrible due to loose bedding and excessive heat in the room (the window could not open). Plus, there was only one power socket, and it was not easily accessible (behind the bed).
- Boris (8/5): - We had a great stay. The place is very old and interesting. The restaurant was very nice. We walked to the beach right next to the auberge.
- Marie-M (4/5): - A little bit disapointed in our stay at this property.
The location is beautifull with the beach being just a couple steps away from the hotel, unfortunatly because of an injured legs we didn't get to enjoy.
We had to paid extra to get a private bathroom instead of the shared one, however the one we got was kind of disapointing,
Old toilet with grandma plastic covers and that had to be flushed 2-3 times brought me back to the old days (the one I don,t mind leaving behind).
We wished it was mentionned in the listing that the bathroom only had a bath, not a shower, wasn't very practical.
old windows was condemmed in the bathroom with a cloth pinned on the wall.
Very squeaky and somewhat uncomfortable matress, no blinds on any windows so hard to sleep in the morning.
Hotel was quite noisy during the day and morning with kids running around and playing. We also got woken up by construction happening at the hotel around 7 AM.
Overall charming place but that really needs a little upgrade and a bit of love.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - They have a nice restaurant and the property is on the water where you can see the sunrise in the east. This is a very old structure and in keeping the rustic style, the bedroom walls are single layered wood that allows sound to carry from room to room without dampening - you can hear people snoring as if they were in your room. Also, the bed mattress was as hard as a box spring and very uncomfortable. These two factors made it impossible to get a good might’s rest in an otherwise friendly and quaint hotel.
- Jean Guy (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay, but we would gave prefered to have a shower in the bath.. food was very good. Service by the employees is excellent. We would recommend that place .very satisfy.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The property is being renovated. It is 150 years old. Our bedroom door could not close unless it was locked. The room is not air conditioned. The door has gaps all around which lets light pour in from the hall at night and kept me awake along with the heat in in the room. Only two pillows and no sitting chair as the antique chair was fragile. No main light in room and it had only two small bedroom lamps, one of which did not work. Share bathroom with all guests and not great.
- Jiang (2/5): - room extremely small, dirty & uncomfortable, no place to sit down and put things on, only a dirty dresser wet & sticky, no standard power outlet, no AC, no shower, hot water milky, mosquitoes heaven, no drinking water supply, no vending machine......
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This is a lovely situated property. The woman running the front desk was very kind and helped us with explaining the property. Overall the hotel was average for cleanliness (shared bathrooms weren’t that clean). This place was under renovations when we visited so perhaps they will do some upgrades.
- Joyce (2/5): Crappy - Didn't sleep all night. No air conditioning. Bathroom was in the hallway. Bed squeaked every time ine of us moved. Room was so small we had to walk sideways when getting in or out of bed.
- A.U (6/5): - The room is very tiny. Don’t even have a space to walk next to the bed really
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice rustic place. But the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the next rooms over
- Sophie (10/5): - Old building with all the charm in the world, with amazing location on the beach!
