Guest Reviews
- T's Booking (10/5): Serenity at the Serendipity - David the host was exceptional. He made us feel at home. His house and garden were just beautiful. The four seasons room was wonderful to sit in and watch the birds in the morning and the thunderstorm at night. The library was a cozy place to sit and read your favorite book. The breakfasts cooked by the host were very tasty. David put his heart into the food. We loved our stay. We had no complaints at all.
- Denise (8/5): - Breakfast was fabulous and the location was perfect. It is in walking distance to all of the shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again. Our room had the bathroom facilities outside of the room. It was fine, but wish there was an on-suite bathroom for this room as well.
- Elyse (10/5): -
- DeBoer (10/5): - Loved staying in the cottage! It was so nice in there. The hot tub wasn’t working but we got a discount because of that so it all turned out okay.
- Pranjal (10/5): Serendipity b&b is now our favorite home away from home - We absolutely loved our stay here. David is a very thoughtful host and an exceptional cook! He gave us great recommendations on food, shops, and nature activities. We felt right at home as soon as we walked in. Already looking forward to coming back! Nothing — we loved everything!
- Betty (10/5): -
- Gail (6/5): Terrific host & location but the home is very challenging. - David is the host & very affable.
The residence was built in 1912 & has interesting period pieces.
David provided freshly baked biscuits which were very good. And I don’t know how mango reached this town but it was great with blueberries . The 1912 stairway. Very challenging for someone who has a bad back & knee.
David did assist with the very large piece of luggage I had getting out of the car. However I was on my own going up the stairs. Very challenging & since the guest rooms are all upstairs think twice about staying here if you have back or knee issues.

- Kathy (10/5): Very relaxing stay with a wonderful host who made a delicious breakfast. - The property was in a great location, very comfortable, and it felt like home. Nothing
- Ruth (10/5): Very enjoyable - Quaint and comfortable Na
- Andrew (10/5): - Beautiful B&B with an amazing location. Our host, David, was very friendly and gave us recommendations for the town. Nothing
- Howard (10/5): -
- Angelina (10/5): -
- Victoria (10/5): A cozy place to stay, in a great location, operated by the most welcoming host! - So much character in this space and the accommodations made us feel right at home. Very short walking distance to the downtown shops/restaurants. Breakfasts are homemade and so tasty. David is the best host and we so enjoyed speaking with him. A fantastic stay!
- Wendy (9/5): Wonderful stay in Saugatuck - The owner and other guests were amazing. You can't beat the location. The facilities had lots of extra room for lounging. Food was excellent. The mattress of the bed isn't what i'm used to at home, but I know you can't please everyone with a mattress. Not the facility's fault.
- Colleen (10/5): - Fantastic location & delicious breakfast!
- Timothy (10/5): - Dave and June have a lovely B&B. It's convenient to walk around Saugatuck Mi to shops and restaurants.
The 3 rooms with baths are decorated to match the age of the house with antique clock, paintings a wallpaper.
Dave takes pride in his breakfasts, as well should. Quiche, scones, fresh fruit that are local and excellent coffee are hard to beat. Don't pass up a stay her.
Only down side is parking is at a premium. This village is old.
- Jean (6/5): - We enjoyed the location, but the parking was a real challenge. The AC window unit was loud and kept us from sleeping. There is a step up into the barhroom which was a little difficult to navigate in the middle of the night. Loose tiles in the bathroom, and the toilet wouldn't always flush. We loved breakfast, especially the baked goods and coffee. Tha k you for your hospitality, David!
- Ryall (10/5): - Very home and quaint N/A
- Maria (10/5): Can’t wait to stay here again on my next visit to Saugatuck. - The location was excellent and it was easy to walk to anywhere within the downtown area. The light keepers cottage was very charming a nice and private
- George (9/5): - Perfect
- Constance (8/5): - Provides no parking spaces. Didn't realize what a problem that would be when i booked.
Stairs are kinda steep.
Friendly host. Full breakfast provided and served in a very pleasant way.
- elisa (10/5): - This is a small , quaint B&B. The owner is very hospitable and friendly. He does everything himself - cleans , cooks and gives recommendations. There might have been a little dust but otherwise thumbs up. Great location , nice breakfast , personal care and walkable to everything without a car . Parking could be a bit of a challenge at busy times because you need to find street parking but we always found something eventually. Would recommend to visitors.
- Chris (9/5): David was genuinely made to be a B&B operator. Everything was wonderful! - Excellent location close to all shops and restaurants. Great breakfast with homemade tweaks.
- Tamara (9/5): David was a great host that indulged us in a couple of great breakfasts. The location is great, close to the beach, sho -
- Cheryl (10/5): A Memorial Day-weekend at Serendipity B&B - Beautiful grounds, fantastic breakfasts, truly caring and kind owner and chef!
Walk a block into the shops and restaurants of Saugatuck. That I had to leave!!
- Rudi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darrell (10/5): Exceptional -

What a fantastic experience at Serendipity Bed & Breakfast! The house was beautiful, the location was perfect, and the freshly made breakfast every morning was absolutely tremendous! Thank you so much, David!
- Dolores (10/5): Breakfast were amazing. The host was wonderful and it was very comfortable there. I felt like Home. - Flowers and house itself!! Would have liked access to microwave and coffee and tea throughout the day
- Daniil (10/5): Exceptional - As a frequent traveler, I’m not sure we’ve ever come across a place as amazing and welcoming. We’ve already returned twice — and hope to come back again!
The first time, my wife and I stayed in a cottage. It was super cozy, warm, and had everything we needed (though older guests might want to be mindful of the bed on the second level under the roof — it’s accessed by a wooden staircase).
The second time, we came for a weekend with our 17-year-old daughter and rented two rooms on the second floor. The vibes of this house are so awesome that she put down her phone and read an actual book :)
Can’t say enough good things about this place. Breakfasts with David are unmatched!
- Medansky (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Host David was friendly and helpful upon check-in.
Parking conveniently in front of the B&B.
Great location within walking distance of anything in downtown Saugatuck.
- Shea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (10/5): Fun and comfy in Saugatuk. - David, the owner, was amazing. He is a wonderful cook. He made a special tofu breakfast, because I am allergic to egg whites. Nothing
- Timothy (10/5): We enjoyed our two nights at the Serendipity and appreciated David's hospitality and the delicious breakfasts. - The house is charming and comfortable.
- Michael (10/5): All Excellent except for loft access. - All good except the ladder to the loft. Not quite safe. Handrails on the ladder are definitely needed!
- Katelyn (10/5): It was a short stay but I would love to book again and spend more time with the experience! - It was timeless, gorgeous and great service! Nothing, great location!
- Rick (10/5): Will be back - Location is perfect, park the car and walk anywhere …David is an excellent host…breakfast was over the top
- Chase (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (9/5): Superb - Breakfast and David’s overall service was exceptional. We really enjoyed chatting with him. The location is great and within walking distance of everything downtown Saugatuck. Due to the very cold weather, the sitting porch wasn’t warm enough to use. David had converted one of the bedrooms to a library which was great but it could use more and more comfortable seating. The bedrooms are too small to hang out in for long periods of time and we like to chill at a b&b for hours reading and playing board games. This is a very minor complaint however and wouldn’t be an issue in warmer weather.
- Preston (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (5/5): Great location. Price was good. David was a good host. Minimal sleep. Phil’s Bar & Grill was amazing - Scones were awesome. Coffee weak. Fruit was fine. Frittata was alright. Restroom down the hall was awkward when running into other guests. Walls super thin and other guests talked much of the night. Little sleep.
- john (10/5): - The owners where great and breakfast was omg good
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeffrey (9/5): Superb - David was a wonderful host. His breakfast was delicious and he made his inn very comfortable. The location was excellent right off the Main Street. We were able to walk to wherever we wanted to go.
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): - This property exceeded our expectaions. David, the Inn Keeper was very friedly and made us feel at home. He taylor made us a fantastic breakfast every morning. We will stay here again and recommend to our friends and family.
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judith (10/5): Serendipity is a great place to stay in Saugatuck, peaceful and quiet but two steps from the centre. - The house is in a fantastic location and was very comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed David’s breakfasts - he’s a great cook.
- Kathi (9/5): We loved it! - David made us wonderful breakfasts each morning of our stay and was great about sharing the history of Saugatuck and things to do in the area.
- Leiterman (10/5): Loved the location to downtown, the room was comfortable, and the breakfasts were excellent. - Quaint, historical home, excellent location. David was a wonderful host.
- legalcarol (8/5): Great Location, Delicious Breakfasts but Place Needs Much TLC - I will start out with the good stuff. This is a quaint old home with lots of charm. A number of antiques and collectible pieces. The location is great! Right in the heart of town - you can literally walk everywhere. The host David was a nice person and gave us helpful hints of places to eat. The breakfasts that David served were quite delicious. Now on the negative side. Although the home possesses charm, I have to say that all pieces of furniture and knick knacks in our room were coated with a thick layer of dust (not cleaned in a long time). The gardens outside could have been beautiful, but were severely neglected. This place needs a lot of TLC.
- Kenneth (8/5): Great location and value for our Saugatuck visit -
- Ron (9/5): Superb - Location Location
David
Patio table
Breakfasts Loft but ok
- Sherry (9/5): Superb - Great little cabin, Host was great, food delicious. Will definitely return Little pricey
- Jeffrey (10/5): - Very hospitable owners. Serendipity is just a few blocks from downtown Saugatuck. Very clean and well appointed cottage.
- Dave (10/5): - Dave who hosted our stay made it special! He made great breakfasts and was very caring. He has a beautiful garden that you can tell he loves. He made sure that you will enjoy your stay. The location is awesome, very easy to walk around.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Bill (8/5): A nice place to stay in a great location - Location breakfast host Steep stairs queen bed small tv
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was clean for antique
- Susan (10/5): - David was a congenial host. His freshly made breakfasts were wonderful. The room (Lily) was small, which is typical of an historic, older home, but had a bathroom in the room. The location was perfect, near the social/shopping area of Saugatuck.
- Marguerite (7/5): David an outstanding host !!! - Great breakfast Not so much decorative stuff in room …was challenging to make room to put our things in the room and could of had a power strip for our devices .moved the rocking chair into library so we would have room to walk around room …..tv needs to be put on a stand as we had to use towels to have height for tv to view in bed
- Rauch (10/5): We enjoyed our time and appreciated Dave’s company. - Comfortable bed. Delightful breakfast. Close to downtown. Parking free and close. Beautiful gardens. Nice library room with lots of books and games. Long stairway. Having to walk through common area to get to bathroom.
- Lindsey (10/5): - We had a lovely stay
- Darryl (9/5): Superb -
- Kim (10/5): - Cute home with an early Christmas feel to the town. Dave is very hospitable! So far so good!
- Yigal (10/5): - This place has lots of character! We visited off season for one night stop on our way from Detroit to Chicago. We had the whole place basically to ourselves. Loved the homey decor, lots of old furnitures and decorations, and the library area was very cosy.
David the owner was very welcoming and friendly and cooked a great breakfast for us.
Wish we had time to stay more.
- Anonymous (10/5): A very pleasant weekend in Saugatuck - Location, proprietor was helpful and served a great breakfast
- Beach (9/5): Great B&B with a perfect location - The room is quiet and the bed is very comfortable. There is plenty of room in the closet for a weekend stay. The bath is down the hall, it is a private bath for the room. The Serendipity is a small B&B, two rooms in the home and a cottage out back that is accessed through the garden. It is very intimate and very laid back and quiet for being as close as it is to downtown.
One of the Serendipity's best features is its location. There is no need to drive anywhere, everything is within walking distance. This is a huge plus in Saugatuck as the traffic and parking in season can be a hassle.
The breakfast was delicious! David really outdid himself with the quality and variety of breakfast items. I really enjoyed the waffles and the breakfast pie.
David is very welcoming and very knowledgeable about the Saugatuck area. His is a very good host.
The best room is the solarium in the front of the house. It is the perfect place to relax after a day of roaming the Saugatuck/Douglas communities.
- David (9/5): Nice place in town to stay and enjoy Saugatuck. - Great location in town near everything. Good breakfasts. Communications from David, our host, were timely and accurate.
- Jane (8/5): Very good - The breakfasts, convenience to attractions, the solitude Pricey compared to other places, very cramped room, thin coffee
- Cassie (9/5): Superb -

- 904PatriciaH904 (10/5): True old fashioned bed and breakfast. - We loved this quaint bed and breakfast. The location is a block off the main street and is perfect for exploring the downtown. We met some wonderful people who were also staying at the Inn. The owner made us wonderful breakfasts. The room was cute and we had plenty of room for our belongings. We would definitely stay again in the future!
- SHERRI (10/5): - The owner of the Serendipity was welcoming and friendly. The place seems calm and peaceful. The owner made the best breakfast!
- Lynn (8/5): we really enjoyed our stay. The host was wonderful and very friendly. - excellent location. breakfast was wonderful. the bathroom was not in the room.
- Lana (8/5): Lovely home, host, and breakfast! - Breakfast was amazing!
Host was very nice and accommodating!
Lovely home with a very comfortable bed!
Spotless- TV in room was quite small
This is a historic home with a beautiful staircase leading to the bedrooms upstairs- which is fine unless one has difficulty climbing stairs as I do.
- Arlene (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jasper (7/5): Good - The staff was friendly and the breakfast that was brought to us every morning was excellent. The unit is centrally located in the city and quiet. A few things that I found not to our liking is the path to our cottage was muddy, uneven and very narrow, the dust bunnies on the windows were huge and exterior seemed rather run down for what we were paying per night for.
- Aral (9/5): Superb -
- william (10/5): - Great place in a cool town Host was very helpful with info about the area
- Donna (10/5): Saugatuck Gem!! - Location was perfect and David & June, the Innkeepers, were absolutely lovely!! The breakfasts were amazing and David's knowledge of the area and his home were top notch!!
