Guest Reviews
- Explore54295378724 (10/5): Great price and delicious breakfast! - Holga's breakfast is delicious! I loved the location because it is perfect for Lobster Fest! The nightly rate for this hotel is very good.
- Asha (10/5): - Very good
- MICHAEL (10/5): - It had a small pool very nice when it's hot!
- Tyler (10/5): - No complaints are is right in town so loved that near to literally anything
- Christopher (10/5): - Nothing fancy, just a nice, really clean little private rooms around a small courtyard and small pool, in a little Mom and Pop hotel. Its really an excellent location near the fishing charter boats, along the Bay side and you can walk to everything including the airport in under 5 minutes. Ocean front rooms in this town are extremely over rated and expensive trust me on this, even if you don't mind smelling seaweed. Not a problem here and you still have plenty of breeze, especially on the second floor rooms. The owner is on site, a wonderful and very interesting fellow if you engage him, i found him quite pleasant and humble. Turns out they have an excellent breakfast and lunch restaurant right on property. I should have just had breakfast there every day honestly, but I wanted to try a few places. There's several excellent dining choices within 5 minutes walking distance. Fishing and diving snorkeling, all within 5 minutes walking, no cart needed but the bicycles with basket provided by the hotel were greatly appreciated for my longer excursions. Large grocery store is one block away also. The AC worked great, as did the mini fridge. No TVs and that's fine with me. An ice machine at the hotel was not found but i didn't ask. At this price point, i was actually extremely impressed, if you are hostel kinda travelers, pay the extra few bucks on this place and live it up some, if you want room service and HBO and your hair done not your place.
- Anouar (10/5): - Miguel (owner) offered me free bike to ride around town & let me check-in 4 hours early. Thanks dude!
- Monique (8/5): - Our stay was great.
- Craig (10/5): - Great stay
- Francesca (10/5): - Great hotel and Miguel is wonderful with helping and providing tips for visiting the area. He also has a connection with a golf cart company that gives a special rate to the guests.
- FRIDA (10/5): - It was very well located just few steps from the boat terminal and with cart for rent every where , my friend and I had big spider bites all over our backs but I guess is a beach common situation on houses there ….
- Steve (10/5): - Great location near the beach, restaurants , and pubs, A five minute walk from the San Pedro Sprinter Ferry station so you can avoid needing a taxi.
- Kim (10/5): - Miguel and his staff were very accommodating. Our only less than perfect aspect were the beds. Not the most comfortable. We would luv to always stay there when returning to SanPedro as long as we could figure out something more comfortable for our sleep.
- Todd (8/5): - Good location for the price. It is definitely a basic room, but the pool deck and view is amazing. Super nice staff.
- Cody (6/5): - Easy golf cart parking, food included via restaurant, didn't eat though,
- Giorella (10/5): - Confortable spacious room and private bathroom. The owners were in the grounds and always happy to help. The garden and pool area are great to watch the sun go down. There is a restaurant at the hotel that serves breakfast and lunch that is very convenient.
- Nikki (10/5): Highly recommend this great little hotel. - I stayed here for 5 nights at the end of my travels around Belize. I had a basic room which was very clean and comfortable. It even has aircon. I stayed here last year too so went back for a second visit. The pool is small but very clean and in good condition, the water is a perfect temperature, not too chilly. All the staff are friendly. The breakfasts are excellent, i didnt try lunch. The roof of the main block of rooms is the perfect place to watch the sun go down over the lagoon. The tree in the garden attracts lots of different birds which is great if you like a bit of nature. Lots of good places to eat and drink in the streets around the hotel so close to everything - except the new water taxi dock! They've moved it further south so i paid and extortionate taxi to take me to the hotel when i arrived. Only a 5 minute walk from the International boat terminal if you are coming or going to Chetumal in Mexico.
- Sela (8/5): - It was a little hard to find. The owner/staff was super helpful and available. Many travelers stay here and they will also help you along the way.
I traveled by myself so this place was the perfect size for me. It’s as simple as it gets with just one room and a restroom w/shower. It’s not fancy, but you get to enjoy a beautiful view when you walk out!
- aaron (8/5): - Walkable location to everything in San Pedro.
- Meldreth24 (6/5): Great location but quite run down - To start with the good points. Mike and his staff are great, very friendly and helpful. The
Location is superb, literally 4 minute walk from the Caribbean sprinter ferry. The pool was spotless. However the negatives are that this place is fairly run down and we had one of the better rooms apparently! The paint was pealing from the ceilings, the lighting in the bedroom poor and worst of all the mattress was terrible, we both had terrible nights sleep. We don’t think it would cost a lot to bring this place up a notch. Because of its poor state we would find it hard to recommend others to stay here.
- Lyndsey (10/5): - We only stayed one night at Ambergris Sunset Hotel but were pleased by the size of the room and spaces to hang clothes and store personal items, plus a mini fridge! Very clean room, comfortable bed, and quiet, walkable location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Really good location in downtown San Pedro!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very friendly, great location - Everything was fantastic, except there was no hot water coming out of the kitchen sink or the bathroom sink, and the beds were very uncomfortable. We could feel each spring under our backs. Owner was very friendly and gave us nice recommendations.
- Nicole (10/5): - Nice staff great price
- L2805CDjonathanc (10/5): Great , clean, safe no-frills hotel. - I stayed here for a short business trip. This was the perfect hotel for me. The room was clean, the AC worked perfectly, and I felt safe there. Everything was pretty no-frills, but I just needed a clean, safe, and cool room for the night. It was in the downtown area not too far from the airport. The property manager (owner?) was very friendly and available to help. The breakfast was good.
There is no TV, phone, or room service, but one pays more for all these amenities! I would definately stay here again.
- Jeremy (10/5): - The hotel owner is friendly and helpful. The AC keeps the rooms nice and cool, and the rooftop patio (if you’re brave enough to climb the stairs) offers a great spot to watch the sunset.
- Jonathan (10/5): - This property was perfect for my stay on San Pedro Island. √ The room was clean and secure.
√ The bathroom was clean and modern.
√ There was plenty of hot water in the large shower.
√ The shower's water pressure was great.
√ There were plenty of safe electrical outlets (I am a photographer/videographer and have 6 different types of batteries/devices that need to be charged)
√ The air conditioner was easy to control and worked perfectly,
√ All the staff were friendly and accommodating.
√ The pool was small but well-maintained.
√ The breakfast was great.
While the room and furnishings were simple, the room was perfect for my purposes--I just needed a quiet, safe, clean place to spend the night (and charge my batteries/devices); I really didn't care about an ocean view or a spa.
I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to those looking for a very inexpensive and modest hotel.
- Daviyion (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay here and the owner Miguel, who was very friendly and kind. The place was in a good location, but I have plenty of food options nearby and places to park your golf cart, including spots right within the gates of the property. I enjoyed having access to swim right there from outside my room at the pool, that's in the courtyard. Definitely a nice touch if you don't feel like hitting the beach, but wanna be in the water. There's a restaurant also attached to the hotel which I did not get a chance to try, but I did look up some of their reviews and they seem pretty good too.
The room itself was nice, the AC worked well, and though the Internet was spotty at certain times and didn't reach into the bathroom (for my room at least), it got the job done.
- lily (10/5): - N/a
- Joseph (10/5): once again - Always a great place to stay, (1) day or (2) weeks. Mike & his family are awesome people
- toothfaerieuk (10/5): Ambergris sunset hotel - I had the best time ever, all the folks were very friendly and helpful.
I felt safe the whole time I was there.
The hotel had a warm welcome for me from Miguel the owner, he was very friendly and helpful, I loved the birds in the trees in the morning and I miss being there already and hope to return soon.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nice owners, nice outdoor area, unfortunate room - The outdoor are is really charming and the owners are very nice. I hate to write this review because of that, but I wish I had known what the room was REALLY like before booking. I’m all for spartan accommodations - I stay in hostels and budget hotels all the time. But there is a difference between basic/dated, and just plain gross. The room was dirty, the shower drain stank, there was mold or mildew in the bathroom, and the wall the bed was against was filthy, like hundreds of people had been putting their dirty feet on it. We stayed one night and slept as far from the dirty wall as possible.
Additionally, the room was extremely dark, the mattresses were well past their expiration date, and the window was busted, so you could heard in and out of the room so we didn’t even feel like we had any privacy. The cost was absurd for this kind of cleanliness and wear and tear, especially when you can get clean basic accommodations for about the same price all around. I am so glad it was just a one night experience.

- Jennan (6/5): - Clean and close to a lot of restaurants and things to do on the island. Staff was nice as well. The rooms are very small and rustic
- Caroline (10/5): Lovely stay!!! - The accommodation was too the back of the town which only has 3 streets, so quiet nights. The host was very helpful and informative and always on site. Amazing views of the lake and sunset. But best of all it has a pool that we didn't think we wanted but coming back from snorkeling and diving it was really nice to relax in.
- KYLE (10/5): - This property was such a cozy spot with a convenient diner and walkable shopping/food/drink options.
- Tianjian (8/5): - 酒店条件还行,房间内设施有点少,服务还是不错的。
- Katherine (10/5): - Excellent hotel in a great location. Very friendly staff, and many dining options nearby. Walking distance from water taxis. Highly recommend!
- Nancy (6/5): - Nice vibes, convenience to everything, the facility is not what I expected compared to the pictures online. The staff was awseome!
- Holly (10/5): Great staff and location! - The staff is wonderful, and the location is perfect! The room was adequate but thats all we needed to shower and sleep in 😃 The pool was clean and well maintained. I would recommend for a few nights!
- Clementino (8/5): - it was okay, the only thing is that there is not tv in the room.
- Beat (10/5): - It's been my second time at this hotel and felt welcome each time. The new breakfast/lunch restaurant with a handfull of drinks available upgrades this cozy, family run hotel unique and loveable. Staff and owner very helpful and accommodating.
- Alesha (10/5): - This place was just perfect for me. Walkable, safe, convenient and budget friendly. The staff was very nice and they had an amazing breakfast. Definitely will be back.
- Jennifer (10/5): - I loved this little hotel! Watch the sunset every night. Great breakfast! Get a bucket of Belikin and chill in the pool after a long day of walking. Go to Caliente’s across the street and enjoy the best shrimp curry you ever had in your life while the steel drummer plays. Just wonderful!
- Serita (10/5): - Very friendly staff and location.
- John (10/5): - The owner of the property is awesome - he'll make sure your stay is perfect at this hotel.
- Michael (10/5): - Quiet area within walking distance of everything downtown
- Celine (10/5): - Mike was very helpful. The sunset views from the rooftop are amazing!
- Sadie (10/5): - overall nice quiet, comfortable lodging food great hotel services housekeeping great family owned and managed .highly recommend for families ,couples, travelers .tourist ,business ,from big resorts back backers all travelers its family hotel all welcome everyone,
- MIA MARIE (10/5): - The hotel was run by the most gracious and personable owner. He made us feel right at home! The hotel (newer rooms) are quaint, clean and located within walking distance to everything. The deck is a great space to sit and relax or watch the sun go down. The hotel is right across the street from Caliente restaurant, which has nightly live music that you can hear right from the pool. It was a wonderful stay. We will definitely be back.
- Megha (8/5): Mike is great! - It was a comfort stay and you get what you pay for. The best part was that Mike stays in the property and is available for any issues and conversations. He humbly dropped us to the water taxi in his golf cart as well. The property can definitely be upgraded with renovations and modern amenities but for the price and location if you are looking to not burn a hole and have a short stay, it works. Can just walk around from here in the hustle of San Pedro.
- Ian (6/5): A bit dated - The staff is lovely, and the location is good, but the rooms are a bit updated. Specifically the faucets in the sink and shower and the toilet handle really need to be cleaned up.
- Yoshio (6/5): - like - near beach - cheap
dislike - vehicle traffic nearby
- Vonda (6/5): - Mattresses felt like they were from 1970’s bunk beds-every spring and seam hurt. Who knew that spring mattresses still exist? Shower still had an opened/empty shampoo container on the floor and a tarantula-sized hairball in the shower drain when we arrived, so raised the question regarding cleanliness. No safe in Room. 2 plug ins in room, tv/router/fridge plugged into extension cord and hanging off cords. Very centrally located and not a bad place to sleep for the one night we stayed, but any longer would be a hard no. The restaurant staff and Mike were amazing.
- R. Andrew (8/5): - It is what it is. Very basic and extremely convenient & affordable. Cool place.
- D (10/5): - The property owner is mike and he runs the property with his lovely wife and daughter. You can tell they care about their property and guests as i was making too much noise at the pool one night and he kindly provided better options for us to be loud on the property without disturbing the other guests. Thanks Mike.
- Daniel (10/5): - Very centrally located. Just off the main roads enough that you do not hear the constant rumbling of golf carts. Lagoon side of ocean is right across street.
- Jennifer (8/5): - All in all a great stay here. Convenient location, beautiful pool and courtyard, simple clean rooms with AC and a small fridge, at a good price. Will be staying here again next time I'm in San Pedro.
Only con was internet was a little slow and patchy
- jan (10/5): - Small friendly place.
Really good restaurant on site.
Owners were friendly and helpful.
Place was clean and right on the lagoon
Nice sunset views.
We caught fish and they they cooked it for us.
Really good@
- L6613HQtomr (10/5): Nice place away for the Chaos of downtown - We had a great stay at this hotel. The staff was so nice, friendly and helpful. It was a relief to get back to our hotel at night where it was quiet - away from the downtown chaos. Great location - easy walk to many great restaurants, coffee, transportation and activities. We would recommend this hotel. Great value for the price.
- Katie (8/5): - Loved our group stay here at Ambergris Sunset! Owner was friendly, kind, understanding, and helpful. Location was super convenient and easy. Some minor problems such as a toilet leak/flood, but overall am satisfied with our stay
- Robin (10/5): - Mike is a great host, full of recommendations. The restaurant on site had great food and very reasonable. We loved sitting by the pool to cool off and relax.
- hilda (8/5): - For the price we paid everyhting was great. The host is very friendly and helpful. My kids loved the little pool, every evening afeter the beach they would soak in the pool again. We only foudn the beds a bit uncomfortable though.
- Chancey (10/5): Best Bang for Buck in San Pedro! - Excellent Value Stay! We will be coming back here again thats a promise. Super Friendly Staff and very affordable. They helped us arrange transportation and were spot on with the best restaurants to go to. This place is in a great location with a Grocery Store 1 block away and 1 of our favorite Restaurants right across the street.
- Alisha (10/5): - We stayed here for ten days during July/Lobster Fest. It is convenient to all things, has a pool, restaurant & bar, and on the back street away from the noise. There is easy, safe parking for golf carts. The owner and staff are super friendly. It is a great, **budget-friendly** accommodation!
- TREVOR (10/5): - Reasonable place to stay , safe spot and great owner
- Lee (8/5): - Property was exactly as advertised. Good stay!
- Derek (10/5): - It was in the heart of San Pedro. We didn't even need a golf cart and walked the area several times. Lots of eating options on the property and around the hotel. Loved the dog on property - She was very mellow and loveable. The custom service was excellent. What we didn't like - Wished they provided more towels and the A/C took a little time to cool off the room.
- Joseph (8/5): - I liked the decorations and the nice little swimming pool.
- Maurice (10/5): - Family operated, mom cooks wonderful, daughter runs the service, dad smiles a lot, all a delight. Home feel to stay, very friendly and relaxed. Basic accommodations but very clean, everything one needs, close to older part of town. Come here to enjoy the friendly side of Belize.
- 360raymondw (10/5): San Pedro stay - Clean, clean, clean. Family run, breakfast/lunch on site, bar, quiet, , good AC, nice pool area, roof top patio for star gazing, accommodating, friendly, good location for food, ... Would stay again.
- Alexander (8/5): - It was great with some errors to the room like the toilet
- Mesker (6/5): - overall a good property, rooms a bit dated, walking distance to everything
- geneoV (8/5): Very Good - I stayed here in an economy room, it was adequate, bed is okay but not really comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The hotel is well located most places are within walking distance. The area is generally quiet.
- Eugene (8/5): - Nice property with food service and assistance to book tours. I stayed in an economy room and it was priced right. The room was clean, air conditioned and hot water. The staff are friendly polite and helpful. The food was excellent. It g has a small pool which is quite refreshing.
- JOSEPH (10/5): - Property was a great value, I would stay there again.
- Dane (10/5): - The staff was great. The accommodations were very clean. It was a very basic room which was just what I needed for the night we stayed there. The pool was nice and clean. I will probably stay there again.
- Tiffany (8/5): - There are no frills to this property, but you absolutely can’t beat the location. It’s city center but on the back side where there is little traffic. Lots of great dining options all around. The rooms were very basic but all you need if you’re out exploring all day. Recommend particularly for a short stay like ours in Ambergris.
- Srephen (10/5): Excellent location and wonderful hotel - this was one of the nicest places to stay and the rates were very reasonable. the rooms are very nice, theres a pool and place to park your gold cart, a restaurant on the premises and one right across the street, theres a deck on the third floor to watch the sunset, it looks out over a bunch of boats docked an its in the middle of town, within walking distance to most everything u would need
- Jennifer (10/5): - Stayed here for three nights in April 2023. If you get a golf cart, you will have parking on the property. If you dont get a golf cart, you will still have no problem seeing a lot of San Pedro as this place is very close to the downtown area including the airport and the ferry terminal. Lots of dining options and shopping are very close by in walking distance. The room was clean and the a/c works very well. I wish they give you more pillows tho. The pool is small but clean. The view on the top deck at sunset is breathtaking. Great price. I would recommend this place !
- David (10/5): - Good budget option in San Pedro. Quiet, clean, small fridge is a godsend. Small pool and deck with shaded seating is a nice place to spend an hour or two each day. Short walk to all key amenities.
- Isabelle_Jos (10/5): We loved it! - We stayed at this hotel for over two weeks and loved it. Mike the owner is always present whether it’s to answer a need or to help us in our research of service like the rent of a golf cart or the choice of a diving center.
The place is simple but well maintained. Whether it's the outdoor site (really nice to relax at the end of the day), the pool (small but always clean and maintained) or the rooms (small and very simple, with mini-refrigerator and air conditioning and that are cleaned daily) All this at a very low price. What more could you ask for? Moreover, the family restaurant offering breakfast and lunch is excellent and at a very fair price too.
So if you are looking for a quiet place, with a beautiful view of the lagoon and the sunset, while being within walking distance of the center of San Pedro (plenty of restaurants, market, activities, public beach, harbor and diving centers) this is really the place to be. I highly recommend it.
- Chris (10/5): - It was wonderful and perfect...nothing negative about the place at all! Mike was a wonderful host! If possible will come back.
- Brandon (2/5): AVOID - Do not be tempted by the low price. I should of listened to the old adage, “You get what you pay for.” There was no water pressure in the shower and no warm water at all. The shower head dribbled out water. The floor creaked as it was about to cave in. The AC ran all night and was very loud and would spray dust into the room. Mike the owner was a very nice man but has not put any focus into maintaining his rooms.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Our stay couldn't have possibly been better! Mike helped us out with everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The cats were great too. Thanks kiwi and cherry!
- ED (10/5): Location location location. 👍👍 - Clean basic accommodations great location
- lorenzag918 (10/5): Kindness at its best - It may not be a luxury hotel, of course, the price reflect that. However, it has what is needed if you are.lookimg for basic accomodations in a convenient location. Right in town, overlooking the lagoon, tiny economy rooms but larger triple rooms (i loved the two upstair ones). What makes this place awesome is the kindness and availability of the owner Miguel. He and his wife are truly helpful with anything you might need: recommendations, tours, advice, even a ride when it's pouring and he thinks the free bikes are not appropriate for the weather! Thank you Miguel, we see the love with which you manage your hotel, and certainly appreciate your calm, helpful manners. Highlight of the stay: rooftop sunset time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Would not hesitate to stay again. - Our stay here was really great. The rooftop patio was an excellent place to watch the sunset and we really enjoyed meeting other travelers.
- Robert (6/5): Soso - Run down facilities no hot water
Good location nice people small bed
Barking dogs early… not their fault
- Bridget (10/5): - Miguel, the proprietor, was amazing!! He helped us with everything we wanted to do and was so friendly. They have a great little cafe for breakfast and lunch, and the pool area was quaint and comfortable.
The rooms are not fancy, but for the cost, we got used to it. They are very clean and have AC and a little fridge.
- Albert (8/5): - It was very reasonable, walking distance to many shops and beach area.
- teresa-ratcliff (8/5): Friendly spotless, with a beautiful sunset view - Mike and the rest of the crew were super nice. Very accommodating. The room itself was very basic. We pride ourselves on being minimalists and this fit the bill. The bed was a little uncomfortable, but the place was spotlessly clean. And the pool was refreshing. By that, I mean, very cold! The third floor balcony overlooking the Bay is phenomenal. You can see some crazy beautiful sunsets from there.
- christine (6/5): - The room was adequate for our needs-sleeping and showering. The floor is in desperate need of replacing. The owner and staff are kind, helpful and friendly.
- Ronald (10/5): - Beautiful garden, great watching the birds eat the berries from it, clean room, small fridge, quiet air conditioner, great roof top to watch the sunset but be careful on the stairs up, very friendly and informative owner, good breakfasts and coffee, unfortunately a very squeaky bed.
- 12allixd (2/5): Run, don’t walk, from this place! - Calling this place a hotel is wildly generous. My husband is, shall we say, frugal, and wanted to balance our time in Belize with a more affordable option before we went to stay at Ramon’s. This place is in a sketchy area, the floors are torn up, the fixtures are corroded, the walls are dirty and cracked, the mattress is more uncomfortable than the floor because of the springs stabbing your back, the linens are full of holes, and the A/C doesn’t work. On top of all that, the door frame had a huge crack in it implying someone had tried to force it with a crowbar. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights, arrived late in the evening on the first night, and immediately knew we would not be staying any longer than that night. I got a last minute booking for the two remaining nights the following morning. I booked through hotels.com for both this location and the replacement, and tried to work with their customer service to get a refund. By the time the agent was done working with me, it was 10:45am. When I said we wouldn’t be ready to leave the room by 11am, the owner had the nerve to say he would only refund the third night. Run, don’t walk, from this place. It has no business being listed as available when it isn’t habitable.
- Cindy (8/5): - Check in was very easy. We were accommodated quickly. There’s a small kitchen/restaurant on the property, very convenient. Everyone was nice and helpful for anything we needed. It located on the lagoon side but walking distance to the beach side- 5-10mins
- George (10/5): - A really lovely place which now has its own restaurant. The owner and his family are very helpful. Walking distance from San Pedro Express ferries.⚓️
- william (8/5): - Nice inexpensive location near center of town. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nothing fancy, but a good economical location and place to sleep for the price. Would stay there again.

- George (10/5): - This is a really lovely place with a great owner ( Mike). It’s close to a supermarket and there’s a great restaurant across the street. There is a small pool and rooftop chill area. Highly recommended .
