The continental breakfast is underwhelming, but a separate breakfast menu is available at an additional cost. The made-to-order breakfast was yummy. Thanks for offering an alternative breakfast option.

No bars or restaurants open on Sunday. Rooftop bar busy but service a bit chaotic and when I tried to pay it took ages. Staff maybe inexperienced but do not come over quite as friendly as other hotels we’ve used.

- Smiley Weindel, Ph.D. (10/5): - Continental breakfast was included. We had muffins, yogurt, and coffee. Bathroom was beautiful and roomy. King size bedroom without balcony seemed a bit tight around the bed. The TV was mounted in far right corner above the bench. Seems as though TV should be centered from bed or more to the left which would allow one to actually sit on the wall mounted bench.

- Rebecca (8/5): Historic Hotel Next to Longwood University - Historic hotel with updated rooms right next to Longwood University The coffee shop in lobby is very expensive for what you are getting. On site restaurant is only open 5 days a week for only a few hours.

- Caroline (7/5): Nice room, but…. - Our room was attractive and well appointed with a nice big bathroom. The pillows were very thick and hard. Neither my husband nor I could use them. There was a very noisy nightclub called the Press Club nearby with loud music til 1:30 am. Guests should ask to be on the other side of the hotel.

- Helen (7/5): - Location is excellent! Beds were comfortable. Stayed here a few years ago in the new wing and loved it. Since then, this same wing has become prematurely shabby. The bathroom did not have a working fan, no hand soap, no hot water from the sink, only cold water with weak pressure. Requested more hangers since there were only 2 hangers for 2 closets for 2 guests. Although bedding, the bed linens were very wrinkled and uninviting. Overall housekeeping was uninspired and disappointing.

- Klisz (8/5): See above. - Stay was nice but I found it strange there was no one at the front desk when I arrived about 6pm. There was a sign saying the person would be back in ten minutes. This is prime check in time and I thought someone should be there. But when she returned, check in was easy! When I got to my room (6pm) there were two piles of linens in the hallway. The same piles were present when I left the following morning. See above.

- Ron (10/5): - I attempted to call and request some assistance to change rooms but wasn’t listened to. This is not the way I have been treated by anyone while paying over $400 for one night. Other than that the stay and the rest of the staff were outstanding. Parking lot is very tight but it was a busy weekend. A lot of cars in the lot were going to the bars and not guests of the hotel. Staff was excellent at finding a great place for us to park.

The AC was not working, trim was separated from the ceiling and there were stains on the floor and walls. The staff was very apologetic and got us a room in the newer section. However the new room felt dirty as well. It appears hotel had a nice remodel a couple of years ago but it hasn’t been maintained properly.

- Tanya (9/5): Historic charming hotel and staff! Perfect for a date night get away! - Lovely hotel and spacious room! Loved the robes in the bathroom. Friendly staff! Great coffee at Effinghams! Nice dinner at the at TAP room. Lovely ambiance- mood was romantic! We could not get sink water to run hot. AND the room was a bit warm - we could not get it to cool much. That is a bummer if you have hot flashes! That did not ruin our stay though! The hotel was just so lovely and walkable to furniture shops and High bridge trail!
- Dawniepb (9/5): My husband and I love the hotel overall. This is our second stay and will come back again. - The complimentary breakfast was ok. Coffee was good. I did try the carrot/raisin muffin. Only comment would be to make sure customers don't have a peanut allergy. I found out after my first bite that it had nuts in it. Also, I was surprised the muffin wasn't warmed I found out after my first bite that the muffin had nuts in it. Also, I was surprised the muffin wasn't warmed and there wasn't an offer of juice instead of coffee. Unless I missed it. We also missed the coffee, water and cookies in the lobby, that was available on our last stay. Maybe that was a special occasion....
