We were there in September, and what made this stay so wonderful, were Michael & Gilles. You could not ask for more accommodating, kind people. They were always available to us and recommended some wonderful restaurants. The breakfasts were wonderful at this B&B, and it was very convenient to all the sites in the area.

Our room was large and clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was excellent and our hosts were very warm and welcoming. The house was very convenient to all of the attractions in Bayeux. You should stay here!

We had access to a living room and a spacious garden with our room. They are very close to the meeting place for many tours and a laundromat is close too. This was an unexpected gem! • Marc (10/5): Wonderful guest house - The property is a beautiful bed and breakfast (guest house) in a revamped old mansion. There are five rooms, ours was beautifully decorated and comfortable. Michael and Giles are wonderful hosts, friendly outgoing and fun. The (included) breakfast was one of the highlights of our trip to France, Giles is the chef and makes almost everything that is served from scratch. You will need to manoeuvre some stairs and be careful of some low ceilings and beams but I doubt there is a better place to stay in Bayeux.

The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, modern in many ways and a very large and modern private bathroom. However, the best are the two owners (Michael and Guisse). Delightful, warm and helpful people! Very close and walkable to restaurants and cafes as well as cathedral and tapestry museum along with meeting points to war memorials. Easy parking in lot behind the manor with access to the garden.

An astonishing room with unexpected design flourishes and a lovely comfortable and large bed. Breakfast is wonderful too; starring the homemade jams and crumbles of Gilles plus their unique choices of crockery. Very convenient for the centre of the town and for car parking. But really this brilliant guesthouse is about the exquisite warmth of the hosts Gilles and Michael.

• Kimberly (10/5): - This place is truly magical. From the gardens that greet you, to the house and rooms themselves, you will feel like you're staying in a feature article from Architectural Digest. Michael and Gilles were so kind and helpful - from being the most hospitable hosts to making dinner reservations for us, we felt completely cared for the entire time we were there. The home is just right in the middle of the city and you can walk everywhere. The breakfasts in the morning were the perfect way to start our days (my husband said the croissant was the best he'd ever had!) The gardens were perfect for taking in an afternoon drink after a long day of D-Day tours. We bought cider from them, but there are also wine stores right in town. Just a couple notes: This is a small town and the days we were there, a lot of things were closed, so I'd definitely recommend making reservations for dinner in advance or asking Michael and Gilles about this when you first arrive. There was some shower gel, but no shampoo or conditioner. This was not a problem, but just something that would've been helpful to know in advance. The pillows were not as firm as we're used to, but again, just a minor inconvenience. Also to note - check-in is 6-8pm. Since the site states this, it was not a surprise, but something that may affect your lodging choice. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming through Bayeux, especially if you're doing a D-Day tour, as many of them seem to leave directly from Bayeux.
• Dennis (10/5): - This is a beautiful guesthouse with wonderful hosts Gilles and Michael. The location is perfect… a five minute walk to excellent restaurants, cathedral and museums. The decor was gorgeous as were the extensive gardens. The bathrooms were updated and modern and good water pressure in the shower. Breakfast was included and was fabulous! So delicious and plenty of food. We came on the recommendation of friends and would absolutely stay here again if we return to Bayeux. Highly recommend!

The owners lovingly restored an old house in the middle of Bayeux into a beautiful, comfortable, quiet haven, steps away from the charms of the town. Service was professional and friendly, our room was exquisitely furnished and sparkling clean, and the location is unbeatable. Above all, though, the hosts were delightful. An absolutely lovely stay.

• Mr (10/5): Possibly the best place we've ever stayed - An extraordinary property: a beautiful historic building which has been superbly renovated, retaining its original charm but now featuring modern bathrooms and facilities and the most wonderful garden. If this were not enough, Gilles et Michael are amazing hosts and went above and beyond the call of duty to help us when one of our party was taken ill. We'll never forget their kindness. Can't wait to go back.
• Marisol (10/5): The Quintessential Château experience - This place was fabulous! My friend and I loved it! The accommodation is a stylishly decorated old château with a small amount of individual rooms and a lovely backyard. Our en suite was very large with a comfortable bed and accompanying furniture from the 1800s to early 1900s. Moreover, every morning, we were summoned by the light sounds of jazz and treated to a filling breakfast laid out on a splendid display of antique China.

The hosts were very helpful and made a beautiful breakfast! Bayaux is the best place to stay if you want to explore the beaches and do a day trip to Mont St. Michel. The rooms were large with nice bathrooms and showers. They property has 2 beautiful gardens. In the front it was smaller. The back garden was huge. One of the best places I ever stayed.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - I cannot say enough great things about this place and the owners -- Gilles and Michael. I felt like I was transported back in time to an old country manor. My room was enormous and was exceptionally well appointed down to the last detail. Gilles and Michael renovated this property keeping the old world charm but at the same time modernizing the bathrooms such that guests have the best of both worlds. You are situated right smack in the middle of Bayeux in walking distance of pretty much everything! Yet, if you sit in the quaint courtyard late at night or early in the morning, you can hear a pin drop as it is so quiet and peaceful! Gilles and Michael are exceptionally gracious hosts and they offer an exceptionally good breakfast and will check with you the night before to see when you would like it served! I plan on going back to Bayeux and I have no need to look at any other hotels --- if this one is available, this is where I will stay!

• Megan (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Normandy - This was an ideal place to stay in Normandy. Bayeux is beautiful and the location of this B&B was perfect. The B&B itself is lovely and our room had a great view of the courtyard and the cathedral. But what made our stay truly wonderful was the hospitality of the hosts. They are friendly, helpful and approachable - truly exemplary. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would feel lucky if I could stay there again.

• Chase (10/5): Wonderfully Appointed B&B with Phenomenal Hosts - Gilles & Michael were amazing hosts during a four day stay in Bayeux. We were met at the front gate during the established check-in time and were given a thorough walk through of the property and our room. We were provided a spacious room on the ground floor with two beds, a beautifully renovated bathroom, TV and direct access to the courtyard. Wi-Fi was excellent and allowed for uninterrupted streaming of video. Breakfast time was tailored to our needs allowing for an early meet up with our tour guide or late start for our sleep in day. My father and I could not have been more happy with our choice of stay and if we are afforded the opportunity to visit the Normandy region again we will be staying with Gilles & Michael.

Our accommodations at La Clos de la Croix were truly exceptional in all respects. The rooms were so unique and charming and the location was perfect, being in the heart of the little town. Best of all was the outstanding service proved by the owners, Gilles and Michael. It was among the best bed and breakfast establishments we have ever visited.
• Richard (10/5): Gem in Bayeux - Great location close to restaurants and attractions. This is really a B&B. Owners, Gilles and Michael, were very attentive. Very clean home dating back to the 18th century, but updated electric and plumbing. Beautiful garden in the back.
• Victor (10/5): Wonderful Property and Location - Gilles and Michel are the ultimate host for your stay in Bayeux. The property is located in the city center walking distance to many of the local tourist attractions and restaurants and within 15 minute drive to the D-Day beaches and museums. With an unassuming front door, you pass through a well-maintained courtyard and approach an 18th century manor that has been subdivided into well decorated guestrooms. You are transformed into another era with modern amenities. Gilles and Michel make you feel welcomed and are available to help you with any details of your visit to the area. Free parking is also available if you are driving a car. Le Clos de Croix is my first choice when staying in Bayeux. Thank you Gilles and Michel for such a wonderful stay and visit!

Our room was remodeled yet still has the old French charm from centuries ago. Our hosts went above and beyond in every detail from the room decorating to the quaint touches to make us comfortable to the lovely breakfast every morning in the dining room. Their hospitality was over the top and we enjoyed every moment at this delightful bed and breakfast.

• Timothy (8/5): Nice apartment in a quiet location. - This is a nice apartment in a quiet area. It looks like it has recently been remodeled. We had no trouble finding it with Apple maps and navigation. The town is small and everything is within walking distance. We chose this unit as it was a midway point on our trip and had a washer and dryer listed. Just to be correct, the apartment building has a washer and dryer available. It does not have a washer and dryer in the room. This worked out fine for us but we thought it would be in the room itself. So if you need to do laundry you may find the unit in use and you may need to wait to get your laundry done as it is shared with other tenants. The washer and dryer are on the ground floor in the stairwell to the room. The room was very clean with complimentary bottled water and 2 beers left for us in the fridge, Thanks! It is not a large room but quite comfortable for 2 with a modern bathroom and shower. The payment process is a little cumbersome. Aude sent me an email and text requesting my credit card information for payment. At the same time I get an email from Hotels.com saying never give that information out. So what do you do? I called Aude and gave her the info anyway and everything was fine. I do think this needs to be straightened out to avoid security problems. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this apartment.
• Jennifer (10/5): Highlight of our vacation! - I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Hotel particulier le clos de la Croix! Our ferry into Caen arrived late and Gilles and Michael were so understanding and warm and welcoming when we arrived in the dark! The personal touch was so appreciated. The historic French Manor was even more beautiful and breathtaking in person. It felt like a treat to be able to stay there during our vacation. The entire Manor was fabulously decorated, while being comfortable and spotless. We stayed in the Family Suite on the top floor and had the most amazing views of the Cathedral out of our windows and were able to keep the windows open at night for the nice breeze! Beautiful, brand-new bathroom. We stayed with our 2 kids who really enjoyed their separate room and the nice living area in our room to relax. The backyard gardens provided a beautiful place to relax and both the inside and the outside of the Manor were a feast for the eyes! Just an amazing, special place to stay - made only better with Gilles and Michael who were the best of the best. The morning breakfasts were delicious and I looked forward to my warm tea and yummy breakfast every morning! I loved the fresh fruit and everything was presented on beautiful, fun and colorful plates and bowls! You will marvel at the surroundings, Gilles and Michael, the adorable spaniel Galopin, the food, comfort, views and superb restoration and decoration of the Manor. We are already planning our next trip back!
• Verified traveler (10/5): - This property was like staying in a mini castle. It was so beautiful and Gilles and Michael were amazing hosts. They helped carry our luggage from our van to the upstairs and back down when we left. They were a wealth of information. They were so kind and polite and appreciative. The property is exceptional. I would highly recommend. I think we might have been one of the first guests of the season so I would just want to let you know that the heating is not what you would expect as in a hotel - it was very chilly the first night but got warmer every night that we stayed. Do not let this stop you from staying here though. The little village of Bayeux is right there with shops and plenty of restaurants and everyone there welcomes Americans. There were plenty of things to see in this little village and so close to all the Normandy stops.

Gilles and Michael have clearly put an enormous amount of time and effort into making the stay of each of their guests memorable. They were very warm and welcoming, met us at the door to introduce themselves and could barely be convinced not to carry our luggage for us. The rooms in this beautiful 18th century home are amazing, and matched by the large and quiet garden that is a hidden gem for guests. Breakfast is served in a room with large windows overlooking the front garden, and the table setting alone was worth it, let alone the fresh food and coffee. Young or old, french-speaking or not - don't bother booking anywhere else in Normandy, go here for god's sake.

It is great to be able to stay in a home that is absolutely beautiful and in the middle of the everything. Great location for visiting all Normandy sights. • Jane (10/5): Perfect - Le Clos de la Croix was simply amazing. The beautiful building dates back to the 1700s. The owners, Gilles and Micheal, have lovingly maintained the ambiance of a historical home, while adding modern comforts. Our room was large, spotless, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. Free, safe parking is available - just ask for directions. The location is perfect for walking all over Bayeux, boarding a D-Day tour, or driving to other parts of Normandy. We enjoyed our stay so much that I was sad to leave.

From making the reservation to leaving for our next destination, Gilles and Michel did everything to make this a visit to remember. The bedroom and sitting area where perfectly private, comfortable and relaxing, the home historically intriguing with an extraordinary garden, and the breakfasts well prepared with just the right amount of food. • colin (10/5): Wonderful place in Bayeux - A wonderful place to stay in the middle of Bayeux. Lovingly restored 1750s house. Our room was beautifully furnished. Our en suite shower room was superb with quality fittings. There were fresh flowers in the bedroom, picked from the large, enclosed gardens. Interesting artefacts filled the public areas. The breakfasts were a real delight with fresh fruit, fresh croissants and breads, home made preserves and marmalade. The two owners were most helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Advice regarding local restaurants and interesting places to visit was happily given. If you are visiting Bayeux this is a wonderful place to stay. Free parking just around the corner. We shall return if Brexit allows!!
