Guest Reviews
- David (10/5): - The New Inn staff were very welcoming the food was lovely would definitely stay here again
- Kirsty (8/5): Great little spot - The hotel was easy to find and luckily we bagged the last parking spot so no issues there. Once checked in and paid we were shown to our room and the room and building keys explained to us. The room itself was clean and tidy and enough space for us staying for one night. A wardrobe and desk area came in handy for getting ready. The bedroom floor was a little uneven which is to be expected in an old building, but could be a hazard for someone with mobility issues. The bathroom was clean and tidy although the toilet seat was smaller than the toilet so made for a bit of a precarious experience when using the facilities. The WiFi was not explained nor was there anything in the room with the code so we had to go back downstairs to ask for that. Otherwise a pleasant experience all round. Checkout was simple the next morning, just back down to the bar area and someone was waiting to take the keys from us.
- Chris (8/5): - Great location and rooms been done out lovely - there was slight confusion around breakfast as when we went down they said we hadn't got it included but then on showing the booking details from Expedia where it said that breakfast was included - apart from that, great spot and had some lovely food as well
- Ketil (10/5): - Quiet. Clean. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Ross (10/5): - Beautiful room and lovely staff.
- AS (8/5): Great Service with A smile 😊 - Lovely comfortable room with a lover shower. Little noisy as above restaurant but to be expected when staying in a pub. The team Thomas and the nice lady who served evening dinner were absolutely amazing. Service was triple As. Would definitely return . Thank you
- Richard (10/5): Excellent all round - Great place. Lovely country pub and room was beautiful, really nice breakfast. Unbeatable for the price. Highly recommend.
- Ryan (10/5): Couple stay away - Lovely pub great food and drinks

Very clean & comfortable room, time for breakfast was arranged with the owner the evening before and was delicious. Would definitely recommend if visiting Cumbria
- Cristina (8/5): - Buon rapporto qualità /prezzo
- Lucy (10/5): Great sray - Fab room food downstairs in the pub was delicious highly recommend the carvery
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bed good, breakfast mediocre. - A very comfortable bed and nice room. Wouldn't bother with breakfast, could get better at Morrison's cafe.
- Carolyn (10/5): Little gem - One night stop over en route to our final destination. Everything was spot on from the village to the pub to the rooms and food. Service was great. Definitely recommend and would go back.
- Fiona (10/5): - Lovely village pub with a great atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful 🙂
- Darran (10/5): - Lovely place to stay, great staff, very good good

- Verified traveler (2/5): We would never stay here again - We were extremely disappointed and we will never stay here again.
We had an awful experience here. Paid extra on an already expensive room for breakfast, then the next day 8:30AM, expecting a nice breakfast we were informed by the cleaner that there is no chef, and therefore no breakfast. No contact about this beforehand.
Furthermore, trying to get a refund even for the breakfast that we paid extra for and never got is proving extremely difficult. We feel completely scammed.
The room itself was OK, it feels like the decor is trying hard to feel "premium" on a budget but the room lacks basic items like a bar of soap. It was definitely not worth the price for the room even without breakfast in our opinion.
- Mandy (6/5): - While the property itself was lovely and the pub manager really good we were disappointed because there was no food available at the New Crown and we weren’t told until we telephoned during our drive to say we were going to be later than planned . Expedia were supposed to have informed us about the food but hadn’t done so also Apparantly this has been the case since Mid October. After a 6 hour journey the last thing we wanted was to have to find food in the nearest town and again find breakfast.
If we had known about the lack of food we wouldn’t have stayed here. Also there was a big dip in the mattress almost like a hole ( window side) and the mirror light didn’t work in the bathroom. It is also a bit weird because the manager does not live in so basically guests are just locked upstairs in the pub on their own ( with a way out) but it did seem very odd
- Hicham (4/5): Cold Night - Hotel.com didnot advise that the Pub will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The room was cold as the heating was not on. The drinking glasses were not in protective bags and were next to the toilet rather than the sink as per photograph on the site. There were cobwebs on the bathroom door frame. Apart from that yjd host was very nice anc the breakfast was delicious.
- James (10/5): Little gem of a pub and hotel - 10/10 - food exceptional, pints exceptional. Room is absolutely beautiful, no expense spared on decoration and furniture. Shower was brilliant and bed extremely comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and huge. Best scrambled eggs I've had at a hotel. 14 minutes from my office in Hackthorpe and plan to stay again.
- Alec (10/5): - Lovely welcome, room was spacious and luxurious and good beer on tap!
- Ray (8/5): - Beautiful Building in easy access of the A66. Very friendly and helpful Staff. Room was very clean and comfortable with all the required facilities. Would definitely use again.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, comfortable and welcoming but a bit noisy. - We enjoyed our stay at the New Crown Inn. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we received a nice welcome when we arrived.
The rooms are above the village pub and so are understandably a bit noisy while the pub is open but also sound proofing between rooms is not great - we could easily hear conversations from our neighbours.
- Mark (10/5): Great place to stay - Friendly Staff, clean room and excellent food.
- steven (6/5): - The pub b&b was lovely
- Helen (10/5): - Absolutely amazing stay, the staff, the room, the food! Can’t wait to revisit.

- Michael (8/5): Lovely cosy pub - Very nice village pub. Cosy and stylish at the same time.
Only stayed one night so just one evening meal which was excellent. The best fish that I have had for a long time and beautifully cooked. The breakfast was also very good.
The bed was on the small side but comfortable. There were a few maintenance issues in the bathroom that needed attention but overall we were very satisfied.
- Verified traveler (10/5): The New Crown Inn - A well presented and cosy room awaited my stay. All staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. Food was delicious and a good selection on the menu. Free parking outside and if it is full, lots of on street parking available for free.

Service was very attentive, polite and welcoming.
I ordered two meals and two breakfasts...both tasty and well presented.
Pub was noisy but only before ten o'clock.
I parked in the pub's car park.
- Duncan (10/5): Excellent! - Excellent newly furbished B&B outside Appleby. Very comfortable and cosy. Superb service from the team and top quality food. The Bedroom Art is very impressive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely friendly pub with great food Very relaxing Room was lovely Great place for a country break near the lakes but away from the hustle and bustle
- Lewis (10/5): - The place is very clean and also homely. The facilities are modern and updated
- Gerard (10/5): A Real Gem in Cumbria - We stayed there for 1 night after a booking error in our reserved hotel. Hotels .com organised the replacement hotel. This an amazing hotel. Friendly and helpful staff who could not do enough for us. The locals were warm and friendly also. The bar and restaurant area are just great. Our room while fairly small was immaculate, we understand larger rooms are available. Breakfast was fantastic. The overall ambiance of the hotel is just great.
We would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends. Will definitely be back if we are in the area again.
- Liam (10/5): New Crown Inn Was Excellent - This was first class. We hadn't expected to be staying there so booked at the last minute. Location is an idyllic village. The place itself is newly renovated. Food superlative. We were received by Laura who looked after us perfectly and was very friendly. The bar is attractive and the locals friendly. Room very clean and modern with comfortable beds. Seriously - we don't generally get too worked up about staying in places and leave general reviews but this stands out. Highly recommended.
