Highly recommand it. The wifi could be better - but this place is where you should disconnect and enjoy the ocean and sunsets.

- MARYANNDONADT (2/5): Estafados y decepcionados. - NOTHING Una experiencia inaceptable, insegura y engañosa Elegimos el Kikoi Hotel Zanzibar porque publicita facilidades para personas con movilidad reducida. La realidad fue exactamente lo contrario. Al llegar, nos asignaron una habitación ubicada a más de 300 metros del lobby, en primer piso, con una escalera muy empinada, totalmente incompatible con cualquier limitación para caminar. La primera habitación —bonita solo en apariencia— presentaba fallas graves: • Aire acondicionado fuera de servicio • Presión de agua prácticamente inexistente • Wifi inutilizable • Mantenimiento deficiente evidente Tras reiterados reclamos, nos informaron que nos cambiarían “excepcionalmente” de habitación. Sin embargo, el manager Tommy nos otorgó un downgrade, burlándose literalmente de la situación: • Habitación más pequeña • Sin frigobar (debimos solicitarlo) • Sin pava eléctrica • Sin vista al mar • Con los mismos problemas de agua y aire acondicionado. Tuvimos que reclamar aquello que habíamos pagado y no nos dieron. Y no éramos los únicos huéspedes que nos sentimos estafados. Nunca nos entregaron el control del ventilador de techo pese a pedirlo varias veces. Tuvimos que limpiar nosotras mismas los filtros del aire acondicionado, que aun así jamás funcionó. La ducha de la habitación no tenía prácticamente agua, por lo que debimos bañarnos en la ducha exterior de la piscina, a la intemperie. La piscina tiene un piso extremadamente resbaladizo. Una de nosotras se cayó y se lastimó, sin que nadie del hotel se acercara a asistirla. Además, la piscina estaba sucia, sin mantenimiento visible. La playa real no tiene nada que ver con las fotos: es una franja de aproximadamente 4 metros de ancho, cubierta de sargazo, y para acceder al mar hay que bajar por una escalera de concreto en mal estado, peligrosa incluso para personas sin limitaciones físicas. El restaurante es pésimo: La comida tardó 45 minutos en llegar, era de muy baja calidad y claramente no acorde al precio.

Beim Abendessen im Restaurant nach einer Stunde Wartezeit das falsche Essen bekommen. Personal ratlos. Strand leider völlig mit Seegras überflutet. Da müsste man einmal von Seiten des Hotels ordentlich sauber machen..so wirkt der Strand nicht einladend. Etwas weiter nördlich ist es besser. Nicht vergleichbar mit Nungwi.

- FREDERIQUE (2/5): Grosse déception ! - Franchement pas grand chose: si, la cafétéria à côté du restau (pour boire un vrai café), mais qui n’ouvre qu’à 11h30 ! Honnêtement, entre les robinets qui sont mal posés et qui ne tournent pas, des pbm de pression à la douche, des bouteilles en plastique retrouvées dans le « carré jardin » à côté de la chambre, une piscine verte où personne n’a mis un pied bien sûr, un petit déjeuner limité tout comme le restau , quant aux activités proposées par l’hôtel…à fuir impérativement, les tarifs changent (doublent) du jour au lendemain vraiment !! Une vraie arnaque très désagréable . Contrairement à ce qui est indiqué sur le site, il n’y a pas de plage privée non plus ! On ne vous change pas les serviettes de bain non plus, pour 10 jours…
- Nicola (8/5): Ruhiges schönes Hotel direkt am Strand - Die Lage direkt an dem herrlichen Strand ist hervorragend. Der Strand ist relativ ruhig und bei Ebbe kann man sehr weit laufen. Das Wasser ist klar und der Sand ist ganz fein und weiß. Die Fischer fahren sehr rücksichtsvoll mit ihren Booten, so dass man in Ruhe schwimmen kann, auch bei Ebbe. Im Gegensatz zu anderen Orten in Zanzibar fiel der Strom hier fast nie aus. Die Glasfront unserer Zimmer war verspiegelt, so dass wir tagsüber die Vorhänge auflassen und den Meerblick genießen konnten. Eine tolle Idee! Wir durften unsere Sachen am letzten Tag noch in einem anderen Zimmer unterstellen und konnten bis nachmittags weiter alles nutzen. Herzlichen Dank dafür! Wir kommen gerne wieder! Familienzimmer: Die Zimmer, vor allem die Badezimmer könnten eine Renovierung gut gebrauchen. Unser Moskitonetz war nicht bündig an der Zimmerdecke angebracht und hing teilweise herunter. Glücklicherweise gab es nur wenige Moskitos und wir sind nicht gestochen worden. Wahrscheinlich haben wir in dem alten Teil des Hotels gewohnt, denn die Bungalows sahen von außen viel neuer aus. Das Wifi in unseren Räumen hat so gut wie gar nicht funktioniert.

- Sylvia (9/5): Great again! - This was my second visit to Kikoi – this time with my 85-year-old mother. We received a very warm welcome and I got the room I wanted – my mother got the one next to it which was conveniently connected by a connecting door. The rooms are spacious and you can see the sea and the wonderful white sandy beach from your bed, which is wonderful. The staff in all areas are very courteous and friendly. The whole hotel complex is lovely. and very clean. We were allowed to use one of the two rooms at no extra cost until airport transfer pick up (4 hours after the official check-out time). The internet isn't the fastest. Even though they immediately placed a receiver directly on our terrace after we complained.
- Bernardita (7/5): Ideal para descansar y desconectarse - La playa es preciosa, la piscina privada es un must; y la limpieza del lugar. El restaurant es bastante bueno, tienen mucha variedad y son platos bien preparados. El personal es bastante atento y el lugar es bastante tranquilo, ideal para descansar y desconectarse. Las piezas están bien equipadas, con ac, frigobar, hervidor, secador de pelo, closet grande, etc. Se preocupan de poner los mosquiteros todos los días y de rociar matabichos todas las tardes. La isla tiene problemas de agua, luz y wifi. Se corta la luz varias veces en el día pero el hotel tiene generador. Lo mismo con el agua, se acaba el estanque y demora bastante a que vuelva a haber presión y agua. El WiFi es pésimo; se cae a cada rato y hay que escribir las iniciales para acceder toda vez que se quiere utilizar. Nos quedamos en el bungalow de honeymoon y la cama es realmente pésima, deben cambiar los colchones urgentemente, son durísimos, súper delgados y ya están deformados por uso (están marcados los cuerpos en cada lado), además la cama tiene un armazón que está completamente descuadrado y al moverse suena bastante. No entregan amenities en el baño, solo jabón, el shampoo y acondicionador es lo mismo, y parece el mismo jabón para lavarse las manos. Nos dieron agua embotellada solo el primer día (nos quedamos 1 semana) los otros días tuvimos que comprar. Faltan batas en las habitaciones.

- Julien (9/5): - Le personnel est très gentil et est vraiment au service du client. Nous avons demandé une chambre Twin et ils nous ont donné deux chambres car il y avait de la place. Comme il n'y avait personne après nous, nous avons pu rester tard le dernière jour sans supplément. Vu sur la mer directement depuis la chambre.
- Kurt (7/5): View to a lamb chop kill 🤔 - The beach facing views with white sand and palm trees 🌴 combined with the lapping of the ocean water was awesome. Tranquility and peace at Kikoi Boutique Hotel was just as appreciated 😎 The place itself was always clean inside and outside, including the private pool with staff coming in every morning to clean. Staff was very polite and friendly and easy to talk with. Aside from the small annoyance of crows cawing and wanting to steal your food 🫣whilst relaxing outside, the restaurant and kitchen was the biggest disappointment. Hospitality and service at the Kikoi Restaurant was so low level and the food was terrible, very plain and tasteless...Lamb chops OMW 🙈 rubbery, couldn't even chew this. had to give the whole plate back and wasted my money. Omelets were bland with no idea of variation. Probably the only reasonably good dish was the chicken wings and the grilled prawns. No descent salad at all. I ask for a coffee refill and I got the exact same cup with back with coffee stains on the outside....all of this with no pressure whatsoever on the staff, the place was virtually empty. Now , I don't think this is a reflexion on the staff , chef , waiter/waitress. They were friendly and polite, beautiful people. This is a management issue, little to no training in hospitality all round especially the food. I spoke with surrounding restaurant owners and staff and everybody agrees..... I suggest you seriously up your game in this department, beautiful views are not enough.
- Danielle (10/5): Alles Top! - Wir als Paar waren eine Woche im Kikoi Hotel und unsere Erwartungen wurden übertroffen. Wir sind um 23.30 angekommen, das Personal vom Empfang war nicht mehr da aber die Nachtwächter wussten Bescheid und gaben uns den Schlüssel. Das Frühstück war im Restaurant. Einfach aber alles was man braucht. Die Säfte werden frisch gemacht und die Eier kann man bestellen wie man sie mag. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und bemüht alles recht zu machen. Frühstück gibt es von 7.30-10.00 Uhr. Das Restaurant ist durchgehend geöffnet bis 22.00 Uhr und das Essen sehr zu empfehlen. Wlan war überall gut. Geld kann man wechseln am Empfang von Dollar in Schilling. Das Hotel liegt sehr ruhig. Wir würden auf jeden fall wieder gehen. Mückenspray nicht vergessen :=) Wir haben den Flughafen Shuttel über Booking gebucht war einiges günstiger und hat super geklappt.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Kikoi. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to their honeymoon suite and the room is outstanding with its own balcony, pool (seaview!) and even a small stretch to the beach. The other rooms with private pools are a bit less private but nonetheless very pretty. There are two public pools, a volleyball field and a sundeck with seaview lounge chairs. The common areas are the only thing that could be improved with a little more love (e.g. the wooden sundeck seemed a bit „rusty“). The on site restaurant is directly overviewing the ocean and serves excellent indian food that made us return several times. Don’t be initimidated by the large menu - every dish was fantastic and fairly priced. The breakfast is a tad basic and lacks variation but still tasty. The restaurant staff is very welcoming and remembers your name. We booked a mangrove SUP tour with the on site boat operator and the local guys were great and offered a very competitive price compared to offers closeby. Highly recommend doing the mangrove tour for sunset. From the hotel you can also take beach walks dependent on the tides to long stretches of white sand. This is a quiet part of the island, perfect if you are looking for some relaxing days.

Sécurité de l’hôtel qui exige 10000 shillings en guise de cadeau. Juste pour le dire cela as été le pire Hotel de ma vie. Réception qui vous vole avec le sourire jusqu’au petit matin dans votre chambre. les wraps sont fait avec les reste de crêpes du petit déjeuner . SCANDALEUX. Harcèlement du début à la fin. - Verified traveler (6/5): - There are two sides of this place. First, the best parts: we stayed at the villa with private pool. The villa was new and everything worked, I mean everything with a great view. Also, the young guy at the reception was a man in the right place and he was able to organize everything we requested. Second, the worst parts, there's only one: the restaurant. The service was lowest I have ever encountered. After waiting two hours I received a wrong portion. There were mistakes on the bill constantly. And after that, the taste was not good (except for new years eve). If they only change all the kitchen staff, this place has a great future. I would stay here again, but not eat.

Das Personal ist sehr lieb und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr reichhaltig. Und das Speisenangebot in den 2 Restaurants recht vielfältig. Wir können das Hotel uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Wer das Paradies sucht, der ist hier richtig.

Es war deutlich zu merken, dass das Personal sehr zuvorkommend und darauf bedacht war unseren Urlaub so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten. Wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt. Unser Zimmer war immer sehr, sehr sauber und absolut komfortabel, obwohl wir bei dieser wunderschönen Anlage kaum Zeit auf unserem Zimmer verbracht haben, geschweige denn wollten. Wir würden immer wieder dort buchen und empfehlen es sehr!

- Birgit (8/5): Ruhige Anlage - Da selbst Autofahren auf Sansibar nicht gerade empfohlen wird, hatten wir keinen Mietwagen sondern mussten jeweils einen privaten Transfer für Ausflüge buchen. Die Anlage liegt in einem ruhigen Teil der Insel, wie wir es auch wollten. Nachteil ist natürlich, dass man von dort schlecht wegkommt. Die Gezeiten machen sich hier wie fast überall auf der Insel stark bemerkbar. Wenn man Urlaube an der deutschen Nordsee mag, wird man sich auch hier wohlfühlen, der Strand sieht aber oft nicht so aus, wie auf den klassischen Sansibar Fotos. Strandwanderungen bei Ebbe muss man mögen, streunende Hunde am Strand ebenfalls. Ich habe mich bei meinem Jogging-Ausflug (und auch Spaziergang) "rechts runter" auf alle Fälle bedroht gefühlt, als mich zwei große, herrenlose Hunde mehrmals angesprungen haben. Dafür kann das Hotel natürlich nichts, aber dieses grundlegende Problem sollte vielleicht angegangen werden. Das Wandern und Kajak fahren in die Mangroven ("links runter") ist dafür mehr als entschädigend, einfach toll!! Die frischen Säfte sind ohne Übertreibung eine "Geschmacksexplosion" und das teils lange Warten lohnt sich. Cocktails mit Alkohl gibt es auch, aber erstmalig hat mich der Alkohol bei den köstlichen Säften fast gestört. :-) Da man ohne Auto an die Anlage gebunden ist, sollte man auch Hähnchen mögen, denn das findet sich reichlich auf der etwas übersichtlichen Speisekarte. Zum Frühstück kann man Eierspeisen bestellen. Das Personal war durchweg sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Beautiful hotel. TERRIBLE SERVICE - Beautiful hotel with lovely facilities but is let down by its inept staff. Customer service is severely lacking and needs a lot of improvement - waiting 1 hour 40 minutes for a meal is unacceptable. Overcharging was also a big issue - there is a 100% mark-up on taxis booked through the hotel. Food hygiene is also questionable. In addition, there was a clump of hair stuck to the skirting board of the bedroom and a used toilet roll in the front garden of the bungalow throughout our stay (both there before we arrived and still there when we left). This is such a shame as the property is genuinely beautiful and it would take very little to bring it up to standard.
