• Robert (8/5): A good short stay - Well equipped and close to amenities and metro. Short stay so washing machine, dishwasher, hob, oven , microwave not needed. Some minor repair of damage on walls , crack in widow required. The apartment did suffer from street noise throughout night, otherwise comfortable for sleep. Room access by app on mobile phone somewhat stressful - concern over loss of charge. A socket adaptor for uk plugs on site would have been appreciated.
• Chris (4/5): Bad stay - This was not a good experience for us It was sold a a luxury apartment But it was not very basic with a drab feel Broken furniture and a lift that is used as a communion toilet I would not wish anybody else the same experience There are some lovely hotels in Budapest but this is definitely not one of them
• Verified traveler (4/5): - I have worked with hospitality and hotels for the last 30 years and stayed in lots of different places of all types around the world, and I very rarely leave reviews. However, this time it is needed. For the Astoria loft in Budapest I just have to as the way they are caring for their business is really an insult to anyone trying to make a living of a hotel. The lack of care and attention is striking. Here below a few comments which you really should address sometime in the near future should you reconsider and actually care about your business. Who knows, it could possibly increase the rating which would give you a chance to revise the prices too. After all, and in your defense, the prices are low which is a bit strange for such a central location. 1. Firstly, clean it up. The amount of dust, marks on walls, sweat marks on sofa, on pillows, dirty curtains and more is far beyond what normal persons consider dirty. The scuff marks from luggage all over the walls can easily be cleaned, the sofa and bedding can be washed and surfaces can be wiped off. For the mold stains on the ceiling in the bathroom, clean with chlorine and repaint. Same with the grouting, and the shower appliances. And for the dust, a vacuum would be your best course of action here rather than a broom. I had written a really long review but realize it isn't worth it. Without the cleaning, there is really no idea. I have attached some photos to verify.

• Michelle (8/5): Beautiful Budapest - Convenient location close to subway and airport drop off. Disappointed with the luxury description. Modern but basic. Bathroom was great. But Kitchenette not well equipped and in need of a deep cleanse. Not enough utensils, crockery for 2. Bed was really soft and hard to get in and out of as a result. Lounge /kitchen/ bedroom area needed a refresh / some tlc. City was wonderful and the apartment is in a great location to explore from
• Michael (8/5): - Great place. Great Location. Could be a little cleaner. Found an empty beer bottle on the floor.
• Yi (2/5): Very bad experience - When I arrived at 8pm, found the key broken and virtual reception said it takes 3 hours to get a replacement. Offered me a replacement which is really hard to get to and the condition of the property is not on the same standard. I refused the offer and asked them to cancel the booking for me, got rejected. Would not recommend.

Since this was an apartment, I expected at least a tea bag or two, but there were 0 supplies in the kitchen. Apartment was nice, but without bare amenities. Area was good, with store and conveniences nearby.

• Emma (10/5): - Beautiful big space and amazing location within walking distance to all the major tourist sites. Super quiet especially considering it’s on a pretty main road. Felt incredibly safe which is especially important to me when travelling as a solo female. My only criticism would be that the place could be a little more polished. All fine at first glance but just little things like one of the drawers wouldn’t stay shut, the remote for the blinds was missing a button (still functional but not as easy to use), the mugs were all chipped and there was only one knife (fine for me but the apartment sleeps up to 4 and I don’t think sharing a single knife would be ideal!). All small, inexpensive and easy fixes though and the only reason I wouldn’t give this place 5/5. Still an excellent experience and would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.
• SARAH (6/5): Great location - Great location for exploring city, apartment generous in sizing and a whole family could stay in the room. Inside apartment clean and comfy with large 50" smart TV, albeit we couldnt figure out the volume control! It would have been nice to have a few basics, such as water Tea, coffee, shower gel etc. Common areas of apartment area were quite dirty with litter not collected for a few days, it also seemend that homeless people were sleeping rough in the common areas. Overall good value adn would consider again as the lcoation was perfect.

• Peter (2/5): Scam - This is advertised as a four star hotel. Instead, i received a tedious 8 page online form to fill before arrival along with an online credit card relaese form. Pending filling this i received a two page e-mail explaining the very complex way of how to get into the property, as there is no reception in the building. You enter one code at the main gate, climb all the floors through a dark, dodgy stairway with all your luggage, as elevator does not work, find some little box on the wall with the key in it, have to enter another code into this box in the pitch dark. Whole process with local knowlwdge, live internet and telephone connection to consult representative took at least 50-60 minutes. I have no idea how a stranger to town would after a long flight could manage this. Cleaning very superficial, not professional hotel level, bedding OK. Location perfect.

It was non smoking room but the moment we checked in the room there was a smell as if someone recently smoked. It was hot and air conditioning was also not there. Make the check in unfavourable.

Building appears to be constructed during Soviet rule with external steel girders framing the building. Internet info was wrong and finally got it corrected. The apt itself was neat and clean and updated.

You can cook in the loft (we did not), the aircon works excellent in the masterbedroom and less so in the large space. Budapest is a bit brutal city, too dusty/dirty, too fast, too many homeless people, but definitely worth seeing.

• Ry (8/5): - Everything was fine. Just didn’t like the fact that you need a key to enter room corridor, then need a key to lock it, then key again to open room, and again to lock it. Need to use key 4 times to get into room and same to leave.
• Verified traveler (2/5): AVOID!!! - The place tries to sell itself as some hip, stylish hotel... Reality could not be further from that. I rented a Superior Loft (so not even a basic one) - and it was dirty, furnitures and other items are old and worn. The bathroom smelled extremly bad and there was no hot water, wifi and tv at some point of my stay. Not to mention that their way of "collecting a deposit" is to make a note of your full(!) card details in a file - which is besides being totally unsafe, also against a lot of data protection regulations. But for them it is just standard practice... On top that, the staff is rude when you are trying to ask such basic thing as hot water... There are amazing places in Budapest, for the same or even lower price, so do not bother staying here and ruin your holiday with them...

• Verified traveler (8/5): An interesting place with details to improve - Nice and quite place and well located. A bit expensive due to around 40% tax and fees for the first 2 nights and around 25% thereafter. No cleaning services during my 4-night stay (except for One time change of towels and bed linen at my request). The place was well cleaned, only on the surface . Lots of channels on the TV, with a complicated system to work it out. No phone connection to the reception. Coffee machine was easy to use, but after the 2 capsules provided, couldn’t find similars in the shops.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - The Loft Astoria was in such a great location. The apartment was clean and tidy and it was a real treat to receive a bottle of wine on arrival. The only issue I have is that our front door was glass and anyone could see in to the living room area. Not all front doors are glass. I would suggest either replacing it or at least hanging a curtain that can be drawn across. Also there were no shelves or hooks in the bathroom so nowhere to hang towels or pop belongings. Apart from those two suggestions I would recommend the Loft Astoria as a wonderful place to stay when you visit Budapest.

Our apartment was super cool, had all the features we needed and was extremely clean and comfortable. One bedroom, kitchen area and common space with pull out bed that was remarkably comfortable. Very nice bathroom/shower. The location is excellent in the city center and public transportation is steps away. Nice and knowledgeable staff - the service is no-frills but this isn’t a bad thing! I have stayed in very expensive, fancy high service hotels but much prefer the freedom, privacy and home-like experience an apartment offers. This one absolutely fit the bill. Would 100% stay again if I have the good fortune to visit again.

Cons Acute persistent sewerage smell in bathroom. despite repeated complaints the cause of the issue wasn’t fixed .. two tries were made by cleaning staff but it didn’t fix the issue. The smell made bathroom unusable and we had to use kitchen sink to wash our faces and shave. No room change or any compensation offered despite the deteriorating and inhabitable condition. This was the worst stay of our vacation of over two weeks. I wouldn’t recommend the room at the property.

However, Hotels.com was misleading: The posted pictures of the room we supposedly reserved had a window overlooking the street and the room looked quite spacious. Couldn't have been further than the truth.
• Rasha (8/5): Loved. Would definitely go back - I absolutely loved this place! Literally when I move to Europe next year this us the exact type of property I would want as a Single retired woman. The ONLY setback to this particular unit was the sewage smell from the bathroom shower. It was rank. I only stayed 3 days so I didnt make a huge fuss however, I kept my flip flops on in the shower simply because it smelled foul. OTHERWISE ADORABLE!! You cant really fault a property for horrible neighbors but Budapest is a city that's ALIVE at 2am so loud residents come with the environment. It is totally convenient from the airport ...literally one bus. 45 mins. Right at the front door!

• Amal (2/5): Uncomfortable - I was surprised of the loft as it wasn’t as described on your website at all! the AC wasn’t working at all and the outside weather is extremely hot, and when we went to speak to the reception they were rude, after convincing them to at least check the conditioning they did the day after but didn’t fix it!! saying it is working just fine!! I don’t understand how come it is written in here under “comfort”: AC. and during my 3 day stay me and my family never experienced “comfort”! Also on our second night we couldn’t sleep at night from all the noise our neighbors were making! very loud and drunk we stayed up as we couldn’t sleep from the heat and noise! definitely one of the worst experiences.

The space is amazing, checking was easy and the location can’t be beat. On the 100E bus line from the airport and near multiple bus/metro stations. I will definitely stay here again.

• Sabina (8/5): Nice convenient apartment - Very spacious apartment. Surprisingly quiet for being on a very busy street. Big gorgeous view windows out the front with automatic roll down blinds. We were not planning on cooking but you would have difficulty doing so as there are not many pots/pans/bowls etc. Very quirky, cool decor. Very easy to get around to everything walking, which we did, to the palace, parliament, and St. Stephens cathedral. Even easier if you take the metro etc. Check in was easy and pleasant.

I loved the privacy. The hotel is walking distance to nearly all attractions and centrally located near restaurants and grocery stores as well as the airport shuttle. Would definitely recommend!

Location is in the heart of the city where right accross is the hop on & off bus stop. Private parkings at the back road of the apartment in close distance for 6500 FT.

The amenities were very nice and we had everything we needed to cook our own meals even. The one critique we could give is to install some curtains. Our apartment had no curtains and not only could we fully see inside from the street. It also meant it was a bit noisy at night when police and ambulances occasionally went past.

• Elisha (6/5): Good for a tourist, but you get what you pay for - Stayed here for 4 nights on vacation as a tourist. I would only give it points because it was clean and centrally located. But their office hours make no sense for a tourist, who leaves early and comes back late. They forgot to bring us new towels after taking the old ones, and we couldn't call beacuse they were not in the office when we were there. If you don't get a view to the main Street, you can't really breathe since there's no air from the inside courtyard. Don't get me wrong, it's a great option for what it is, but you get what you pay for.

• Iain (4/5): - The furnishings were lovely: new IKEA. However: the underfloor heating was excessive and the aircon worked only for the fan. I was told that the heating had a fault and a handyman would be called. No difference, so I was moved to another room, which was cool. But the new room immediately became hot; the handyman was called again (they said) and again there was no difference. I used a medical thermometer to show that the temperature on the bed in the morning was 33.29C - even after having the fan on all night and the window open. Opening the window was not generally advisable for my rooms, since "city view" meant looking onto a major intersection and right onto a tram stop, with noise from traffic and from police and other services using sirens day and night. I was waking up debilitated every morning and lost a lot of sightseeing time. One story was that the underfloor heating could not be operated independently for each room - but how was my second room cool when I first entered? Another story was that the aircon had to be turned off at the beginning of autumn - but it was going full blast in the central atrium. The equipment varied between rooms; the first room had a microwave and a washing machine, while the second had neither. The TVs were cheap and in my first first room the sound was impossibly tinny. None of the equipment had a manual, at least in English. The staff were pleasant and spoke at least adequate English. I suspect poor management.

• Brian (4/5): - First and foremost, the quality of the bed is the most important item in a hotel room. As nice as this apartment was the bed was definitely lacking in quality and comfort. The springs could be felt through the mattress and the center of the bed was worn more than the sides as we sank into the center of the bed. We woke with sore backs and desperately in need of a massage. Additionally, I spoke with the staff about the need for additional toilet paper before we headed out around noon. When we returned at 2300hrs. I had to go down to the McDonalds and steal toilet paper from the bathroom because the staff did not resupply the room as requested.
• Verified traveler (4/5): - We rented two units. My family of 3 stayed in 1.3 while my 2 friends stayed in 1.1 unit. Except for the extra high closet which only giants (not exaggerating) could hang their clothes in the hanger rack, unit 1.3 is clean, beautifully designed and well-equipped. We were highly satisfied. As for unit 1.1? If you were given the key to this unit, avoid it at all cost. (1) As soon as you enter, cleaning materials will welcome you right away. Why? Because the broom closet, which is located right next to the entrance, has no door. So the cleaning supplies are the first ones you will see as you enter or leave the unit. (2) Just like unit 1.3, unit 1.1 has a huge glass window panel. BUT unit 1.1 has no curtains or blinds, so there’s nothing to protect you from the public seeing your every move! I told the guy at the front desk, but he simply said that just the way the unit was designed and did not offer any other conciliatory comment. Basically, he didn’t care. (3) The dining table and chairs were too high and uncomfortable to use. We felt like small children sitting in an adult-size furnitures. Same goes for the high kitchen countertops. It was not comfortable at all. (4) If the dining chairs and countertops were made for very tall people, it seems the loft bed was designed for very short ones. My friend is about 160 cm tall but he still hit his head twice on the protruding part of the ceiling.

• Katherine (10/5): Hidden gem - can’t recommend highly enough! - Super convenient location steps from the express bus drop off from the airport and easily walkable to all Budapest highlights (literally around the corner from the hip Jewish district - very convenient without the noise!) Very quiet and clean. The hotel room was phenomenal- very spacious and fully equipped, which would be perfect if you want to cook a meal in (although worth noting no hair dryer!) super modern decor and lovely staff! Easy self-checkin if you arrive late too. Can’t recommend this hotel highly enough!
• Laurie (10/5): Modern & centrally located apartment! - 24-hour check-in option is incredibly convenient. We received one key using a code that was emailed to us, and were able to pick up a second key from reception once it opened in the morning. The photos on the web site are accurate. The building is secured with a keypad code. Our apartment was spacious, clean, and is new with modern decor and high ceilings. Plenty of space to store luggage/hang up clothes. It was nice having a kitchen so we could eat in for some meals. The water pressure and temperature in the shower was excellent! My friend & I agreed that the bed was really comfortable. The location is very central to nightlife, public transportation, and sights, yet a few blocks away from the noisy bars. Perfect. As a woman I felt very safe walking around at night, as the streets surrounding the apartment were always filled with pedestrians. There are at least two vegan restaurants within 3 blocks which was great for me! There is no laundry in the unit, but I walked about a half mile to a self-service laundry named Bubbles that was clean and efficient. A great option when on a long trip! The only negative thing I have to say about the apartment is that they are a bit stingy with the bath towels. We had to reuse the same towels a couple days in a row. We were busy and did not attempt to request additional ones though, so if this is a deal-breaker I suggest messaging the hotel ahead of time to ask about it. We had a great stay! I hope to return to Budapest and stay again!
