• Borin (10/5): Ringrazio la signora che ci ha accolti, molto gentile a spiegarci i posti migliori del luogo per mangiare o per spostarc - La struttura, per chi ama un posto caratteristico americano è bellissimo! Le porte di legno antico, il camino stile XX secolo, porte originali di legno massiccio, vasca stile inglese, water con bidet incorporato, parquet in legno…! Tutto bellissimo. Mi è piaciuto il posto, molto tranquillo per chi viene a New York e ovviamente passa tutta la giornata in centro. Qui è molto tranquillo, silenzioso e se serve qualcosa, fuori dalla struttura si trova sempre di tutto! Colazione, supermercati e negozi.

• Hendrika (4/5): Ik zou hier niet nog eens heen gaan - Het is een heel mooi historisch pand met mooie antieke accenten, overdadig versierde kamers. Super luxe toilet. Doordat het gebouw oud is, voelen de vloeren en trappen heel onveilig aan, of je er elk moment doorheen kunt zakken. De leuningen zijn ook erg onveilig en zitten op sommige plekken los. De gastvrouw eist dat je bij de voordeur je schoenen uittrekt en achterlaat, wat ik niet heel gastvrij vind. De badkamer is erg klein en het duurt meer dan vijf minuten voordat je warm water hebt.

• Jordi (9/5): Rustige uitvalsbasis voor een citytrip new york - Fijne locatie in de buurt van de metro. Goeie verbinding. Leuke buurt met genoeg te doen. Aardige host die je wat uit legt over de buurt. Persoonlijk ontvangst met extra info over de stad. Comfortabel bed en zeer hygienisch. Goede prijs/kwaliteit. Weg van de drukte. Eigenlijk viel niets tegen. Het enige waar je rekening mee moet houden is dat het een karakteristiek pand is. Kraakt het en der en je kunt eventueel mensen horen lopen. Maar dit weet je wanneer je de foto's ziet. En de douche was wat onhandig omdat het relatief krap is en het water niet goed weg liep. Mogelijk door de smalle leidingen.

It was easily located next to a subway to take you into downtown. I would definitely stay again if I am lucky enough to get to New York again The location is okay but the further you go into Harlem the sketchier it is. It was the only place that didn't feel fully safe especially at night

• Georgie (10/5): Homely and extremely comfortable- unforgettable stay - Super cosy and welcoming, felt very authentic and ‘lived in’, loads of character. SUPER comfy bed and sheets. Complimentary clothes wash once during the stay, room clean every 2 days. Kellyn was super welcoming and gave us some great recommendations of things to do and places to go. 5 mins walk to the subway, and you’re to Central Park in 10, Times Square in 15. Rooms are quite close together and the doors have slight gaps so just be mindful if you’re loud footed or getting up early etc!

"Free Parking" listed on booking.com is just on-street parking, which is kind of a pain (as expected in Manhattan). But it worked out okay.

The staff was very kind, and the decoration of the hotel is beautiful and welcoming. We were disappointed to find out that we were given the most basic room because the reservation was made through Booking, which did not feel fair. Also, at a certain time of the day there was no hot water, and we had to wait more than an hour for it to work again.

• Resat (9/5): The location for us was very handy, with the subway two blocks away from Harlem Grand. The bus stop was around the corne - The property and room was to an excellent standard. This was the most important part of any booking. When we first walking to the building it was very much what you see in the movies. The room was very impressive, with a large king size bed, sofa, smart tv, microwave, hair dryer, iron etc. we had a bath and although we didn’t actually get to use it, this was one of the points that drew me to Harlem Grand. Additionally, on the first day we had an incredibly interesting induction, by the land lady who was super helpful and pleasant which would help any new comers to New York, such as where the local shops, restaurants, public transport and the best way to get around. We found this very useful and guided us for the week we stayed there. The only point which I can mention was not having a kettle in the room. We ended up microwaving the water for coffee and tea, there is a local cafe around the corner if you want a hot drink. We managed very well. Otherwise, no issues at all.

• NATALIA (9/5): - Nos encantó la habitación su amplitid y comodidad y encarecidamente la comodidad de la cama, importantísimo para descansar después de días de tanto caminar. La ubicación diremos que es buena porque está muy cerca de la ĺínea A del metro que te conecta directamente con el aeropuerto JFK y con todo Manhattan, pero cierto es que está muy al norte de Manhattan y sur de Harlem, tambien bonita zona para conocer. La limpieza es excelente en toda la casa. Las escaleras son incómodas y más con maletas porque son de madera antiguas y altas, a tener en cuenta por personas con limitaciones físicas. El tener que sacarse los zapatos en la entrada y andar por la casa descalza, será porque no estamos acostumbrados a eso. El lavabo es muy pequeño, tanto la ducha como el inodoro y la pica, eso quizás es lo más relevante como negativo. Pero nada de ello resta lo positivo de la casa.

• Melisa Vera Chavez (10/5): Espectacular! Súper recomendable - La ubicación, que la habitación era hiper cómoda y la atención tanto de Kellyn como de Mariela de limpieza fueron excepcionales. Siempre obtuvimos asistencia para lo que necesitaramos y nos sentimos como en nuestra propia casa! Lo copado es poder tener nuestra propia privacidad, baño privado ( que eso en NY es complicado de conseguir porque casi todos los lugares son compartidos) y confort total. El Wifi era bastante lento y le costaba mucho en la habitación donde estábamos. También estaría bueno que aclaren en la publicación que las habitaciones del 2do piso no tienen acceso a la cocina compartida que está en el 3er piso. Eso ayudaría bastante a la organización. No mucho más.

Die Matratze vom Bett war an sich bequem, aber auf einer Seite etwas höher (insgesamt also leicht schräg) und circa 1,60m breit. Das Bad war an sich schön, aber doch sehr klein und eng und der Abfluss vom Waschbecken hat nicht gut funktioniert. Manchmal hat sich etwas Wasser angestaut bei langem Laufen lassen des Wasserhahns.

La chambre était très jolie, propre et confortable et décorée avec beaucoup de goût. Le personnel a été adorable du début à la fin, toujours disponible et attentionné. Hoe de treinen en de metro's lopen. Waar de supermarkten zaten en de eettentjes. Zo uitgebreid, daar hebben we de hele vakantie profijt van gehad. Daarnaast was de kamer heel huiselijk met prachtige antieke meubels. En om de dag schone handdoeken en een was service! Het douchen in bad was wat lastig ivm het rondlopen vh bad.

La camera era molto accogliente, pulita, profumata e con tutto il necessario. Una speciale nota per il letto, uno dei migliori in cui abbiamo mai dormito, dopo giornate intense di passaggiate era un sollievo il pensiero di dover tornare a dormire in un letto così confortevole. Kellyn hat uns gute Tipps zu Umgebung und Orientierung gegeben. Sehr nah an den wichtigen Linien A/C und D/B! Der benachbarte Morningside Park eignet sich toll zum Joggen oder Tennis spielen. Hinweis: Es kann ein bischen dauern, bis die Dusche warm wird: Aufdrehen und warten (ist halt ein altes Haus).

• Marc (10/5): - Nous avons passé un agréable séjour à Harlem Grand. La décoration de la chambre était tout simplement incroyable et l'ambiance des lieux était authentique. Le charme de l'époque a été préservé par la propriétaire Kellyn. L'accueil fut fort agréable et Kellyn est une hote disponible et de bon conseil. Le logement est calme et très bien situé dans le quartier d'Harlem (non loin de Central Park et de l'Université de Columbia). Station de metro et bus à proximité ainsi que des commodités contribuent à la qualité de la localisation du logement. La chambre est spacieuse, propre et la literie est très confortable (lit XXL). Une cuisine commune est mise à disposition des occupants ce qui permet d'avoir une certaine indépendance et autonomie dans les repas. Dans sa globalité le séjour à Harlem Grand fut parfait et si l'occasion venait à se présenter à nouveau nous y retournerons avec grand plaisir.
• Sheila (6/5): If you like feeling like you're at your strict grandma's, stay here. - The location was ok Kind of like staying at grandma's where you have to follow lots of rules. Like turning everything off when we leave the room. Including the AC, which is just ridiculous esp in Aug. And having to take shoes off once inside. And having the TV obstructed by furniture instead of mounting it or just getting a smaller TV. And the threat of being charged $150 if you make one mistake and forget "the rules"
• Michael (4/5): - Walk up Brownstone on quiet street in Harlem. We had the garden view room (view of the tops of the trees from 2 stories up). Good little kitchen shared by rooms on the top floor. Coffee percolator and coffee supplied. And toaster. Handy for Silvia's (beef rib with green beans & grits best dinner we had in NY) and Lincoln supermarket (nice sourdough and French Blackberry Jam to make toast in the morning). Only couple of stops to top of Central Park. 1st day made it to Tavern on the Green (bar snacks here with a couple of drinks is really fancy). 2nd day made it to Museum of Natural History. Harlem Grand but you dont see any of the house apart from the entrance and your room. No access to the garden or other parts of the house. Nice large room but not in great condition (curtain rods only held up by small screws into the plaster which has been patched. But you are told if you touch the curtains and the screws fall out then you will lose your damage bond. Shower has non existant water pressure. Bed has 3" foam on top of the mattress which is not comfortable and makes it really hard to turn over. $120 Resort Tax (for what) which is not mentioned when you make the booking. Even if you say that you have already been in NY for a couple of weeks you need to go through a 1hr induction from Kelen on how to get around NY. And you need to demonstate that you have listened to how to lock & unlock the front door (if it is not locked you will lose your damage bond). It was nice enough, but this was the most expensive place we stayed in NY and with a name like Harlem Grand we were expecting a bit more. It might have been a grand old Harlem Manor House but not that we saw.

• Elizabeth (10/5): Will stay here again! - Location was perfect for my plans, plus it was on a nice quiet street. The inn was beautiful, and my room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The owner was friendly and very helpful. Laundry service was a bonus!

• Stefan (10/5): charming and quirky - much better than the uniform drabness of chain hotels - This is a lovely place to stay - a beautiful old brownstone with original wood staircase and panelling ideally located for Columbia. Charming landlady Kellyn who provides a quirky and entertaining introductory lecture (compulsory) to the property and New York. This place is probably not for everyone - if you expect a traditional hotel there are some things that will bother you- 1. no coffee or tea in the room. I was advised to buy a cup of coffee from a deli the night before and then put it in the microwave. I like a fresh cup of coffee when I wake up - it would not be difficult to put basic coffee machines in the rooms- I hope they do that. 2. there was quite a bit of nagging about precise arrival and departure times, because there is no front desk and you get the feeling Kellyn values her convenience just as much as yours. She was completely charming, and I would probably come again because of the location and the quirkiness. but I do think she needs to find a way for people to arrive and depart on their own time (this only applied at the beginning and end- for the week you have a key and can come and go as you please).
• Bethany (10/5): 10/10 stay in Harlem! - First of all, the property is on a quiet tree lined street WITH FREE PARKING. That was a huge plus for us, and ultimately was the dealbreaker that made me choose this property over some others. Once we arrived, I was so thankful that I did! The owner met us at the door and gave us the keys as well as an overview of the house and the area. The personalized treatment was so refreshing! The inside of the property was beautiful. I especially appreciate how the owner has preserved the original ornate details of the home, while also incorporating some modern amenities. Original hardwoods, beautiful trim, a gorgeous clawfoot tub, and antique furnishings throughout, while also featuring WiFi, satellite tv, a mini fridge, microwave, and even a bidet! A little corner convenience store was a great spot to grab a snack or a soda. Several other restaurant options were within walking distance as well. Two minute walk to the train station that takes you right to Times Square. The only thing that could have enhanced our stay would have been a coffee/tea station. The room had a microwave and a mini fridge, but no coffee maker. A small beverage station with a mini keurig/small pot would be perfect- even if it were located in the parlor area instead of the room. Just a suggestion. :)
• Lisa (9/5): We loved our stay. Harlem Grand has comfortable, beautiful rooms and it's in a great neighborhood. - Harlem Grand is a beautiful brownstone on a perfectly located block in Harlem. The rooms are super clean and quite large. If you have trouble climbing stairs this is NOT the place for you. There are plenty of coffee shops nearby, but as someone who needs coffee as soon as I wake up it would have been nice to have coffee available in the room or somewhere downstairs.

• Nicole (10/5): I wouldn't stay anywhere else in New York. - The host was exceptional. On arrival she gave me a seated check in and explained the layout of the city and a full tour of the building and room. She was readily available and very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this stay.
• George (10/5): Cozy ensuite room in a quiet Harlem neighborhood - Quiet tree-lined street, close to restaurants, neighborhood stores, and Morningside park, with Columbia university on the other side of the park. Room was a nice size, amenities appropriate for the space, and I love a bidet toilet seat! You have to climb steps to the front door, but them you have to climb steps to get to Columbia..it isn't called "Morningside heights " for nothing!
• Scott (6/5): Pleasant - Good location to visit Columbia University. Decent price. Cluttered room- too much furniture. Antique couch broken springs. No hot pot/coffee in room or on site
• Carla (8/5): Charming hotel in Harlem - Little romantic & charming hotel in Harlem. The owner and the cleaning lady were super nice. The rooms are clean and spacious. Price was OK. There is a lot to discover in Harlem and we always felt safe. It takes some time with the car or the metro to get to Manhattan. It is an older house, you can hear the other guests very well.

• Scottie (9/5): Perfect stay for anyone familiar with NY who wants to bop around to - A very convenient location, close to the subway and food/drink/coffee options, walking distance from Morningside Park/Central Park, and even walkable to the Harlem YMCA. Staying in a brownstone was a special and unique experience. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and our room was very warm and cozy. Even though we weren’t the only people in the house, we felt like we were, and I appreciated the privacy. Nothing

• Haidee (10/5): Loved it - beautiful place, friendly neighbourhood - Harlem Grand is a beautiful old brownstone building with a very homely feel. I stayed in one of the top rooms with access to the kitchen. The room itself was beautiful, and it had a huge vvv comfy bed. Harlem Grand is on a quiet street so it’s very peaceful at night too. Having access to the kitchen was brilliant - it’s got everything you need. I absolutely loved the area as well. I’m from London where people never stop to chat to you and they did in this neighbourhood on a few separate occasions. There’s loads of shops and restaurants nearby too so you can pick up whatever you need. It’s super well connected - loads of trains run from the two nearby subway stations, so it’s easy to get wherever you want to go. A few recommendations: - If you’re a runner, I ran with Harlem Run one evening who are a really friendly and welcoming bunch of people. - Sottocasa is a local pizza place which I loved. - Walk to Central Park if you can. It’s not far and the northern part of the park is beautiful. Lastly, Kellyn and her team were lovely and welcoming. She gave me some great advice and tips during my stay, and the cleaner was very understanding when I was late to check out because I got stuck on a non-moving subway train.
• Ali (9/5): Superb - The room was nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable. The neighbourhood was good as long as you went in the right direction otherwise it was quite rough.
